Anyone else's employer being painfully useless about the whole process of giving info and setting a finishing date?

The company I work for are changing over HR people to be fair but I just want a date for finishing now and some pay related questions relating to my contract which no one seems to be able to answer! Just flaming hopeless!

Rebecca612 · 24/01/2020 12:35

Hi ladies! I was on thread 4 and have been super busy and just caught up with everything on thread 5!

We had our 20 week scan that I was super nervous for and everything was fine - we were sent out to have a coffee as baby wouldn't turn in the right position. They think its a girl although can't say 100% so it was a shock to the husband but he's now buying pink dresses for her on his lunchbreak :)

Had a consultant appt afterwards and they explained that because of the large cyst I have that they won't let me go to full term so that's a bit of a worry. I have to make the choice of having a c-section and have the cyst removed at the same time or potentially have a natural birth and have the removal op 6 weeks later. I'm leaning towards the c-section but still looking into options.

Hope you're all doing well, getting closer and closer to May!!

GinUnicorn · 24/01/2020 17:39

@woollycat no my second - and definitely last considering how crappy I’ve felt this pregnancy!

sao81 · 24/01/2020 20:02

just had my second NHS physio to be told thats all they can do for me 😩 I've got a support belt and crutches, have been doing exercises daily even when they really hurt I've tried my best to do them. followed every piece of advice to be told unless I can do the exercises 3 times a day I won't see a benefit. I work full time with a 2 year old it just isn't possible to do 3 lots of exercises a day. She said I need to use crutches to fix my gait and she can see I'm in 'terrible pain' but they can't offer me anything else other than a referral to a doctor. The exercises will help me improve. Feel so fed up 😥

@mintbear ooh no I’ve not had this yet! I’m 26+5. I hadn’t even given it any thought that this would happen!

@helpasisterout have you told them what date you want your leave to start? They have to confirm back to you in writing within 28 days.

AlmostAlwyn · 24/01/2020 20:31

@sao81 that really sucks! Sorry they're not so helpful! Sad Would you try a private physio?

sao81 · 24/01/2020 20:54

@AlmostAlwyn I'm looking on the pelvic partnership now for recommendations, hoping it isnt too expensive

Thank you @GinUnicorn he didn't message me all week until yesterday when he asked when he could have our son. I asked him if he was ok and he just deflected everything onto me saying he feels unappreciated and like a doormat and he's so mad at me. Part of me understands this but I think it's very unfair to be so angry at someone and just Blaine everything in them. People's actions impact other people's and maybe if he would look at himself and the fact im pregnant he would understand it more! Anyway I responded with a heartfelt message taking responsibility where is was needed but also saying he should've communicated to me before he ever felt like this! I told him to not reply to me and think about it all. He's obviously not in any frame of mind to be understanding. To top it off my 3 year old has tonsillitis and very irritated ears and is on antibiotics which require a really strict eating schedule and he is a nightmare at taking them and is being an absolute nightmare in himself! Stress levels are extremely high right now!
My friends visiting me today so my mums looking after my little boy so I'll get a break for a few hours...
I'm also stressing about finances as I just don't know how to work out what I'm entitled to and I'm so worried how I'm going to cope finically! I know my husband will give me some money when we finish pay off our wedding ina couple of months... but it won't be enough to give my children the life I wanted to and dreamed of :(

Caspianberg · 25/01/2020 07:37

Catching up with everyone. 26 weeks here now.
Had first baby stuff delivery yesterday. 10 tiny newborn reusable nappies! So cute (will no doubt fit all of 5 mins)

My back is now pretty sore. The bottom part feels constantly bruised. Have glucose test and next scan next week.

Sunshine8888 · 25/01/2020 09:44

Happy 26 weeks @Caspianberg, I am also 26 weeks today. We are into double digits now! 98 days to go until my due date

facevalue · 25/01/2020 10:47

@mummyje20 scan Wednesday!

@november90 oh dear. let him cool off. it's ok to admit if u think things can be done differently if u try again. like you said he's too charged up at the moment so let him be. sorry about your son. good job you are living with your parents so you get help.

