Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

@Minster2012 love the socks and Doc Martins! And you also have a lovely mani! Keeping everything crossed for the hcg results!!

@BambiOnIce80 I think you've made the right decision! When would you receive the results? Will they be able to tell the gender? I noticed shortness of breath when I go up hill or stairs and sometimes my heart starts beating a bit faster. I am sure il bambino won't mind you having a bit of a stressy time, he's busy growing and getting all cosy. Also placenta is now there to bodyguard him. My scan is booked for the 23d and the midwife is coming home on the 20th. I'll ask her about risk of cancellations.

@DobbieFreeElf Love the eyes on the cupcakes:) I definitely developed a sweet tooth these couple of weeks.

@Wimbledon1 And @Chooklass It does sound very surreal having Corona babies. I think I'm still in denial thinking this pandemic will be contained and not very damaging to the population. DH is all stressed out. Didn't even cross my mind about antenatal classes being cancelled. My employer said I can work from home any time, it was good that I told them early after all. I was also hoping to buy a second hand pram but now when the virus is around possibly second hand things are bad idea.

I have really sore boobs and ever so slight nausea. I still sleep on my belly and it feels so flat (covered with my usual fat but nothing more). Can't wait to see the babe again at 12w scan. Not long to wait now!

BambiOnIce80 · 13/03/2020 22:07

I think it's called the 'swan effect' @Minster2012 -we're gliding along gracefully on the surface and paddling like mental underneath! 😂 It's the contingency planning (that kicks in next week) that I've never seen anything like before. We are already seeing problems with the supply chain, let alone what might happen with staffing (just from if they shut the schools, never mind if everyone starts calling in sick 😣). Having to think about calling in staff who have just retired or are on mat leave - nothing is off limits for if it really hits the fan... but hopefully it won't 🔮🤞I'm raising my 0% Heineken to your 0% Kopperberg and keeping everything crossed for your hCG result tomorrow 🍻

@Viletta my (proper!) scan should be 4 days after yours 🙂 It'd be good to know what your midwife thinks about the risk of postponing scans, thank you 😘 There is the option to find out the gender from the NIPT, but I've put a great big cross in the 'no thanks' box for that one ✖️😉 I still really don't want to find out until when/if birth comes around 🙈 Will you be finding out when the chance comes?x

Absolutely @Chooklass 💖 I don't know what I'd do without you lot, especially in these strange times.x

Aww thank you @Viletta my mani actually matches my hair currently! I decided to go pink & purple just before our ET day thinking it might distract ppl!!

@BambiOnIce80 chin chin!! So you aren’t finding out the gender, interesting! Are you @Viletta? You should hear pretty quickly, we did within 2 days I think for ours!

@DobbieFreeElf 10 days is nothing, and no more bleeding and taking care of yourself is the best thing to do

@Viletta I wouldn’t say a second hand pram is anything to worry about if all the fabrics can be removed and washed, and then the frames can be cleaned thoroughly, most first time mums I know end up hating their prams/travel systems & they are so expensive. We have babyjogger prams (a running one which stays up in the house for dog walking & jogging) & a smaller one for in car & the fabrics can all come off & be put in the washing machine & most times come up like new but I can understand your concern.

Right off to bed 🤞🏻🤞🏻

DobbieFreeElf · 14/03/2020 07:02

What do you all think of the name Corona...?! 🤣🤣🤣

@BambiOnIce80 my first was a surprise sec wise, seems to be the exception rather than the norm now but I loved not knowing. That said throughout my whole pregnancy I was sure he was a boy so it didn’t feel like a big surprise! We would do that again, there’s very few things you can be genuinely surprised by nowadays and that is the ultimate!

Obviously the first thing he’s asked for this morning was a cupcake, although I’ve said absolutely not he’s brought the box with the cupcakes in into the living room and is sitting beside them! Wishful thinking 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Minster2012 just another wait! It seems like I’ve been waiting on something or other the whole of 2020 so far! X

Minster2012 · 14/03/2020 08:31

I thought that last night of saying I wonder if there will be any babies called “corona” in 2020!!

Mmmm cupcake for breakfast, totally legitimate

Viletta · 14/03/2020 10:46

First case of newborn with coronovirus in London www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/14/newborn-baby-tests-positive-for-coronavirus-in-london

Hope both mother and baby are safe!

Viletta · 14/03/2020 10:53

@Minster2012 I can't wait to find out the gender, I think it'll help me plan for the future and get used to the idea. Also I'm just impatient:)) Good to know that pram can be all washed, I'll see what happens in 3 trimester with the pandemic I was thinking of buying lots second hand to help recycling and reduce costs too (+help parents get some of their money back). I had bright red and purple hair in my 20s, loved it! Fingers crossed for today!

rainbow178 · 14/03/2020 11:26

Hey ladies, sorry to have been a bit quiet on here recently. Hope you're all well.
@Minster2012 is it today you get results? Good luck if so.

