With DS we didn't use the travel system after he turned about 10 months so I'm so glad we didn't spend a lot. Instead we bought a lightweight stroller, have used that, which was £75, for so much longer - it's been on 3 holidays, he was using it for naps still last summer when we went away - that'll be the last time he uses it though i think, he's coming up 4 shortly. Still kept it for this one though so no outlay there.

Zoey92 · 14/01/2020 16:07

@newbyxx i just looked at that travel system online, they looked lovely, after reading your comment I went online and had a look and I really like the titanium grey one including the seat base for £369. You may have helped me find my travel system because I was feeling very overwhelmed looking at everything😂

@newbyxx I really like yours too! It looks a lot like the icandy 😊

What shops are good for looking at pushchairs? Mothercare used to be good but obviously that's no longer about.

TMI but has anyone's nipples started leaking yet? I've just gone to get in the bath and noticed mine is!

Zoey92 · 14/01/2020 17:06

@chocolate26 not leaking yet but jesus christ they're itchy 😂🤦‍♀️

peetieswie · 14/01/2020 17:58

I bought an egg pram yesterday! Couple selling it who have used it with one child, all looks in good condition. £300. I got navy as we're not finding out gender.

Also been considering the cybex lie flat car seats but then I heard they're really heavy so I'm a bit worried I should go for a lighter one. Will wait and buy the car seat nearer the time as we're obvs getting that new.

I'm also still feeling sick when cleaning teeth. Also pretty knackered but not as bad as first 12 weeks. My friend's mum has started taking my dog out in the afternoons with her autistic son which is great as dog is tired when I get home and doesn't need entertaining!

Getting nervous for my scan (31st) now in case something is wrong. Friends keep telling me I shouldn't be thinking like that but I'm clearly a worrier!

Mj2196 · 14/01/2020 19:09

@peetieswie we picked a cybex today . I didn’t think it was overly heavy tbh but well worth it for the features

My scan is also 31st& I’m a bag of nerves !

peetieswie · 14/01/2020 20:02

@mj2986 was it the q or the z you got? I heard the z is lighter. My friend messaged me to say she has two friends who got the cybex lay down ones and said they both don't like it. Not sure what to do now as that was the one item I was sure I was getting.

Mj2196 · 14/01/2020 20:32

We got the z with the rotating base , and I actually went in to look at maxi Cosi and ended up with that . A lady come in to pick up a cot mattress whilst we was there and she had her baby in it and said she loved hers but the safety clip wasn’t worth it . We still went for the clip though as it was included in the package

newbyxx · 14/01/2020 20:55

@Zoey92 @chocolate26 ahh glad to of helped haha I love it and so much cheaper! It arrived today but I'm keeping it at my mother in laws as suppose to be bad luck to have in your house,
Not opening it untill after 20 week scan
Which is now Monday instead of Tuesday 😊 they phoned me today and changed it! Nervous
Thought just hoping everything and as
It should be! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

At what point is it not bad luck to have it in your house?! Surely one needs to prepare at some point. Plus what if it is your second child!!!

Lemonysherbet · 14/01/2020 23:21

@Pegase I've never heard it's bad luck either, we've not ordered a pushchair yet but we've got everything else in the house!

Pretty sure there's a few 20 week scans tomorrow, hope you all enjoy it :)

It's nice knowing we can properly think of names now. I've also been looking at NCT Vs nhs antenatal tonight. Probably worth mentioning if you want to book NCT then I would say do it asap as they're all booked up near me already. We are probably going to go for a mid range priced private antenatal class, and maybe do the NHS one too. So much choice it's overwhelming so I've parked name picking and travel system research for this week 🤣

AmyMaria2 · 14/01/2020 23:51

@Lemonysherbet my scans tomorrow, really nervous & excited. I'm also looking into antenatal classes, going to do the NHS one but also looking for good private ones! Name choosing is a nightmare for us, putting that on hold for a while.🙈

20+0!

