Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

In 2 days I would have had my second period and I have some mild cramps today, I heard these periods are the most dangerous. Eeeek, staying positive and strong though!

lls1990 · 19/02/2020 12:44

Hello

Got a bfp this morning! I'm really excited but understanding of the risks. My DH though has put up the barriers and said he can't be excited for a while longer and wants me to do another test tomorrow to be sure! I know his way will probably mean more protected if the worse does happen but I just think we've waited 5 years to see anything other than blank on a test and even if this doesn't work out I can still take it as a positive that it's the furthest we've ever got and at least there's hope for my eggs (this was the last cycle before they recommended a donor).

We've got the scan booked for 10th March x

Viletta · 19/02/2020 13:01

@lls1990 it's a massive step forward! We got our bfp on the 4th ET and it was amazing! I think you can celebrate one way or another it implanted and it's great! Congratulations!

Minster2012 · 19/02/2020 13:43

Hi! Also checking in after BFP this morning
Still in shock
My OTD is Friday which is the full 14dp5dt but did it today at 12days as it’s my day off and Friday I’m seeing MIL & misery guts nephew so wanted to be able to relax if needed
Turns out no symptoms shocker again 😂🤣

Minster2012 · 19/02/2020 13:46

@lls1990 you’ve got a scan booked already I’m so jealous. If I can get one for the 9th that would be amazing as I have an eye appointment at same hospital that day so wouldn’t raise suspicion and childcare for DS already sorted 🤞🏻Would be too good to be true of course. Going into clinic on Friday

I’ve seen a few ppl getting prescriptions for medication elsewhere- can you do this for both pessaries & oestrogen? How do you do this please?

Viletta · 19/02/2020 13:58

@Minster2012 I've just contacted my GP saying that I got bfp after IVF and need to continue the following meds. Got a private prescription for both estrogen and progesterone pessaries and got them in boots

Minster2012 · 19/02/2020 14:09

Thank you @Viletta we’re you able to do it quickly Cos I need meds from Friday which is my OTD so my clinic would be expecting to give them to me then? Can I ask how much it was at boots?

lls1990 · 19/02/2020 14:50

I just called the clinic to me my result as they asked @Minster2012 and they just said congratulations, told me the nurses would be ordering me more medication and then said my scan is the 10th March and gave me a choice of times! I was still very much in shock and the whole conversation is a blur! As far as I know I don't need to go to the clinic at all until the 10th so just so paranoid something will go wrong between now and then

Viletta · 19/02/2020 15:04

@Minster2012 they had estrogen straight away and had to order progesterone for the next day. GP produced a prescription same day. I ordered a bit more than I needed just have extra just in case and paid around £50. I think progesterone was about £6-8 a pack. And estrogen possibly £15 or so.. samish price I paid in fertility2u pharmacy

BambiOnIce80 · 19/02/2020 15:52

Apparently il bambino is the size of a blueberry at the moment @Lily999 (7+1), which is massively bigger than the red lentil that it was last week - I'm loving the food comparisons! 🍇😂 That's interesting that you had embryo 'glue' - that was on my wish list for next time if this cycle had been a BFN 👍

We can have a little role reversal @Viletta and I'll be the positive one for you whilst you're having a wobble! 💓 My science brain (🧠 🤓) actually isn't worried about when AF should have been and, let's face it, I worry about absolutely everything! 😂 Logically, our hormones are through the roof doing all the pregnancy related stuff, so we're no longer in a menstrual cycle, iyswim? So it's not like our hormones are going to drop off and trigger AF because it's been another 28 days, because the mini-me/placenta/yolk sac are keeping our progesterone/oestrogen nice and high to prevent it 👍

Welcome @Minster2012 and @lls1990! Lovely to see you over here 😊

TMI question of the day that I can only ask you guys: are you finding you get a pain when you're desperate for a wee at the moment?! 😳 I was stuck in a conversation at work this morning (so couldn't excuse myself to get to the loo!) and I suddenly got a kind of stabby pain 😕 It happened the other day in the same circumstances too. Not sure if it's my bladder or maybe my mildly swollen uterus rubbing shoulders with my painfully full bladder?! 🤔

Had a lot more cramps today :( never really felt cramps before other than when I first wake up which I put down to hunger anyway. Now I'm getting worried that now I've had the bfp it won't be there tomorrow. My logical brain says I'm just over thinking everything now and probably just didn't even register them yesterday but I don't know. It just doesn't seem right

Lily999 · 19/02/2020 16:51

@BambiOnIce80 I love the food examples as well :) Are you using Flo or Ovia? Ovia also gives me tips about what to eat, like a personal nutritioner :) Yes, apparently Ninewells use the embryo glue now, they started it last year. The embryologist explained it is something they are using now to see how it works out, collect data, then will make a decision whether to keep it or not. We didn't have a choice, so just happily accepted it. :)
I am feeling more relaxed about not using progesterone, it gets better every day as I go along, do feel like the bloat will never go away, will just turn into a pregnant tummy about 4 months from now :).

Viletta · 19/02/2020 17:29

@BambiOnIce80 thank you, this calmed me right down! Makes total sense actually:) plus I'm still on all the meds. DH and are are going out for dinner and then cinema today. I read you should try and fit in all the things you won't be able to do with the babe in the first months (Years?) 😊

@lls1990 cramping is a normal thing as the uterus grows, they say until they are not more painful than af it's nothing to worry about. They also usually come and go during the day.

