Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

Ah, so happy for you @bambionice, another huge milestone put behind you! Hope everything turned out to be ok for the other couple as well, it is really nerve wracking for sure :( Did you hear or just see the heartbeat? Not sure what to expect I will be 7weeks +1day on my scan.
Hope you have some plans to celebrate and does it mean you are telling other people as well now? My DH insists we don't tell anyone before that scan that makes me look forward to it even more (if that was even humanly possible).

BambiOnIce80 · 18/02/2020 14:49

OMG that was such a me, me, me post! 😳 Catching up with all your news now!

A very warm welcome to you @DobbieFreeElf

This is a big day for you, deserves a ME! post :)

Viletta · 18/02/2020 14:57

@BambiOnIce80 congratulations!! So pleased for you! Isn't it amazing to see her growing from just a bunch of cells! Did they do a transvaginal or abdominal ultrasound?

BambiOnIce80 · 18/02/2020 15:14

Posted too soon! Fat fingers! 🤦‍♀️

We're not telling any family @Lily999 until we find out our trisomy risk shortly after the 12 week scan (I'm 39, so a bit paranoid about being high risk - there's always something to worry about 😏). I have told the lady at the deli at the end of our road though because I've been quizzing her about whether the ricotta in her cannoli is pasteurised or not and if the salami could be frozen and then defrosted for my sandwich?! I didn't want her to think I was some crazy, high maintenance nightmare! 😄 We didn't hear the heartbeat (it was the internal US, so not sure if that'd be possible? 🤔), but it was still awesome seeing it flickering away 💓 🥰 And I know it's easy to say, but please try not to worry about stopping the progesterone ❤️ Like a few of us, you've gotten further than you've ever gotten before, so there's really no reason to think that your body won't already be churning it's own progesterone out, like it should be.x

@Viletta please remind me what they said your EDD was? Mine hasn't really changed, so ours is 07.10.20 🤞

It must be really tough with what you've been through @MrsLouB but I'm keeping everything crossed that this is your time 🤞🍀

How did you get on with chasing the midwife up @FlapJackered?x

Only 8 days left @Chooklass! 🤩 I actually feel kind of sad leaving the Simpsons Centre behind 😢 They've been brilliant 💖

How are you feeling @QuantumGirl my lovely?x

I also honestly don't know how/if I would have coped with not having the 7 week scan and having to just wait for the 12 @Wimbledon1! 🤯 I know it's still early days, but seeing that little flicker of a heartbeat is something special (and a flipping relief!).x

BambiOnIce80 · 18/02/2020 15:21

Oh, and @Lily999 I'm still waking up in the middle of the night, but usually because my bladder just can't make it through to the morning anymore! 😂 More often than not I'm managing to get back to sleep relatively quickly though, so that's something to look forward to at least! 😴

Viletta · 18/02/2020 15:56

Mine was 04/10 initially and now changed to 3/10. So ever so slightly ahead:) I didn't hear the heartbeat either but it was lovely to see it. As it was a private scan we also got a video. Unlike you both families and close friends know as they followed IVF. But not as many people as the last time. It's only people that I would share bad news if anything happens.

Lily999 · 18/02/2020 15:57

Oh, thanks, so it does get better. I am running out of clothes though that cover my huge bloated belly, have noticed for the last 3weeks I have been wearing the same 4tops for work circulating, but I am really hoping the bloat goes away as well...

So so happy for you must be great to have a due date so the countdown is really ON :)
Like the story about the ricotta, can't wait to tell people out loud, imagine will give me an adrenaline boost.

@FlapJackered I called them yesterday and haven't hear anything back yet, did you wait for a week before following it up?

MrsLouB · 18/02/2020 16:03

@BambiOnIce80 such amazing news and so please for you !! :-) thank you i can but wait until next tuesday.

@Lily999 lol you sound just like me i am so bloated i look more like i am 6 months pregnant !

