@Lilice I'd be interested how your Consultant app goes. I've also had one birth before, c-section for breech too. Was supposed to have a Consultant appt prior to 16 weeks but never got the letter let alone see someone. The MW is chasing it up for me.

I'm also wanting another section due to potential cervix dilation problems from some treatment I had a couple of years ago but the MW told me their encouraging VBAC so I think it could be a fight to get what I think is the safest option.

HugeAgeGap · 30/03/2020 22:20

@Lilice I bought the BBHugMe pillow. Although at the moment, I'm finding it to big and cumbersome to be comfortable. I'm hoping it comes into its own once big bump is here! x

Lilice · 31/03/2020 08:57

@ibe0 hopefully by September things will have gone back to normal and antenatal classes will be running again.

Lilice · 31/03/2020 09:04

@HugeAgeGap I thought that if you had already a csection before, you were entitled to another one if you wanted. My appointment is in May, after my 20 week scan, so quite a wait still. I actually want a vbac because I had a vaginal birth before my csection and found the recovery easier although the birth itself was so much more painful. So if I do have a vbac I am definitely going for the epidural this time. Still a long way until September though and I might change my mind several times before then lol. I looked up your pillow but cannot see a picture with a lady using it so I find it difficult to imagine how to use it lol

emma278 · 31/03/2020 09:29

Ive got this one ... i find the litte flat bit on one side really useful to get comfy. I also put my normal pillow on top.

HugeAgeGap · 31/03/2020 11:56

@Lilice I saw the MW today and voiced my concerns but she defaulted everything back to Consultant and said that elective sections were being very strict criteria at the mo due to covid, so where the Consultant doesn't seem it necessary, it probably won't be allowed regardless of your choice, as this isn't normal times. Consult appt will be over the phone in the next 10 weeks and he'll have the final say.

I think if you've had a vaginal birth before again that's better odds the VBAC working for you, I haven't. My others default really is VBAC all the way!

For the pillow, there are lots of videos on YouTube with women using it, it's like a slug, rather than a wraparound so might not quite be what your after x

Lilice · 31/03/2020 13:56

@HugeAgeGap oh i see I never thought about that, yes it makes sense because of covid. I hope you get the option you want. Hopefully by September things will be better. What a weird time to be pregnant!
I'll have a look on YouTube of your pillow, thanks for the tip. @emma278 thank you for the recommendation too, looks very comfy.

Sunshinexx95 · 31/03/2020 14:06

Hi everyone I hope you are well ..
Guys I am worried... my last scan was at week 12.
And now my nipples are getting lighter.. they were so dark.. so I am so confused ... maybe something is wrong? And I can't even go anywhere due to the corona virus ..

emma278 · 31/03/2020 14:57

@Sunshinexx95 my boobs and nipples have barely changed still in the same bra! Sure its fine. How are you doing? X

emma278 · 31/03/2020 15:44

Ive booked a scan for Saturday just to reassure that baby is ok and also for my husband to see as he wont be allowed to the 20 week scan. Xx

Babybump0 · 31/03/2020 17:48

Hello im wondering if any experienced mums could help me me and my partner are trying for baby number 2 i took my AF on 19th march lasted 3 days then done the deed on eaely hours of 28th morning today i started getting twinging pains right hand side they come ans go there not sore but i know they are there they pass then come back has anyone else ever has this?? i am absolutely drained im sleeping round the clock could i be pregnant?? Need your advice guys xx

flameprincess · 31/03/2020 19:04

@Babybump0 it could possibly be implantation cramps, but I wouldn't expect you to be experiencing lethargy this early if so. There's no way to know really until a couple weeks time then you can take an early test (get a digital one) Also did you mean to post on the main pregnancy board instead as this is a thread for babies due in September?

@emma278 oh it's reassuring to know you can still book private scans, I wasn't sure if you still could. I'm not sure if my partner will be allowed at my 20 weeks yet but if not I may also do this.

@Sunshinexx95 I've had various symptoms come and go and it is worrying when they suddenly vanish but maybe it's part of the perks of 2nd trimester? Try not to worry too much but I know this is easier said than done. Do you still have 16 week check booked in with the midwife for the doppler check or is this now a phone appointment?

emma278 · 01/04/2020 08:41

Im having a nightmare with bras, mine all felt tight so i ordered a few in bigger sizes but everything i wear makes me feel like i cant breath ive already gone up 2 inches. I cant go and get measured as the shops are all shut 😭😭

Chanel05 · 01/04/2020 09:18

For those asking about the 16 week check, I've just had a call confirming mine is going ahead face to face tomorrow.

emma278 · 01/04/2020 09:30

@Chanel05 mine was cancelled and done via phone yesterday but the midwife was lovely and it was a good half an hour call. She said the 28week one will be face to face as they have to do the glucose test xx

ChipsAreLife · 01/04/2020 09:35

@emma278 I just wear cheap sports bra type things. I got some from primark which probably won't help you now but look online at H&M or Asos maybe? I tend to then get measured when milk comes in so I can buy nursing bras that fit properly.

