Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

Very glad to hear that the cramps have eased @Chooklass 😊 It is very scary not knowing what's the new normal and what's not! 🤷‍♀️

On the iPhone/hairdresser thing, she just cancelled the premium membership once she'd got the app setup and it's automatically put her back to a 'basic' user (I felt bloody awful because I was the one who recommended the app to her! 😥).

I'm getting my roots done on the 22nd (when I'll hopefully be 7+4) and I don't really have any intention of cancelling it! 💇‍♀️ @QuantumGirl @MrsLouB I found this on the NHS site:

www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/is-it-safe-to-use-hair-dye-when-i-am-pregnant-or-breastfeeding/

Looks like the only research that suggested it could be harmful was using massive quantities that a human wouldn't actually use! 🙄

Welcome back @Littlelot. I was thinking about you the other day as I'd remembered you were furthest along and had a scan this week! Exciting to see your bean :)

Don't worry at all @BambiOnIce80 and @FlapJackered. I shouldn't have let it panic me (or caused you to panic by questioning it @FlapJackered). I guess this is the only downside of this group, if people are talking through how things are moving along, we're not all going to be at the same pace and that might cause worry. Wait until half the people are getting kicks, and the other half have had no movement. That'll be interesting 😂

I also use the Ovia app and quite like it. Today there is something on mine about "how to get your appetite back in early pregnancy". Umm....unless I'm missing something, it has very much not gone. It's probably bigger than usual!

On the nail polish question, if you scroll back to the end of last week, @Viletta posted a link about which beauty products are ok or not. You basically need special nail polish with certain ingredients missing.

Good to hear things are feeling better this evening @Chooklass. 👊🏻

Wimbledon1 · 11/02/2020 18:33

Also, why do half my messages keep appearing in bold? And why is no-one else having this problem?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

candycornlover · 11/02/2020 19:05

Hi ladies,
I've seen your messages of support and I truly appreciate you thinking of me.
Had scan, gestational sac could be seen, however couldn't see anything in it. Had more bloods done and levels dropped to below 300 from 2700 two days ago, so yes it's all over for me now. I'm absolutely heartbroken and it just seems desperately unfair and cruel for a couple to go through the hell of ivf and then to become pregnant only to miscarry.
Anyways I'm going to check out of this thread now as it won't be good for my mental health to keep checking in.
I truly wish you lots of happy bouncing babies to come this October xx

Littlelot · 11/02/2020 19:13

Thanks @Wimbledon1 - I don’t think I’ll be able to believe it until I see it! Also I can’t see half your post in bold? It all looks normal on my screen except for the people you’ve tagged.

So many things to consider - I hadn’t even though about nail varnish before (although I’m so useless at that type of thing that I genuinely cannot remember the last time I painted my nails 😳) I’ve had to change my face cream as it had retinol in - again minimal evidence of any risks at the amount we put on our faces but still I don’t want any what ifs.

I’m not using an app at the min but may have to download one on Thurs.

Took the plunge and rang my drs today about midwife appointment and apparently mine arrange a house visit so am waiting for midwife to call me at some point to sort that out. Not sure what she will make of our house currently half our fence is blown down after the storm and we have a hole in the ceiling currently drying out after a pipe leaked last week! Ah well. Does anyone else have home visits or do you have to go to drs?

Also I anyone else’s fb suddenly cottoned on to their pregnancy and started putting baby/maternity related ads? I had one pop up from seraphine oh I long to be a glamourous pregnant person - feel I may be heading towards a waddling less graceful version!

Littlelot · 11/02/2020 19:17

@candycornlover sorry for the cross post. You’re right it feels like the most horrible cruel thing. I found the miscarriage board on here really helpful last summer. Take care of yourself and allow yourself to grieve properly and take as long as you need! If you have access to counselling I’d thoroughly recommend it when you feel ready. Sending lots of hugs your way. X

Viletta · 11/02/2020 19:31

I've discovered that brands like OPI and Essie (and many more) don't have these harmful ingredients, they are branded as 3 free or 5 free. I'd recommend if you do the nails ventilate the room really well to minimize inhaling anyway.

Wimbledon1 · 11/02/2020 21:22

I'm sure you won't see this @candycornlover but so sorry to hear of your loss. So cruel you're right. Take care of yourself 💐

@Littlelot thanks for the reassurance. Weirdly on my screen from the point I tagged @FlapJackered the first time right to the end, it is bolded?!

