Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

Johnson says everyone is now being urged to avoid non-essential contact with others

Boris Johnson is speaking now.

He says we need to go further.
Johnson says it looks as though we are approaching the “fast growth” phase of the curve. That means cases are expected to double every five days.
Families are being urged to stay at home for 14 days if any member of the household is ill, Johnson says.
He says it is time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others. That means people should work from home where possible and avoid pubs, clubs and theatres.

Johnson says the advice on people avoiding non-essential contact is particularly important for people who are over-70, for people who are pregnant and for people with underlying health conditions.

DobbieFreeElf · 16/03/2020 17:56

I’m ok on a work front as we run our business from home but my son attends pre-school so do I stop him doing that? My husband does cricket practice and goes to boot camp, should he stop doing that?

I’m also meant to be going to a funeral tomorrow, I guess I now need to make my excuses.

This is probably the hardest time as I still don’t want to tell anyone but if I don’t then I don’t have a legitimate reason, at least if I was 12 weeks I could say so...

Yes, looks like we’re all on lockdown for 3 months!

FlapJackered · 16/03/2020 18:44

Wow! I just watched the press conference. 3 months self isolation! 😱
They said they just don't know the effects of the virus on early pregnancy, they only know that contracting the virus in the 3rd trimester doesn't appear to have negatively impacted outcomes but to be on the safe side they want pregnant women to self-isolate. 😬
What is everyone thinking? Are you going to follow the advice to the letter?

I feel sorry for those with weddings this year. 😕

FlapJackered · 16/03/2020 18:48

@DobbieFreeElf I think to do as BoJo says you would either need to isolate from your ds and DH or they would need to self-isolate with you. Not easy!

FlapJackered · 16/03/2020 18:49

@BambiOnIce80 I am glad you're being well looked after and that you don't have to worry about work. I wish I could change this for you. ❤️

Chooklass · 16/03/2020 19:10

I’m going to work at home for 12 weeks! My DP works outside, mostly alone, so he’s very low risk for passing on. Will still go out for lots of walks as we live in the countryside with not many people around xxx

DobbieFreeElf · 16/03/2020 19:11

@FlapJackered I’d happily self isolate away from them, not sure I’d be very popular! 🤣

Husband said “well I won’t go to cricket but I don’t want to miss out on bootcamp” I think we need to decide what we’re doing. Whether we are all in or all out of isolation...

I wish I had my next scan already because I’d feel a bit more ok telling a few select people if I had. Only 2 friends know currently, we haven’t told our parents or anyone else.

I don’t think the enormity of what we might have to do is going to set in for a while 🤯

rainbow178 · 16/03/2020 20:09

Well I went in today in the end but got a call an hour after Boris spoke telling me absolutely not to come in tomorrow, so that's that decision out of my hands! My manager said the advice was for pregnant women to self isolate for 14 days.....I didn't like to say actually it's 14 WEEKS!! And there was me feeling sorry for my Gran, looks like I'm in the same boat!! My only worry now is will we be able to go to scans/ appointments etc? Quite happy to self isolate if it keeps baby safe (although like someone said below, don't think the realisation of what 14 weeks indoors actually means yet has actually sank in!!)

How's everyone else feeling? I'm regretting going in today, DH is like 'I TOLD you they didn't know enough about it yet'

Russkispy · 16/03/2020 22:31

@BambiOnIce80 I'm so very sad to read your update! So so unfair! I've been in that situation too many times last year and know how you feel! Thinking of you!! And sending you the biggest hugs. You're one strong lady and you'll be ok in the end xx
@Minster2012 I'm also really sorry about your update! It fecking sucks!
@Viletta good luck for tomorrow's scan 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Wimbledon1 · 16/03/2020 22:56

Well that hiatus lasted not much more than 24 hours. I had three emails saying I'd been specifically tagged so had a look and then of course wanted to reply.

Firstly to say @BambiOnIce80 absolutely no need for you to apologise lovely. Nothing to feel guilty about and of course we were going to want to know what had happened to you! The whole world is terrifying me right now. I hadn't said but I also got a call after my first midwife appointment to say they thought from my urine sample I may have gestational diabetes so I was feeling panicky generally and wanted to try and switch off. But no guilt at all required. I'm so sorry you have to go through this and have one less option than normal too. Thinking of you!

