Congratulations @Cupcakes1234 ! Hope the induction went ok.

Hope they give you some reassurance soon @doublebarrellednurse - must have been really scary for you.

@hazandduck or anyone else with their babies, are you breastfeeding? If so we're prob at a similar stage - I'm really engorged, so she's nowhere near draining a side per feed, and I'm confused about which side to put her on each time to make sure she gets both the fore and hindmilk... any pearls of wisdom? The midwife said alternate every hour which seems confusing as sometimes she feeds every 45 mins or more, but sometimes she might leave a gap of 2-3 hours.

LolaLollypop · 10/02/2020 07:50

Congratulations @Cupcakes1234! Another one of us over to the other side Grin

I'm feeling very sorry for myself after another night awake with acid reflux Angry Honestly thought it was labour yesterday as my tummy was so uncomfortable but it seems to have calmed down this morning. I'm ready for baby to come now!! I want to be able to eat the food I like again lol

@sulkysukey could could try and express some off if you are really engorged. The last thing you want is to get mastitis at this stage. Keep the milk in the freezer for when/if baby takes the bottle a bit later. You can buy the milk storage bags at Boots or any chemist.

Some people will say you need to leave it and baby will eventually sort out the right demand she needs but I found in that early stage I just had wayyyy too much and my DD was not going to be able to drink anywhere near that for months! Expressing some off meant I got the release of the milk but still had plenty for her little tummy.

doublebarrellednurse · 10/02/2020 10:55

Congrats @cupcakes1234 that's wonderful news.

Well for me I'm likely to go home if my cardiology results come back ok today BUT after my scan today they are planning a c-section this week!

Just done my MRSA swabs and am having steroids to prep. 38Wks today and so just being cautious.

This was exactly what happened with my son 13 years ago. Did not grow over 4 weeks! Weird. My body kinda gives up at this stage it seems 😬

lovesT · 10/02/2020 14:46

Congratulations @Cupcakes1234 ! I hope you're doing well 😊👶

Anyone who has had babies before - if you had braxton hicks, did you find they increased more closer to going into labour? I'm getting them more often the last few days but don't know if that's any sign or just something that happens towards the end 🤷‍♀️

ballsdeep · 10/02/2020 14:53

Just an update, I had my baby girl 38+6 on the 1st Feb. 9lb 2oz she's a beaut. Super fast labour,.all done under 1 HR 30 mins! Congrats to all the Feb babies born xx

doublebarrellednurse · 10/02/2020 16:46

Congrats @ballsdeep 🥰 that's a good size! Well done you

sulkysukey · 10/02/2020 16:50

Thanks @LolaLollypop - the engorgement's not too bad yet, but I'll take your advice if still rock hard tomorrow - she's doing well at draining quite a bit just not emptying. I've got milk storage bags arriving tomorrow so will wait for those - couldn't face pumping and dumping that precious stuff! She's put on weight today at her 5 day check so at least the sleepless nights are having the desired effect! 😴

Congrats @ballsdeep!

Can't help re: Braxton Hicks as all 3 of mine have been induced.

Looking forward to hearing more baby news. Here's a pic of mine to help get the oxytocin flowing!

lovesT · 11/02/2020 08:40

@ballsdeep congratulations! 👶

@sulkysukey soooo gorgeous, thanks for the oxytocin boost 😆

It's my birthday today but feeling super tired because I was awake a lot of the night with back pain that kept coming and going, it carried on this morning before I got out of bed but seems better now. I thought baby would come on the one day I'd prefer her not to 😂 on our way to go for breakfast so hopefully I'll get to enjoy that. Might have a birthday nap later 👍🥳🥳

LolaLollypop · 11/02/2020 13:31

Congrats @ballsdeep! 9lb 2oz wowzers!!

After being sure something was kicking off on Sunday night with an upset tummy and cramps.. everything seems to have settled back down again now! 39 +2 today and tummy feels quite settled - albeit a bit tight.

I'm sure this was when I started feeling labour pains with my DD so we'll see what the next 24 hrs holds! I thought I'd be earlier with this one but it doesn't look like that's the case...

hazandduck · 11/02/2020 23:11

Ah congratulations and welcome to the new babies!

@sulkysukey so I would consider myself a bit of a breastfeeding expert I did 15 months I had thrush, mastitis, tongue tie everything to overcome with my first child so I am feeling absolutely devastated right now that I think I have to stop. Cleo had her tongue tie cut yesterday and fed really well all night although she has not once emptied my breast. I came down so ill today with mastitis again I am sweating and shivering and don’t trust myself to look after my baby. I just want to weep. I have so much milk I can’t wear any clothes. Literally I just walk with a towel constantly under them. Everything I wear is drenched I leak constantly I am constantly engorged and burning up.

I’m sorry to rant I just don’t know what to
Do with myself and feel like I am letting my baby girl down but I I honestly can’t go on like this. However the best way to
Clear a blockage is keep feeding...but then I produce more milk.

I hope everyone else is getting on better than me feeding :( we’ve had one good night last night where I got 2 hour blocks of sleep. Before that it’s been every half hour because she falls asleep with the effort of trying to keep up with my milk flow. Then wakes up 10 mins later because she is still hungry. DH is giving her formula and some expressed tonight. X

sulkysukey · 12/02/2020 02:20

@hazandduck oh poor you it sounds really dreadful. Are the midwives any use in terms of providing possible solutions? I've heard about feeding through mastitis but is there no other treatment to help you feel better? It must be really hard to contemplate stopping now but as you said you need to find any way to get yourself feeling better - the recovery period is draining enough as it is, let alone with mastitis to deal with. I hope you got a bit of rest while your husband fed her? Sending virtual hugs 🤗

doublebarrellednurse · 12/02/2020 06:44

@hazanduck I hope you're feeling ok, lots of love to you. Whatever happens you need to be well as well as baby. Good luck x

doublebarrellednurse · 12/02/2020 06:45

Finally home after 4 days in hospital being seeing by Neuro and Cardio they want to follow up after baby is born. Elective Section on Friday as baby is dropping centiles.