@sao81 i had this problem in my last pregnancy and had physio and hydrotherapy- i don't think you are being fobbed off it really just doesn't get fixed until u give birth - nice they tried all these things 😓 mine disappeared day 2 after having my DD. felt like it never happened almost like i imagined the problem. hopefully yours will go too x

@Rebecca612 sorry to hear about your cyst - i highly recommend the elective Csection if you r needing an operation regardless. i had a fantastic experience with mine. all planned clean organised and u recover so quickly x goodluck

facevalue · 25/01/2020 10:48

@Moongirl10 yep! i cry watching adverts and get emotional at random times- sitting in a lecture that mentioned something sentimental 🤪🙄

helpasisterout · 25/01/2020 13:49

@sazzlerazzle I've asked them to confirm I can take holidays at the beginning of my holidays as that will let me give a date I want to finish on. However I may need a certain test organised by HR to judge my level of risk while doing my job.. very niche but no one seems to know what the correct procedure is so I am just guiding them best I can 🤔

sazzlerazzle · 25/01/2020 18:29

@helpasisterout aaah I see! Oh that’s really annoying as it sounds like it’s totally out of hands then 😩

Clairesoph · 25/01/2020 19:27

@Caspianberg yay, what nappies have you gone for? I've been building a stash of newborn nappies too! I use them on my 18 month old already but only started when he was 4 months so never had teeny ones 😍😍

facevalue · 25/01/2020 21:36

@Clairesoph @Caspianberg ladies can i ask you .. talk me through how you actually do it? so it's a cloth you tie? or metal clip? u put a disposable absorbent pad inside? like inside of nappy? then you keep binning that? or is that also washable? with my DD we used to be changing nappies none stop definitely more than 6 per day! do you laundry everyday? no soaking ?

sorry i would like to join this as i'm feeling awful guilt about the environment and all the nappies we have and are using😑😑😑

Clairesoph · 25/01/2020 23:01

@facevalue it can seem quite
Overwhelming at first but once you get your head round each part and what works for you then it's amazing! I wash every other day and use mostly a pocket nappy, this stuffed with 2 absorbent pads and then I use a thin disposable liner to catch the bulk of the mess. There are some really good pages on Fb if you search cloth nappies uk or google the nappy lady - she has a questionnaire you can complete and she will advise you based on your answers. Some areas have a local cloth nappy group where you can hire nappies to try too. I'll attach some pictures that may help a little xx

Great, I am coming down with a cold again - second time in less than 2 months! Last one was horrific, let's hope this one is milder. I wish I could just enjoy my 2nd trimester given how crappy the 1st one was. Rant over 😬😀

Caspianberg · 26/01/2020 07:19

@Clairesoph @facevalue - I have gone with the tots bots range. Teenyfits for newborn, easyfits for afterwards, and the bamboozles with wrap for overnight. The teenyfits and easyfits are an all in one type, bamboozles 2 part. Have only ordered the teenyfit so far as the others family might be ordering for us via amazon wish list.

Heres a how to video:

facevalue · 26/01/2020 09:01

@Clairesoph @Caspianberg thank you both. i'm very tempted and will definitely now look into it . not sure about my husband on MIL feelings about it but 😳 I LIKE the idea. i'll keep you posted x

Caspianberg · 26/01/2020 09:14

Regarding Tots bots nappies, 'natural baby shower' has 10% off them and has done for months as far as I can see, seemed the cheapest place I looked.

SwiftlySwifty · 26/01/2020 14:32

We like the look of the Bambino Mio Solo - all in ones. This is our first baby so we haven't tried them yet but have watched lots of YouTube reviews and they look good.
They have 15% off everything on their website today too!

CharlieB93 · 26/01/2020 18:00

Hi all, hope you are enjoying the weekend (or what’s left of it)
I’m really struggling atm, I feel so uncomfortable and feel like there’s a lot of pressure at the bottom of my stomach. It’s even hurting to bend over. I’m thinking surely it’s too early to be this uncomfortable? If so, I’m dreading the next 15 weeks!
Anyone else suffering?

mrsf1204 · 26/01/2020 18:24

@november20 I can't stop thinking about you and your situation, I'm just so mortified for you and I can't understand why he's being like he is. I imagine there is more to your story obviously but I'm really concerned about you and making sure you don't blame yourself and that you take care of yourself. I'm just so sorry you are going through this.

I know you probably want to remain anonymous but if you ever want to message me privately please do. Also my mum and dad are solicitors if you needed any advice on what you are entitled too? Or there are other support lines you can call. Have a look online and please make sure you are taking care of yourself xx

helpasisterout · 26/01/2020 22:11

Any of you folks who have had babies before care to advise on how many/what size items to buy for baby? What a minefield of conflicting info!

Got a bit from a friend in up-to one month and 0-3 months but assume I will need some newborn stuff so just wondered how many of each item to get hold of in advance?

Thanks for all help guys!!