Currently having a panic about corona- was meant to go out for a meal last night and decided not to to avoid unnecessary touching- contact and my DH wants me to think about not going to work next week- teacher- and I just Don't know what to do!! I agree but also think, I can't just take 8 months off, but surely schools will shut soon? I just don't know. And when I've been reading about why schools aren't closing, it seems to be because there would be no one to look after the kids- not particularly to protect anyone so I be feel like I should protect myself and baby!? What do you guys think!?

Viletta · 14/03/2020 11:54

@rainbow178 I have decided to work from home next week and DH too (luckily our companies allow this) to see how the situation develops. Would your school ask children to self isolate if anyone in their household has symptoms? I think you should think about yourself and baby first. It's not that you are an NHS worker and you not coming to work would jeopardize the system.

Minster2012 · 14/03/2020 12:09

Yes today get the results, I was told to chase if not heard by 10, so I did, nurse answered & said the results haven’t been reviewed by a doctor, but she logged on....long pause...took my DOB, confirmed address...massively long pause so was obviously looking at results in front of her.... then said “how are you feeling, in yourself?” Errrr “ok but obviously nervous & just want to know what’s going on!” She said yes but I can’t say, The results need to be reviewed by a doctor & they are on another ward doing ward round then they have EPU clinic do I don’t know why you were told if not heard by 10 to phone so we will phone you later with the results”.

Obviously that exchange does not sound positive. And again waiting. We cancelled plans with friends today so total limbo with a very active 19month old to entertain when both DH & I are very miserable & still waiting in horrible limbo

Our DS is also very much a daddy’s boy & literally when DH is around he pushes me away & shouts “daddy daddy daddy” as my DH just said “I’m afraid you aren’t good enough” 😥

Minster2012 · 14/03/2020 12:15

@rainbow178 personally I would go in until they close the schools, we aren’t actually higher risk just for being pregnant & I think as long as you keep doing everything you can to protect yourself then that’s fair enough & it’s reasonable to put plans in place for the children you teach which is what the teachers round here are working hard to do
That being said if you are allowed to then 🤷‍♀️

BambiOnIce80 · 14/03/2020 13:17

NHS worker here 🙋‍♀️ We've been told that pregnant staff are not to enter 'red' areas of the hospital (where confirmed Covid19 cases are residing) or to work with patients who are confirmed or high risk of Covid19. Everything else is continuing as normal 👍 My understanding of the scientific rationale for not shutting the schools at the moment (because, let's face it, it'll be coming at this rate) is that the risk simply isn't high enough at the moment to cause such a level of chaos at this stage. Despite all the media frenzy and panic buying, I'm still pretty optimistic that this'll be over in 3-4 months and the measures that the government are putting in should hopefully help the NHS be able to cope with the extra clinical burden 🤞 I know it's not easy, but I think we have every reason to try and stay calm at this stage ❤️

I'm so sorry that they're not giving you a straight answer yet @Minster2012 💐 If it's any consolation, it doesn't necessarily have to be bad news. I've been in a situation where I needed to take an HIV test due to a blood splash injury at work (which was the last time I got stress-induced dyspnoea 🙄) and I rang for the result at my GP surgery. The (lovely) receptionist said that the result was available, but the GP wanted to give it to me - so I obviously totally freaked out! 😵 The receptionist said "I can't tell you the result because the doctor has said specifically that she wants to talk to you, but try not to worry " 🤯 The GP called me back 30 minutes later to tell me that the result was negative 😪 When I asked her why the receptionist couldn't have given me the result she said that she knew I was so worried that she wanted to tell me the good news herself! WTAF! 🤦‍♀️I'm hoping your result is a procedural thing too 🤞🍀

That's great that you can work from home @Viletta 😊 My boss says after next week he's thinking of asking myself and the manager I work opposite to take it in turns working from home (1 week at home, 1 week in the lab, then repeat), just so we can keep one of us "safe" at any given time in case staffing really hits the fan and then whichever of us is OK can step in... Let's hope it doesn't come to that, of course 🔮 Good to have a contingency plan though 👍

That's exactly how I feel about finding out the gender before il bambino arrives @DobbieFreeElf - there's so few nice surprises in life! I'm looking forward to picking out both boys and girls names and buying neutral baby stuff 😊 If I knew the sex I'd have them kitted out up to the age of 10 before we even hit the 3rd trimester! 😂 DP wanted to know to start with (he'd open all his Christmas presents on Christmas eve if I'd let him! 🙄), but he sees where I'm coming from and he likes the idea of the surprise now... Just need to get past the results of this NIPT blood test first 💉 🧪🔮

Minster2012 · 14/03/2020 13:37

Awww thank you @BambiOnIce80 obviously mine & DHs heads both immediately went to ‘if the numbers were doubled she wouldn’t ask that but if you had a bad pregnancy inside you & felt like it was about to explode I might need to try & find a doctor sooner” 😬🤔but I very much hope you are right and I like your approach to Corona too I’m trying to be relatively chilled though my hands are cracking up 😂😂

Minster2012 · 14/03/2020 17:26

Going batshit crazy here
I just phoned and it was engaged now no ones answering

Minster2012 · 14/03/2020 17:37

Got through to a nurse again, she said “sorry we’ve been really busy on the acute side” the doctor is with a patient I will ask him to review your results & call afterwards

Assuming more cases don’t come in then

I’m also assuming I’m not an acute case IF someone would have picked up on that??? Do we think????

