Morning all. I have stitch-like pains all the time at the mo & still feel like my period's going to start! My sense of smell has gone all weird too, keep having to ask DH if food smells OK after I´ve cooked it as everything smells off at the mo, weird

Lorayn · 17/09/2007 10:21

oh and constipation has anyone had this problem?? this probably sounds really weird, but I dont know if I am or not!! I havent really managed to keep anything down for longer than about ten minutes for weeks now, and cant remember the last time i did a number two, also keep getting period like cramps in my back and dp suggested it could be cos i need the loo!!

EllieG · 17/09/2007 10:55

Sounds like could be constipation - I am getting this really badly and does make me feel a bit uncomfortable at times. Try prunes/raisins/wheat-based cereals.

peppermint tea really helped me when I had bad constipation after an operation last year

Is anyone else getting really vivid and weird dreams? I keep waking up after horrible nightmares (often about miscarriage), then can't go back to sleep for ages - which makes the tiredness the next day even worse. I'd heard that erotic dreams were common but hadn't heard about nightmares - would much prefer an erotic dream to the ones I'm getting

Lorayn · 17/09/2007 11:14

mirry not so much with this pregnancy but with ym other tow I did, I dreamt about the baby being born and being able to talk, i dreamt about m/c, a mutant baby all sorts. I think it is quite normal.
EllieG not sure I can manage to eat any of those things I'll try some raisins!!

Lorayn · 17/09/2007 11:15

MY OTHER TWO, sorry seem to be speaking fluent typo lately!

EllieG · 17/09/2007 11:46

Had loads of dreams mirry, but they seem to be calming down now. Think is just your mind's way of sorting out anxieties, try not to worry too much about them, though I agree they do knock you a bit x

God yes, I have dreadful constipation and nothing seems to be working at the mo Sorry if TMI. Also having bizarre dreams - dreamt I was driving a steam roller the other night with DS strapped into the seat next to me

Peachy · 17/09/2007 17:01

Lorayn, dont worry too much about eating- try keeping mainly to fluids and a few lighter foods if you can manage it, maybe ice pops, melon, etc. Might help you break the cycle a bit and with HG, dehydration is the only real health risk and as several of us on mn have ended up on a driip n the apst, its not a nice way to go!

I found I got a lot of apins because I was dehydrated, think it was kidney pain tbh. could it be that do you think?

Lorayn · 17/09/2007 17:04

not sure peachy, I have had kidney failure before and thinking about it, it is in the same sort of place, I think I'll mention it when I go to see the doctor.

Peachy · 17/09/2007 17:07

I would, its something they should definitely be checking- dehydration amkes you vulnerable to UTI's for a start

mumzyof2 · 17/09/2007 17:17

Not sure if TMI, but does anyone else get thrush more often when pg? Iv just got it today, and its soooo anoyying. Iv had it a few times in the past, and none of that canesten stuff works at all for me. Any help? Also, im 9+1, and still no date for scan. Should i have recieved it by now? Just rang the ultrasound dept at my hosp but nobody answered.

Peachy · 17/09/2007 17:19

Haven't had a date yet, MW migt mention it tomorrow- am 12 weeks as well so must be clsoe!

V1KK1M · 17/09/2007 19:28

I'm wks tomorrow and have my scan on Thurs. It was sent to me on 9th August.

I think different hospitals do different things!

Peachy · 17/09/2007 20:37

Yes they do (v1kki you're sue same day as me I think)- some GP's book scan, whereas I refused to see MW until boys back at school (couldnt inflict that on poor woman) and here she is the one who does the booking.

studentmum1 · 17/09/2007 23:33

hiya people! i'm very happy today! been for the scan this afternoon and i'm pleased to report that everything is ok and i'm sat here with my photo of littl un! he or she is dated as older than i thought and my due date is now 26th march! so i'll be leaving you all and jumping up in the queue!!! hope you all have wonderful pregnancies and i'll be popping in to check!! (studentmum wonders over to march thread!!) xxx

lemonaid · 18/09/2007 08:37

Hello! This thread dropped off my threads I'm on list for a while.

Really sorry, Mrs Threads.

I had that dream about the baby being born and being able to talk with DS too, Lorayn. In the dream I was telling everyone that I was sure it wasn't normal, but they all kept looking at me pityingly and telling me not to worry so much...

I have midwife appointment on Thursday and scan on Monday, after which (assuming all is well) I shall be coming out as pregnant. Although given the size of my middle at the moment I'm finding it hard to imagine that no one has guessed already (it wasn't too bad until about a week ago, when the one friend who knows and who'd been reassuring me that I didn't look about six months gone already reappraised my midriff and said "mmm, you know, you're right, you do look rather pregnant now". I haven't even put on huge amounts of weight (as of last week I'd only put on 2 pounds),

Peachy · 18/09/2007 10:39

Apparently I should have my scan date but the unit ahsn't made it yet- ahve to call friday if one notrecieved. Typical LOL

EllieG · 18/09/2007 10:46

mumzy - am getting horrid thrush. Spoke to GP about it today and she said using canestan pessary and cream is fine, oral capsual a big no though.

Soph73 · 18/09/2007 11:03

studentmum - how lovely, good luck for March. Great month (my birthday´s the 28th ) lemonaid - know how you feel, I´m huge already

Lorayn · 18/09/2007 11:34

I bought maternity clothes on saturday, and have been LOSING weight so christ knows how big I would be if I hadnt!

loisstella · 18/09/2007 12:23

Loosing weight too...but my middle is expanding - my trousers are pretty tight at the moment.

Had something a little scary happen to me this morning.
Woke up, was moving over to DH for a little cuddle and whilst I was kind of stretching my middle and turning I had this agonising pain in my tummy/side - like I tore up something.
I'm sure it's just baby making room, muscles stretching in directions they never experienced before (especially my un-exercised muscles) but I would love to hear some re-assuring words form you guys... I didn't do anything awful did I?

sagitta · 18/09/2007 12:30

Hi Loistella,

I dont' think its anything to worry about. I get that a lot when I sit up or move awkwardly. I seem to remember it from last time too. I think its just muscles.

By the way, thanks to everyone who has been so supportive. I've haven't been ill for a few days now, and am also feeling a bit less miserable. SplishSplosh - thanks for your point - that's exactly what I should be feeling - getting on with it rather than just wanting it all to be over. I can't say I'm happy yet, but I'm crying a lot less... thanks everyone.

Lorayn · 18/09/2007 12:33

loistella dont worry its fine, its just your body expanding.

lemonaid · 18/09/2007 13:14

Yes, I get that too. I'm already propping all round my belly with pillows in bed so that I don't do it so often, because it hurts and is rather unsettling.
