New thread for our July gang 😊

Shall we do a little reminder of who we all are so we can see who is on here - Age, current EDD and if we know our 12 week scan date?

I'll start:

31 - EDD 08/07 - 12 week scan 24/12

@showmewhatyougot Thanks. Glad to know I'm not alone. I'll ask the midwife too about it.

PixieN · 18/01/2020 15:23

I’m getting random pains too and still feel nauseous in the evenings at 16 weeks.

rtg09 · 18/01/2020 18:37

Hi, I’m also due July 2020. First pregnancy, 13+4. Had our scan on Monday and found out we were a week further on than we thought. EDD 21st July :)

Bibinka · 18/01/2020 22:41

Welcome @rtg09 and congratulations!
@PixieN Hoping the nausea settles soon :)

Secondsop · 19/01/2020 14:24

Hi everyone, haven’t been back for a while. Still counting down to 12 weeks (11 weeks today according to pre-Christmas early scan, but nearer 14 by LMP cos I have a long cycle so I’m expecting my next scan to be somewhere in the middle but nearer 11 than 14). Feeling a bit ... off today. Nausea is much improved and I have some appetite and energy for the first time in weeks. And I had a bit of pale yelllow mucus when I wiped earlier after the loo (had it a couple of days ago but again just 1 episode of it). Feeling quite anxious that things aren’t panning put cos I’ve had a miscarriage after seeing a heartbeat before. I know there’s nothing I can do but wait. Scan is 30 Jan.

Secondsop · 19/01/2020 14:31

For those of you with nuchal and other tests coming through, I found this website v helpful in my first baby’s pregnancy www.arc-uk.org/

I’d come back as high risk for that one because of a combo of age (I was 36) plus his nasal bone wasn’t formed at the nuchal scan and those were the markers that pushed me up. Harmony test didn’t exist then so it was amnio or nothing and I decided on nothing and all was fine (confirmed at 20 week scan). I tied myself in knots about it so I know how you’re all feeling, and I also spoke to a close friend with a baby who has Down’s and who gave me a really balanced view and this all helped in my risk-assessment and decision.

Esztikki · 20/01/2020 19:02

@RedRobin7 Thanks for letting me know you were also PAPP-A-low. Do you know how much by? I was 0.33 MoM, and the midwife rang and said I was first to think about testing for Downs, but that I would receive 3 further scans as part of keeping a closer eye on me - also to watch out for pre-eclampsia signs later on. It all sounded very serious at the time... I wasn’t going to do a Down’s test, but I have booked in for a Harmony for Wednesday, just so we can start to potentially eliminate what’s going on.

It’s funny that they didn’t call you: Iwonder if it’s the NHS and their different regional thresholds? Or maybe your numbers are higher, and so even less risky?
My headaches have passed, and I’m feeling more energised these days (now 14 weeks). I’m anxious but trying to distract myself with all sorts - maybe the ‘benefit’ of being slightly high risk is that we get to meet our baby more often :) :/

Hope you’re all well.

RedRobin7 · 23/01/2020 19:05

@Esztikki Sorry for the delayed reply - I'm currently off sick with a nasty virus!

So my PAPP-A level is 0.32, so slightly lower than yours.

I had the combined test so my results were:

Downs: 1 in 33,000
T18: 1 in 5,500
T13: 1 in 2,600

I'm not sure why low PAPP-A can mean a higher risk of downs. Nobody has really spoken to me about it. I mentioned it to my midwife yesterday and she was very casual about it and just said I'll just have more scans from 31 weeks.

Did they say when your extra scans would be? I've read in a lot of places they are from 28 weeks but mine is from 31 which is annoying!

Anyone work in job where they are on the feet long!! I'm 18 weeks now and my lower back and pelvis and hips are killing me!! Should I ring gp or midwifes?

Bibinka · 23/01/2020 22:46

@Rainbow2020 Hi. My profession often causes stress on lower back etc., but as I work part time I do not suffer as much as I probably would if working full-time. I mentioned back problems to the midwife at the first appointment and she mentioned something about possibly referring me on to physio who can help with pregnancy stretches and back strengthening etc. so I would probably mention you are struggling to the midwife and see what they say.

Bythelake89 · 24/01/2020 09:56

@Rainbow2020 my job has me on my feet all day too. Like @bibinka I luckily work part-time. I've been getting really bad pelvic pain (from my tail bone, down the right side of my bum and my upper thigh) and yesterday I was finding it particularly agonising to move in certain ways (getting up from bed, the loo, cutting my toenails etc). I filled a hot water bottle and sat on it which I think helped a bit. I'm going to the doctor this morning to ask for a referral to a physio ( hopefully one who specialises in women's health.)

DripDrip · 24/01/2020 10:25

I had my second midwife appointment which lasted about 15 minutes. I don't know what I expecting but I wasn't even asked how I was feeling.