DobbieFreeElf · 14/03/2020 17:46

@minster2012 you would hope that if they were worried they would have contacted you x

Minster2012 · 14/03/2020 17:56

@DobbieFreeElf I’m really hoping so 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Viletta · 14/03/2020 19:29

@Minster2012 erch it would have been so much easier if she could just tell you the bloody number. I am guessing with the pandemic anything related to early pregnancy is not a priority for them...
I hope somehow it's a good sign for you that everything's okay and you don't need to do anything for now.
someone on a coronovirus and pregnancy thread said they won't let them have the ultrasound as they had a temperature a week ago..

Minster2012 · 14/03/2020 20:38

So had the call and HCG gone from 1420 to 1542
It’s basically gone but not gone
Not really growing I think but don’t really now
Yeah she said “it’s gone up but not enough to show a viable pregnancy but it has gone up but nowhere near doubled”
Undertone was not viable but don’t know why
Got to go back on Tuesday for another scan & maybe more bloods

Minster2012 · 14/03/2020 20:40

They think the cyst is a blood cyst but need to check

FlapJackered · 15/03/2020 06:48

@Minster2012 I am so sorry, not what you wanted to hear but not a definitive answer either. Did the say if they thought it may be ectopic or not?
It's very hard to be in limbo for so long. Look after yourself. X

@BambiOnIce80 that sounds like a very sensible attitude to it all. My friend who works in science research has said they are expecting the peak to be in May/June. I can see it happening sooner than that though with the way Italy and Spain exploded. 😬
I went to London yesterday and there doesn't seem to be much change in people going to cafes/out on the street etc, so I think unless there is an enforced lock down a lot of people won't avoid work/public places etc.

@rainbow178 I am trying not to let myself get too worried about it either as you say we can hardly self isolate for the next 8 months! It is hard though!
It may be inevitable we all get it but I reckon if we just try and keep 2 metres from people as much as possible and wash our hands lots, I think that is our best bet at not catching it.

@DobbieFreeElf @BambiOnIce80 I am all for waiting to find out the sex too. But my DH wants to know which is tricky. We just went to see one of my BFs and she said that it is much better knowing at the scan as it feels more of a surprise, as at the birth you're just tired and don't care! I am more on the fence now 😬 I think maybe I will wait and decide before the 20 week scan.

I have had my scan date through for exactly 12 weeks which is a relief as I was worried it would be late. 27th March! It is just a few days before my birthday though so I really hope it is good news!

Viletta · 15/03/2020 10:14

@Minster2012 sorry that you are still in limbo. I though they said they saw a gestational sac in the uterus, doesn't this rule out ectopic? How are you feeling? I guess best to be prepared for both outcomes but there is still hope, hcg is rising and possibly different laboratories might have different results somehow.. I read after 1200 miu/ml it might take longer to double. Oh it must be so stressful. Take care of yourself.xx

BambiOnIce80 · 15/03/2020 13:23

I'm so sorry that you've still not got a straight answer @Minster2012 😔 I hope it's good news come Tuesday 🤞🍀🤞🍀

We went out and about in town here yesterday @FlapJackered and it looked like business as usual with the amount of people about (except for the empty shelves here and there 🙄). I oddly want it to peak sooner rather than later so that we can get it out of the way and get back to normal ASAP! I'm so impatient! 😬

OP posts:
Wimbledon1 · 15/03/2020 13:48

@BambiOnIce80 do you have your blood tests today? Good luck if so!! And then how long to get the results, is it quicker privately?

@Minster2012 what a nightmare that this is all so uncertain and you are still in limbo, I'm so sorry. I know she intimated it is not good but I'm sure you still can't help all scenarios going mad in your mind. So sorry, keep looking after yourself. Xx

@FlapJackered - that's great you have the scan bang on 12 weeks! I have my best friend's wedding on the 28th (in theory, though imagine she might be cancelling it anyway) so I really wanted that day too to make it easier. But now I'm just grateful that it's within the 12th week, and not on 13+5!! 😬😬

I'm starting to feel things are a little quieter out and about, and what I think is really interesting is how much flack the government are taking from some scientists and other informed people about not being strict enough. I think there might be a cave-in soon and then all of our decisions about work might be taken out of our hands. I'm going to go in as normal this week but sort of feel it will be the last week....

Viletta · 15/03/2020 14:49

@BambiOnIce80 I think it's going to peak when we are in 2d trimester which would be perfect as less damage for the baby if we get it and it's likely to go away by the tie we deliver.
