In the wide awake club here!

Had pre op yesterday @ginny1234, baby arriving later 😯😯😯.

I'm hungry, thirsty and tired but can't sleep 🤣

Found an old man collapsed in road last night, you can imagine what use I was trying to get him to safety!! Luckily, after several others ignored my cries for help, a couple did do a better job of lifting him and calling ambulance. I do hope he's ok. I felt helpless.

Two hours until I have to take tablets and drink some special ( I think they mean gross) drink and then have to be in hospital by 0730hrs. Then it's the waiting game for theatre slot.

Can't quite believe the day has finally come! Excited and scared!

Dweebette · 30/01/2020 06:34

@45andfine good luck!! So exciting that you get to meet your bubs today!

doublebarrellednurse · 30/01/2020 07:33

Oh wow that's so exciting @45andfine ❤️

Ginny1234 · 30/01/2020 09:40

Oh so exciting @45andfine !! Good luck xx

Quirkyquichie · 30/01/2020 12:42

Good luck for today 45 and fine, hope you're not waiting too long

hazandduck · 30/01/2020 15:41

Ah good luck @45andfine can’t wait to read your news when baby is here! I was awake when you were early this morning but didn’t think to check the thread!

Anyone else awake all hours at night then zonked in the afternoons?

My due date is 1 week today!

Cupcakes1234 · 30/01/2020 17:38

Went and had my blood test yesterday for Cholestasis as I'm scratching my skin raw. It's torture! My bile acids are on 12, the lady said on the phone anything over 14 and they look at induction. I have to go back next Wednesday for another blood test and see how much/if they go up. If they do go over the 14 next week then they'll be looking at inducing me I believe (I'm 38 weeks Saturday). I also had to have a scan as I wasn't offered a repeat due to measuring small. Baby girl estimated at 6lbs 13oz. No idea how accurate these growth scans are though. I'm absolutely shattered day and night! Bags not packed and generally not ready lol. Looks like a job for this weekend though

lovesT · 30/01/2020 18:22

@45andfine exciting! Hope everything has gone well 😊

Had a small leaving do this afternoon at work which was lovely (though officially my last day in Thursday next week if I make it!) I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow.

So last night I was also tempted to post between 3 and 4am because I'd been having back cramps which would last a bit then ease off. Today I've been really uncomfortable which I've put down to needing the toilet and being a bit bloated? But has anyone else been feeling quite painful pressure very low down and tummy goes hard? It almost takes my breath away!

Husband is getting excited at things happening but I'm telling him it's probably just baby in an awkward position and Brixton hicks ...

Ginny1234 · 30/01/2020 20:40

I was also awake at in the early hours but didn't think to check in here.

Think my body might actually be getting ready to give birth now - not had any acid issues today and can seemingly eat what I want???? So weird as struggled for so long. Had massive cravings for fruit and yoghurt all day so had loads and still scoffing apples and oranges now when I'm usually full of gas and acid at this time. Also having very regular bowl movements and baby is really active day and night. Might just be that I'm noticing him more now I'm not at work though.

Just clutching at straws that he'll come naturally before induction on Monday!

I'm also totally zonked and no power or motivation to do anything past about 1pm. My tummy feels weird as well, like rock hard sometimes but soft and doughy at others. Skin is numb now too where it's stretched so much so really itchy.

Have I mentioned that I'm ready for this to be over yet?? 😆

Ginny1234 · 30/01/2020 20:42

Oh and forgot to say, I did the bear in the end because I didn't have the right size needles for the giraffe 🦒 I'll have to do that when baby is here.

Little Ted is ready to meet his new best friend now 🥰

Back pain more consistent currently, is this a sign of anything or just body getting ready for things to start happening?

Telling myself I have while yet but back pain getting worse I think and more consistent. Anyone??

In bed and don't want to worry/ excite husband who's just fallen asleep!

I'm sure it's not anything too exciting .. right?

Ginny1234 · 30/01/2020 22:29

@lovesT I've no idea, sorry I cant help. I guess time will tell though! I know the feeling of laying awake next to you sleeping husband, wondering if you should wake him up or not. I think you'll know when it's time though :)

45andfine · 30/01/2020 22:48

Thank you all for messages! What a day!

Baby 5 arrived this afternoon - a girl!!! So that brings our joint total to 6 girls 🤣🤣

Can't believe how lucky we are.

The c section was a bit horrendous, took ages for them to sew me up due to having so much scar tissue from previous ops.

All done now and looking forwards to getting catheter and drain out so that I can move.