Chooklass · 18/02/2020 16:26

Oh yay!!! Awesome news @BambiOnIce80!! 😍🥳. I know, I can’t imagine not regularly going to the Simpson 🤞, they have been really great throughout the IVF journey. I had a few issues before that but all been great since (actually since we started paying 🤔😂)

Interesting what you said about cysts - I suspect same with me. I already had big endo cyst on one ovary, and other ovary is polycystic intermittently, and some of my pain is defo ovaries. Makes me slightly less worried its ectopic now, though it would have to be ectopic twins with one on each side as pain is both sided 😂

twinkleyes35 · 18/02/2020 16:49

Wow what an amazing news 🥳🥳🥳@BambiOnIce80 so emotional seeing your tiny bambino scan pic so beautiful 😍... just can't wait to see mine it's 2 weeks away foreevrrrrrr 🤞

Not sure if anyone is same as me but I have lost almost all the symptoms apart from being really really tired doing nothing 🤪

Lily999 · 18/02/2020 17:03

Why are we doing this to ourselves? Worrying over everything.... the idea of an ectopic just creeps into your head and refuses to go away. :( I wish there were more and obvious signs at 5weeks, it's cruel that an ectopic can go up until the scan undetected. started this day with so much positivity and now suddenly I am convinces I have an ectopic. This is insane, the pregnancy is messing with our heads :)

@twinkleyes35 I am also tired all the time, I assumed it was due to the progesterone, but then maybe not.?

Chooklass · 18/02/2020 17:56

I continued to be really tired after stopping progesterone! Now I’m just tired from my own progesterone, not the meds!

FlapJackered · 18/02/2020 18:07

@BambiOnIce80 I am so happy for you!! Look at that happy little bub cooking away! 😍❤️ it must be such a relief to have got through the first scan.
I did call them back yesterday but it is just an answering machine, they did say to leave my address (which I didn't do first time 🤦‍♀️) and they may not call back but just send me an appointment by post which might be why I hadn't heard back. 🤷‍♀️ I have left another message so 🤞 I hear something soon.

@Lily999 yes I waited a week but I forgot to put my address on the answer phone message and they did say they might just post through an appointment and not call, so that might be my fault. I am sure you'll hear back soon. Maybe give it to the end of the week?
I am so with you on the bloat! I look 6 months pregnant already. 🤰

DobbieFreeElf · 18/02/2020 18:53

Hey guys, not sure if any of you have any knowledge or experience of this but I’m completely freaking out. My TSH last jan was just over the recommended 2.5 and before I started treatment I had it retested and I was up to 3.2. My clinic wanted it down below 2.5 before I started treatment and, by taking daily medication, in early January it was 1.35. I’ve just got my follow up result and it’s rocketed up to 3.9 and I’m panicking. I was told anything above 2.5 increases the risk of miscarriage. I tried calling the clinic and it was already closed so I won’t be able to talk to them until tomorrow. I’ve cried lots but I know I can’t do anything until tomorrow.

FlapJackered · 18/02/2020 19:00

@DobbieFreeElf I could have written your exact post last week! Mine had shot up too (apparently it does in pregnancy and your dose should be altered accordingly) I panicked and cried a lot and started self prescribing splitting my pills to add an extra 25mcg until I could speak to my gp. When I did manage to get a message to my gp she upped my dose by 25mcg to retest in 6 weeks. If I were you I would self prescribe tomorrow morning then ring your Gp/clinic and get a rush on a prescription. Try not to worry, although I know it is hard, the good thing is you have found out early and can get it sorted. X

Viletta · 18/02/2020 19:03

@Lily999 I think it's quite rare for ectopic to go unnoticed. And a quite rare occasion for the blast to migrate after transfer. It's best not to get into the having of worrying by entertaining the worst case scenario, it's not in our control and worrying would only make you feel miserable. At the moment everything is good:)

Lily999 · 18/02/2020 19:18

Thank you @Viletta, I really needed to hear that right now. And now back to positivity! :)

DobbieFreeElf · 18/02/2020 19:20

Thank you @FlapJackered, honestly I was completely floored when I got the result, I’m on 50 5x a week and 25 2x. Tomorrow is a 25 day but I will take a 50 and hopefully the clinic will call me early and let me know what else we can do. I did just have a quick google about TSH increasing during IVF and it seems that it is very common for the IVF hormones to have this impact on TSH. I just keep now thinking I’m just waiting to miscarry and I only found out I am pregnant yesterday 😭 will try not to be so melodramatic and worry... yeah right!

Wimbledon1 · 18/02/2020 21:50

Wow, this been a busy day on the thread!!

Firstly, huge congratulations @BambiOnIce80 ❤️ How exciting and I also think it lovely that Dad shed a bit of a tear too! Bambino is also a wonderful nickname for embie!

