@ShiningStarz did you not get told the risks when you had your 12 week scan? I had my 16 week appointment last Monday

Lazydaisydaydream · 26/03/2020 07:10

@ShiningStarz I was meant to be having my midwife appointment today but she called yesterday and cancelled it as she raise they are trying to limit face to face appointments. I'm a bit disappointed because there were lots of things I wanted to ask and didn't really get the chance on the phone. She said its not long to my 20 week scan (I'm 17 weeks now), but you don't actually see a midwife at the scan so not sure when Ill actually get to talk to anyone 🤷‍♀️

I'm feeling movement a few times a day and I think I felt it with my hand as well yesterday so hoping my OH will be able to feel it soon!

Lilice · 26/03/2020 07:35

@ShiningStarz my 16 week midwife appointment will also be over the phone. I wonder how they'll monitor BP, urine and baby heartbeat if every is done over the phone from now on.
I also had the harmony test. Its expensive (£400) but I thought it was worth it. A scan was I included in the price. My result was less than 1 in 10 000. The nhs results was 1 in 780. If I hadn't had the harmony I'd be worrying about the nhs result, even if it's considered low. I've just turned 37 so that's why I wanted to do it.

Lilice · 26/03/2020 07:36

@Lazydaisydaydream aww that's amazing, enjoy those little movements! When did you start feeling them?

Lazydaisydaydream · 26/03/2020 07:43

@lilice I started feeling them at 15 weeks but they were very inconsistent and faint, I wouldn't have known what they were if this had been my first pregnancy but definitely recognised it from last time. Can't wait until they are big proper kicks though! I absolutely loved feeling my son move Smile

ShiningStarz · 26/03/2020 08:09

Thanks guys. Well I finally realised why I didn’t hear about the NT etc because stupid Northern Ireland don’t do it, abortion laws and all that!!!!! Can’t get over the stupidity and ignorance here!!
I will be having the harmony test. Thankfully it’s still offered!!

All of my midwife appts have Been cancelled too as well as all the antenatal education and physio classes! Gutted as I’m
Going to have to YouTube labour and breastfeeding now to learn 🙈

We have a 16 week and 20 week check here which includes urine and bp check. Think these are more important later as risk if pre eclampsia gets higher xx

ChipsAreLife · 26/03/2020 13:38

Ah that makes sense @shiningstarz. So crazy how they can be so far behind 😢 i would def go for harmony in your case

No movements from me. Was 16 yesterday. I think my first was about 21 weeks and second similar so not sure I will anytime soon!

This weather is so nice! It's helping my mood no end!

Hi ladies hope you are all well and your bumps are starting to grow nicely!

I'm 15+2 and my anomaly scan is in just under 5 weeks and I'm sure many of your 20 week scans are fast approaching too! I'm sure that lots of you have seen that ultrasound services are only allowing the mother into the scan now. Do you think it's likely that this will be relaxed in the next 5 weeks or unlikely?

Roxy8203 · 26/03/2020 19:07

@Chanel05 I suppose it depends how things develop. At the moment lock down is another couple weeks so I doubt it will change in that time. If things get better it may change but I don't really think there is any way of knowing at the moment. My 20 week is 17th April and I'm getting my head around my other half missing the scan and finding out the gender 😥

MooseWL · 26/03/2020 20:18

My partner has said if he can't go I'm not allowed to find out the gender without him! I think I will ask if I can have him on speaker phone if that's the case so we can find out together. Mine isn't until 13th May so may be relaxed by then but I think that's very optimistic

ShiningStarz · 26/03/2020 20:39

I think it’s only fair they allow speaker phone or even better face time. That’s what I’ll be asking for. Horrible thinking they are in the car waiting, anxious time for them too.

Lilice · 26/03/2020 21:52

Is anyone using anti stretch marks cream yet? I know it's all down to genetics etc but I like using one regardless, just in case. I bought some bio oil on ebay but had to send it back as it didnt seem genuine!!! Can't believe would do that. I've always used bio oil previously but it's a bit pricey. I was wondering if anyone was using something else just as good?

ShiningStarz · 26/03/2020 22:12

I’v started using bio oil only cause I had it already for something else. I’d be interested in hearing other ladies experiences with anti SM cream 😊

@emma278 how are you doing?

ShiningStarz · 26/03/2020 22:13

@Roxy8203 I hope you are doing well. It’s totally gutting for the dads to be ☹️
Hopefully you can FaceTime so he can be a virtual part of finding out x

Roxy8203 · 26/03/2020 22:20

@ShiningStarz I'm fine and feel much better now I don't have to go to work and be in contact with customers
The hospitals Facebook page says no video or FaceTime so looks like it's not an option. We were going to get a private scan to find the sex but the clinic has stopped them as well.

I just saw a lovely thing on Facebook. I lady had a scan yesterday and her husband wasn't allowed in. The Sonographer wrote 'hi daddy xx' on one of the scan pictures. How lush

Lilice · 26/03/2020 22:25

@Roxy8203 maybe the sonographer could write the sex on the piece of paper and pop it in an envelope. And then you open it together once at home?

Roxy8203 · 26/03/2020 22:39

@Lilice yes that's what I'm hoping but I guess it depends who they feel about it. I've seen some ladies refused that ad they are concerned about being sued if they get it wrong and they put it in writing

ChipsAreLife · 26/03/2020 22:50

My scan is 23rd. Doubt DH will be able in and if we are still as we are he can't come as has to stay with the girls. I'm grateful he came to the first one. I guess some people may have to miss both of it carries on ☹️

I'm just hoping all is ok and I don't get bad news as this is when they do a lot of the health checks on baby.

In other news I'm growing a big baby!!! I feel huge for 16 weeks. Big babies run in DH family and girls were both 8lb10. Im thinking this one may be even bigger!!! Thank goodness I have sections 😅

OP posts:
Lilice · 26/03/2020 23:39

@Roxy8203 oh yeah I never thought about that. That's a tricky one! Hopefully your husband will be able to come with you.
@ChipsAreLife I feel like my bump is smaller this time!

emma278 · 27/03/2020 07:16

@ShiningStarz im ok thanks for asking. Just feeling really sad about the whole situation. Wishing for life to be normal again xx

Lazydaisydaydream · 27/03/2020 07:36

@lilice I used bio oil during my last pregnancy and didn't get any stretch Marks. I still have half a bottle left so have been using it again. I do think stretch marks are probably down to genetics more than anything else, but I know at the end last time it felt like my skin was actually going to rip open it was so stretched and keeping it moisturised and soft definitely stopped it hurting!

Lilice · 27/03/2020 07:59

@lazydaiaydream thanks, I think I'll go for bio oil again. My husband just left to the supermarket and I asked him to get me some..
@emma278 I know, I also feel sad at times and miss simple stuff like going to the shops and of course seeing my friends and family. Hang in there, we'll get through it xx

HugeAgeGap · 27/03/2020 09:11

Stretch mark thing: I'm prone to them and have them everywhere from teenage years, boobs, hips, inner thighs etc. Used bio oil with first preg and don't get any on my tummy so I'm deffo doing it second time around!

I'm in the same boat about 20w scan. If schools still off then, OH will be looking after child and not coming anyway. I'm also concerned about finding out any issues at the anomaly scan.

ChipsAreLife · 27/03/2020 11:04

Oh yes I use bio oil! It's fab. Only got a few stretch marks on my hips because I was went 12 days over with my first and was huge!!!!

Roxy8203 · 27/03/2020 14:29

I treated myself to the expert midwife set. And have been using it for weeks. I guess there isn't really a way of knowing if it will work but got nothing to lose by trying it
