Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

Hi ladies! Checking back in now, I'm pleased to see so many of you graduates over here now! 🥰

I've booked a private scan for the 17th to make sure pregnancy isn't ectopic. I'm really looking forward to seeing how baby is settling in. This is my third baby, but this little embie is already over 10 yrs old as I used one from the batch my DD was conceived from.
I've also already called and booked to see midwife. I see no point in hanging about. I share a similar outlook to @Viletta in regards to just focusing on the here and now. I'm pregnant now, so let's just be excited for that! This is most definitely my last baby, so I really just want to enjoy it and not keep counting down to next thing/appointment.
Definitely feeling very sluggish at the moment. I am not enjoying these pessaries one single bit. I may ask to do away with them. I've never used them in my other pregnancies.

Wimbledon1 · 06/02/2020 19:03

Ooh thanks @Viletta that's really useful. I hadn't really even considered beauty products. I am starving this evening as at a conference today the provided lunch option was a Thai beef (quite pink) salad, cheese and chorizo sandwiches, and salad. I ate a lot of lettuce there.

@candycornlover I HATE the pessaries. The mess, but also they are seriously upsetting my insides I think. At first midway through my TWW I was convinced it had failed because I was cramping. But that's still happening now I'm confirmed pregnant, have had no spotting; and it's intermittent not worsening. So I'm coming to the conclusion it's the bloody pessaries. I have another 53 of them in the pile to use too. Ugh.

@FlapJackered, glad you are feeling better today but honestly not need to apologise. This thread is here for us to let it out when we feel down! X

Viletta · 06/02/2020 21:03

Instead of going to gym, I am watching What to expect when you are expecting and eating a cheesecake! I promise to get back to healthy right on!

Viletta · 06/02/2020 21:04

How are you doing, ladies? Weekend is almost there!

Chooklass · 06/02/2020 21:28

I'm still in shock! 😲

I've had a long day at work today and am exhausted. Only got a half day working at home tomorrow though, then we're going away for a cheeky weekend break 😍

Thanks for the list of cosmetic dangers @Viletta - I try to use as natural as poss anyway but hadn't heard of a few of these! x

BambiOnIce80 · 06/02/2020 22:09

Oooh, a cheeky weekend break sounds like an excellent idea @Chooklass 😎 We're doing the same for Valentines day and I am seriously looking forward to a 3 day week next week 🤩 I'm working from home tomorrow and I'm going to ring the midwife number at my GP's and see if they're interested before the 7 week scan or not (no idea what the answer will be 🤷‍♀️). Then we're off out for dinner at one of our favourite restaurants, so the weekend is looking good so far 😊 I hope you have a kick-ass break too.x

Is that programme worth a watch @Viletta?x

Get some carbs down you now that you're home @Wimbledon1! 😋

I had a bit of a funny one earlier ladies (and a TMI one, obvs! 😳😏). Was walking home and felt a bit of a 'gush' 😳 Was dreading the knicker check when I got in, but no sign of any blood thankfully 😪 Think it might have been something called 'leucorrhea' which is apparently very common in early pregnancy, so no biggy 👍 Still felt the need to pee on an OPK immediately though for a bit of reassurance! 😂 Beautifully, stonkingly BFP even being in the evening without a 2 hour hold! Feeling a lot more positive now 🥰

@Chooklass cheeky weekend break sounds lovely and wfh with a restaurant too @BambiOnIce80

The comedy was quite funny but emotional at times. I have af like cramps now after the cheesecake. Read lots of reassuring posts that it is fine and also checked no blood. Took my magnesium and one tiny progesterone pessary (I take 8 a day of utrogestan)

Chooklass · 07/02/2020 06:47

I've had a few scary gushes like that too @BambiOnIce80 but it's just been milky white stuff. I'd assumed it was from the utrogestan, but maybe not! Speaking of which, I finish that today and I'm so scared I'll start bleeding ☹️! I need to learn to trust my body but I think infertility breaks that trust for so long, it will take a while xx

BambiOnIce80 · 07/02/2020 07:53

It was indeed milky white stuff @Chooklass and I've been off the utrogestan for over a week! Apparently the technical term for milky white stuff is 'leucorrhea' - who knew! 😂

I was also worried about stopping the utrogestan for exactly the same reason. Trying to learn to trust my body after years of it not doing what it was supposed to is tough, but so far so good 🤞

Gushing milky stuff, sounds like something else to look forward to 😂 My brain continues to go mad like others of you while I sleep. On the tracking app last night I saw that at the time of the scan; embie will be the size of a raspberry. So then last night so had a dream I went to the loo and with some blood was a raspberry. Oh dear!

@BambiOnIce80 please can you let us know what the GP says, as I've still not called mine and probably not planning to, but if they say you should have earlier....

Have lovely relaxing weekend all x

Viletta · 07/02/2020 11:57

@Wimbledon1 what a horrible dream. I guess our brain puts all the things we think and worry into a twisted mix. I had a couple of sexual dreams.. hormones. My cramps are gone now but I am feeling more nauseous today. Can't wait for the scan. One week to go!

BambiOnIce80 · 07/02/2020 13:44

Ditto on the sex dreams @Viletta! Bloody hormones! 😳

I had a very professional 2 hour meeting this morning (the kind where you're on your best behaviour and don't want to make a tit out of yourself) and I absolutely didn't need a wee when I went in. 1 hour in and I couldn't concentrate/sit still at all because I thought I was going to pee myself! 😳 Had to excuse myself an hour and a half in, otherwise I was going to have an accident! 😳 Useful pointer I've just read - if you lean forward when you're having a wee it empties your bladder more effectively than when you're sat upright, so you should be able to go longer before feeling like you're busting for a wee again... you're welcome! 😂

I'm going to ring when I get home @Wimbledon1 and I'll certainly report back 👍 Like @Chooklass says, I think it'll be variable between GP practices as to what they'll say (bloody GP Russian roulette! 🙄).

