Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

I haven’t had a chance to look at it properly yet @BambiOnIce80 as we’ve got friends staying this weekend who don’t know our news yet! I drank 500ml before ET and they said my bladder was lovely and full, and I wasn’t too uncomfortable, so I’m going with that in future!

@Viletta I have a few friends babies to knit for in next few months but will definitely be lovely to finally knit for my own one day! X

Wimbledon1 · 16/02/2020 15:32

Slow back onto this but congratulations @Viletta so great to hear everything went well. How lovely to see your scan pic too 🥰 (And thanks for the bladder tips too!)

How has everyone been feeling the last few days? Guessing people are hunkered down against the latest storm? (Or is this just me being lazy?!)

Would anyone else actually LIKE some symptoms now? I thought I had some mild nausea last week but it's not been back, I felt less tired the last two days (admittedly while not at work) and today my boobs don't even seem to be hurting much. It's like my TWW again where I'm prodding them hoping they'll hurt! Still no sign of spotting or anything to worry about, but the closer I get to my scan the more I'm worried they'll just go "nope sorry, nothing to see here, empty sack". I'm into week 6 now I would like to feel a bit crapper please 😂😉

BambiOnIce80 · 16/02/2020 16:08

I would definitely be calling the midwife again tomorrow @FlapJackered 📞 A week sounds like a very long time to not get back to you without something being wrong at their end - issue with the answer machine, maybe? I hope you get an answer tomorrow 🤞

Do you think your friends are onto you @Chooklass or have you managed to keep your news under wraps? 🤐 😉

I do feel like something is stirring these last couple of days @Wimbledon1 🤔 Went to bed early for me last night because of feeling super tired and quite queasy (but not like I was actually going to be sick, thankfully). Then woke up screaming about 2 hours later from an awful nightmare! 😱 DP had his gaming headphones on and didn't hear me (🙄), but the cat came to make sure I was OK! 😻 Went back to sleep and had the exact same thing happen about 2 hours later again, but at least DP was there that time and was great at soothing me ☺️ No idea what's going on with the terrifying nightmares though 🤷‍♀️ Really queasy and tired again today too, so I'm opting for a onsie/sofa day with lots of naps! 😴 Despite feeling rubbish, I'm oddly comforted that I'm feeling something! 😂

Chooklass · 16/02/2020 17:10

I think I got away with it @BambiOnIce80! I very rarely drink anyway so it’s easier for me to hide, and there were no foods I couldn’t have! I’m glad to hear your cat is looking after you!! 😂

I was forced to be sociable with guests this weekend @Wimbledon1 but now they are gone I’m on the sofa hiding from storm! I’ve also had fewer symptoms the last few days so I know what you mean 🤔. I was worried about cramps and now worried about no cramps?! 🤷‍♀️

I did realise today that I’ve been obsesses with eating chicken since getting pregnant. I literally wake up and all I can think of is chicken soup. Currently roasting one for dinner! This is the woman who has pet chickens and hasn’t eaten one for years because of concerns over the welfare of commercial hens. And now I couldn’t give a shit - I just want to eat them all!!! 🐔

Viletta · 16/02/2020 18:08

@Chooklass I have food aversions, thinking of some foods make me feel nauseous. I eat tons of apples a day and got lots of fruit, veggies and yogurts yesterday. These are the foods that I definitely can eat. Yesterday I was all active, but today I just can't leave the sofa.. have a good excuse though. I noticed the less I move the less energy I have.

Viletta · 16/02/2020 18:26

At the moment symptom wise definitely sore boobs and food aversion. Feeling tiered a lot, but not sure if this is not me being lazy

Wimbledon1 · 16/02/2020 18:50

@Viletta that is very good, wish I was getting cravings for fruit and veg!! But I don't even have that. I did last night eat some lime pickle that we have a lot and thought it tasted weird and of metal, which I think is part of this too. Afraid to say @Chooklass I've always been a fan of eating chickens...could you do what Joey did for Phoebe in Friends when she was pregnant and craving meat? Can DP give up chicken and then you are only eating his share?! 😂

@BambiOnIce80 I think on conception date you are four or five days ahead of me, so maybe I'm about to start getting them too?! 🤞🏻 No doubt if/when I do it'll only be a matter of days until I wish they'd go away again 😉

How are the ladies who got their BFPs on Friday feeling now you've had a few days for it to sink in?

