@May2311 No fathers employer don’t need to see the MAT B1 and have no right to ask for it, it bugs me that they don’t know the process! And my husband is saying ‘well that’s what they’ve asked for, I have to give it to them’

And you’re absolutely right about your partners paternity leave too!

@Raindancer411 Yeah I think that’s what I’ll have to do to keep the peace! But I’m still annoyed!

@sazzlerazzle I've decided to just leave him to sort now. I know we have a few months left I just don't want to be going into labour without knowing what's the score!!

I'm starting pregnancy Pilates this morning- physio suggested it for my PGP. Looking forward to it but the amount of exercise stuff I'm doing for it you would think I would be cured by now😂😂 we are then excitingly starting the nursery- well nothing major just emptying the spare room of all the junk & bed and putting it in the loft. Plasterer comes on Monday. I'm excited that in a few weeks we can start having things in place for our baby girl ❤️💕Xxxx

@May2311 aah it’s so satisfying having that big clear out and then walking into the empty room knowing you can get started! We’ve got all our furniture now and I can’t wait to get it in the room, we just need to paint it first (I say ‘we’ but I mean my husband 😂)

@sazzlerazzle @May2311
I'm literally lay on the sofa while 'we' paint the baby room lol.
To be fair, I have just been sick and I have a chest infection.
I've picked out all the furniture, just need to do the order. I'll try post some picks of the finished room once it's done.

All our furniture has just turned up. The room has been barely used since we moved in. It was gutted and redone completely - plastered, painted, new carpet, blinds etc so it’s all ready to become a nursery 😊

Our spare room feels empty at the moment as we got rid of an old falling apart wardrobe, and waiting for new drawers to arrive. It just has a double bed and side tables in for guests still.

Hahaha yes it's my hubby who is actually doing the sorting/lifting. I've popped out to get a little snack- chocolate caramel shortbread from greggs 🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋😋😋😋 i crave them like mad at the moment. I have to limit myself though as I literally could eat them constantly🙊🙊🙊

@May2311 I'm so glad you've said about pilates as I have found one local to me but wasn't sure if it would be suitable, and I forgot to ask my physio on Thursday. Will you let me know how it goes?

We dont currently have a spare room for a nursery but have sorted through 3 boxes of girls clothing thats hopefully getting sold at a car boot tomorrow. Also planning to decorate our room with brand new furniture over the next month, then i can finally put up little mans crib and sort his clothes out. Its so exciting nesting isnt it, makes it more real!

@sao81 It’s so silly because I know for a fact they don’t need to see it (it’s only stat paternity not an enhanced package). Plus he has worked there for years and they know me well too, it’s a small business and we socialise with the bosses... it not as though they’re asking for it in case he’s lying! Anyway, I’ll send a redacted version and they can like it or lump it. I’m just being mardy 😂

@mintbear you’re right to not be painting or doing anything strenuous! Especially with a chest infection. Put your feet up x

@woollycat oh I love Next baby things, they’re adorable and such nice quality. I bought a ton of things for my nephew which then got used for my second nephew when he came along and so much of it is still lovely now, my sister is giving them back!

@november90 ooh I was going to ask about this! Not yet but it’s getting there and some days definitely more than others, I assume depending on where baby is positioned.

Also while I remember, has any bought or can suggest the best baby monitor?

@sao81 it was actually really good. I've never done Pilates or yoga before but found I really enjoyed it. It was quite easy going which was good really- there was some bits I could tell will help by being able to feel the muscles working if that make sense!! Xx

@woollycat I could spend every penny on next clothes, I get so much for my daughter from there and already got him a few bits, the quality is the best I've found.
@november90 belly button still in tact, but when it happened last time I remember crying because I didnt like how it looked 😂 dreading that moment!
@sazzlerazzle we used an angelcare one last time, it had a sensor that goes under the cot with an alarm on that detects babys breathing, which helped paranoid me settle at night
@May2311 I'm glad it went well! I think ill give it go a myself xx

@sao81 it's hard to reassure an anxious parent. the advice i got from others is to avoid the sensor mat because it tends to beep and freak you out rather than reassure you. i asked the paediatrician and they don't recommend it. a basic sound monitor is sufficient. i must admit i got the camera with sound and we used it until she was 2. looking back i'm glad i didn't spend the money. anxiety is heightened rather than reduced by extra monitoring. i found the mummy hormones ( even more if breast feeding) really got you in tuned with baby. i often woke up 30 secs before baby woke up - maternal instinct really kicks in if u r not under an influence of alcohol or sedatives/ drugs.

sao81 · 19/01/2020 16:15

@facevalue I didn't know they weren't recommended, I'd always say its funny how I'd wake up just before she did, but then would struggle settling myself even if she was fast asleep as I was so scared something would happen, but I think now half of that was the PND kicking in too!

We had a snuza alarm with our first. Tiny and portable which made it easy to take to nanny's house or away with us. It clips onto the nappy and if no breathing is detected after 15 seconds then it vibrates to startle baby and then will sound an alarm. It meant I didn't have to worry about him rolling off of a mat or not switching it off every time I lifted him out of the bed. We got a video monitor for when he went in his own room and probably used the alarm til he was 10 months ish. It just made it easier for me to fall asleep peacefully and without worry. It only went off once for us and obviously it was the one time daddy put it on wrong and the alarm ended up in the foot of the sleepsuit 🤣 I'll be using it again!

I had angel care monitor last time. It did come with a sensor mat too, but I never ended up using it. I was way less paranoid than I thought I would be, especially being a paeds nurse. I heard lots of stories of babies moving from the mat or the sensor not picking up properly and alarming and I thought I would end up panicking more than I needed to! I think you have to use whatever makes you feel more comfortable. If I had the money, I would have got a video monitor as it would have been helpful to know sometimes once baby is older and more cheeky if you actually need to go in to them or not!!

Thanks ladies, good to hear experience and thoughts on sensor mats as I have been looking at these. I’m a worrier and I do think I’ll worry more with one of these! But I definitely want a video monitor... just find that they’ve all got such mixed reviews!

Not sure about newborn stage, but for later - I use the Dormi app with my toddler. You need another device to act as the monitor (but most people have an older phone in a drawer, right? Smile), but it's a really great way to keep an eye on baby without investing in an expensive video monitor. It's free, though upgrading isn't expensive at all.

Ladies I'm heartbroken. 8 years together, 1 year married and my husband has just unexpectedly walked out on me and our son. He will obviously still be involved in our son but said I make him unhappy for too many different reasons. I don't know what to do or where to look :(
