Wonderful news Ellie, so pleased for you

EllieG · 13/09/2007 20:13

Thanks girls x
Peachy - why won't the local school take your DS? If you don't mind me asking, what is his SN?

OP posts:
chipmonkey · 14/09/2007 00:12

Peachy, that is shocking! I find it hard to get the ds's to ONE school in the morning. Won't they reconsider at all?

Lorayn · 14/09/2007 09:16

Ellie SN is special needs, although I think it is pretty disgusting a school can stop taking a child because of it

Soph73 · 14/09/2007 09:28

Morning all. Lorayn - one of my colleagues actually asked if there was more than one in there - gulp!! loisstella - can I come too? EllieG - Fab news, can´t wait to go for mine Peachy - that´s horrible, hope you get it sorted soon.

Lorayn · 14/09/2007 09:32

soph I have had numerous people try telling me it is twins, but I was huge with my lst one (ds) as well, and got the same questions so am hoping that it is the same situation!!! God only knows how I would cope with newborn twins a 3yo and a 6yo.

Soph73 · 14/09/2007 10:03

lorayn - don´t you´ll make me break out in a cold sweat I only have one DS but can´t even bring myself to think about how I´d cope with him and newborn twins or how we´d afford it for that matter!! I wasn´t huge until the end with DS but but on weight after he was born (& never really lost it) so hoping it´s mainly fat and junk food

loisstella · 14/09/2007 10:05

Babywhiting - been thinking of you and watching the news and I hope you mortgage is with Northern Rock - because if so, you are going to be fine!
If you find it an iffy situation, do look at remortgaging, but consider redemption fees if you've signed up to them for a period... if not, let this play itself out. This is not going to leave you in a lurch or homeless.
Hope your day today is much better and everyhting is going okay with bump too.

Ellie G - wonderful news!

ToastAddict · 14/09/2007 10:10

Hi all,

Just been for my second scan, everything is fine

They dated me at 8 weeks 4 and a half days! - quite precise!!!

Must admit to feeling a little deflated though, as they have said I won't get another scan until 20 weeks, which seems like forever. They are using this one as the dating scan.

I'm seeing my midwife for the first time next week, so will ask her about it - if I have to, I'll go privately for a scan at 12-14 weeks. But it seems a little unfair not to offer a 12 week one.

Sorry for the moan, I am of course thrilled that all is well with the bean. Was really nervous beforehand so can at least relax now

Doingitallagain · 14/09/2007 10:31

Morning All

Toast addict and EllieG - fab news on your scans. I had a private one at 8+4 just to make sure it wasn't twins, cos I felt so crap, and it's just soooo reassuring isn't it? (and thankfully was just one)

And I'm now realising I haven't posted since then - really rubbish of me. Haven't even got the excuse of feeling so ill all the time, as have actually felt a little better since last week (still not better enough to tackle the housework though ). Must try harder..

Babywhiting and Peachy - crap news to be dealing with at the mo, bw, as others have said, please don't stress about it. And Peachy, sounds like the LEA needs a big kick up the arse.

Much like others, I seem to be eating for England already, but daren't get on the scales to see what I've put on! I'm back in my comfy maternity trousers now - think I managed to get out of them for about 3 months since last baby .

Has anyone heard the heartbeat with a doppler yet? I read lower down you can use them from 10 weeks, and I must admit I have been trying for a week or so now (am 10+4), but big fat zero. I know, it's just too early, but wondered if anyone else had managed it?

Anyway, sorry for long post, must learn - "little and often, little and often".

