My boobs are constantly leaking. All the time now, for the last few days. I had thrush in my
Nipples last time and I believe it was from wearing those bloody pads constantly. So I’m currently trying to Go bra free unless I’m leaving the house, and change my top Frequently this time as it is AGONY breastfeeding with thrush! Also to prepare your breasts start applying the nipple cream now (lansinoh) mine were cracked and bleeding by the time DD was born which made her latching so much more painful. I think prevention is key. You can apply it before and after feeding too it really helps.

I cannot walk today. Honestly nearly cried going upstairs to the loo the pelvic pain is so bad. I hope this means baby is fully engaged?

Is anyone else freaking about the coronavirus :( I am really scared of catching it now or someone I know coming to see the baby and not knowing they have it! Mind is already in overprotective overdrive x

LolaLollypop · 31/01/2020 13:44

@hazandduck my husband got back from a work tripto Shanghai on 18th Jan!! Thankfully he hasn't had any symptoms so I think we are in the clear. I don't think the virus is super dangerous for anyone without prior health issues but yes, would certainly not be good for a newborn.

Make sure you have lots of hot baths for the SPD, it really helped mine.

I also found some washable breast pads in asda yesterday. I didn't get on with the disposable ones at all - found them really itchy. These ones are more cotton like so I'm hoping they won't react as badly to my skin.

hazandduck · 31/01/2020 14:41

Yes @Lola that’s half the problem is the itchy disposable nipple pads - I have hundreds of them 🙈 I had so many leftover from DD. By the time she was a few months old my supply matched her appetite so I didn’t need them any more! I am just ordering a shop I’m going to have a look at some washable pads!

DH has a cousin who lives in Shanghai, he was home for Christmas, flew back at New Year but went to Vietnam as the school where he works was closed and is still closed. He’s staying in Vietnam for now but it is still so worrying :( he’s asthmatic as is DH. And obviously with a newborn coming imminently and a toddler it just makes you want to hibernate!

Great suggestion I am going to go and have a bath, DD is napping and DH has finished work early and is bringing me home a McDonald’s I’ll get him to deliver it to me in the tub 😂

I live in York and was out and about on Wednesday when they were so not happy at the moment. Also, if anyone has any symptoms they will presumably be turning up at york hospital A&E which is about 500 yards away from the maternity wards 🙄 finding all the 'don't worry, we've got it all under control stuff' a bit misleading when at the same time they are 'urgently' wanting to trace anyone who may have had contact with them. Also, what flight did they cone in on, are those people also In York, have they been quarantined, so many unanswered questions.

Also, my friend who lives in the next province to wuhan, has been on holiday in the Philippines this week so decided not to go back to where they live/work with there 2 small kids as the international school they work at has closed for the foreseeable anyway. They fly back tonight but no check ins or advice or quarantine for them because not direct from China! She just messaged me to say she can cone see me next week as she's back unexpectedly 🙄

People are morons so it's more likely to spread around. Wouldn't be too worried except for the giving birth/new baby bit. But annoyed with people saying it's scaremongering to want to be kept fully informed about this stuff. It's not, it's sensible and enables us to make informed choices.

hazandduck · 31/01/2020 20:58

Totally agree with you @Ginny1234. People can be so dismissive but when you are pregnant your immune system is naturally weaker and newborns are the most vulnerable you can get!

I have no faith in people self containing if they are ill after having a toddler and meeting so many parents who don’t give a shit if they share sickness bugs or colds with your child at soft play or groups and don’t stick to the 48 hour rule! My best friend’s baby has cystic fibrosis so I am really arsey about people doing this as her catching anything will almost always result in hospital stays and damage done to her lungs through simple colds etc is irreversible. Sorry that turned in to a rant 🙈

How is everyone feeling tonight? Any more signs of more babies to come...is anyone going to have a Brexit baby tonight?!

Dweebette · 31/01/2020 21:35

The exhaustion is real today 😴 was only working half day and had planned a nice productive afternoon at home. Lay down for "half an hour" and woke 2 hours later! Two more weeks left of work and I can tell it's going to be a struggle!

Drinking lots of raspberry leaf tea and doing lots of figure 8s on my birthing ball, once I hit 37 weeks next week I'll start bouncing. Having a lot of cramping and back pain, think this is just my life now until bubs is born!

Going to be very tmi rn but
I dunno if im in labour or I'm going to poop myself. Probably both knowing my luck...

Ginny1234 · 31/01/2020 21:45

@FirstTimeDS the poo is bound to cone quicker than the baby so I would prepare for them in that order if I was you!!

