Graduate thread for all the amazing ladies who have endured infertility and are hopefully now starting a new chapter🤞

@Littlelot @Viletta @candycornlover @FlapJackered @Wimbledon1

I got my BFP on Tuesday the 28th and am feeling pretty symptom free today (so obviously panicking that it's all going wrong! 😣). 7 week scan due to be Tuesday the 18th and it feels like a long way away with symptoms going awol! 😥 POAS this morning and it looks spot on for where I should be, so trying to take some comfort from that 🤞🤞🤞

Oh no, it saddens me to read this about the bigotry. You totally should be able to have your little ones speak two languages rather than one and be regarded as cool for that, not bullied. They will after all have the last laugh!! Now maybe we've done Brexit things will calm down. 🤞🏻 My friend is Finnish and raising her daughter bilingual and I think it's great!

@FlapJackered - yes! I had noticed my skin was getting bad. Weird others have said dry skin cos nope, mine is acne populated. Maybe it's just whatever your skin has a tendency to do, it does it more?!

No V Day plans here particularly, off to work now and then staying local this evening. But had a busy week at work and doing some volunteering tomorrow, so a quiet night suits me just fine! Hope those of you treating this more romantically have a lovely time though and enjoy your peace and quiet @BambiOnIce80

BambiOnIce80 · 14/02/2020 07:38

Storm Dennis seems to have landed where we are so not sure we'll be getting peace and quiet anymore, but thank you @Wimbledon1! 😘

Wanted to say a massive congratulations to @Lily999 and @rainbow178 this morning for their fantastic Valentine's Day news! 😍 Come on over ladies! 💞

Good morning and happy Valentine's day pregnant ladies! :) I'm sure you all agree we couldn't ask for a nicer gift/surprise this year.

Can't believe I am here finally after all those BFN's this morning something has changed in our lives (hopefully for forever).

I know it is a long road ahead and we can't allow ourselves to celebrate too soon, but I am so happy and excited right now I could scream! We decided to keep it to ourselves until the first scan, anyone could please tell me when that is due for IVF pregnancies?

Thank you I will try and catch up on this thread today.

Chooklass · 14/02/2020 09:26

Welcome @Lily999! You should get a 7 wk scan date when you call in on your OTD 😊. For us in Edinburgh it’s booked for exactly 3wks after test day. Think it varies between clinics (as everything seems to!) as some of the others have booked private early scans x

Lily999 · 14/02/2020 09:30

Thank you @Chooklass that sounds great so I should have a scan around the 9th of March as my OTD falls over the weekend, so now a 3WW begins wow. How are you doing, everything ok? I will read the tread, just can't really focus on anything for long at the moment haha

twinkleyes35 · 14/02/2020 09:33

@Lily999 welcome dear 🤗. Our clinic in Glasgow booked an 8 week scan. As @Chooklass mentioned every clinic is different x

MrsLouB · 14/02/2020 09:49

welcome @Lily999

Lily999 · 14/02/2020 10:27

Thank you @mrsloub and @twinkleyes35 I feel like the last couple of years I have been only focusing on getting pregnant and I know absolutely everything about ovulations, dpos, bbts fmus hpts, but then what happens if I actually get pregnant? Welcome back anxiety! :) What can they see on the 8weeks scan? Can we expect a heartbeat or just to confirm I am actually pregnant?

MrsLouB · 14/02/2020 10:41

lol @Lily999 that is the same as me i said to my husband i know about getting pregnant our has been over 10 years but i know nothing about being pregnant !

Just waiting for our first scan now on the 25th Feb feels like a lifetime away xx

congrats and welcome to @rainbow178...massive congrats to you both xx

rainbow178 · 14/02/2020 10:46

Hey guys, I am still in totally shock, thanks for all the messages!!! What a valentines present!!

twinkleyes35 · 14/02/2020 10:49

@Lily999 8 weeks pretty certain you can hear heart beat if the baby sits right. 6 week scan you may or may not be able to hear hence my clinic goes for 8 weeks so you get to see what you hoping for. But I know people who were able to hear heart beat at 6 weeks scans too 🤞🤞.

twinkleyes35 · 14/02/2020 10:50

Welcome @rainbow178 you must be chufffed what a day your baby choose to show it's existence ☺️

FlapJackered · 14/02/2020 11:07

Congratulations @Lily999 and @rainbow178 😁🎉 fantastic news and great to have you on this thread!

@BambiOnIce80 @Viletta I think it is a great idea to teach another language! I definitely would if I knew one. My Dad is Danish and I wish he had taught me the language when I was young.

@Wimbledon1 that is good to hear it's not just me with the Acne. Is that a new thing for you or has it been since you got your bfp?

I just had a bit of a panic this morning as I slept really well last night which is the first time since getting the bfp, that combined with the new bad skin and the lack of much in the way of symptoms made me worry that maybe my progesterone is not rising. 🙈 I don't know how I am going to get through the next week, I am a nervous wreck.