Just trying to relax now!

LolaLollypop · 12/02/2020 07:19

Oh @hazandduck you poor thing. It's so tough in those early days!! If you need to give your baby formula to get yourself some rest and get her fed then absolutely do it. Don't beat yourself up at all. Your little one needs her mummy to feel better before anything else. Get yourself well and let your family help with feeding for now. Your DD will be fine.

Managing the over supply is so tricky. If you did want to continue BF then you could try mix feeding for a little while - express the excess off so the mastitis should clear. Freeze and save any milk. Keep your DD latching on when you feel you are up to it so that side of things can continue. But try and get her on the bottle too you you can rest. Your boobs should eventually settle down and the mastitis will clear and your supply will regulate.

Sending you lots of positive thoughts.. It will get better soon! Flowers

LolaLollypop · 12/02/2020 10:57

39+3 today and just had a sweep at the midwife. She said cervix feels good and is already about 2cm dilated! So fingers crossed not too long for me. The next few days would really work childcare wise with my toddler so let's hope the gods align!!

lovesT · 12/02/2020 11:44

@LolaLollypop that's exciting! I hope things start happening soon for you!

I was curious last night so tried to see if I could feel my cervix in the shower, I couldn't find it so feeling like if I were offered a sweep it wouldn't be worth it 😢 so uncomfortable with back pain at night and really uncomfortable tummy tightening though. It's so confusing! Feels like things are happening and then other things just don't seem ready ... feeling grumpy today 😄👍

LolaLollypop · 12/02/2020 12:09

Thanks @lovesT! I really don't want to go overdue so it was either the sweep today or at 40+3. Not feeling anything too unusual yet!

I've been the same as you, sometimes I've felt like things are starting then other times (especially in the morning) baby feels super quiet and content in there!

When's your next midwife appt? Perhaps you can ask to be examined and if your cervix is ready go for the sweep? I think it's kind of thought that if your cervix is soft the sweep is a good idea but otherwise best to wait a while.

Hope the back ache either goes away or progresses to labour for you! My SPD has been bad the last day or so and I'm also getting really crampy legs/calfs. So uncomfortable!

lovesT · 12/02/2020 13:45

@LolaLollypop my next midwife appointment is on Friday so I'll ask her then and see what she says. I should stop being impatient really .. at our antenatal class they said that in France they say your due date is at 41 weeks of pregnancy which I think is better because then at least you expect it to be longer! Then anything sooner is a bonus rather than feeling going past the due date ..

We're very close with our due dates so let's hope we both meet our babies soon! 😊

Dweebette · 12/02/2020 15:06

@hazandduck poor you, sounds like a rough time. Really hope things settle for you soon, you're doing an amazing job regardless so just so what you have to do to get yourself well

@lovesT and @LolaLollypop I'm in the same boat, 37+5 and I'm in so much pain. My back and hips ache, have so much pressure and pain in my pelvis when I walk that it feels like baby is going to fall out (wishful thinking lol) and I've now got carpal tunnel as well. Have had really bad stomach cramps all day but pretty sure it's digestive rather than anything exciting. All this symptom spotting reminds me of when I was waiting for my BFP! Counting the minutes until I finish work on Friday, so ready for a rest!!

OP posts:
lovesT · 13/02/2020 19:31

@Dweebette yes I agree with you on the symptom spotting! This whole thing is just one big testing of patience 😂 sorry that you're uncomfortable☹️ we put ourselves through so much!

Is anyone else's tummy reeaallly tight A LOT? I feel like my tummy has been tight most of today and it gets really hard. Due date tomorrow, trying not to think about it and treat it as a normal day with a normal midwife appointment 🙄

Lots of patience and love to everyone .. we're sooo close 👍🥳🤰

LolaLollypop · 13/02/2020 20:04

Feeling very confused here.. I was so sure I would have had the baby by now! DD Was born 39+4 I.e today so this one has decided to cook for longer! Very puzzled... that's not what the guidebook says lol.
Had some mild contractions last night after my sweep. Went to bed and woke up feeling fine. Felt ok today although I am now losing my mucus plug (sorry TMI).
Also woke up with a cold Confused so part of me wants that to go first before I have to push baby out!

@lovesT I've been having that tightening too. Could be Braxton hicks.. could be the real thing. These babies are keeping us guessing!!

doublebarrellednurse · 14/02/2020 05:23

Morning all how is everyone's Valentine's Day?

Officially I'm booked for a C Sec today but we will see how busy they are...

Dweebette · 14/02/2020 05:34

@lovesT I have the tightenings as well, I assume they're braxton hicks as not painful, just odd. Stronger at night.

@LolaLollypop this one is keeping you on your toes!

@doublebarrellednurse good morning! You could have a little valentine baby! Good luck today, keep us posted

Valentines and baby due date today, lots of braxton hicks and baby pushing down but nothing other than that. Just sitting in the waiting area waiting for my midwife appointment.. I've been very lucky to have the same midwife pretty much the whole way through but she transferred to the hospital about a month ago so have had someone who is filling in .. last appointment I was surprised to see it was the same midwife who did our antenatal class! I don't know why but I don't like her all that much and I'm worried it will be her again, but I think I just miss being familiar with the midwife I had before her 😢 will be a bit disheartened if it is her and I don't know why .. I thought she said it would be one of the midwives who is normally here and that would be the one who would come and visit when baby is here .. but I'm sure I heard her voice .. think I'm feeling pregnant and emotional .. 😢😬
