O dear - that's rubbish - I thought if I do this once then I know how its done next time... guess that theory doesn't work then? you know what's bothered me? They warn you about the sickness and the boob swelling/soarenee, but they never tell you of the worries - thta has been my main 'upset'!

By the way - I'm forking out for the 'inbetween' scans privately... only have the 12 and 20 week scan at the hospital.

Soph73 · 24/09/2007 15:47

LOL - trust me, nothing is the same for me this time round. With DS no mood swings, fab skin/hair/nails, etc. Sailed through e´thing. This time the complete opposite. I´m like the incredible pregnant hulk And have just realised scan isn´t until 2 weeks today, not 1 week - aarrgghhhh!!

Soph73 · 24/09/2007 16:00

Have just been to loo and small amount of reddish brown blood. Also have stomach cramps. What do you think?

Soph73 · 24/09/2007 16:01

Eek, just been to loo and small amount of reddish brown blood. Also got stomach cramps. Any advice ladies?

ClairePO · 24/09/2007 16:03

Hi all

Hope you are all well, sorry not been around for a while, we had a holiday touring Europe at beginning of Sept, sadly while we were away I started to miscarry. Can you please remove me from the list, edd was 15 April.

Wishing you all lots of luck and lovely babies.

Claire

EllieG · 24/09/2007 16:13

So sorry ClairePO - look after yourself x

soph - don't think you have to worry too much if is browny blood, but if you are bothered, or gets too much, I would give the midwife or GP a bell tomorrow x

Brownish not so bad -- TMI question but have you had sex recently? Could be worth calling the doctors as you might be able to get an early scan.

lemonaid · 24/09/2007 16:16

Really sorry, Claire. I hope you and your DH are bearing up OK.

honeybee10 · 24/09/2007 16:27

After having bleeding for part of last week and having to sit and worry all weekend, had an early scan this am and saw my little bean complete with flashing heart beat . I didn't realise how tense I felt till I practically floated out of the room with relief afterwards! My EDD is 28th April and will try not to complain about any of the sickness tiredness etc I feel as I'm just grateful to still be pregnant.
So sorry for everyone who hasn't been as lucky as me hugs.

Soph73 · 24/09/2007 16:33

honeybee10 - aahhh
lemonaid - actually yes I have, Friday night. Could that have something to do with it then or is that a silly question?

Soph73 · 24/09/2007 16:34

claire - so sorry {{hugs}}

Lorayn · 24/09/2007 16:38

Cramps shouldnt mean too much, nor shooting pains, this is my third and have had them with every pregnancy, so try not to fret.
Also brown blood usually means old blood, therefore not likely to be as bad.
Claire, sorry sweetheart, good luck for the future.

Piccalilli2 · 24/09/2007 16:39

So sorry for everyone who has had bad news.

I had my 12 week scan today, my EDD is now 7 April and the baby had hiccups! DD was very over-awed by the experience but did wave at the screen and say 'hello baby' which was very sweet. I'm having another private scan this evening as we don't get the nuchal test on the NHS here - it'll be nice to be able to enjoy this one without worrying whether everything is OK.

Soph73 · 24/09/2007 16:42

Thanks lorayn. Think I´ll just put my feet up after work and see what happens. Did have a small bleed while pregnant with DS. I just seem to be so much more paranoid with this pregnancy.

lemonaid · 24/09/2007 16:51

Brown spotting is very common a couple of days after sex. Your cervix is really sensitive and will often bleed a bit if it gets irritated. So in principle nothing to worry about (although, of course, we all do).

EllieG · 24/09/2007 18:55

Congrats to you both honeybee and piccalilli, lovely to hear when people have scans that go well. You DD sounds sweet piccalilli - how old is she?

So sorry all those with bad news, it's awful.

I had a scan this morning after having a bleed last week, and thankfully everything's fine. It's amazing how much the baby has grown in the last 3 weeks since I had my 1st scan, and the nuchal fold thing was fine too.

EllieG · 24/09/2007 20:11

Good news knitter x

I'm terrified, my ds has just told me he feels itchy....when looking at his skin he has a few spots and it looks alot like chickenpox....oh noo !!

Now he's had it before and so have I...but I'vw just been reading online about how it can affect pregnancies and now I'm scared stupid. Does anyone have any experience of being in contact with a child with chickenpox whilst being pregnant??

reassurance really needed before i can ring the midwife tomorrow.

x

lemonaid · 24/09/2007 21:07

If you've had it before, you should have immunity and be fine (mind you, if he's had it before he should have immunity and not be catching it again, so...). You can get a blood test to check your immunity levels, and if you aren't immune and are exposed to chicken pox there's an antiviral they can give you.

Where are the spots? Could he just be having an allergic reaction to something or have insect bites?

Lorayn · 24/09/2007 21:14

my DD got chickenpox when her aunt was pregnant, as I remember the midwife checked her out and all was fine, lot of fuss about nothing in the end I think
try not to fret.

Daftmoo · 24/09/2007 21:15

Thanks lemonaid, he's deffo had it before....hign temp, blisters, the works !! Tonight it just looks like spots (it's prob in my head as another boy in his class has just had it) one on his leg and about 5 on his shoulder, I've checked behind his ears, nape of neck etc...and none there.

He went for a sleepover at the weekend at his friends and they have cats....so now I'm thinking pesky flea bites, and I know it's bad but I so want it to be flea bites !!!

He's asleep now, when I go to bed we'll check him over for more spots, pretty sure if it's the pox they appear quickly.

Gawd...I'm over-reacting at everything and if I wasnt sat here typing i'd be pacing the floor.

x

lemonaid · 24/09/2007 21:47

It does sound more like flea bites. Fingers crossed...

scorpio1 · 25/09/2007 09:10

I'm so worried i want to cry.

My tummy has been hurting periody like all weekend, and im having a scan at 11.10 today. Im not bleeding.

I just want my baby to be well

Lorayn · 25/09/2007 09:13

I keep getting cramps too scorpio, and was absolutely shitting my pants for my scan on saturday, I was convinced there was going to be no heart beat, and when I didnt see it straight away on the screen I thought my fears were confirmed, then the midwife pointed it out.
Phew.
fingers x, everything will be fine.
Good Luck
