Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

Not yet @FlapJackered! Thanks for the warning though! There was a poor woman on telly last night who irritated the shit out of me for no apparent reason - hopefully those feelings stick to people on telly!

I’ve had worsening AF-type cramps since last night. So hard not to worry 😢. Lots online about cramping being normal at this stage but some of these are pretty intense. No spotting or bleeding yet but I’m terrified of looking when I go to loo 🙈. Should be 5 weeks tomorrow so I’m thinking of doing a CBdigi in a few days to see a reassuring 3+ ... hopefully!

How’s everyone else getting on? Welcome to @QuantumGirl and @MrsLouB! Thinking of you @candycornlover xx

BambiOnIce80 · 11/02/2020 07:54

Absolutely yes @FlapJackered! 😂🤣 Sunday morning I wanted to rip his head off his shoulders for the most minor of things! 😳 I'm usually the peace-making/diplomatic one (always have been), but I think the hormones are messing with me! 🤪 The poor bugger has been solely emptying the cat's litter tray, doing all the hoovering and mopping and has been cooking all our meals and he still can't do right for doing wrong! 🤦‍♀️

6+0 here today and look at what my flo app reckons Sprocket looks like - a flipping alien! 👾 😯

Glad you made it back to the 'burgh OK @Chooklass, but sorry that the cramps are worrying you 💐 Could you ring the Simpsons Centre and speak to someone to help put your mind at ease?x

I think I’ll give it until tomorrow then phone @BambiOnIce80. I’m working at home tomorrow so easier to call. Working in an open plan office has been really awkward with all the IVF phone calls to make! Think I might give in and take some paracetamol today because if I can’t feel it I might not worry so much!

Viletta · 11/02/2020 08:10

Here is a cool article on baby development with lots of pictures of how they look by weeks embryology.med.unsw.edu.au/embryology/index.php/Embryonic_Development

I feel irritable often when I am outside and around people, in shops or busy streets.

@Chooklass I think the rule is that if your cramps are not more severe than af that you are fine. It's does make you nervous though, but they should come and go. It's often due to the uterus stretching and bowels moving around it. Maybe cheap tests would reassure you. You could do one whenever you need. Clear blue digital apparently has two regular strips inside one with high sensitivity and the other with low and a beam of light with a sensor to look at them and come up to a conclusion with an algorithm. If urine is more diluted on one day it won't be terribly accurate.

Chooklass · 11/02/2020 08:12

Ah no - there’s something on nhs website about painkillers, including paracetamol, potentially causing future fertility problems for embryo?! I though paracetamol was ok!

Bestofyou1982 · 11/02/2020 08:12

@candycornlover thinking of you xxx

Chooklass · 11/02/2020 08:14

www.nhs.uk/news/pregnancy-and-child/painkiller-use-pregnancy-may-affect-babies-future-fertility/

Actually, not clear cut. Seems NHS are still ok with low dose.

BambiOnIce80 · 11/02/2020 08:41

From reading the NHS article @Chooklass it sounds like you're fine to take one to take the edge off 👍

OP posts:
Wimbledon1 · 11/02/2020 08:42

Morning all,
Yes I read that as paracetamol ok occasionally in small doses @Chooklass so you could just take one?

I have had a lot of bad cramps. In fact the night of my BFP I could barely sleep coz of it. Was convinced it was bad, but I've had them on/off for two weeks now, never any spotting and otherwise all seem fine. I think it may actually be the pessaries and the pain might be around the bowels....

I would very strongly advise against the CBD though because what if it doesn't reassure you? I took one on Saturday when I was bang on five weeks so I should have got a 3+ and I didn't. And then I saw @FlapJackered say the following day she'd got a +3 ages ago. And as we are on the exact same day I panicked and was a misery guts most of Sunday. (My fault @FlapJackered for being a weirdo, no guilt intended!)
I took another this morning and have my 3+ so of course I feel better for it and I know I'm slightly undermining my own argument by saying that, but it's been a worrying 72 hours thanks to the stupid test. And if I'd got 2-3 weeks this morning I was all ready to go to Harley st at lunch for private bloods!! There is lots online about problems with their sensitivity so it's a really dangerous game!

@candycornlover I'm guessing you would have been back if all was ok after all... if that's right, I'm so sorry. Gutted for you and hope you are taking lots of care of yourself. Xx

BambiOnIce80 · 11/02/2020 08:50

I didn't realise you were panicking @Wimbledon1 or I would have tried to reassure you! 😥 Remember that the CBD's measure time from conception and not 'gestation', so you could easily get a '2-3' week reading when you're gestationally 5 weeks, if that makes sense? Plus, like you say, they're far from 100% accurate, so it sounds to me that you're spot on for where you should be 😊x

Like everyone is saying @candycornlover - thinking of you.x

FlapJackered · 11/02/2020 09:43

I am so sorry @Wimbledon1 I had no idea. If it helps I went into a worry spiral too that I had too much hcg, looking up molar pregnancies and Down's syndrome possible with high hcg! 🙈 I think whatever the result we worry! Like Bambi I have heard those CB tests are not reliable at all though.

@Chooklass I have had AF type cramps on and off too, I think it is normal though I know how every little twinge can be worrying as we just aren't to know what is normal for our bodies. X

@BambiOnIce80 😂😂 me too, I am normally the peace-keeper and we get on really well! Today he is just irritating me SO MUCH! We both work from home and normally he works upstairs and I work downstairs but he is hanging around at the moment and I just can't be in the same room as him 🤬😂 I feel close to losing my shit 😬😂
Congrats on reaching 6 weeks! Are you the front runner of this group?