@BambiOnIce80 haha great tip! 😂

BambiOnIce80 · 07/02/2020 15:57

So, it turns out there's a central booking number for us @Chooklass - it's not based at the GP surgery, iyswim? They just attach you to a midwifery team based on our GP's location 👍 They were more than happy to book me and said I didn't need to wait for the 7 week scan - they said booking sooner meant we have a better chance of getting our booking appointments as close to 12 weeks as possible. The only slightly annoying thing is that there's 2 separate appointments for the midwife booking consultation/bloods and the ultrasound, so my midwife consultation is at 12+0 and the ultrasound will then be 12+3! 🤷‍♀️ Everywhere I've worked does them both together 😕 Ah well, I've got one days annual leave left to use and for the other one I'll have to ask to work from home 🏡 They said it's just the same number to cancel it if we need to (though hopefully we won't! 🔮🤞), but still best to get the appointments in now 🗓

Chooklass · 07/02/2020 16:17

@BambiOnIce80 thanks!! All useful to know 👍. Seems the nurse I spoke to wasn't clear on that?! You should get time off for pregnancy-related appointments? My employers are public sector too and I'm sure that's in their maternity policy? 🤔 That would mean telling work though!

FlapJackered · 07/02/2020 17:05

@BambiOnIce80 ah the gush!!! I am so glad you said that as I just thought I had developed incontinence very early on! 😂😂
I am conflicted about booking the appointment now. 😬 I don't want to have to have it late, but I am just nervous of jinxing it!
Good wee tip! 😂 😂

BambiOnIce80 · 07/02/2020 17:28

Yep, I'd get the time off for the appointments no problem @Chooklass, it's just more the pain-in-the-arse-ness of then having to commute an hour and 30 minutes (from the Royal) to get to work afterwards 😂 Easier to work from home (15 minutes commute from the Royal 👍) on appointment days, but I'd be putting my boss in a tricky position asking to do that twice in 1 week 😒 Think I'll take the day off of the actual scan, just in case it's bad news and I wouldn't be going back to work anyway... and if it's good news I can be a lady what lunches and do a spot of shopping! 😉 My new annual leave year starts less than a week later though, so then my annual leave cup will runneth over once more! 🎉🥳🤩

Oh @FlapJackered, the inner voice in my head that sounds exactly like my DGM is screaming at me that I've jinxed it, but I'm telling her to shut up because it'll be just as stressful if everything is fine at the 7 week scan but then I can't book until 15 weeks or something because all the bloody appointments have gone for 12 weeks! 🤯😂

OP posts:
Wimbledon1 · 07/02/2020 18:12

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 that's really useful to know. Sounds like I ought to be calling through too then to try and line up a date and if mine is split over two appointments I'd also have an issue with work, so probably the sooner the better.

On the sex dreams, so glad to hear that's the hormones. That happened to me during the TWW and I was mortified, cos obviously they tell you not to have intercourses in case contractions dislodge the embie. So I was sure my dirty dream would have killed him/her. Fortunately that was 10 days ago so doesn't seem to have been the case!!

Anyone else still awaiting any kind of symptoms? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Chooklass · 07/02/2020 18:23

Ah yes, I see what you mean @BambiOnIce80 👍. I've booked scan day off too 😬.

Viletta · 07/02/2020 18:33

Our clinic suggested abstaining from sex 2-3 days after transfer. Parents who conceive naturally don't abstain so I think it's just a precaution. There is no research suggesting this.

Chooklass · 07/02/2020 18:47

I had the dreams too!

Bestofyou1982 · 07/02/2020 19:08

BambiOnIce80 thanks for the peeing tip! I'm going to give that a whirl. Have been feeling like I need the loo a lot.
Have scan date of 19.02. Worried it seems early and may be no heart beat even if going well, but I've been told 7weeks is right time.
Not told anyone yet apart from head and deputy head at work as they knew about transfer.
Feels strange to think we're all a good few weeks pregnant now. Fingers crossed it stays that way for us all.
Any weekend plans ladies?

FlapJackered · 07/02/2020 21:40

Wise words @BambiOnIce80 I think you're right!

I haven't had any sex dreams, I feel like I am missing out!! 😂

Is anyone else getting the odd twinge in the pelvis area?

Viletta · 07/02/2020 22:21

@FlapJackered I do have occasional twinges, especially after dinner. I think it's quite normal as our uterus is stretching.

@Bestofyou1982 I think we should see heartbeat on week 7. I booked mine on 6w6d next Saturday. Excited and nervous!

BambiOnIce80 · 08/02/2020 00:32

My odd twinges have been quite active this evening at dinner @FlapJackered compared to how mild and occasional they've been so far, but I think @Viletta is right that things will be ramping up a gear and the changes in our uterus' will be well and truly under way now 🤞

The info I've read @Bestofyou1982 has said we'll almost certainly see a heartbeat at 7 weeks, so I think most of us have our viability scans round about then - relax and enjoy! 😊

Well ladies, I had my very first experience of 1st World pregnancy problems tonight 😏 Went for dinner at one of our favourite places which is one of these trendy communal dining affairs with a set 7 course menu that doesn't make any allowances for dietary requirements (which has never been a problem for me before because I'm a greedy cow who'll eat anything! 😋). I could only eat 5 of the courses because one of them was raw scallops and another one was pink meat... DP, however, was in his element because he obviously ended up with 9 courses as a result! 😂 Don't think we'll be going back there anytime in the next 8 months 😏 But at least I've learnt my lesson and I'm going to email the hotel we're staying at next weekend to give them the heads up and avoid another hangry Bambi! 😄