Chooklass · 14/02/2020 11:21

@Lily999 my clinic said 7 wk scan will check for heartbeat, check embie is measuring correctly for 7wks and check it’s in womb and not ectopic.

I’m still in shock 10 days after my bfp to be honest! Some days I feel normal and other days I’m exhausted or have awful cramps. Normal is gone! I told one good friend yesterday but it’s been nice having this lovely secret just between me and OH ❤️😊. Not telling anyone else until the usual 12wks but will have to tell work soon as there are parts of my job I can’t do if pregnant and there’s only so long I can make excuses!

MrsLouB · 14/02/2020 13:10

@Lily999 i know i have been feeling like that, i had awful cramps a few days after transfer and sharp pain going up into cervix, have sort of gone off which is strange.

Today i have cramps sorta throbbing and mainly one side too so kinda worried, bloating i also feel like i could come on any second and feels like its inside does that make sense.

not sure what to do x

Lily999 · 14/02/2020 14:15

Thank you again @FlapJackered @Chooklass and @mrsloub once we know the date for the 8weeks scan we can decide whether we'd like to have a 6weeks one, I already found a place that offers a 6weeks scan for £49.5, we'll see. Hubby's colleague had an ectopic and it was a rather serious case, she was is so much pain she collapsed at work and got hospitalised, so he has got this worry and I think it's wort the money to put his mind at ease. One thing we learnt for sure is that 2 weeks are bloody long :)
I agree it's nice to have this little secret for just the two of us I am at work at the moment, but so sooo far away from everything :) Also incredibly sleepy as I have been awake since 5am lol.
@Mrsloub if the pain gets worse I would call the clinic, but obviously it's up to you what makes you feel more comfortable. I do have cramps sometimes that are mildly painful and not period cramps they do worry me a lot, I don't think the worry will ever end TBH!

MrsLouB · 14/02/2020 14:31

thanks @Lily999 yeah they are not too bad, i do get pains there sometimes left and right can be other things but as i know the risks i think i worry.

will defo call if they get worse, we are booked in for our scan at 6+4 so hoping we will be atleast be able to see the heartbeat, just waiting from now until then seems like forever. We have just had that lovely long 12 day wait urgh.

MrsLouB · 14/02/2020 16:25

Have any of you ladies got your 3+ on the clear blue ?

x I am trying again on Sunday i didnt get a 2-3 only a 1-2 twice on the clear blue on sat and monday this week.

x

Chooklass · 14/02/2020 16:36

@MrsLouB I did one yesterday that I’d had lying around for a year and still got 2-3 weeks. Read online about people who didn’t get 3+ until 12 weeks, or not at all (but had healthy baby), so I don’t think they can always be trusted. I’m not buying any more, mainly because I’m super conscious of single-use plastics these days and hate to think of the 1000s of pg test sticks which end up in landfill every day 😬.

Chooklass · 14/02/2020 16:39

P.S. Hope I don’t sound judgy or preachy, that wasn’t my intention! But thinking of the environmental impact of POAS really helped me break the habit, which made me a lot more chilled and happy for the last year! 😊

MrsLouB · 14/02/2020 16:44

@Chooklass thanks thats ok i have some that are left and will be using those and i have used quite a few this time. But having tried for the last 14 years i haven't used that many as didn't test that often only on the cheapies which i guess degrade and wanted to see my line get darker this time round. It is a waste of money and of plastic but i have huge anxiety since this death of my parents last year at the ripe old age of 60 that i need some sort of support.

May seem silly x thanks no offence taken x

Chooklass · 14/02/2020 16:52

Whatever gets us through these crazy weeks/ months in one piece is okay as far as I’m concerned! I might draw the line at kicking small animals but not much else 😉xx

Lily999 · 14/02/2020 18:10

@chooklass DH got so upset this morning when he found out the digital is a single use device he was completely shocked and pointed out how bad it is, had to agree with him and said I have never used this kind before, only today when I got a BFP on another type.

Chooklass · 14/02/2020 18:21

@Lily999 They feel so substantial, don’t they? And so expensive! But so amazing to see the actual word ‘pregnant’!

I was just thinking the other day how different it must have been decades ago with no tests or scans. I wonder if women were more or less anxious?

I hope everyone has lovely weekend plans? Hiding from Storm Dennis and knitting are my main plans! 🧶🌧

Wimbledon1 · 14/02/2020 18:26

Welcome to our new ladies and congratulations on the BFPs!! As you said, this is mostly now a wait for the next scan to check it's not ectopic or disappeared, but we are keeping each other (mostly) sane 😉

Try not to worry about the cramping and the pains, I think almost everyone on the thread has had them and worried at some point in the last two weeks! It must be quite normal.

@FlapJackered as if to prove this point about worrying, last night I didn't sleep well at all, for the first time in ages. And I wasn't tired in the evening yesterday when I had been all week. So I was worried too but for opposite reasons! Like you said, this is going to be a long week isn't it!

Hope everyone has some nice plans to get them through the weekend. I'm off to visit a friend's newborn. She was at the hospital I'd likely give birth at so I'm hoping her stories don't give me new things to worry about 😂