@Lily999 since you'd tagged me in for reassurance, you are absolutely right. I have largely been symptom free overall to a ridiculous extent, but at my private nine week scan there was a strong heartbeat and it dated perfectly. Obviously being 10 days ago now and not even half way there to my next scan I'd like another really, but I appreciate you have to stop throwing money at this at some point. 😂

And @FlapJackered I actually DMed you IVF twin to say when I was in the wilderness I hoped you would still send me your news. So my commitment to a detox is probably flaky really.

I would also now like to know the answer to @rainbow178's question below: the guidance says have medical appointments remotely whenever possible but that's pretty difficult when you are pregnant! Is it a bigger risk to go to a hospital in two weeks in mid-outbreak or to miss your 12 week scan? 🤯

DobbieFreeElf · 17/03/2020 06:37

Welcome back @Wimbledon1. Being pregnant is terrifying. I’ve done it a few times with various outcomes and I can promise you my first healthy pregnancy was no less scary than this or any other. But women get pregnant and have babies all over the world. In this country we have a higher chance of a good outcome than probably anywhere else (some citation needed!). Getting past 12 weeks (for me) is just another hurdle in a long line of hurdles since we started this process. From being accepted at ABC, getting my tsh down, tracking follicles, EC, fertilisation, implantation, TWW, BFP, 7 week scan... after the 12 week scan there will still be worries, I haven’t felt it move yet, I’m gaining weight too fast, I haven’t felt it move today, it’s my due date and I’m still pregnant, it’s my first, second, third sweep... then they are born and it gets so much ducking worse again! But the thing is, if you are doing everything you can to clear these hurdles and worry just a rational amount then all that’s left is to have a little bit of faith in your body, your instincts and medical science.

Oh and on top of that the world is imploding right now with some crazy zombie virus but we’ll have to compartmentalise that!

What I’m trying to say is (and don’t get me wrong I’ve wanted to punch people I. The face for saying this in the past)l but) what will be will be. You can only control the controlables.

(I’ve had friends with GD, another hurdle but easily managed if it comes to that)

And yes, when I’m having a freak out later this week I’ll need you all to talk me down 🤣

Viletta · 17/03/2020 13:37

Hi everyone, the scan went well, I'm so relieved. DH though it was not safe going in and though we should have stayed at home but I am just so glad everything is going well. I have cancelled social gatherings (a friend's party at home with only 8 people). I hope the peak will be flattened and hopefully vaccine will be tested soon!

Chooklass · 17/03/2020 14:12

Yay - lovely news! So glad to hear that @Viletta! Must be such a relief. We were going to get an extra scan but have now decided just to wait the next 2 weeks and 6 days (not that I'm counting ...) since the virus chaos is escalating.

FlapJackered · 17/03/2020 14:14

@Viletta that is fantastic news! 🥳 Definitely worth it to be reassured!

@DobbieFreeElf well said! 👏

@Wimbledon1 Acht sorry! Just seen it.

@rainbow178 that is great your manager is on board with it all.

I have just seen the below article, so looks like we can relax a bit about our scans being cancelled which is a relief.

Minster2012 · 17/03/2020 17:14

Hi ladies

Just checking in before I head off tonight
As expected scan showed a non viable pregnancy stopped growing at around 4/5 weeks. There was no way they were letting me have the surgical route unfortunately but after a few hours I managed to speak to my endocrine consultant & get them to works to the gynae one & I got answers on how to manage my life saving steroids during this time at home too.

So having stocked up on the essentials, a Krispy Kreme later & I’m tucked up ironically watching sex education on Netflix 😂

I hope as many of you lovely ladies are working from home wherever possible & my lovely village has given me a good excuse to go into hiding as they know I’m high risk from my cancer so I sent a message out when we cancelled events last night saying I was gonna keep a low profile.

Try not to worry too much, risks are v v low once you’ve seen a heartbeat & im sure the coming months will bring you more news of your little aliens growing into proper wriggling kicking little humanities. Then come October /November you’ll be ready for eviction!!

