So my partner looked into it!!
Think we are getting normal car seat that is compatible with the bugaboo and then at 12 months we’ll get a 360 car seat!! Gosh this is hard work!!

sianyflewog · 09/04/2020 20:49

@ShiningStarz Not a stupid question at all! The car seat stays in the car permanently - so you take baby in and out, transfer into pram or carrier if you’re out or just carry the baby in to the house.

Up to 9 months we had a stage 0 car seat (which we had included with our Silver Cross pram), and we bought the isofix base for it - so if he fell asleep in the car seat, we could just clip the car seat on the wheels rather than transfer him from the car seat to the pram. We generally kept the car seat in the house so he would be strapped into the seat before we went out to the cat, and bought in from the car in the car seat. It worked for us, and we’ll probably do the same again this time - but it does work out more expensive!

ShiningStarz · 09/04/2020 20:57

Hi @sianyflewog thanks so much for that!
We are slowly working all this out!!
Think we are going to get a car seat with the iso base for up to 12 months and then invest in a 360.
I have a nephew who is 3 and from about 1.5-2.5 when he needed me to put him in the seat it was hard work!! A swivel one would be so much easier when they are that bit bigger.

How old is your son? Do you know what you are having this time around?

sianyflewog · 09/04/2020 21:17

@ShiningStarz It really is so much easier - if I’m using our smaller car which has a regular car seat in it, I used to really struggle! It’s easier now he can climb in himself and just needs me to strap it up.
My little boy has just turned 3! Don’t know what we’re having this time yet - hoping to find out at the 20 week scan, but an announcement was made for Welsh antenatal that they wouldn’t be spending the extra time on 20 week scans just to look at gender so it might just be a case of luck!

Do you know what you’re having/will you find out?

ShiningStarz · 09/04/2020 21:32

@sianyflewog aww that’s a nice age gap. No my partner doesn’t want to find out so we will leave it as a surprise!! I’m in Northern Ireland but chose to go private as I’m 38, needed the extra reassurance. My partner wasn’t allowed in at the last scan which is understandable. My 20 week check up is in the hospital and I think similar to you, it’ll be in and out!! I don’t mind tho, I just want to know everything is as healthy as can be 😊

sianyflewog · 09/04/2020 21:41

@shiningstarz I can understand that! I’m 35, and have felt so much aware of risks this time round! My husband wasn’t allowed in for the 12 week scan either, and we know he won’t be allowed at 20 weeks so I’ll have to surprise him when I come out! It’s more out of our ability to organise that we’ll find out I think - we’re blessed with our little boy, he is so wonderful, that we’re just getting an extra bonus whatever the gender!

ChipsAreLife · 10/04/2020 07:31

Yep @ShiningStarz normal Car seat to start is easier. If they fall asleep when you're popping to hops or anything it's much easier to keep them in there. They shouldn't be in there for hours but it's great for those occasions. And like @sianyflewog said easier to get them in the car seat in the house. Especially if it's cold as you can wrap them up before you go out.

We then got the 360 ones for both the girls. Absolute godsend when getting wriggly toddlers in and saves your back!

How's everyone feeling? I feel so blah at the moment. I've ordered a few baby clothes in a bid to cheer me up. Finding newborn neutral stuff online has turned into a sport though 😅 managed to get some bits in M&S.

I've been working out loads this week as it makes me feel so good mentally but my hips are now really sore! Grrrrr!!!

Hope everyone gets some time off for the ban holiday. I'm so looking forward to four days of no work!!!!

@ChipsAreLife I’ve been really thinking I should start doing more exercise at home. I may do the antenatal yoga videos that our midwives have put on Facebook as the classes can’t run. Hope a good nights sleep has helped.
I also looked at neutral clothes the other night, so much is sold out in first sizes! So may just wait a few weeks to see if we can find out that this is another boy 😂

ShiningStarz · 10/04/2020 09:44

Morning @ChipsAreLife and @sianyflewog
We soon realised with googling that you must buy the isofix base and adapters for pram! Expensive business!!
Wev decided on the maxi Cosi pebble/cabriofix with the base along with the bugaboo chameleon with the adapters! The buggy on offer £140 off on mothecare but we feel it’s too early and we will wait until May bank hol sales and hopefully similar offer comes again🙏

You guys must be getting nice weather?! It’s about 17 degrees here today. Nice enough xx enjoy

Lazydaisydaydream · 11/04/2020 08:05

@ShiningStarz do you have a boots advantage card? If you sign up for their parenting club then you get 4 times the points. We bought our car seat from boots because of that, and ended up getting the equivalent of about £50 off just because of how many points we earned!! Definitely worth a look to see if they stock the seat you want.

