Hello everyone. I had my 12 week scan today, all was okay but they said I'm 13+6. Just waiting to get my screening results
Back x

ShiningStarz · 16/03/2020 18:15

Congrats @OrDis and @Samk79

@emma278 I defo get bigger as day goes on lol ! I think a lot of it is hormones and bloating still at this stage xx

MooseWL · 16/03/2020 18:17

How's everyone feeling about been categorised with old people and being told to social distance 😂 how is this even real!

ShiningStarz · 16/03/2020 18:18

I want to feel something so bad but I know it’s too early! I’m
Just tormenting myself!! Hopefully in next few weeks I’ll start to feel something!! 🤞

ChipsAreLife · 16/03/2020 18:22

Congrats @Ordis and @samk79! So lovely!!

It's crazy!!! It sounded like it's very much a precaution as they're not willing to risk it, and in a way I'm pleased we all know what's happening. Although I got a bit emotional and had a cry because of my hormones and the thought of being at home for 12 weeks 🤪

My Dd has a temp so that's 14 days isolating as a family! DH is grumpy and it's been an hour 😝

How's everyone else feeling? X

ChipsAreLife · 16/03/2020 18:23

My first pregnancy I didn't feel anything till 21/22 weeks 😡 second was about 20.

I think I felt something the other night but im not sure!!!

OrDis · 16/03/2020 18:46

Thanks all. It’s mad isnt it. I do feel quite depressed at the thought of being home for 12 weeks and not really being able to see family etc. Will just have to make use of facetime and skype. Gonna buy some pots of paint and then at least I can decorate the house lol

emma278 · 16/03/2020 19:00

Ive been sent home from work indefinitely. I am an absolute workaholic usually in the city for nearly 12 hours a day so this feels so so bizarre.!!!! X

Roxy8203 · 16/03/2020 19:23

I'm waiting to hear if I should be going to work tomorrow. Not sure what to do if they don't reply. I guess I'll go in and see if they send me home. I'm not sure where the 12 weeks isolate comes from, they didn't mention that in the press conference

BBC News - Coronavirus: PM says everyone should avoid office, pubs and travelling
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51917562

There's the link. I'm in the lucky position where I can work from home so at least I'll still have work to do. Think I'd go mad. Those that have been told not to go to work will you still get paid?

ChipsAreLife · 16/03/2020 20:11

I'm struggling after 6 days at home ... but my three year old has come home with a temp so we are all here for 14 days and me for however long.

Feels like a movie.

Let's try keep each other sane!

OP posts:
emma278 · 16/03/2020 20:49

@MooseWL ill be working from home so will still be paid xx

Lorna198 · 16/03/2020 21:48

I can’t work from home as I work at Greggs lol. On holiday till next week but gonna ring them tomorrow to see what the score is. I don’t particularly want 12 weeks off however it’s working with the public so no matter how careful I am I won’t be able to protect myself. Gonna be very interesting to see how this play out.

Sipperskipper · 16/03/2020 22:05

No idea what will happen with my work. I’m a nurse in a hospital. Lots of possible Covid patients everywhere there this weekend, and my job involves going all over the hospital. No way I can work from home, and I cannot see them sending all the pregnant staff members (nurses, doctors, physios etc) home for 12 weeks when the NHS is facing the biggest crisis in its history. Very little point in me ‘social distancing’ for my own protection when I’m surrounded by it all at work!

Samk79 · 17/03/2020 07:39

It's such a worrying time! I work for the NHS as an occupational therapist in the community. It's not really possible for me to work from home! The job is also a secondment for 4 months, not really sure what's going to happen now 😞

Lazydaisydaydream · 17/03/2020 07:54

I'm a SAHM so the social distancing requirement effects me less than most people. Will struggle with not going to groups and things though as they are really my lifeline to stop me feeling lonely Sad

ShiningStarz · 17/03/2020 08:03

I hope everyone is doing ok.
I’m not an anxious person at all but I started feeling anxious yesterday at all the Unknown’s.

I’m working from home now too. Like you @emma278 I’m used to being in a busy job constantly interacting with people at a high pace so all this is surreal!

Iv decided tho I’ll turn off the news app, download some mindfulness apps and do some yoga via YouTube, order some books to read!

Hugs to you all and stay safe

Posted on bbc this morning:

What is the advice for pregnant women?

The government has issued five points that people in at-risk groups such as the over-70s, those with underlying conditions, and pregnant women should follow "as much as you can":

  1. Avoid contact with someone who is displaying symptoms of coronavirus. These symptoms include high temperature and/or new and continuous cough;
  2. Avoid non-essential use of public transport, varying your travel times to avoid rush hour, when possible; Work from home, where possible. Your employer should support you to do this
  3. Avoid large gatherings, and gatherings in smaller public spaces such as pubs, cinemas, restaurants, theatres, bars, clubs
  4. Avoid gatherings with friends and family. Keep in touch using remote technology such as phone, internet, and social media
  5. Use telephone or online services to contact your GP or other essential services
ChipsAreLife · 17/03/2020 11:41

Thanks @shiningstarz

They did suggest come the weekend the measures would be much stronger and for the 12 week period. So think we all need to be prepared for that. X

june feels a long time away, as if time doesn't go slowly enough counting down the weeks we now have a new 12 week count 🤭

pangolin84 · 17/03/2020 21:19

Had my 12 week scan today. Little one was being particularly awkward and moving about all over the place! They also struggled to bleed me... Measured as 12 weeks 3 days. Work has said I have to keep going in until the government mandates self-isolation for pregnant women. Would be very difficult for me to do my job from home. Just got to avoid public transport etc. I have covid fatigue already.

Lilice · 17/03/2020 21:55

I'm pulling my kids out of school from tomorrow and trying to work from home as much as I can. I still have to work outside some evenings but I really don't want to. I'm self employed and don't get sick pay. I thought the government already recommended pregnant women stayed at home. Isn't it the case yet, or will it be official from next week? I heard self employed people could get sick pay through universal credits if they have to self isolate. I have never claimed anything like this and have no idea where to start. Is anyone self employed too and have any clue, and advice? I know that statuary sick pay isn't much but I'd rather get little and stop leaving the house. I'm French and when I see the measures they're taking in France, it freaks me out that hardly anything is happening here. It's a total lockdown, people need written permission to leave the house and the police are patrolling the streets. It's so serious.

Sipperskipper · 18/03/2020 06:43

Well all pregnant women have been sent home from work for the next 12 weeks, until we hear otherwise. I can’t quite believe it. We struggle with staffing as it is.

Lorna198 · 18/03/2020 10:12

@Sipperskipper it’s crazy isn’t it. I’m waiting to hear from my firm but it’s a small team anyway so staffing levels will suffer. Guess that’s the same most places. Then again customer levels will drop too.
With this being my first it’s all unknown anyway but has anyone been through anything at all like this before?

MooseWL · 18/03/2020 13:16

I've just been rang by the hospital and told to still attend my scan next week but now partners allowed! I get why but it still feels a bit rubbish!
Probably more for him than me. At least he got to go to the one a couple of weeks ago I guess.