Facebook hasn't caught onto me yet but creepily my Mum told me on the phone that my google searches are coming up in her google search prompts!! So she's quoting back at me some of the stuff about early pregnancy I've been googling. Unfortunate as I've implied I'm still going through IVF so I dont need to tell her until after the first scan. Pretty sure she knows now when she's presented with search terms about what you can eat in early pregnancy. Guess one of us is logged into emails or something on the other's computer. But both annoying and creepy from google!!

Thanks @Viletta that's helpful to know as OPI is my brand of choice!

BambiOnIce80 · 12/02/2020 07:51

No midwife home visit here @Littlelot, but I know in the county next door that's what they do (so not unusual). I've to go to the local mini-hospital/treatment centre for mine, which is only a 20 minute walk from where I live so nice and convenient 👍 I fell out with FB and it's cookies about 18 months ago for exactly this reason - big brother is always watching you! 👀 😏

It sounds a lot like Google plus has dobbed you in to your mum @Wimbledon1! 😂 I made the mistake of logging into it on my work laptop and now all my boring work-related searches come up on my phones search history 🙄 Maybe log out from it next time you're at hers to get your privacy back 😉

So, weird new symptom of the morning: feeling like my uterus has had a small amount of deep-heat rubbed into it! Ever such a slight warm/hot sensation that was coming and going 🤔 Hoping it's nothing more sinister than a sign of Sprocket making their self at home 🤞🏡

... Obviously I've googled it and apparently a burning sensation can be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy and I'm now trying to talk myself down from the edge of getting frantic about that! 🤯 My lower right-sided dull ache can also apparently be a sign of one too! 😥 The only thing I definitely don't have (yet!) is shoulder tip pains or stabbing pains, so trying to take comfort in that 😳

OP posts:
Viletta · 12/02/2020 10:03

@BambiOnIce80 I got this sensation early on, I think it's pretty normal as your blood flow in that area increases.

BambiOnIce80 · 12/02/2020 10:12

Thank you @Viletta! I needed to hear the voice of reason! 😊 I'm also feeling fine again now 🤷‍♀️ I'd reasoned with myself that whilst my little dull ache is situated on my right-hand side, the whole of my uterus is intermittently feeling taught so hopefully Sprocket has situated their self in the correct place after all! 🤞

OP posts:
Viletta · 12/02/2020 10:26

I don't have much symptoms at all. Slight heartburn in the morning and tender breasts. If I didn't know I was preggers I wouldn't have even noticed. When is your scan?

Chooklass · 12/02/2020 10:35

I called and got a date for booking appt with midwife and 12 scan today (after your handy advice @BambiOnIce80!). Good to have them booked in but I feel anxious looking ahead so far! Working at home with my feet up today, which is just as well - I’m knackered! I’ve been getting a whole range of stabs, aches, twitches etc all round my abdomen for about 10 days now. I think I know that warm feeling too @BambiOnIce80!

Chooklass · 12/02/2020 10:35

‘12 wk scan’

BambiOnIce80 · 12/02/2020 10:46

That's very true @Viletta - if I didn't know I was pregnant I wouldn't be paying it any mind at all! Peeing a lot more often and ready for bed at 9pm, but nothing drastic 👍 My scan is next Tuesday morning (6 more sleeps! 🤩). When is yours?x

Excellent news on the booking appointments being sorted @Chooklass 😊 I know what you mean about the nerves from the 'counting our chickens before they've hatched', but I'd also be stressed if I get to next Tuesday, all is well and then I couldn't get an appointment until week 15 or 16!🤯 Enjoy your WFH day 😘

OP posts:
Viletta · 12/02/2020 13:06

I think they have to book you for a 12 week one way or another, it's a crucial scan. My first scan is this Saturday! Eeeeek!

Wimbledon1 · 12/02/2020 13:57

I feel it might be worth sharing something I once read that I found really reassuring about symptom spotting. When you walk down the street, you don't pay attention to the cars, certainly don't notice their make and model. When you are planning to buy a new car, you suddenly notice all the ones you like and don't like and are much more aware overall of cars.

In summary, many of us are guilty of thinking "oh, I think xxxx could be that". But only because we are looking out for it. I reckon @BambiOnIce80 that's what your ectopic pregnancy worries are. It's just because that's the worst outcome really at this point that you can't help but associate things with it.

I by the way am crap at following this mantra, but thought I'd share anyway 😂

MrsLouB · 12/02/2020 13:58

Hey how is everyone doing, i have been back and forth to the clinic hoping we will have more of an idea tomorrow and all being well our scan on the 25th Feb.

Have you guys started booking in with Gp yet as i was going to wait until the scan at the clinic as i beleive they relaise you back after this?