MooseWL · 11/04/2020 08:41

This all sounds so complicated, i can't believe how much stuff babies need!
I was so excited about not throwing up for a week and then yesterday had really bad (projectile!) vomit all day. Whyyyy. 🙄

ShiningStarz · 11/04/2020 11:29

Hi @Lazydaisydaydream that’s a fab idea, didn’t know about that.
Spoke to my sis in law and she advised leaving most of it until after baby is born. They don’t need much to begin with. Guess that’s all good if shops are guaranteed to be open by sept!!
Fingers crossed!! Would like to experience the going to shops to buy clothes etc.
Happy Easter weekend everyone xx

pangolin84 · 11/04/2020 12:06

All this talk of buying prams is making my head hurt! Sounds seriously complicated and must admit it’s not something I’m looking forward to. I’m 16 weeks today and still no bump to speak of. Anyone else not feeling pregnant at all?!

OrDis · 11/04/2020 12:11

Anyone else getting nose bleeds?? I’ve read its common in pregnancy, but wondering if anyone else is experiencing it!? Im getting one every few days at the moment. They are just annoying more than anything else, and seem to happen out of nowhere!

OrDis · 11/04/2020 13:39

@pangolin84 in 17 weeks tomorrow and I’m really not sure if i’ve got a bump or if it’s still just major bloat though. I do look bigger, but it just looks like how I look after i’ve eaten too much haha, and it doesnt seem as big all the time so I think bloat is defo contributing!! Sometimes below my belly button feels quite hard, so I don’t know if baby is pressing up against it sometimes. I feel like i’ve felt occasional flutters of movement too, but it might just be wind... it’s so tricky to tell!

MooseWL · 11/04/2020 13:45

@pangolin84 I'm 16 weeks today too! I'm def looking rounder around my middle but I think if you didn't know I was pregnant you wouldn't be able to tell!

Lilice · 11/04/2020 14:27

I was 16 weeks yesterday and got a bump but as it's my third I guess my muscles are more relaxed. I've been wearing maternity clothes for a few weeks now. I'm so happy, I can finally feel the baby move now! Such a relief! I was getting worried about not seeing the midwife, and i still dont have a date for the telephone appointment despite me chasing them up but now that i can feel the baby move i dont really care.

sianyflewog · 11/04/2020 15:27

I’m the same as @lilice - I’ve got a very definite bump, I’m probably the size I was at 24 weeks with my son, but this is my second baby so I think the muscles are already well stretched 😂
Yesterday I thought twice that I’d felt definite movements - I’m hoping so. I’m 17 weeks tomorrow and can’t wait for the reassurance of the 20 week scan. 3 weeks to wait!

Chanel05 · 11/04/2020 15:50

@pangolin84 I have hardly any bump and no symptoms anymore. I'm 17+4

ShiningStarz · 11/04/2020 16:19

Hi I’m 18 weeks tomorrow.
I’v been in maternity jeans since the 12 weeks mark. I must have horrendous ab muscles 🙈 I was so bloated from pretty much the bfp! Now it’s definitely just the bump 😊

HugeAgeGap · 11/04/2020 17:59

@Chanel05 that's what I was like first pregnancy. First time around felt completely normal from 12w and had no bump at all until probably around 25w, enjoy the second trimester feeling like that. Make the most of it!!! You certainly won't feel "un-pregnant" in the third!!!

@sianyflewog I'm exactly same second preg, I'm 18w now and probably same size as I was at nearly 30w last pregnancy! I had a small bump through whole thing last time and feel like I'm gonna be huge this time, not looking forward to that. I'm not OK with my body changing so much and the stretch marks inevitable if I get big this time, I have them everywhere else but avoided the bump ones last time!

Chanel05 · 11/04/2020 18:02

@HugeAgeGap thanks for the words of encouragement! I definitely needed them.

sianyflewog · 11/04/2020 18:51

@HugeAgeGap Same. I would say my stomach now is the size on a picture I took at 26 weeks last time! I’m just slapping the bio-oil on and hoping for the best - my consultant told me last time that stretch marks are down to your genes so fingers crossed.

pangolin84 · 11/04/2020 21:32

Thanks for all the replies and reassurance. Strange to think it might be weeks yet before starting to show. I didn’t think my abdominal muscles were particularly strong but I did do a lot of running before feeling crappy in the 1st trimester so possibly that helped. I haven’t really felt anything that might be movements, but today seem to have a mild achey feeling. Maybe things are growing?!

HugeAgeGap · 11/04/2020 22:08

@sianyflewog lol I'm also slapping on the bio oil, had to order another bottle 😂