Smiffette · 15/01/2020 06:33

@Pegase I think it's some old superstition, I have heard of it before and was t planning on putting stuff up in our house until we get to 30 weeks

newbyxx · 15/01/2020 06:49

@Pegase I've got the crib and bouncer and things already in the house, it's just an old wife's tale about the pram it should be the last thing in the house before baby, loads of women buy before obviously though x

Cb31 · 15/01/2020 07:51

@Lemonysherbet yeah I've got my scan today. Feeling ok at the moment but I know the nerves will build throughout the morning. Its at 1:20.
I actually signed up for NCT really early because there was one near my house and only a few spaces left. I do feel like I'm effectively paying for friends, but I don't know many other people with children so hopefully will be worth it. My husband is not looking forward to it at all 😂. I've signed up for the NHS ones as well which I'm sure is overkill but it's at the hospital so thought it could be useful x

APD1981 · 15/01/2020 08:08

I've decided against NCT as it's so expensive and I'm not the most sociable of people. I can sometimes get a bit of social anxiety and I like my own company a lot. My sister, best friend, and a couple of other close friends have young children so I feel I can lean on them for support instead. I am doing Parent craft and Hypnobirthing classes through the NHS though.

I've decided it's time to give up my gym membership. I'm a member of a health club at a local Macdonald Hotel and I just can't justify the membership now. I'm not using it anywhere near as much as I'm so exhausted all the time. I've found a pregnancy yoga class locally instead (did regular pilates at the gym) as I've heard good things about pregnancy yoga plus I like swimming but local leisure centre has convenient times for me to swim and I can just pay as I go. I've been a member for the gym for years so it's scary giving it up but it's £60 a month I'll get back!

Pegase · 15/01/2020 08:37

@newbyxx Ah if it's just the pram that's different- can't afford the damn thing at the moment anyway!!

hjbows88 · 15/01/2020 09:06

I very nearly gave up my gym membership @APD1981 but I’ve forced myself to keep it on AND to start going minimum of twice per week. Like you I’m doing swimming and yoga or Pilates (modified) and would like to take baby swimming there in the future and get back into HIIT classes post birth. It’s w struggle though, my motivation has been zero but I know it’s good for me and baby to do something!

Smiffette · 15/01/2020 10:23

I've just signed up to 121 hypnobirthing, the lady doesn't do classes anymore and she was recommended so I figured I would stick with her! First session isn't until end of Feb! But very much looking forward to it!
NCT starts in March, my DH won't be looking forward to it! 😂 but I am! I haven't looked into the NHS ones yet but think I'll just stick to the NCT ones for time reasons.
I'm still managing to get to the gym 3 times a week and my member ship is £30 a month so not too bad.... thinking about Pausing it for 3 months after birth as it will be nice weather and I would normally run in the summer anyway!

Cornishbumpkin · 15/01/2020 11:43

Just spent an hour catching up with this thread as got really behind. Lovely seeing so many feeling movements, I think I felt little one wriggling when I was singing in the car on way to work the other day. Got one of the doctors at work to do a cheeky informal ultrasound yesterday so got to see them wriggling around Grin I bought the cybex z car seat and serena that both fit the swivel base when Mothercare was closing, got both for £220 with base included. Bought a second hand bugaboo cameleon for £65 and been donated soo much stuff from friends, my spare room is full lol.

umabb · 15/01/2020 13:19

Good luck with the 20wk scans ladies ! I can't wait for mine (still 12 days to go! )

I've not looked at any classes at all. I feel I'm behind at everything now. Brew got some ideas about names and in my case a bit more complicated (English and Chinese name) Confused

Good luck with the 20 week scan everyone. Mine is on the 31st and I am so nervous. I'm naturally a huge worrier so I'm really wishing time away.
We've not bought anything big yet, we're waiting until the 20 week scan but we did buy the wallpaper and curtains for what will be the nursery which is exciting.
There's a pram world in Wigan which we'll be visiting to look at prams.
This thread made me look at classes in my area. No NCT ones but a couple of NHS ones that look interesting, particularly the breast feeding one. Is anyone else thinking of breast feeding? I want to express so DH can bond with baby during feeding too but I feel so lost when looking at pumps.

LillianFullStop · 15/01/2020 14:47

We have the Babyzen Yoyo from DD1 but might look at replacing the cover/seat as it has been through the wars with DD1!

Cb31 · 15/01/2020 15:07

Scan went well! Everything looks good 😊. Was such a relief. Decided not to find out the gender in the end so will be a suprise. It's weird to think that I probably won't have another scan now. Good luck to everyone who has scans coming up! X