@hugeagegap that's frustrating. I've had two sections before. My MW said it's highly unlikely they would let me do VBAC unless I went into labour before my elected date and then I could try for a short time which is exactly what they said with my second. Alas I didn't go in to labour and had a section at 40 weeks. Will see what consultant says at end of month.

I’ve just been for my 16 week appointment.
Walked in sat down, said she was doing my bloods which I knew about, took my blood and said right speak to you at 26 weeks.

Kinda deflated. Asked her if there was anything I should know or need to think about and she said she will catch up with me at the 26 week appointment which will be by phone.
A whole 5 minute appointment.

ShiningStarz · 01/04/2020 12:15

Hi everyone, iv been so busy I’v barely had time to be on here, feels like I’v missed so much!!

I have my 16 week scan and consultant appt this evening. @emma278 is yours not today too?? My gp practice are doing only essential bloods and vaccines etc so
I’ll be back there all being well after 20 week check up.

@Lorna198 I feel your frustration. I think all
If our appts will be in and out from now on.

Congrats @Samk79 and @flameprincess ps I get the round. Ligament discomfort, it’s all the stretching!! @Sunflower1608 Congrats too 😊

@ChipsAreLife the peak when we are around 20 weeks worries me too. What a weird time to be pregnant!! I’v wished for 8 yrs to be able to be pregnant and it happens during covid! 🤣

I hope I didn’t miss anyone. Just hope you are all
Doing ok xx

HugeAgeGap · 01/04/2020 12:34

16w appointment. Had mine yesterday, face to face, was about 20 minutes. I was asked if had any covid symptoms and told to wash hands. MW wore a gown and gloves but that was only precautions or differences I noticed. We then did urine test, unfortunately high level of glucose so back again next week with another sample! Did blood pressure. Then we listened into baby heartbeat and recorded the beats per min. She then lastly asked if I wanted whooping cough vaccine at that time but I declined. Flu vaccine was already offered at previous and declined.

We talked about the consult appt and that it would be on the phone, we talked about my thoughts on second c-section and she asked if any other concerns.

We then booked another appt for 26 weeks and she checked I'd got a scan date for 20w by didn't mention partners going or not going. Although if we are still in lockdown end of April I'll be alone as partner will be looking after our son.

Hope this helps x

ChipsAreLife · 01/04/2020 15:41

Had my phone 16week app. It was a bit shit to be honest. She just kept saying 'normally we would check your urine now, normally we would do your blood pressure, normally we would listen to heartbeat'. Just made me feel really low as reiterated what I was missing.

She also made quite a big deal of movements and noticing a pattern. I didn't feel anything until 20 weeks with my other two so not sure what she was expecting now! I've said I may have felt one or two movements but not sure, will more likely to be later on.

My biggest client wants to pause for a few months. I'm self employed and entitled to no help as earn over the threshold. We have savings but they were for mat leave so will have to dig into those ☹️

Ugh. I just feel ugh.

Hope everyone else is ok? X

ChipsAreLife · 01/04/2020 15:43

Oh yes @HugeAgeGap we discussed consultant app but she said I need to discuss with them! Not helpful!

OP posts:
HugeAgeGap · 01/04/2020 15:47

@ChipsAreLife that sounds rubbish to be reminded the care you what been receiving but won't actually be receiving!!

And so disappointing to have to spend savings on living, through not fault of your own either!

I think it's so easy to feel so so fed up with all this. It feels such a bad time to be pregnant! I was looking forward to feeling better and able to leave the house and go or for dinner again and literally this happens!

My MW didn't mention much about movement, just asked if I was having any, which at this point could be bubbly wind in my tummy as the feeling is so similar which I remember from last time so I'm not really sure, and that was about it.

I still have no movement. I'm 15 weeks. Is anyone not feeling anything? Im a bit worried as this is my third baby. I can't remember when I started feeling movement previously but was around that time I think.

Lilice · 01/04/2020 17:05

@ChipsAreLife would you not be entitled to the 80 % of average earnings the chancellor arranged for self employed people? I've lost loads of clients too and counting on that help. We should get it in June
