Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

Here’s the little one. Looks quite chilled there but was moving around lots and making life tricky for the sonographer. 😆

Aw! Huge congrats @Littlelot! ❤️

Great news on your test results too @Viletta

I’m 11+1 today and my appetite is through the roof! I’m just going with it for now but will have to reign it in soon or I’ll be the size of a house!! X

@Viletta that is great news!! You must be really relieved!

@Littlelot congratulations! I can't believe how human it looks now! 😍

So nervous for mine tomorrow, I don't know how I am going to sleep.

Morning all - sorry, I've also been worrying elsewhere (my Mum is in a really tricky situation with the virus and work has been busy with it) so I've almost forgotten about being pregnant!

But lovely to return to lots of nice news today with good scans and results, hurrah! @Littlelot as others have said your bean looks so much like a little person now! Love it. Great to hear yours were great too @Viletta and @DobbieFreeElf. Best of luck today @FlapJackered - finally here and I think we are both now second trimester officially, is that right? Or will it be at next Friday? Aargh!! Let us know how it goes.

@Chooklass your post about ticks was interesting. Corona dependent I'm meant to be going to the Scottish Highlands in the summer where there are loads of the things so I'd love to know what the midwife said!

Also, I'm loving the dog pictures. More of those please if others have them, nothing like a doggy in crap times!! X

@Wimbledon1 My midwife asked me to phone doc, phoned doc and they weren't bothered! Just said to keep an eye on it as per usual and if bullseye rash appears to phone GP. I work outside a lot so am painfully familiar with the horrible wee shitbags - lymes disease is no joke and GPs still don't seem to take it seriously.

There is definitely Lymes present in Scotland, particularly in the Highlands and Islands. Even for non-pregnant people they should really take them seriously. I always tuck trousers into socks, try to stick to paths rather than any longer vegetation and always carry a tick removal hook. Keep checking your clothes too, as they'll just keep walking up you till they find skin! My OH works outdoors in a ticky area and sometimes brings them home on his clothes - so worth checking yourselves over before going inside. Sorry if this sounds ott, but I know a couple of people diagnosed with Lymes and it's awful if not caught early. Hopefully you are one of the people they don't find tasty - they love me :(

@FlapJackered good luck for today!

Indeed I think we're one foot into 2d trimester now! Anyone showing yet?

All is well!! 😍
The shrimp was wriggling around so much that they couldn't take the NT measurement but she said it looked thin which is positive, I just have to have a blood test instead at 16 weeks.
I am over the moon! I really thought I was going to throw up before I was so nervous!

@Wimbledon1 sorry to hear about your mum.
They changed my due date to 7th Oct now so I am 12+2 today so sadly no longer due date twins but maybe you'll catch up at your 12 week scan too!

@Chooklass that is rubbish the tick had a go at you, it is early in the year for the buggers isn't it! My dog gets so many so will have to keep an eye out this year.

@FlapJackered what was your due date before? I was told they don't change dates for IVF as they know exact conception date 🤔

Thanks @Viletta ❤️
It was 9th, she knew it was an ivf pregnancy but said they go by size rather than transfer date 🤷‍♀️

Just checked back in to see how things went @FlapJackered - great news!! What a fabulous picture. They are growing up fast aren't they! 😉 Sorry to hear you couldn't get all your measurements done, I do remember someone in this thread saying a few weeks ago that this was a possibility so I guess you just have to be as chill as possible, particularly as she gave you an unofficial thumbs up. Hurrah! Interesting your due dates moved, I also didn't think they did that with IVF. Oh well, we're still spiritually on the same dating!

Hope everyone else is doing ok. There's an article in the Sunday Times today about pregnancy and Coronavirus and it looks very likely they are about to start cracking down on partners going to appointments and scans, unfortunately. Even births maybe?! Can you imagine. Keep everything crossed this is over by the autumn 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Ah @FlapJackered - so glad your little wriggler is doing well! Great news :)

1 week to day until my 12wk scan, though I'll be nearly 13wks then. I'm mentally preparing for OH not to be allowed in and totally understand the reasoning behind that decision. Not allowing partners in halves the risk of bringing the virus in, and will be a huge help in keeping the sonographers and midwifes healthy. Last thing we want is a shortage of them! Giving birth without him would be brutal - I can't even consider it. But you know what? We've all already been through a lot to get to this point and I've certainly been surprised how resilient I can be - I reckon we can totally cope with what is thrown at us, especially with the support of each other in this group! xxx