BambiOnIce80 · 19/02/2020 18:02

I'm using flo @Lily999, because I'm android and it seemingly didn't try to automatically convert me to a premium account when I changed the settings to 'pregnancy mode'! 🤰💸😳 Does nice little daily updates like that, but they're American and very focused on 'OBGYNs' and a private health care system that doesn't really compute to Blighty and the good old NHS 🙄 I've signed up for the free MN pregnancy tracker updates too and that sends a detailed lists of facts and does and don'ts every week for our gestation as well - that's been really helpful because it's British! 🇬🇧😂

Enjoy your date night @Viletta ! 😍 We're doing very similar with trying to cram in a lot of restaurants that we won't be able to go to in the first months (years! 😭).

Like @Viletta says @lls1990, we're all getting cramps coming and going and it is quite scary at first. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong unless they got worse than your usual AF cramps though.x

Just saw the question about when you need to pee @BambiOnIce80 and YES!! I've noticed this from very early on. It's like a hot rod in your middle if you try and hold it. I figured my bladder is getting squashed up by the bloating and as DH said, if this works out, that ain't getting any better 🤣

The different apps are interesting then, because Ovia that @Lily999 and I are using has mine at a blueberry at 6+4 and that's been the case since I hit the 6 mark. But Flo has done it at 7 weeks? Are they dating the weeks differently on the two apps?! 🤔

Minster2012 · 19/02/2020 22:31

Well I phoned my clinic today after ppl saying about getting meds elsewhere & im gonna be short of time on Friday & need them on that day & they said they can’t do a prescription to take to GP or elsewhere so 🤷‍♀️Anyway £200 later I have the meds & scan booked for 18th March which is an age away but they only do the scan at some point after the full 3weeks post transfer so my FET Was 7th feb so could only be w/c 16th March 😫so I’ve got late on 18th. Oh well. 🤞🏻They say that at transfer it’s 2 weeks, then calculate due date from there that sound right?

BambiOnIce80 · 20/02/2020 07:40

Just to throw another tracker update into the mix @Lily999 @Wimbledon1 - the MN one says blueberry for 7 weeks too! 🍇😂

OMG yes @Wimbledon1 , red hot poker is exactly what it's like! In the nicest possible way, I'm glad it's not just me! 😂

I put my ET date into the flo ivf due date calculator @Minster2012 and it worked it out for me (because mental maths is not my strong point! 😬). It said the 6th of October and my scan said the 7th of October, so it wasn't far off 🔮

And sleep?? Oh and I see MIL tomorrow and gotta act NORMAL 🙈🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

MrsLouB · 20/02/2020 08:07

Hi ladies so i had an urgent scan yesterday as i had the worst cramps it felt like my worst period coming and i have quite a good pain level spent the morning in tears. Any had a scan and they saw the gest sack and little embryo just and all measured at 6 weeksm the clinic actually have me at 6 weeks today i thought it was tomorrow. So ni heartbeat or yolk sack as to early so hoping to see that in tuesday. But then last night TMI alert i had a wet feeling and some brown spotting now its been very scanty but after bm this morning saw some fresh blood very small amount. I know there is not much i can do if so but the clinic have said it can be normal for some people! I wish they knew more as it could be this or could be that and only time will tell.

Sorry for the rant! I still have some cramping but they said it could be the cycologest too.

QuantumGirl · 20/02/2020 08:22

@MrsLouB I'm so sorry you are going through this. I'm sending positive vibes your way and hoping embie is happy and comfy ❤️

MrsLouB · 20/02/2020 09:16

@QuantumGirl thank you

GoldenCloud · 20/02/2020 09:23

Hi ladies,

First of all congrats on the BFP ladies!! Been following you all for some time now but never posted.

Had my 2nd round of IVF in January. Had 25 follicles, they retrieved only 12 eggs, 9 were fertilised, but we only had 1x AA quality embryo which they (fresh) transferred 2 days post egg retrieval. All the 8 others didn't make it... That was a massive blow, but as they say it only takes 1, and the 1 stuck and I'm pregnant! On the 11th I had my first beta (95 Hcg) which confirmed I'm pregnant! Tuesday I had my second blood test which was 1537 Hcg - so it's been increasing very well. This is the 3rd time I'm pregnant. Last year been pregnant twice but MC both, 1 at 4,5 weeks and 1 at 5 weeks.
I'm currently 5 weeks + 2 and never got this far before. My boobs have started to get a bit sensitive but apart from that no real symptoms yet. It's still early days. Trying to be happy and keep a positive mindset, but I'm afraid of losing this baby. Guess everyone here feels the same!

@MrsLouB I had something similar last week and the week before. 2 weeks ago I had quite a large amount of brown spotting which only lasted 1 day. Up until now I've had a little bit of spotting every day. Last week I've had for 4-5 days very heavy cramps, they felt like period cramps, but since Monday it went down and I only have a handful of tiny cramps every day. It's scary isn't it! I'm staying positive and have good hopes this time round will actually work. Cramping and spotting (and even a bit of red blood) is normal, so don't lose hope.
