Turns out I saw a midwife I went to school with 😄 they just swapped over as I went in so that was quite nice .. I know I'm being fussy 😣 but baby is happy and booked in for a sweep at 41 weeks if baby doesn't arrive before next Friday 👍

@doublebarrellednurse congratulations!! Sooo gorgeous. I hope you're doing well! Enjoy your baby cuddles ❤️ a valentines baby!

LolaLollypop · 14/02/2020 16:24

Congratulations @doublebarrellednurse! What a beauty Flowers

I'm full of cold and feeling sorry for myself. Rubbish sleep last night and can't take anything for my blocked sinuses. Hoping I feel better tomorrow and before I have to get this baby out!!

That's good your checkup went well @lovesT. I wonder which of us will go next! Grin

Dweebette · 14/02/2020 18:11

Congratulations @doublebarrellednurse what a beauty

@lovesT that's good you were happy with the midwife in the end! Are you doing anything to try and bring labour on naturally? Not sure if anything actually really works but I figure it's worth a try so I've been taking raspberry leaf tea for a few weeks and bouncing on a yoga ball

@Dweebette yeah I was happy in the end 😊 I just find the other midwife quite harsh even though she's very nice! All was well in the end .. and if I have a sweep on Friday it will be with someone I don't know 👍 husband and I are just looking at ordering a curry and I'm going to go for a bit of spice because apparently that can help 😂 I know it can cause other problems too but .. would be nice to have a valentines curry anyway. Yeah I've been on my ball and going for walks which makes me feel very heavy down low so must be good. It's worth trying things I think, even if they're not proven to work, why not? Also been eating quite a lot of pineapple 😊

Anyone else trying anything?

lovesT · 15/02/2020 08:05

Lying here with my tens machine on for first time not having slept since about 3am because of back pain. Since I've had the back pain before I'm not 100% convinced but have decided to time contractions for last couple of hours since they're quite frequent and painful and also around the front like period pain ... STILL not convinced for some reason but husband is! Is this the start? Just had another as I type. When I've had back pain at night before they have eased off once I'm up in the morning but not today! Will ring the birth centre if they carry on ...

@lovesT how exciting, looks like it could be the start of something! Fingers crossed!

I've had another night of broken sleep with the usual aches and pains but nothing happening. Going to spend today hiding from the weather, on my ball I think!

LolaLollypop · 15/02/2020 08:59

Sounds like things could be moving for you @lovesT! Good luck if we don't hear back from you soon!

No news from me really... I think this baby is taking shelter until storm Dennis has gone. Don't blame it! Grin

lovesT · 15/02/2020 09:14

Having a rest in bed at the moment but contractions are every 5-7 mins and between 40s and a minute long .. have called the birth centre and they said to stay home as long as I feel comfortable enough but keep them updated .. maybe this is it 😊 tens machine boost button is getting me though so far! Pretty painful though 😣 come on baby!

Waters haven't broken so I still don't trust this baby 👶 ☺️

That's good that there are some sensible babies hiding from storm Dennis 😅 @LolaLollypop

doublebarrellednurse · 15/02/2020 11:26

Oooo how exciting @lovest

lovesT · 15/02/2020 23:03

Baby arrived at 6:34pm this afternoon(I think that's right!) 🥰🥰 can't quite believe it. Though I am in no way in a rush to do it again anytime soon, it was the best first birth I could have asked for with amazing midwifes and a pool with gas and air (oh my goodness that stuff is the best 🤤) she's perfect! Thinking of all those babies still to come ❤️

lovesT · 16/02/2020 07:37

Didn't add a squishy baby photo - she likes to snuggle her hand ❤️

lovesT · 16/02/2020 07:37

Okay third try 😅

LolaLollypop · 16/02/2020 08:23

Yay @lovesT congratulations! So pleased you had a good first birth experience. Now you can snuggle down with your gorgeous new daughter.

I've been up all night treating my toddler who has come down with a vomiting bug. Also still feeling crap with this cold. This emoji describes how I'm feeling right now 😭 (crying emoji lol)

40 weeks today. Let's see whether this baby decides to get moving soon.. tbh I'm already so tired I could do with it staying put!

Quirkyquichie · 16/02/2020 08:34

Congratulations to all the new mums. Hopefully the wait isn't too much longer for those still waiting.

hazandduck · 16/02/2020 21:31

Hi everyone, days are flying by now with a newborn!