Sad to hear about your next door bed buddy though. Perhaps it was just a case of there being a heartbeat but it being a little small? Else surely she'd have come out much more upset? 🤞🏻 It makes me sad to think of her going in so excited. I think I might be going in with terrified tears to be honest, quite convinced nothing is going to be there! Because yes @twinkleyes35 - I've lost all symptoms too. 😬

@Lily999 if it is there and beating on Friday I am going to start telling a few people. Like @Viletta says, it's about who you'd talk to if it went wrong I think. Sadly in my group of friends there's been an exceptionally high (I reckon about two thirds) rate of miscarriage and people have been quite open about it, so think I would do. But just do what feels right for you, there are no rules 😊

I also think the ectopic pregnancy thing is best avoided thinking about. I've read stuff that it is more likely in IVF babies but surely that is physically impossible because the egg isn't going down the Fallopian tube? So why would it get stuck there? Makes no sense!

And finally (at the end of my very long post, sorry) a personal question....is anyone else noticing their boobs are not growing evenly? One of mine is definitely ballooning out a bit but the other looks normal! This (for once) isn't something I'm worried about, but I do find it a bit curious and a bit gross 🤣 Hoping if my pregnancy continues that they even out at some point!!

Wimbledon1 · 18/02/2020 21:53

Oh and sorry @DobbieFreeElf - it to ignore your concerns, I just have no experience of this. (In fact I had to google what TSH was). But sounds like @FlapJackered had the same thing and was ok so try not to panic and have a good chat with the DR in the morning

FlapJackered · 19/02/2020 07:11

@DobbieFreeElf I found this article which is reassuring that we are doing the right thing in increasing our dose. Just make sure you get regular TsH tests now.
www.thyroid.org/patient-thyroid-information/ct-for-patients/october-2016/vol-9-issue-10-p-5-6/

@Wimbledon1 mine are definitely ballooning but are the same size at the moment. I have heard it is totally normal to have one larger than the other though! 🍈 🍈 😂

My SIL had an ectopic and was in a lot of pain at 6 weeks when she had to go to hospital. I think if you're past the 6 week mark and not getting any pain then it's most likely not ectopic. It is quite rare to have an ectopic pregnancy too I think.

BambiOnIce80 · 19/02/2020 08:02

My left boob is definitely ahead of my right boob @Wimbledon1! 😂 I don't really mind though - I'm an A cup so the novelty of looking like I have actual boobs is awesome! 😁

Ahhh, so the address was missing for your appointment letter @FlapJackered - that makes sense 👍 Hopefully it'll be winging it's way to you before the week is out 📨

On the telling family front, this is probably going to make us sound massively 🙊 dysfunctional, but we wouldn't lean on our families if it was bad news 😬😳 We'd definitely need our closest friends though, so that's why they knew about the IVF and everything since... I guess everyone's family dynamic is different 🙂

That's exactly it @Chooklass! The 'dull to sharp ache' pain on my right (ovary, I now realise 😏) is entirely different to the few mild cramps I've occasionally been getting on my left (il bambino, I now realise!). The cysts are supposed to be mega common after all the drugs from a fresh cycle have done their work, so nothing to worry about 👍 Now that we realise that Sprocket was actually a bloody cyst though, a name change was certainly in order! 😂 Bambino seems apt, with DP being Italian and my username, it kind of works on 2 levels 😁

DobbieFreeElf · 19/02/2020 08:34

Thank you @FlapJackered I’ve taken 50 this morning and I’ll hopefully talk to ABC soon. Are you being tested and medicated through the GP or the clinic?

Same with us @BambiOnIce, we haven’t told either of our parents that we were even having ivf and we won’t be saying anything to them until 12 weeks. There’s only 2 people we have told, our closest couple friend and another very close friend who had her DS through IVF and her guidance throughout was invaluable. We won’t tell anyone else until we get to 12 weeks, if we get there... Congratulations on your scan! What a cute bambino!

Lily999 · 19/02/2020 10:36

Well, this morning I ended up staring at my boobs in the mirror trying to compare them I think that was the point when I realised life is so much different now :D
I am a B cup normally, now they are larger, but I don't think anyone would notice them over my DD cup sized belly! Ovia told me that the embryo is the size of a black peppercorn and I kept staring at my stomach thinking no way something of that size would be able to do this to me :)

Thanks @FlapJackered, I am at 5weeks today, so hopefully everything goes well over the next week and I can forget about the ectopic nonsense. @Wimbledon1 I am also not sure how the embie could end up in the tube especially that they used embryo glue to make it stick, so fingers crossed it' in the right place.

@DobbieFreeElf sorry to hear about your TSH, I do have a family history of thyroid issues and got my TSH checked before TTC, it was 1.52 and my mom told me to keep monitoring it because she started having problems during her first pregnancy, so you are doing the right thing keeping an eye on it. (Her pregnancy was fine, resulting my healthy sister than followed by me 5years later, so please try not to worry too much).