Happy start of the weekend everyone,
xx

loisstella · 14/09/2007 10:31

smcg - definitelly going to PITP and a friend told me they do maternity at Saks now - woohoo - fancy maternity stuff.
Used to live there too. Still not over the fact I don't anymore...

smcg · 14/09/2007 10:44

Yeah, it's a great place. I was there 2000-2005. When did you leave? Maybe I know you irl!

loisstella · 14/09/2007 11:02

Was there before you... 1999 (and in SF 1998).
Where did you live? I was in Manhattan 16th & 3rd (right by Stuyvesant & Union Square)
I go back twice a year to see friends etc - also got my wedding dress there last year.
I hope this baby doesn't mean I have to completely give up this addiction because I rather like it... maybe I can cut it down to once every 18 months... or push the hubby a little harder to get relocated to the NYC office.

smcg · 14/09/2007 12:05

We lived on the upper westside for 3 years then Hoboken for two years. I'd love to move back but it was annoying being on a visa and not being able to change jobs easily. It is pretty child friendly there, I think ... you'll can introduce the baby to the joys of Central Park and Bloomingdales at an early age!

loisstella · 14/09/2007 13:00

yes, more child friendly then here - way ahead of offering corporate childcare (there's a creche in my husbands office in NYC).
Like to introduce bubba to some magnolia cupcakes too!
O well.... keeping the dream alive.

Nauseous and hungry today - just had a strawberry tart from "Paul" hmmmmmm

smcg · 14/09/2007 13:08

Maternity leave sucks there though.

The bank my husband works for here (US bank) offers 20 days emergency childcare, not bad.

bobsmum · 14/09/2007 13:16

Just saying hello ladies - my EDD is 1st May for no.3 baby, but as you never know when they might decide to turn up, I thought I'd check in to the April board too

Any Scottish mums on the April board?

MrsThreads · 14/09/2007 13:21

Unfortunately we have just come back from the hospital with bad news [cry]! I was convinced something had gone wrong and it had. They tried the external scan and thought she saw the heartbeat but couldn't be sure. She told me she would have to go in with an internal scan and have a proper look, which told us that the heartbeat she thought she saw was my blood vessels and there was no longer a heartbeat. The sac had grown in the last 2 weeks but at some point, the little bean had died. Missed miscarriage is it called?

Anyway I have opted for a EPRC as soon as possible so waiting to hear from the hospital as to when my slot will be with the Consultant.

Now? Cancelled our anniversary weekend as feel it is better to be close to the hospital in case something happens or I get called in on a cancellation. Very worried that I will dispel the foetus before I get an surgical slot so praying I know something soon.

A small upside is that we will get automatically referred for fertility tests to find out what is going on as this is our 3rd failed pregnancy in 10 months.

Anyway I won't be on here for a while as I need to take some time out to deal with this and find it too painful to be on here though I will pop on to read any messages you lovely people leave for me.

Please could you remove me from the due date list.

Thanks and hope you all have good pregnancies and safe deliveries next April

Natxx

bobsmum · 14/09/2007 13:24

MrsThreads - so sorry . I had a missed m/c before I had ds and then had a D&C as soon as possible. My bean had stopped growing at 6 weeks, but I didn't find out til 9weeks. It's really, really hard, but you'll get loads of support on here. Best wishes to you and yours.

smcg · 14/09/2007 13:27

MrsThreads ... so sorry to hear your sad news.

Mum07 · 14/09/2007 13:35

So sorry Mrs Threads

Mum07 · 14/09/2007 13:38

Am i alone in having had absolutely no contact from my local hospital/midwives since informing my doctor over three weeks ago?

I had an ectopic pregnancy last time and so was pretty much bricking it when i got to about 7 weeks and haven't been able to get any sense out of the antenatal midwives office (she'd never heard of me) and ended up getting a scan at the local Bupa to put my mind at rest.

Should i be really cross or is this normal? I remember when I was pg with DD that i felt really ignored for the first trimester but i sort of thought I might get a bit more attentuion this time round with my history.

TheMaskedPoster · 14/09/2007 13:42

oh MrsThreads - so sorry to hear your news

take care

xxxxx

smcg · 14/09/2007 13:52

Mum07, I haven't heard anything either. It's been two weeks now since I went to the dr.