We think we have a couple of ❄️Left but unsure of what to do currently, I just looked back at my pictures & reminded myself of what is important & it will be your futures too, these pics came up from our OTD of my toddler tyrant carried by my best friend (I don’t mind putting them here) We went to the deep in hull & he was so knackered & he smeared his lovingly homemade vegan choc cake EVERYWHERE it was hilarious
And reinvigorated after a sleep on the way home he was VERY EXCITED at our 6 monthly (& now very well timed) bulk loo roll delivery 🥰

He already wears a lot of 🌈 he will wear more now

Sending love and virtual 2 metre distance hugs to all of you for save and trouble free pregnancies 😊🤗

Wimbledon1 · 17/03/2020 20:33

So sorry to hear this @Minster2012, what sad news. Although I guess not ectopic, not that this is much consolation I am sure.

You sound amazingly strong and I totally respect your attitude and positivity and one day I really hope one of those Frosties becomes a playmate for your DS to boss around. Lovely to see a picture of him, he's a cutie.

As you say, keep focused on what's important, keep safe and well and be happy. Take care 🌈 💓

Viletta · 17/03/2020 22:33

@Minster2012 aww DS is such a cutie! I love the picture of him on the loo rolls laughing! You are right it's important to be grateful for what we have. I hope all the dreams will come true at the right time as well!

FlapJackered · 18/03/2020 14:14

@Minster2012 I am so sorry it wasn't the news you were hoping for. Wishing you every luck with your frosties. Your ds is absolutely gorgeous 😍. Take care of yourself. X

FlapJackered · 18/03/2020 14:16

Over the last few days the bloat has become obscene! I look 8 months pregnant! 🤰 Has anyone else got this issue? Also bad headaches. Not fun! Currently in bed nursing my head. I have no paracetamol in the house and literally every shop has run out. 🙄

Viletta · 18/03/2020 14:57

@FlapJackered I look more or less fine in the mornings but definitely more bloated than usual in the evenings. What week are you on now?

FlapJackered · 18/03/2020 17:48

@Viletta I am 10+5 now, and just read that bloating can ramp up in week 10-11.
Where are you now week-wise?

QuantumGirl · 18/03/2020 18:42

@FlapJackered I also feel bloated at 9+5 and can't stop burping after meals 🤭. Always have a mild headache that seems to be part of my life.

Are you girls making sure you are all drinking enough water? I wasn't and realised it declined since I started wfh. I'm trying to make sure I have 6 glasses every day.

@Minster2012 so sorry to hear about your news 💔. Your little one on the toilet paper bag made me laugh 🧻.

@Viletta thank you for sharing your news and congratulations. I needed to hear some good news for a change x

Viletta · 18/03/2020 18:48

@FlapJackered I am 11+4 can't wait to stop progesterone at 12w

Still eating a ton of fruit daily, luckily people who stockpile seem to not care about fresh produce so fruit and veg shelves seem to be full.

@QuantumGirl I was just thinking about not drinking enough. At best I have 3 pints of water and 4 cups of decaf tea. It helps adding lemon to my water.

Have you two seen your midwife yet? I am seeing mine on Friday and wondering if we'll be discussing birth plans or is it way too early

Littlelot · 18/03/2020 19:01

Hi, just wanted to check in again. Been laying low recently as I had a week off with a horrible cough and achy body, no temp thank goodness but felt quite horrid for a while. Feel okay now though. So sorry to those who’ve had bad news recently, I won’t tag in case you’ve already removed yourself, if you’re still reading I just want to echo others about how helpful the miscarriage boards are and also your clinic should provide counselling mine was brilliant and did sessions via skype if needed.

@Viletta so glad you had a good scan! It’s really good to have some positive news to keep us going at this time. With everything going crazy in the world I was becoming a bit anxious.

I have my 12 week scan next Thursday and my midwife called today to say it was still going ahead but I may have to go alone as dh will have to look after our ds as we have to minimise people going to the hospital. The closer it gets the more nervous I feel.

@FlapJackered I’m not doing too badly for bloat but the nausea is horrible!! I just end up laid in the bath for ages (somehow eases the sickness!).

Hope everyone is coping with social distancing and new measures. What a strange time to be pregnant. I’m glad I’m not having to go to school tomorrow. Not quite sure what the Yr11 groups will do now they know they don’t have to sit exams! What’s the point for them now. Ah well. Take care everyone xxx
