Anyone else awake stupid early?! I have been falling asleep on sofa around 10.30/11 and then go to bed before midnight only to be wide awake from 4am 😩 it’s been going on for 3 weeks now!! Not so bad as working from home but absolutely done by about 3pm!!

MooseWL · 17/04/2020 06:47

@shiningstarz i can't stay awake past 9.30pm! I wake up about 5/6. Good practice for when the baby is here!
Enjoy your scans, I'm with Lillice in the late September club so mines not until 12th May feels like ages away.
When did you all start feeling movements? I've had nothing yet but no idea what I'm looking for! Is it obvious when it starts?

DaffyTaffy24 · 17/04/2020 07:49

@HugeAgeGap congrats! What number babba is this for you?

@ChipsAreLife (in complete agreement with your username statement 🤣) have you started decorating yet? If I'm honest I've been avoiding shopping and decorating - was getting overwhelmed and wound up over the fact we can't go out and shop and prepare. Just not what I imagined first pg to be like. Had a long chat with my mum yday who has sorted me out again ( I know, I'm such a wuss 🤣)
And have you waited to find out gender before going ahead with nursery?

And as for the sleeping ladies, usually asleep by 10:30ish, up atleast 3 times through the night and awake by 7 tops... you're definitely not alone!

sianyflewog · 17/04/2020 07:49

@ShiningStarz I was awake at 4:30 today because my little boy shouted out that his bed was wet. Changed him, chucked him in bed with me, he went back to sleep and I was still awake at 6. Finally drifted off only to be woken back up 30 minutes later while he rubbed his dummies on my back. Very tired! Luckily my husband starts his set of 4 rest days today so will have the chance to have a sleep - I’m a bit grumpy when I’m tired!

@DaffyTaffy24 - I’m in South Wales too! Where are you? Have you joined the Welsh ante natal boards on Facebook? I’ve heard the same about gender, but also that they’re not really spending any time checking, it will only be a case of if they see something. I’ve been recommended a place to go for a private scan to check the gender, and my husband can go too then, but I feel a bit irresponsible as it isn’t essential? Will see how the 20 week scan goes. Last time the gender was the first thing they told us as it was very obvious he was a boy!

@MooseWL I remember my first movements with Harry so well - it was like a bubble growing in my tummy that then popped against my skin. I haven’t had anything like that this time that I’ve noticed - I’ve had what feel like really strong kicks the last few days, but it feels a bit weird as it’s gone from nothing to full on kicking so I’m not really sure! Lol

DaffyTaffy24 · 17/04/2020 07:59

@Roxy8203 yeah, they have a page. Really helpful. That's where I found out about not writing genders and we're the same here - no video chat or recording. I suppose it's just different health boards. I understand it even if it is a bit upsetting, but to be honest, atleast I know what we can and can't do before I'm there. There's been a few girls on there that have ended up crying through their whole scan because they thought they would be allowed to facetime their partner Sad

@MooseWL I started feeling little flutters at around 16+4... although my partner kept telling me it was probably a fart WinkGrin
He was able to feel a little kick a few days ago though, so I can't be as gassy as he thinks haha!
I've been told it's completely different for everyone though - so exciting when you feel the first few!

DaffyTaffy24 · 17/04/2020 08:08

@sianyflewog oh cool! I'm south west - Pembrokeshire.
I've been tempted to book a private, but our nearest would be Swansea which is like an hour and half drive. Plus, a midwife of the antenatal page for the county put up the sonographers guidelines and it says in there that private scan clinics have to abide by the same rules as hospital so they don't get really busy... so I took that as no writing genders etc
If you're not too far from a clinic and they're still open, then surely a copper can't stop you from attending? Turn on the water works if you get stopped Grin

I'm more concerned that my partner is being cut out of the whole experience, he was gutted he can't come in to the scan but apart from that is very black and white when it comes to 'following rules and guidance', so he gets it. I've bought a doppler so he can hear the heartbeat - I think I'm more concerned about him feeling involved than him if I'm honest Smile

Roxy8203 · 17/04/2020 08:58

@DaffyTaffy24 well you can still ask I suppose, they can say no which you'll be expecting so won't be a massive shock but may say yes.
I wonder if they would do it another way. Maybe if you wrote boy on one piece of paper and girl on another and they give you back the right one. Technically they haven't written anything

ShiningStarz · 17/04/2020 09:37

I felt bubbles at 13 weeks, I remember being in the car on way to tell partners parents the happy news and it was a distinct feeling of bubbles for few seconds.

Have started feeling it again from around 16 weeks. Some days nothing though. I have to lie still and flat and rub tummy and then stop and sometimes I feel it!

Sometimes happens in the car when music goes on like little one is reacting to the sound!!