Congrats @FlapJackered so good to see and hear everything went well, gives me a great boost and positive energy.
I got a call from the midwife saying they are cancelling my 16week appointment as it is not classed as crucial, so will only have the 12 week now and then the 20 week. Unless I have the same and they can't take measurements of the fetus next week, then they will do a blood test at 16weeks.
I also asked if it's possible to find out the sex of the baby and they said no, I have to go for a private scan to find it out. Then I said I wouldn't mind paying for it but all the private scan places in our area are closed down so I don't have that option. Plus having an extra scan... wouldn't that put me in more risk? So she said I should ask next week, but they don't tell us the gender. They do it in Edinburgh, Glasgow and other places. Not sure I get this though, if it was the same for everyone in Scotland I would make peace with it, but just because my postcode is different we don't have the right to decide this?

Loved your post @Chooklass, you'd make an exceptional motivational speaker! :)
I must agree with you, we have gone through so much to get here, we will be able to handle whatever this year brings. BTW I have now the itchy scalp thing going on, my skin is very dry all over my body. Have you been told not to bring DH along or just expect to be told?

My scan is next Wednesday, so not long to go, mentioning IVF twins just reminded me how are you doing @rainbow178, when is your 12week scan?

Hi @Lily999 - we haven’t been told anything yet. Our scan is at local small community hospital which doesn’t have A&E, ICU etc, so I feel like it’s a bit safer but maybe more stretched as there will be fewer staff, and only one sonographer who’s based there twice a week. Interesting about your 16wk appt being cancelled. This worries me a bit as I’d be more reassured if getting regular checks for GD/ anaemia etc. Oh well, tough times for everyone in different ways 🤷‍♀️. We’ll have good stories to tell to our corona babies when they are older! Xx

I though we couldn’t find out sex until 20wk scan anyway? (Though we don’t want to know!)

Chooklass · 30/03/2020 11:16

Oh and I haven’t found a cure for my scalp yet @Lily999 😫. Washing my hair every day seems to help a bit, weirdly. I’ve got a dry patch on my forehead too now - actually pretty glad I’m not seeing anyone just now! 😂

Hi @chooklass, yes, they won't tell us at Forth Valley at the 20weeks scan. :( We always wanted to know, so quite frustrated by it to be honest. Have so many things that are more difficult for us than other couples at other times, now the 16weeks appointment being cancelled is a bit difficult to process as it means pretty much we have this one next week then nobody will check me at all until June that feels way too long. Sorry feeling a bit negative now as being checked up on would make me feel safer to be honest.

Report
Chooklass · 30/03/2020 11:52

I agree @Lily999. Not allowing partners is understandable, but cancelling checkups could increase our risk of complications going unnoticed. I wonder if we can send in urine samples or something? I'm sure if there were any concerns at all they will find a way - midwifes won't be happy about this either.

I was told I had to have the whooping cough vaccination on same day as my 16 week checkup? She stressed this was really important as WC is dangerous to baby.

I feel bad whinging, as we're probably in a much less scary position than women who are due to give birth in the next few weeks. That must be terriflying :(

justkeeprunning5 · 30/03/2020 12:28

My friend mentioned her 16 week was also cancelled, I’ve got my booking in tomorrow so will try to glean any information I can about scans and arrangements if other appointments get cancelled. Agree, that it feels like such a long wait on your own until week 20.

I have another friend due in 2 weeks, she is being very positive to me (maybe because she doesn’t know it’s been successful for us yet and therefore doesn’t want to come across as complaining) but it must be very scary. Xx

Report
justkeeprunning5 · 30/03/2020 12:30

Perhaps they will come up with another way to check urine etc in the interim? I’m sure they won’t do anything that will put us all in danger, the midwifes wouldn’t be happy about that as @Chooklass says.

True, that... Will you start telling more people once the 12 week scan confirms everything is ok?

I will ask about the WC for sure next week. we can also develop gestational diabetes that's scary and as you say it can go unnoticed for months... Maybe we can just drop off urine samples that sounds like a good idea.

Hmm. Scotland’s chief medical officer just said at First Minister’s press conference that screening for pregnant women would continue for now. (They are temporarily cancelling cervical, breast or bowel cancer screening amongst other things).

@Lily999 we will be telling people after 12 weeks has cleared and be open about the process it has taken. All of my friends have children / are pregnant so I hope the news will be received as a bit of good news among all of the bad and we’ve been married ages. Think they have given up on us!

Anyone managing to do any light exercise? I’m scared to do anything more than a daily long walk. I’m usually very active as part of my commute and I’m feeling so lazy but don’t want to risk anything too intensive. I’m not even lifting as much as a basket of washing for fear of causing damage, which is probably daft.