Rainbow2020 · 24/01/2020 11:13

Thank you @Bibinka and @Bythelake89 waiting for my gp to call me back... xx

Rainbow2020 · 24/01/2020 11:16

@DripDrip i thought it was pointless too did t take anymore bloods or anything I think the should do it around the 21 weeks xx

Bibinka · 24/01/2020 11:21

@DripDrip Mine took my blood pressure and tested urine again and discussed results and asked how everything was going but was quite rushed so I didn't really feel comfortable asking that much.

RedRobin7 · 24/01/2020 11:49

@DripDrip That's a shame you were in and out so quickly. I had to have bloods again to check baby's blood group because I am rhesus negative. It took 3 attempts for her to get the blood out and eventually it came out of my hand!

Did your midwife not feel your tummy and listen to the heartbeat? It must vary depending on the area but I was with mine for about 40 minutes.

OP posts:
DripDrip · 24/01/2020 12:02

@Rainbow2020 no more bloods and I'm not seeing her now until I'm 25 weeks.

@Bibinka That what mine was like minus the chat.

@RedRobin7 oh no taking blood is always such a faff. No feeling of my tummy or listening to the heartbeat which I was hoping would be done. And both times I went there's not just the midwife but someone else assisting as well.

I guess all I was hoping for was a bit of compassion. Like hey how you feeling? Have you signed up for any antenatal classes? Do you take any vitamins? Are you stressed at work?

Oh I'm just being a bit precious I suppose. I'll make more of an effort myself next time by volunteering info and asking her a list of questions.

Might treat myself to a private scan to find out the sex of the baby. I'm dying to find out. Ain't nobody got the patience to wait until end of Feb. Smile

RedRobin7 · 24/01/2020 12:44

@DripDrip Totally understandable and I would have expected more from your midwife. My next appointment is at 25 weeks but she said see my GP for that. Is yours with the midwife? Keep talking and make her listen!!

My 20 week scan is 3 weeks today. I would love a private scan but we spent £600 on a consultant before 12 weeks so my husband said no more spending on scans! Must learn to be more patient!

OP posts:
Bibinka · 24/01/2020 13:36

@DripDrip I thought they would listen to the heartbeat too but they didn't do that which I would have really liked to hear . She also always has a trainee midwife with her which I don't mind. I've booked a private scan in a week's time ( a wellness and gender one on offer for £49 which includes 4 photos ) as we have friends coming over who are the first of non immediate family we would be sharing the news to. I've been a bit too anxious about it all and discussed with DH and he said if it helps me feel less anxious having a scan before the 20 weeks one then do it..as long as I don't keep having scans after that.

DripDrip · 24/01/2020 14:35

It's so easy to get carried away with private fees they do soon stack up. @RedRobin7 I hope the consultation fee wasn't for anything serious. 3 weeks will soon fly by. I already feel it's going so incredibly fast.

In general I trust my body to do what it's designed to do and I'm sure all is well. I am just taking this as a treat to get to see my little one again. I still stare at the 12 week scan pics lol.

I am hoping to get the full year off work but 3 months would be unpaid. I get 3 months full, 3 months half and 3 months statutory. So I'll need to save money for the 3 unpaid months. What is everyone else's mat like?

I have also started a baby wishlist on Amazon but not bought a single thing yet.

@Bibinka mine is also £49 with a gender reveal balloon. Told them I won't be needing that hahah. A gender reveal party is not really something I'm interested in but it would sure make a lovely insta boomerang. I'm sure the husband will just grumpily say...so American and walk away from that post. I don't have an insta husband unfortunately. Haha

Rainbow2020 · 24/01/2020 21:34

Been to my go tonight and confirmed it's pelvic girdle 😬 reffered me for physio and light duties at work

DripDrip · 25/01/2020 11:19

Oh no @Rainbow2020 hopefully with physio it'll be more manageable. Glad you got an early diagnosis and referral. Light duties at work sounds very sensible. Are you on your feet all day then?

Rainbow2020 · 25/01/2020 11:28

@DripDrip I only work a Monday 4 hours on my feet all day then I rest until Thursday then I'm at work 5.5 hours on my feet and then I rest all week ready for Monday so it's a vicious circle!! Xx

kraykray · 25/01/2020 13:15

Hello everyone, new here. Just after your opinions.
I've had a downs screening back at 1/207, which is low risk. But would you be concerned with this result?

Bibinka · 25/01/2020 14:19

@kraykray Hi. I had a low risk result at 1:169 . We were worried about it but were reassured by others who have had higher risk results than us. I think the blood test and other factors like your age, etc., can make the risk higher. I'm not sure what did it for me because my Papp-A results were okay and so were my nuchal measurements, and general fetal health..so maybe my age? My midwife suggested if we were really worried we could go privately for the Harmony test (about £500), or she could ask about amniocentesis. We decided in the end to not go for either and just wait for the anomaly scan.
