@Sunshine8888 not sure if this helps but this is on the boots website, the one machine you can hire from them compared to two machines you can buy, which seem to be aimed at pregnancy specifically www.bootsmaternityrentalproducts.co.uk/compare_maternity_tens_units.php

I started having a sharp pain in my tummy last night - it's towards the right side, a bit higher than my belly button. Was hoping it would go away but it is worse now. It mainly comes on when I move or change position then settles down a bit. I called triage and the midwife seemed to think it might be ligament pain, but based on googling that pain is usually lower down next to pelvis. Any experience with what I am describing?

facevalue · 07/03/2020 19:16

@woollycat oh babe.. i've had random pains in the front and back - period like and i kept thinking oh shit i'm in labour but then just told myself i'll take paracetamol and if it's ok then obviously it's ok. also i tried to stay on all 4 to allow the weight of baby to come off the back and pelvis to ease the ligaments pain which helped.

truth is if u r worried or it's unbearable then just pop in to the assessment unit and get someone to look at u x whatever we say we can't possibly know. it's your body and your baby so trust it x hope it settles.

I'm getting quite a bit of pain on the top of my bump. It feels like the bruising or muscles tearing and I think it's just growth? So uncomfortable if it is though, don't think it's BH's as I had one at the midwife and it was way down low compared to this. Anyone else experiencing similar?

Sunshine8888 · 08/03/2020 13:03

I get pains and aches all over every day, sometimes sharp, sometimes bruising , sometimes achy like period pain... I’m just putting it all down to being heavily pregnant! The period type pain ones in back and low down sometimes worry me a bit as I also think could this be labour... but I just try to stay calm, move position and see. I’m now 32 weeks. Hopefully baby will stay put for at least another 5 weeks past full term 🤞🏻

Hi all, I don't want to start a coronavirus debate (there are plenty of threads for that already!) But if anyone is interested the royal college of midwives will be releasing specific guidance soon. If you want updated info emailed to you this is the link to sign up

On a separate note. I hope everyone has had a good weekend. It seems random aches and pains are getting to a lot of us at this stage. I've had 3 baths this weekend on top of my usual morning shower to try and ease lower back pain!

woollycat · 08/03/2020 20:09

@Pastnowfuture thanks for sharing that link. It's about time they provided some guidance for pregnant women on that topic!

november90 · 08/03/2020 20:18

Ouch my mid/lower back is really really soar today! My 3 year old still loves his cuddles and being carried and I'm finding it impossible now, I feel like I could snap in two 🙈 I suppose I did well to get this far without hassle! Has anyone else packed their hospital bag? I've just bought a new dressing gown and slippers as a little treat to stick in it :)

AlmostAlwyn · 08/03/2020 20:26

I would love a bath! We don't have one though Sad I don't remember feeling at all full of aches and pains with my first pregnancy, but I'm struggling a bit this time. Everything feels like so much effort! I'm getting my toddler to fetch and pick things up for me Grin

facevalue · 08/03/2020 20:58

@Pastnowfuture i don't think you should worry about mentioning Covid-19 - it's all over the news and most of us are worried about the issue. why should we be suppressed from talking about matters that are worrying us!?

thanks for the link it's very helpful. i'm already considering emailing my manager to just go into mat leave from now with this thing spreading. 🥶😩🥵

Came in for monitoring for reduced movements and have ended up having to stay in over night so they can do another monitor tonight and tomorrow morning. Also got a scan booked. Something about a short term variation but I won't quite get it as the nurse found it hard to explain and the registrars all in emergencies.

The nurse was happy with this evenings monitor and now for to try and sleep...

facevalue · 09/03/2020 01:03

@Raindancer411 oh no so sorry about this. is your partner allowed to stay with you overnight? i hope it's all ok with the monitor and scan x well done for getting checked x

Raindancer411 · 09/03/2020 02:22

@facevalue He is allowed and/or can drop in as and when he needs to in the night. However he has to stay home with our son and get him to school tmw morning so I am in here alone. I have managed all of 1 hour of sleep as the bed isn't comfy and it's a bit noisy (which cannot be helped)

Moonstone12 · 09/03/2020 08:36

@Raindancer411 how are you doing this morning? X

Raindancer411 · 09/03/2020 08:42

@Moonstone12 Hardly slept and feel sick for it but the monitoring seemed ok. Now waiting on a doc to see me and my scan :)

sao81 · 09/03/2020 10:59

@Raindancer411 hope all goes well today for you xx

@Raindancer411 I hope you and baby are on lovely, thinking of you xx

Raindancer411 · 09/03/2020 14:55

Thanks all :) I am now home at last!! They managed to get an ok reading at 9pm and again at 7am. Apparently the short term variation is something to do with the blood getting through to baby.

Anyway scan showed that she is going to be small, currently following the 8th centile. Her legs are short but in keeping with the rest of her. They gave me four reasons why she maybe small.

  1. I am petite and just don't have big babies. First was long but 7lb 4.
  2. Genetics issue but tests came back low risk and she said those babies usually do not grow but stay same size. She is following the curve.
  3. Infection from slap cheek or toximplas (cannot spell it) type things but she cannot see any issues with brain development. Had a blood test to rule it out and will take a week to 10 days for those, but she doubts it to do with them.
  4. failing placenta but she did you usually see resistance in the cord and no sign of that.

Got another growth scan in 3 weeks time to just check still growing as she should.

Lack of movement feeling could be as she is breech and I have a high front placenta. Yes she is still a she when they checked again lol

woollycat · 09/03/2020 15:09

@Raindancer411 really happy for the good news. Hope you can rest a bit now. Sending hugs.

Raindancer411 · 09/03/2020 16:01

I feel rough, through lack of food and sleep I think lol

Raindancer411 · 09/03/2020 16:02

@woollycat Thank you 😊

facevalue · 10/03/2020 02:00

my anxiety is through the roof - anyone else suffering 🤪 i don't seem to be able to calm ... i'm up reading all the news...

i have asthma and pregnant - is that a bad combination

😞

Sunshine8888 · 10/03/2020 08:30

@facevalue, what do you think is making you anxious? I have a very active mind which is keeping me awake. Sometimes I can’t tell if I’m
awake or just having really vivid dreams!!

AlmostAlwyn · 10/03/2020 08:53

@facevalue I found avoiding the news really helpful! We don't have a TV, so it was just a case of stopping going to the news sites and hiding any MN threads I wasn't interested in seeing Smile

I think the media coverage of the covid-19 virus has been sensationalised with headlines designed to get clicks and revenue for the outlets providing "information". Watching what is happening minute by minute is not useful or indicative of the current situation (jumps in numbers of cases shows increased testing rather than a sudden spread, etc). Even more reputable news sites are doing it because the fight for clicks is intense. Don't give the click-bait your time!

Have you been doing any hypnobirthing? If not, try looking up the Positive Birth Company on YouTube and try the up breathing when you're feeling stressed. They also have a free positive affirmation track when you sign up for the newsletter which could be nice to listen to when you can't sleep in the night? Smile