FirstTimeDS · 31/01/2020 21:56

You where very right xD

hazandduck · 31/01/2020 21:57

Ooh maybe your body is having a pre-labour clear out! Really common apparently!

hazandduck · 31/01/2020 21:58

@Dweebette woah you’re working up to 39 weeks?! Fair play to you!

cliare · 31/01/2020 22:05

I'm 39 +1 and feel totally brain dead and exhausted. Bump seems to be sky high still so not holding out much hope of an early/on time exit. My last was a whopper at 9lb and I'm worried this one will be bigger. MW not concerned tho so no scan since 20 weeks for me! Trying to stay cool with Hypnobirthing but am itu nurse so naturally tend to catastrophise a little! Desperate to get to the other side now!

Quirkyquichie · 01/02/2020 05:26

Baby boy 3 hours old, born just after 2am 6lb7. 🙂

45andfine · 01/02/2020 07:21

Congratulations!!!!! Any name??

We are still nameless here!

hazandduck · 01/02/2020 08:00

Ah congratulations @Quirkyquichie! That’s a good weight as he’s a few weeks early iirc? Hope you are both well x

lovesT · 01/02/2020 08:06

@Quirkyquichie congratulations! Soo exciting.

First day of February, this is the month! ❤️ (hopefully!)

LolaLollypop · 01/02/2020 08:29

Oh my goodness @Quirkyquichie congratulations! He just made the February cutoff Grin How early was he? Hopr you're both doing ok.

Quirkyquichie · 01/02/2020 08:59

37+2 dad has named him after a basket ball player. We've got a kyrie. Never heard it before tbh but it's growing on me.

Was induced, had pessary at 4, they had to take it out at 5. They said it was slow release hormone, I had to question how many were in there🤐

Ginny1234 · 01/02/2020 09:53

Congratulations @Quirkyquichie ! I love the name. Nice to hear a quick induction story too. Fingers crossed mine is that quick 🤞🏻
Rest up and enjoy xx

Quirkyquichie · 01/02/2020 10:26

Oh Ginny, I wouldn't wish it that quick on anyone. Contractions went from 0 to every 2 minutes for a minute a piece. It was like someone had kicked me in the cervix with a steel toe Cap with spurs on. No joke. Cervix went from thick and long and not ready, to 1cm in 1 hour. Took until 7 to get some gas. Down to delivery at 11, but it had eased a lot and was manageable. she popped my waters, was 2_3cm, then contractions just built up until he was born at just after 2am. It's amazing how you can go from that kind of pain to no pain as soon as the baby is out. Right now I'm struggling to keep my eyes open, I've probably had around 30 minutes snatched sleep. My baby has barely made a peep, I think I'm still flowing with adrenalin. So surreal

hazandduck · 01/02/2020 10:29

Ooh yes I love that name too, never heard it before! That sounds like a good induction story when you so often hear negative ones.

This is the month! I hope this is the week too 😄 I’m honestly in agony with the SPD. Can’t do a thing. Everything DH says and does is annoying because he’s swanning about not in pain and I can’t move, and he helpfully keeps saying “can’t you just give birth already as I don’t want to go to work next week.” 😤 Give. Me. Strength!! He is being good I suppose delivering me hot water bottles, tea, food and helping me waddle to the loo. But it is not enough!

@cliare I think we have the same due date, the 6th?? I’m the same I don’t feel like bump has dropped. With DD it visibly dropped the day before she came. I think when/if it does drop I will probably panic! X

hazandduck · 01/02/2020 10:32

Wow @Quirkyquichie that sounds intense! Aw I can’t wait for that post birth adrenalin rush when you forget everything and just ride that amazing wave. Enjoy xx

cliare · 01/02/2020 11:25

@hazandduck yes the 6th! Although my dates say 11th but not sure how much that means. Went truly stir crazy when first was 9 days over so trying so hard to keep my cool this time! Going to try and go for little walks every day with positive affirmations on headphones and maybe start some sort of knitting project.

Hopefully your spd wil ease a bit when baby drops down? Mine has come and gone a bit. When it was particularly nasty MW said baby was perched just above pubic bone and could be causing it. Horrid though. We're you on time with your first?

Congratulations on the safe arrival of all the new babies!

Quirkyquichie · 01/02/2020 11:36

I definitely agree this is the month. Just heard it's so busy down in delivery this morning that they're turning people away to other hospitals. Hopefully none of them are here in this group

Dweebette · 01/02/2020 15:51

@hazandduck working up to 38 weeks, not 39 (I'm 36+1 today). I have suddenly got super puffy, all my rings have had to come off and my ankles are a think of the past. Feeling OK otherwise though so think it's just fluid retention. In agony with my back and hip though so sleeping in shifts at the minute.

Congratulations @Quirkyquichie, lovely name and great weight for 37+2! Hope you manage to get some rest now after such a speedy delivery.

I'm so excited that it's February at last, although there's a fair chance my bubba won't make an appearance until March