Chooklass · 16/02/2020 19:53

@Wimbledon1 😂 I’d forgotten about Joey giving up meat for Phoebe! Genius! I’ll maybe donate to a chicken-rescuing charity ... or fill the garden with rescue hens? (Not eat them though! I could never eat my pet chooks! 🐔)

rainbow178 · 17/02/2020 04:50

Hey guys.....my first post in this group....coming to terms with my BFP slowly and now panic is setting in! Is anyone else still having cramps/aches? Also a bit of pain? Just woke up with pain- hence the early message! It could be wind from my double dose of progesterone but my mind is working overtime! Pain only lasted about 5 minutes but woke me up!

Hope everyone else is doing well 👍

Chooklass · 17/02/2020 07:27

Hi @rainbow178! Welcome! I’ve had that a few times in the night, especially if I turn over in my sleep - it’s quite alarming. I think my ovaries are still recovering, combined with trapped wind and an expanding uterus, making it all very uncomfortable around there! X

BambiOnIce80 · 17/02/2020 07:47

I did have a really good lol about your chicken craving @Chooklass ! 😂🐔 Glad to hear the ones in your garden are safe though 😉

I have noticed that everything I put on the menu this week contains mushrooms @Viletta, but certainly not as healthy as your fruit and yoghurt crazing! The only thing I've been eating that I haven't had for ages and ages are hot buttered crumpets 😋 I have one or two when I start feeling queasy and that seems to take care of it 👍

Morning @rainbow178 👋 I haven't had any pain since I finished the pessaries, but mild cramps and aches are a daily occurrence! Like @Chooklass said, there's a lot going on in there so there's bound to be a bit of discomfort with it 👍

Hope everyone had a nice weekend preferably indoors, this storm is no joke..

@Viletta what a lovely picture, glad to hear everything went well, you must be so relieved.

Thank you @Wimbledon1 for asking, I called the clinic yesterday and they we so thrilled I almost cried when I told the sister. This was the first time I said it out loud to someone and it somehow made it super real, I think that's when it sunk in. My 7week scan is booked for the 5th of March, can't wait! We agreed with DH if everything is ok we will tell the family after that scan.

@rainbow178 since Friday I have been having so many symptoms it's unreal. I have the cramps that are not AF type and I think it's the same as yours they were a bit more than achy, almost painful. It is unnerving, they did stop by yesterday and became mild. This morning I used the last progesterone and it makes me very nervous as I feel this embie has had the support and now I am just suddenly withdrawing it, it's very scary. I know I need to trust my body, but it's not easy...

rainbow178 · 17/02/2020 08:29

@Lily999 @BambiOnIce80 @Chooklass thanks for the reassurance ladies- good to hear that others are still in a bit of discomfort (in a nice way!) I'm still on pessaries and Injections until at least my scan (10th March) so I'm hoping it's still linked to the progesterone side effects.

FlapJackered · 17/02/2020 08:57

@Chooklass no way! I have been the same! We had a roast chicken last night and there I was in my pj's before bed picking bits off the carcass! 🙈😂 Maybe it's something to do with the protein?

I have definitely felt the craving for carby foods, although trying to ignore it as that is not the healthiest option. @Viletta I wish I was craving healthy food, that would make eating well much easier!

@rainbow178 welcome 😁 I have had cramps and twinges on and off since the bfp. As the others have said I am sure it is normal x

@BambiOnIce80 I think you're right! I will give them a call this morning 📞

Has everyone weathered the storm? We had a power cut last night so were eating our food by candlelight, nothing like a bit of forced romance! 😂

Lily999 · 17/02/2020 10:09

@FlapJackered it was pretty bad around our area yesterday, DH said we might wake up in Kansas if it keeps going like this.

Am I the only one freaking out about cleaning products? I was cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms yesterday and the smell of those chemicals gave me such a bad feeling I kept thinking no way this is not harmful to inhale especially in the shower....?

