Hi ladies, anybody getting back ache? I’ve not got much of a bump yet (14+5) but my back is so achy. I feel it’s probably being exacerbated by my terrible home office chair as i’m now working from home. I brought a pregnancy pillow online today- can’t wait for it to arrive, i’m hoping it will help especially with sleeping!

Lorna198 · 27/03/2020 22:04

Oh I’m thankful for you ladies. I’d never thought about stretch marks! Will have to pick some bio oil up.
My 16 week appointment is on Wednesday. No cancellation yet so fingers crossed it will go ahead. Don’t think I’d like phone calls. I may have to invest in some books though.
Anyone got any recommendations?

Lilice · 27/03/2020 23:11

@Lorna198 I've got all my books in the attic, can't remember all the titles apart from Secrets Of The Baby Whisperer by Melinda Blau which was very good.
@OrDis I feel for you, back pain is awful. I sometimes get it when im tossing and turning in bed. Hopefully your pregnancy pillow will help. I need to order one too

MooseWL · 28/03/2020 07:42

@OrDis me too and I'm only 14 weeks. I also think it's from home working. Are you working over a laptop? I went into the office this week to pick up a monitor and keyboard which they've let me take home. It's made a massive difference already. I think my work will order me a chair too as part of my risk assessment if I say I need one so it's worth asking!

ChipsAreLife · 28/03/2020 09:27

Just saw this on Instagram. Could be good to checked out this weekend

Just had my 16 week appointment cancelled. Apparently theyll do it via phone. How can they check blood and urine by phone? Im so upset because ive been so worried and was going to use that as reassurance now i feel like i have nowhere to turn. Perhaps its worth booking a private scan? X

OrDis · 28/03/2020 13:39

Aww @emma278 i’m sorry. Mine will be via phone too. Fingers crossed it will still be reassuring and they will still be able to answer any questions/concerns. I’m sure if they felt something needed investigating further they would get you in.
I had an appointment today for an anti-D injection in July, as apparently i’m Rhesus Negative. They appear to be quite on the ball!

Samk79 · 28/03/2020 13:44

Afternoon ladies, has my amniocentesis results back, all week okay!

emma278 · 28/03/2020 13:53

I know its for the best @OrDis but i cant help but feel like weve been abandoned. Such a longed for baby and im just so worried that something is wrong. Xx

emma278 · 28/03/2020 13:54

@Samk79 fantastic news! You must be thrilled!! X

emma278 · 28/03/2020 14:09

Also what is everyone doing about whooping cough jab? Not really sure how we organise it now?? Xx

Lilice · 28/03/2020 14:35

@Samk79 excellent news!

@emma278 i feel the same, they can't monitor BP and urine on the phone. My friend is due in june and said she still has face to face appointments. Maybe checking bp and urine is more important towards the end of pregnancy than where we are now. But I do hope I will see someone at some point just to listen to the heartbeat! I wish we would be given more information about all of this.

Lilice · 28/03/2020 14:36

@emma278 as to the whooping cough, I'll still ring my surgery at 20 weeks and ask to book it

emma278 · 28/03/2020 14:40

Its so hard isnt it @Lilice . Im umming and ahhing about booking a scan next week. Not sure what to do for the best xx

MooseWL · 28/03/2020 14:40

@samk79 yeay great news bet it's such a relief 😌

I was wondering about the whooping cough injection too. Maybe they'll offer it at the 20 week scan? I'm sure I heard the receptionist say something about whooping cough vaccine to a lady when I was at my dating scan? I'm sure they'll be able to tell you at your phone appointment what to do.

HugeAgeGap · 28/03/2020 16:26

Things different at my Trust. I purposefully didn't make a 16w appt as I'm happy to just stay home and not have any contact but my MW phoned me up and was quite annoyed I hadn't booked it!

She was insistent the appt was face to face as it is a "necessity" to listen to the heartbeat apparently. Things seem v different to what others have had here. For me This involves going into a community hospital setting for this and I feel I'm safer not having a heartbeat check, urine or BP checking whilst I'm only 16w and feel healthy and feel it's in both our best interests to just stay home and continue isolating until it's safer to go out or when I've got any issues.

I totally get for anyone anxious, or with pregnancy complications they need to see/speak to a MW, but just personally for me, this is my second low risk pregnancy, I'm healthy and everything, and just think it's riskier to go in for this appt than just to continue isolating at home and checking in again when it's a bit safer.

I'm surprised at the differences we've all experienced in the 16w appointment!

Lilice · 28/03/2020 18:06

@HugeAgeGap wow yeah that shows the discrepancies from one trust to another. Are you going to go in, I mean do you have a choice? I get what you mean about it being risky to make it to the appointment. I guess I dont mind too much skipping the 16 week face to face appointment but I hope not all my appointments will be on the phone as I'd like my bp, urine and baby's heartbeat checked at some point.

HugeAgeGap · 28/03/2020 18:53

@Lilice well she kinda didn't really make out I had a choice! I asked exactly why it needed to be F2F and not on the phone and she said about the heartbeat. I'm same as you, be great to have these things regularly checked, but maybe start the F2F checks again once it's safer to go out for any1 low risk as it feels riskier going into a hosp than just delaying these checks for a few weeks!

ChipsAreLife · 29/03/2020 10:03

@emma when you speak to the midwife on the phone I would explain your concerns and ask to be seen if she doesn't reassure you. Are private scans still operating? They may we'll be but I am not sure?

Re whooping cough mine has always been much later like 28 weeks ish. So there is still time.

It's such an uncertain time and they say the peak is coming in the new 2/3 weeks right in time for our 20 weeks scans! That's worrying me a bit but it's all so unknown and hard to predict!

@samk79 congrats! That's great news.

Baby's having a growth spurt! I'm tired and starving!!!! Anyone else?

Stay safe all x

Lilice · 29/03/2020 10:54

I'm very tired too but I think staying home all day doesn't help. I've ordered a cross trainer online and can't wait to start using it. I'm sure it will boost my energy levels. I'm 14 weeks and still have nausea! Anyone else?

HugeAgeGap · 29/03/2020 11:15

@Lilice my nausea is so much better now, made a difference once I passed 15w and now just gone 16w and feeling more like myself, yay x

ChipsAreLife · 29/03/2020 11:20

@Lilice 16 weeks and still get it. Mainly at 2/3 a.m for a couple of hours. Oh the joys!

Good idea on cross trainer! I worked out mon-fri last week and will do today too. I'm trying to use this extra time for not being lazy!!!

OP posts:
MooseWL · 29/03/2020 11:43

@lillice me too. Though I haven't actually been sick in 3 days (before that it's been at least 3 times a day since week 7!) so it's definitely easing.
I am certainly not glowing yet 🤣

Chanel05 · 29/03/2020 16:07

@Lilice I'm 15+5 and have nausea most of the time still. Plus, I still keep falling asleep on the sofa before 8 o'clock!

My stomach feels quite full this week, I feel like if I'm squashing my belly down or have my legs curled up I feel uncomfortable. It's like my belly needs to pop out over my waistband but I only have a small bump. Is anyone else feeling this way?

Sunflower1608 · 29/03/2020 16:07