FlapJackered · 11/02/2020 10:03

Me: 'It looks icy outside'
DH: 'I see dead people'
🤦‍♀️
I am wondering if it is the hormones or he is actually just being super irritating this morning!

BambiOnIce80 · 11/02/2020 10:10

@FlapJackered, I think you need to pack him off upstairs before you injure him! 😂

I think @Viletta might be ahead of me? 🤔 My predicted EDD is the 6th of October, but that could all change if we get as far as the dating scan, apparently 🔮

Littlelot · 11/02/2020 10:27

👋 sorry had a little while out trying to make time pass quicker! So pleased to see so many people graduating across from the infertility board 😁.

My clinic never did any bloods - they just relied on the home test and I haven’t really heard from them since as I’m on no medication. In some ways I guess ignorance is bliss as it’s one less thing to worry about but I guess it must be reassuring if you see the numbers rising.

My cramps seem to be fading now - hoping that means things are settling into things place. Still getting waves of nausea though which are unpleasant. Definitely find myself getting irritable especially when a bit nauseous and just want to be left alone which isn’t like me.

I’m off work today with full on horrible cold. Tried to work yesterday but only succeeded in pretty much losing my voice which makes me a useless teacher. I figure need to rest - and I can’t just have a lemsip and power through at the moment. I think it’s probably linked a bit to stress the closer I get to Thursday and my 7week scan. Rationally my brain is saying that I haven’t been spotting - which I was at this point last time - so there is no reason to worry but I also know that I’m sleeping badly and work is stressing me when it doesn’t normally so I think it is worrying me deep down. 2 more sleeps!

Anyone had any food aversions/ cravings? I didn’t think I had but at the weekend dh asked me to look through recipe books for ideas for the week (very lucky to have dh who is an amazing cook!) and I kept giving suggestions after 15mins he pointed out that every dish is requested had cauliflower as major ingredient. Any how may have consumed nearly a whole cauliflower yesterday - heat they are high in folate so who knows.

BambiOnIce80 · 11/02/2020 13:42

Lovely to hear from you @Littlelot 😊 Very exciting that you're 7 week scan is just around the corner! 🤩 Not so great about the nausea though! 🤢 I've been getting it really mild on and off for the last couple of days... and I've ordered some sick bags off of amazon (same day delivery 🚚 😉), just in case it gets worse and I'm hit by it when I'm stuck on the train! 🚂 😰 Please report back after your scan on Thursday 🍀x

How are the cramps now @Chooklass? They must be catching, because I'm having them more often than not today! They're no worse than AF type cramps though (which have always been super mild for me anyway), so I think what @Viletta says is quite a comfort - if they're no worse than AF cramps then it's probably just the embie getting comfy 🤞🤞🤞

Ladies is anyone using Flo app? I've been using it for years and now they want to charge me for the pregnancy mode ☹️

MrsLouB · 11/02/2020 14:16

@Littlelot oh good luck for thursday

I have never used Flo app sorry @QuantumGirl

@FlapJackered lol i think he might be winding you up in my eyes lol but i think that can be men in general

BambiOnIce80 · 11/02/2020 14:33

I've been using the flo app for years too @QuantumGirl and they haven't charged me for changing to 'pregnancy mode' 🤔 Could it be that you've accidentally clicked on 'flo premium' in settings? I'm on android, but my hairdresser has an iPhone and she had a similar problem to what you're describing in that it automatically tried to make her use flo premium and pay (no bloody chance!).

OP posts:
Viletta · 11/02/2020 15:04

@QuantumGirl I'm using Ovia pregnancy and it's free. It has loads of features, like tracking weight, steps, choosing names, lots of articles daily.

QuantumGirl · 11/02/2020 15:05

@BambiOnIce80 how interesting 🤔. I'm also on iPhone. I'll ask Flo tech people what's going on. No chance I'm paying, oh no.

@MrsLouB which app are you using?

On the subject of hairdressing I'm in desperate need to colour my roots. I'm brunette and nearly 40, my greys aren't welcome 🙅🏻‍♀️. My clinic advise against colouring hair but I can't bear looking at my hair like this. Are you ladies colouring your hair? How about nail polish? I need a groom 💅🏼💇‍♀️🧖‍♀️😩

QuantumGirl · 11/02/2020 15:07

Thanks @Viletta. I used Ovia when I was ttc naturally ( back then I had all the apps as if it would magically help me conceive 😁). I'll give it another go!

MrsLouB · 11/02/2020 15:08

i am not using at app at the moment but will be looking at getting one today. i had my beta back from the clinic as they wanted to test after my faint line :-) need another tomorrow so trying to be positive now.

No i really need my roots done too and feel awful with the hair as it is. would be keen to know x

Chooklass · 11/02/2020 15:29

I downloaded Flo last week and it wouldn’t let me do anything without paying! So I deleted it! iPhone here too 🤔

Cramps have eased a lot since this morning. I get painful AF cramps and these were getting close, though I’d normally have taken painkillers so hard to compare. Seems better when I’m not moving so could be combined with ligament pain? I knew my body really well before this so I’m finding it difficult not knowing what normal is anymore!

Viletta · 11/02/2020 15:39

@QuantumGirl I have bad grey roots too and read that not that much of the chemicals are absorbed through a calm so went ahead and died it yesterday myself. If you do it yourself or in a salon make sure the room is well ventilated and the stuff is on your scalp for as little time as possible. Alternatively check out more natural options like Aveda?
