OK - am going to take the plunge and start one...anyone coming?

Scorpio, do you mind me asking where you had your scan? I had a private scan next week when I was 11.5 and it whilst everything looked normal, part of the intestine was still outside. Apparently this can happen in early scan as the bowel is still in the process of coming into body. I've already posted separately about this and had no responses but desperate to know if anyone else found the same thing in a scan at 11.5 weeks or whereabouts.

mine was NHS, at the hospitals EPU. I'm sure if they reassured you then all is well?

Oh and my baby's had closed up, i was dated 11+4. have you posted in pregnancy about it?

I don't know - she said she was 99% sure it would close up and that she sees it a lot but it can't be that common if noone else had seen it in their skins so expecting the worse really.

so, did your sonographer point it out and mention that it had closed up?

Gangle, I dont know of anyones that did close up, but I had a friend whose daughter was born like that, as they knew it was fine, trhe y just operated on her at birth (not just, but it wasnt bad iyswim) she was even allowed to give birth naturally, and her daughter (a little terror!) is perfectly fine. Hopefully it wont come to that, but even if it does try not to worry. What did the hospital say??

The clinic where I had the scan just said that they would rescan me next Tuesday to check it has closed. I also have my NHS appointment the same days. The sonographer said not to worry but of course I can't do anything but.

You're bound to worry, of course you are!
Just looked up the condition and apparently it is called exomphalos, so you not what to look up if you want to be prepared for it not having closed, fingers x it will have.

There is a lady on here that had it, her son was born fine, just like my friends, so even if it doesn't fix itself, please don't fret too much, it is perfectly treatable.

thanks Lorayn. Still really hoping it's not that - if it is then the next step will be to work out if it's just that or if it has other problems as well as it can be related to other disorders. However, someone just posted something incredibly positive on my other thread - the same thing showed up on their scan at 11.5 and had gone when they scanned a week later so praying mine will close up too.

I'm not sure of the chances of it being just that or being related to other disorders, hopefully all will be fine.

I hope it will close up, chances are it will- an exampholos is fairly rare, there are however some babies on the SN threads that have been born with one, and probably some elsewhere so if it doesn't close, post there and you will get lots pf support and proper, useful, non-google-scary advice and support (googling conditions ais a natural thing, but as a Mum of sn kids, i can promise you, also the most guaranteed way of scaring yourself to bits)

Hi, sorry, just barging in from May's thread and saw your worries about bowel outside the tummy at 11 weeks, Gangle. I'm an NHS sonographer and it IS normal at this stage. Noone can diagnose exomphalos at this stage, and it CAN vary when it all pops back in( so try to be prepared if on Tuesday they can't say for sure, I know, its asking the impossible). If we see it, we leave it 2 weeks before rescanning BUT 'powers that be'(i.e the big BOSS) argue we shouldn't even mention it as it is a normal finding- so lots of people will have had it on their scans without it being mentioned. That's probably why not many people can tell you much.
Just trying to reassure you it is completely normal to see at this stage. Please do what you can to relax, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that Tuesday they can say all is fine (but it might take another week to say for sure, sorry)

Hope everyone's having nice weekends. My lovely DH has taken dd to the seaside for the day so I have some peace and quiet. All I really fancy to eat at the moment are hot cross buns and apples...

Soph73 That's interesting what you said the other day about either feeling you're not pregnant or that you're expecting twins - I feel the same! This pg is just so different to dd's that I just can't get my head round it so assume that there is either something wrong or twins as I am SO big already. Roll on 8 Oct when we can both find out!

Mumofk, thank you so much for your post. Hugely relieved although I won't believe eveything is ok until the scan but you've made the wait a bit more bearable. I've received some posts on my other thread from people who've had the same findings on their 11 week scan and all turned out fine so reassured by that as well. Thank god for mumsnet as I was scaring myself to death on google! Will let you knows how it goes on Tuesday but will prepare myself for another wait. Thanks again. xx

Just thought I would update my details. I am still weeing all the time. My sickness seems to be easing I am now only sick 2 or 3 times a week rather than twice a day.

just wanted to update my details
my scan is tomorrow im really scared its my 2nd baby and i live in manchester

STILL haven't ahd date for my scan- good job I have oted out of the 15 week blood tests as you should ahve the scan first,a nd I am 14 weeks in the next few days! Will ring unit again tomorrow, but am asuming my notes still lost and don't want to ahrass MW to send them in as will need her on side later on

Thought I would do a quick update. I'm starting to feel human again and looking fat! The queasiness is starting later in the day.

peachy - what a nightmare - the last thing you need with the sickness, school issues and just life in general. Have things resolved them now with your DS and school? I see you are in Caerleon - I'm sure my sister went there to do her teacher training. If my memory serves me right there are lots and lots of pubs!

Hello all - too lazy to read back messages now but will catch up tomorrow - hope all well though.

Oh my god I had a proper mental breakdown today my Dh kept moaning (he is a great moaner and cant get though a day without moaning aleast 20 times) anyway for some reason (I am blaming hormones) I just couldnt take it this morning it could be that I havent had a real nights sllep for 2 months having to get up and pee at least twice But I started crying and couldnt stop this was at about 10.30 it really shocked my DH as I said I could cope with his moaning and he was making me miserable! so he sent me to bed where I stayed until 1.30 I really did need the sleep only thing is now I dont feel tied and I have to be up for 6.30 for work [sigh] Its the first time the hormones have taken over and whilst I was sitting there sobbing and i mean full out sobbing I was thinking to myself this is the bloody hormones lol!

Anyways good luck tomorrow RDK hope all goes well and anyone else who has a scan x