So happy for the new squishy gorgeous arrivals! I’m loving all the adorable pictures.

Thank you everyone for replying to my woe-is-me post the other day, I was in a bit of a state! Still going with the breastfeeding and Cleo is getting there with her latch. DH gives her a couple of feeds too so it’s not all on me.

How is everyone doing?? Is anyone else suffering the awful postpartum night sweats?! I wake up DRENCHED! Yuck!!

Dweebette · 17/02/2020 08:25

38+3 and think that baby somehow managed to turn completely around last night so I think it's now breech. How is that even possible when it's so big? Not seeing the midwife until next week so won't get it confirmed until then but I'm freaking out now as I know it means a section is likely and it's just not what I want. I'm a FTM with no family nearby, DH only gets 2 weeks paternity so if I'm facing a longer recovery period it's going to be tough. I know I'm meeting my troubles halfway but I'm having a wobble this morning. Not helped by a poor night's sleep, woke up at 2.30 on my stomach (again, how???) and baby wasn't moving at all, was convinced I'd squished it but lots of movement now so I think it's fine. This is my first day of maternity leave so I think I'm maybe just freaking out a bit. Sorry for long post and rant, just feel like I can't talk to any friends or family about it because there's nothing anyone can do to help anyway!

Loving seeing all the new arrival posts and hearing about life post partum, even if that does include night sweats (which honestly I only heard about for the first time last week, they never mentioned it in the antenatal classes!). Glad your breastfeeding journey is going better @hazandduck, I'm hoping to feed as well and have joined a local Facebook support group so seeing all the posts has highlighted how difficult it can be to begin with!

Glad things are going well @hazandduckSmile

@Dweebette maybe call your midwife and say you thing the baby's turned? At this stage when you could go into labour any time I think they'd rather check sooner... or at least see what they say. Fingers crossed if baby has turned it might manage to flip back again 🤞

sulkysukey · 17/02/2020 09:04

(And congrats @lovesT ! 🥰)

Dweebette · 17/02/2020 09:07

@sulkysukey I honestly think it would be a waste of time, my trust is absolutely shocking, I've already started drafting a feedback letter that I will send after the birth pointing out the many things that have gone wrong in my care to date, not a complaint, just want them to be aware that staff are giving out poor advice and at times turning people away due to admin errors. I've completely lost trust in the system, so much so that I will seriously consider going private for any future pregnancies. I'm going to go for a long walk later and stay upright on my ball all day and hope baby turns back, it feels more transverse than breech now I'm up and about. Still frustrating given I was told the head was engaged last week!!

40+1 here today and no sign of baby. Pretty sure my 2 year old has scarlet fever. Not sure what this means for me?! Awaiting a call back from the doctor Confused

Dweebette · 17/02/2020 09:56

@LolaLollypop oh no!! Poor you with a poorly toddler to contend with at this stage as well, I'm sure you're exhausted! Maybe it's better if baby stays put for a little while to give your daughter some recovery time

OP posts:
LolaLollypop · 17/02/2020 14:11

Scarlet fever confirmed. DD seems to have turned the corner now which is a relief. She is still contagious though so we can't go anywhere. Just praying I don't come down with any symptoms now! facepalm

cliare · 17/02/2020 15:28

Another baby here! No name yet. 9 pounds 13. Labour thick and fast at 6 hours followed by hefty blood loss but so glad she's outside and not inside anymore! No name yet!

LolaLollypop · 17/02/2020 21:07

Congratulations @cliare! 9lb 13oz wow!!! Well done you!

So it finally seems like things are starting for me. I'm having regular but manageable contractions. So hard to know what's going to happen, will I last til tomorrow morning when I can get better childcare for DD1 or is this going to be a 2am mad panic arrghh. Everyone tells me the second is quicker but does that mean just the active bit?? I'm managing ok at the moment- no TENS needed but I do have to stand still and let the contraction pass. Eeeek Confused

Dweebette · 17/02/2020 21:17

@cliare congratulations and wowzers, lovely big baby! Did you have a boy or a girl? Glad all is well now and hope you're settling well together

@LolaLollypop that's exciting and great that you're managing without pain relief at the minute, hopefully you get some rest in between. Good luck!