Also is anyone else still on meds? i have mine re ordered and checked the amounts as way to many there, but the clinic said they only need to give them until 10 weeks and then the placenta takes over. From what i read it was 12 weeks so no i am in a panic what happens when i stop and the placenta is not formed properly.

Viletta · 12/02/2020 14:34

@Wimbledon1 good analogy!

I though the sac goes sets in uterus week 4, so if ectopic by how we would be in lots of pain..

@MrsLouB I called GP right away and booked midwifery appointment for week 8. It's up to you if you want to do it now or later. My clinic also said to continue with meds till week 10 reducing the amount from week 8. If bleeding starts add more progesterone. I decided to think about it when week 8 comes, I'm sure they know what they are talking about and would not jeopardize the process by giving early date.

MrsLouB · 12/02/2020 14:41

thank you @BambiOnIce80
i am looking to change GPs so i will mention it when i register x

BambiOnIce80 · 12/02/2020 15:21

You're quite right @Wimbledon1 - I need to stop constantly worrying about the worst outcome (I am trying, but I'm woefully failing! 😏).

Oooh, very soon for your scan @Viletta! 🤩 In my area the midwife said it was best to book ASAP as they can't guarantee a 12 week scan the later we book 🤷‍♀️ The logic about the ectopic had crossed my mind too, but the NHS website didn't help by saying it could go undetected up to 12 weeks 😕 I've stopped panicking about that for the moment though and moved on to the next thing! 😂

... Which is Omega 3 fish oil supplements 😬 The ones I'm taking say they're made from fish oil. The manufacturer also makes a cod liver oil supplement, so I've been trusting that there's no liver in the one I'm taking... but it doesn't specifically say it's free from liver and I'm now driving myself nuts about this! 😩 It's ingredient list doesn't mention vitamin A, whereas the cod liver oil one does, so I'm hoping it's free of it 🤞 I've emailed the company to double check (yes, this is the level of crazy I'm currently operating at! 🤪😣) and I'm going to stop taking them for now, just in case. I hate that I'm being this way. It's so not me normally! I think it's the cumulative effect of TTC on and off for 10 years and getting to the stage of believing that I'd never be able to get pregnant, and now that I am I seem to have gone into some kind of crazed over-drive to protect the embie! 🤯 Am I the only one who is losing the plot with this stuff?!

OP posts:
Viletta · 12/02/2020 16:19

@BambiOnIce80 I am a bit like that with checking all cosmetics for harmful ingredient. The other day I read that Israeli government lists iodine as required supplement along with vitamin D and folic acid and then read that NHS recommends it too. It apparently increases baby's iq! I had to get it the same day 😂

I think being anal about these things is actually fun. You get to connect with the pregnancy. As long as it makes you happy I'd say it's all good.

I remember when we found out that we have to go IVF route I was so devastated, thinking it's so unfair. I had images in my head of secretly finding out I was pregnant and thinking how and when to tell my DH. I remember thinking I'd never have this surprise. Turns out seeing bfp after IVF was amazing for both of us superseded the surprise normal pregnancy test. I feel DH is much more switched on now too. I just like finding positives in the IVF process. Aren't we lucky? 😂😂😂

QuantumGirl · 12/02/2020 17:51

I'm with you @Viletta I'm counting my blessings 🙏. I'm also paranoid about chemicals during pregnancy but that's because I love make up and perfume and hair cream but I managed to reduce my cleaning products to a minimum, it's amazing how little we need them and it's the adverts who makes us think they are indispensable 🤨

@BambiOnIce80 your body is good enough to produce a beautiful egg and it knows what to do to keep your embryo safe. Trust your body 😊. Anxiety won't bring anything good x

@MrsLouB fingers crossed for you 🤞

Bestofyou1982 · 12/02/2020 20:47

Well unfortunately it's the end of the road my pregnancy journey after a very unpleasant afternoon, I've had an early miscarriage. Felt unwell yesterday so had an early scan and was told all was well with sac measuring at around the growth expected for 5weeks 2days. This put my mind at rest, only today for it to all come crashing down. Just back from hospital where they removed the 'products of conception' thatbwere trapped in my cervix. I so hope for all of you ladies that the journey ends happily. Much love to you all and thanks for support to this point. Guess it just wasnt to be. xx

FlapJackered · 12/02/2020 20:52

@Bestofyou1982 I am so sorry you are going through this. ❤️ I hope you have some support. Take care of yourself and don't put pressure on yourself to feel ok. The mc boards I found really helpful on here for support. X