I sing the same nursery rhyme in shower / in car now few times a day and it’s supposed to help little one recognise your voice and helps them settle when they are born.

sianyflewog · 17/04/2020 09:40

I think gender being written down comes down to the uncertainty - as it’s not 100% accurate, they won’t put it in writing as they don’t want to be held accountable if it’s wrong.

The place that does the private scans in Newport allows you to buy gender reveal items - cannons, mugs etc. And I’m pretty sure they will write it down so you can have balloons and cakes made to reveal the gender. I’m not too bothered about knowing before my husband and telling him, I would just really like to know the gender to plan, but then we have done it before. I text him during my 12 week scan as they said he could watch through the window and he declined the offer as he’d seen it before and it was raining lol

sianyflewog · 17/04/2020 09:42

@ShiningStarz My little boy always used to go mad kicking if I was listening to Mumford and Sons on the way to work! Lol

As for kicks, don’t worry if you haven’t felt anything, can also depend on position of the baby, position of the placenta etc.

Morning!

Just a bit of admin. The thread will stop after 1000 posts. Here is a new one for us to jump to:

September 2020 3 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/birth_clubs/3882922-september-2020-3

@DaffyTaffy24 ha ha. I bloody love chips. I try not to eat them too much ask can't stop but I enjoy them very much!!!
We will decorate after baby comes. They'll be in the main bedroom for 6 months anyway so there is no rush. We have always kept the sex a surprise for birth as for us it's such an amazing moment but I can totally understand why people find out!

My sleep is AWFUL!! I have terrible hayfever and it's keeping me up for hours. The morning sickness has finally gone though but have swapped that for sneezing and sore eyes lol!!

Movement wise with my first two I was past 20
Weeks this one I was about 17. I don't feel it every day and normally just a few little movements. I wouldn't worry for a while but it is comforting.

@Lazydaisydaydream did you get your app yet? I've been thinking of you x

Oh and I have no idea on scans here if you're allowed to record etc. Mine is next Thursday so I may get a call to update me. I'm in Oxfordshire. I think DH May take me and sit with the girls in the car as apparently some trusts are making you stay outside until they're ready so at least I won't be alone!

@ShiningStarz I'm usually asleep by 10 but I've been so lazy getting out of bed, I didn't even get out until 9 this morning!!

ShiningStarz · 17/04/2020 14:06

ThNks for setting up new thread @ChipsAreLife xx

ShiningStarz · 17/04/2020 14:12

I fell asleep on the sofa last night hugging my hot water Bottle. It has a furry cover on it and I was wearing over the bump leggings, vest and long sleeve top so bump should have been well protected. Bit annoyed at myself tho ☹️ Won’t be using it again ☹️
Anyone else use hot water bottles? I read it’s ok but not on bump, just hope it wasn’t at the temperature where it could do any harm 🤞

Lilice · 17/04/2020 14:59

@ShiningStarz I'm in Essex and it's quite warm at the moment. Im already sleeping with all windows wide open so no need for water bottle but when I was a kid it happened to me and the bottle leaked. I woke up soaked but the water was cold at that stage.

I go to bed very late, usually between midnight and 1 and the kids wake me up at 8 or 9 so I get a long night sleep but I wake up at least 5 times to go to the toilet, it's so annoying and I do wake up tired.
@MooseWL I only started feeling movements last week and dont feel it everyday. To me it feels like twitches, like a muscle spasm. It's funny how everyone perceives it differently.

emma278 · 17/04/2020 15:16

@Lilice i would say mines exactly the same like twitches, not every day but most now i would say xx

Roxy8203 · 17/04/2020 15:52

@Shiningstarz I'm sure the hot water bottle will be fine. I read the issue with heat is about raising the core body temp and not warm patches. I use a hot water bottle on my back when it's playing up

ShiningStarz · 17/04/2020 16:05

Thanks @Roxy8203 I’ll
Not be using it again!! It’s just a comfort things with me!!
Have you your scan soon?? Xx

ShiningStarz · 17/04/2020 16:06

Thanks everyone I’v been feeling wee twinges today so I’m
Sure all is fine! Just a reminder not to be using them unless totally essential!!! I need an alternative comforter lol 🤣

Roxy8203 · 17/04/2020 16:26

@ShiningStarz I'm in the waiting room now!

sianyflewog · 17/04/2020 16:36

@Lilice I’m glad you said muscle spasms because that’s exactly how I felt. On Sunday it was so strong and unexpected I leapt out of my chair!

ShiningStarz · 17/04/2020 16:40

Whooop enjoy @Roxy8203 💜

MooseWL · 17/04/2020 18:10

Aw I can't wait till I can feel something. Enjoy your scan Roxy!

I was chatting to a colleague the other day who was telling me she went to the doctors with really strong stomach pains and 2 hours later had given birth. Didn't even know she was pregnant. I was like seriously HOW 😂