We don't have a name yet ... And I think it might be a while until we all agree on one.

Good luck everyone else, one more day until February births really kick in!!

Ginny1234 · 30/01/2020 23:01

Congratulations @45andfine ! Another girl to add to your tribe :) so happy for you that it's all over and you have your baby safe and sound.

Rest up and heal as much as you can, sounds like it might take a while.
I think you just scored a goal for us geriatrics! Yay 💁‍♀️

hazandduck · 30/01/2020 23:17

It could well be! I’ve had the same the last day or two, so much pressure and (sorry TMI) a lot of pressure on my bowels! Like having to go to the toilet a lot!! Definite bearing down and back ache. The pressure with each tightening makes my chest go tight too so I feel breathless and also I have pressure in my ears and sinuses with each one...I do not remember this with my last pregnancy!

Other signs would be loss of your plug..? I lost mine about 3 days before my DD was born. This pregnancy feels totally different so I am wondering if it won’t go the same way.

If you can’t sleep do you have a birthing ball you can sit on? My midwife recommended doing figures of 8 on the ball to get things going! I’ve not really had the chance as DD and DH have turned my birthing ball in to “bouncy ball” game where he basically boings her round the living room on it 🙈😩

hazandduck · 30/01/2020 23:19

Just seen your update @45andfine huge congratulations!! I hope you recover quickly, enjoy all the newborn snuggles!! Xx

FirstTimeDS · 31/01/2020 00:00

Congratulations @45andfine
Rest up and get DP to do everything for you!

Everyone's starting to pop now I'm getting jealous haha

39+2, lost my plug but other than that this baby is chilling. I've had hummus for 4 days in a row so I think he's going to be born with a taste for it.

I genuinely don't think he's going to come naturally

LolaLollypop · 31/01/2020 08:44

Congratulations @45andfine! Another little princess. Hope she settles in well and you get at least a bit of rest!

All quiet really with me... have had two lovely days whilst DD has been at nursery so I've littered about at home, getting hospital bag ready and having nice long baths! Going to make the most of this while I can.

Baby seems quite settled in there, a few twinges here and there but nothing that indicates labour just yet. I'd like at least another week of mat leave anyway! 38 weeks on Sunday.

My labour with DD started with lots of bowel movements and pressure like trapped wind, so for those ladies suffering with that, it could be a sign! Let us know if anything progresses!

LolaLollypop · 31/01/2020 08:45

Oh and also just to add.. I didn't have any other signs of labour - mucus plug and waters went right at the end just before DD popped out! So the aches & pains were the only sign for me.

hazandduck · 31/01/2020 09:28

@Ginny1234 that teddy bear is gorgeous - it actually looks like the thing you planned to make! I’m the queen of Pinterest style fails 🤣 mine would look nothing like the design! Think Alice Tinker and her giraffes on The Vicar of Dibley!

lovesT · 31/01/2020 09:37

@45andfine congratulations! 🌸😍

The back pain eased off around midnight as I forced myself to go to sleep. It was definitely more than I've had before. Midwife appointment this morning so will ask her! Maybe it was baby moving down further 😊

Husband keeps giving me dates because apparently they can help bring on labour haha 😄

It's so hard to know what the start of labour will be like when it's never happened to you before. I haven't had the 'show' yet which apparently not all women will see anyway? But getting increasing amounts of clear/ milky discharge 🤷‍♀️ sorry if TMI.

lovesT · 31/01/2020 09:40

@LolaLollypop just seen your post, that's good to know! Definitely getting more twinges and aches and yesterday felt like I was bloated and baby was pushing and made me feel really uncomfortable! Will just have to wait .. will keep telling myself it could be a couple of weeks yet ...

lovesT · 31/01/2020 11:30

I told the midwife about the back pain and she suspected baby's head would be engaged, when she checked baby's head is fully engaged yay 😄 so that explains the pain I was feeling. I guess there will just be more pains and twinges until the real thing. Anyone else feeling anything?

Ginny1234 · 31/01/2020 11:50

That's good to know @lovesT at least you know you're suffering for a good reason! My back aches when I sit or lie down but it's ok when I'm up and about so maybe he's not fully engaged yet. He was 3/5 last time the midwife checked a couple of weeks ago.

Just trying to harvest colostrum/get my boobs ready for when he's here. Apparently it can be really good for bringing on labour but not feeling anything yet! Only a couple of tiny droplets of colostrum as well but I guess it's a bit less work for baby to do when he's here.