Trying to keep my diet as healthy as possible, but I am still constantly hungry, it's insane. So now I am snacking on fruit and keep a bag of nuts on my desk to try and avoid gaining weight too soon :)

Downloaded Ovia and I absolutely love the way it tells me every day what is happening in there. @BambiOnIce80 I also tried to download flo, but it kept asking me for payment. At the end it did let me log in, but for a month free then it will charge me so I will have to remember to uninstall it. Can't believe your scan is only a day away, so close! :)

Viletta · 17/02/2020 11:40

I had dreams of staying in a hotel and eating freshly baked croissants and pain au chocolate 😂 I am just above the norm in BMI and try not to gain weight at least during the 1st trimester. I think craving protein is great! I am not a massive fan of meat in general but now I just can't think of meat, fish or even lentils or pulses.. weird as these are all good sources of protein that should be important at the moment.

I use Eco cleaning products and make sure the windows are opened when I use them. If harsher chemicals are needed to clean, DH uses them. I think you could use diluted vinegar too

Viletta · 17/02/2020 11:51

DH was making bacon for breakfast this weekend, to me it smelled like a dead animal, I asked to open all windows to get rid of the smell. I might opt in for plant based protein for a little while till my heighten sense of smell is gone

QuantumGirl · 17/02/2020 13:26

@Lily999 I stopped using cleaning products, it's amazing what you can achieve with water and elbow grease only. Vinager, lemon juice and bicarbonate are great for harder tasks. I also invested on a steam mop for the floor. Worth also check the chemicals on the soap and moisturiser and gave perfume a wide berth for now.

I'm jealous of you girls with cravings and symptoms. I have nothing to report 🤷‍♀️. Trying to get myself booked with the midwife but I'm getting pushed from pillar to post. First call to GP I'm told to fill in a form. Go to GP to be told book an appointment with the doctor so they can refer you. So frustrating 😠🙄

Lily999 · 17/02/2020 14:04

Thanks @QuantumGirl it was actually the oven I had to use stronger stuff for and the shower glass, but I guess I could look into better options. Or wear a face mask :D

Don't worry, symptoms will arrive sooner or later, yesterday I had a headache almost the entire day and felt queasy, it's not that great when you can't enjoy your Sunday as all you want to do is take naps.
Went to my GP this morning and they didn't seem very moved by the whole BFP thing, just gave me a little card that has a phone number for midwives and sent me away. So don't be disheartened if they are not very interested.

Viletta · 17/02/2020 19:19

@Lily999 I think as long as it's a rare occasion it should be fine. If you have to use harsher chemicals, use gloves and make sure the kitchen is well aerated or ask someone else to do it for you.

DobbieFreeElf · 17/02/2020 20:32

Hi Everyone! So happy to be joining you on this board after getting my bHCG back today, 245 at 10dp5dt 😊 feeling super anxious because I have previously had a couple of miscarriages but I’m trying to be happy, at least for today!

A quick question, my clinic recommends to stay on progesterone until 12 weeks, I’m currently taking 3 x 200mg Utrogestan a day, they’re going to contact me about getting some more tomorrow (I have enough to last until Sunday) but I was just wondering where you get yours from and what it costs? X

Viletta · 17/02/2020 21:02

@DobbieFreeElf congratulations on your bfp! I told my GP that I am taking utrogestan and he gave me a private prescription, I take 400mg twice a day. My clinic said I can start reducing the dose and then stop at 10 weeks. If I remember correctly the price in boots was around £10 a pack. They ordered it for me so I picked them up the next day.

I used flea treatment on my dog today and realized it's quite toxic.. erch.. not going to give her cuddles for 24h...

Viletta · 17/02/2020 21:03

Also feeling extremely tiered although I worked from home today and didn't do much..

FlapJackered · 17/02/2020 21:12

Congrats again @DobbieFreeElf ! 🎉
Don't make my mistake of ordering it through ABC, it was eye-wateringly expensive (although I am on blood thinners and immune suppressants too) - I thought it would just be easier but definitely not worth it 🙈
It think they charge you £25 for a prescription then you can get them from an online service like Fertility2U which I think are the cheapest generally. It might be worth shopping around and getting a few quotes. I hear ASDA is quite cheap too.

Viletta · 17/02/2020 21:23

Fertility2u charge £35 for packing and delivering. I think a GP private prescription and boots would be the cheapest option. I paid around £35 for utrogestan and £20 for estradiol. Price per pack was very similar to fertility2u
