Sorry girls yesterday was manic to say the least!! So I had the first pessary at 10.20 on Friday then a few pains but hadn't dilated when I was examined 6 hours later. So they put another one in at 7 o'clock and I started getting regular pains. At 9 o'clock I had a big gush of blood and the same happened again at 11 so they took me to the labour ward and broke my waters at 1ish. It took a couple of hours to dilate to 2cms then 6 hours later I was at 9! I had an epidural at around 3ish (absolute heaven!) I pushed for 2 hours to find out that baby was facing the wrong way so I was taken to theatre to have a spinal block and forceps. I haven't been well afterwards, more bleeding than expected and my temperature has been high so I'm on antibiotics. But it's all worth it cos our beautiful little girl Daisy was born at 13.56 yesterday weighing 6lbs 8oz 💗 so in love!x

@DaniX91 congratulations!! It sounds like you had such a tone of it but well done you! Lovely name and what a lovely little weight too! :) :)
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

AnxiousandExcited · 23/02/2020 14:08

@DaniX91 congratulations!! Rest up as best you can...
I'm gonna try the Clary Sage but from experience, nothing happens until baby is ready anyhow. Once you are in labor alot of these things will speed it up.
gonna try it tonight anyway. :)

fibeee · 23/02/2020 14:29

Congrats @DaniX91 🎉

Jesskir89 · 23/02/2020 14:52

@barnyb thank you for the tip. @daniX91 congratulations!!! So pleased for you glad you and baby daisy are doing well what a lovely name xx

Has/is anyone going to try nipple stimulation or using a breast pump to bring Labour on? I've heard good things about it but I'm a bit nervous to try it.. I have an electric breast pump I could use. I don't want to 'waste' any colostrum.. does your body just produce more to replace it? X

sadtoday21 · 23/02/2020 18:44

@maria94 I've tried it once, it was hard to do! You have to really press firmly to get the colostrum out, then put it into syringes and freeze to feed to baby later. That way you don't "waste" any. I think you have to do nipple stimulation fairly often for it to have any real effect on inducing labour, but it does seem to work! I'm going to give it a go again once I hit 38 weeks.

jollybobs89 · 23/02/2020 21:59

@DaniX91 congratulations 💖💖💖

MissPepper8 · 23/02/2020 22:26

Congrats @DaniX91 what wonderful news :), hope you're better from the antibiotics soon lovely Flowers x

@maria94 What @sadtoday21 has said is what I'm doing :), they say try not to use a pump first and to hand express if you can as it helps milk come on more naturally. I want to try store some next week (37 weeks) incase I have to have another emergency section :). You can buy 1ml sterile syringes on amazon and use those, plain address labels to label it and freeze it. It keeps for 4 months (I think) and it defrosts in seconds.

Oh and collostrum won't run out until placenta detaches and baby is born (I didn't know that until last week). I followed loads of midwife/bfing accounts on fb and Instagram :).

I remember when I tried it with my son, (clary sage oil aswell) I just had braxtons :(

sadtoday21 · 23/02/2020 23:09

Congrats @DaniX91 I'm so happy that everything went well for you! Wishing you a speedy recovery Xxx.

maria94 · 24/02/2020 08:58

@sadtoday21 @MissPepper8 so I gave it a go last night.... nothing so far. I understand you have to do it regularly for it to have an effect so might have another go later. 39 weeks now and so fed up!!! How on earth do people make it to 42 weeks I do not know! 😖 that's interesting about the colostrum!

AnxiousandExcited · 24/02/2020 11:41

tried the clary sage last night - nothing happened but I am so nauseous today, got terrible stomach ache. Couldn't sleep last night. Either I'm almost there or I have a stomach bug...

sadtoday21 · 24/02/2020 12:03

@maria94 I think it does take a bit of time! Did nipple stimulation and sex last night, but nada. I'm 37+4 and going to give the colostrum harvesting another go at 38 weeks. Also going to try the clary sage bath bombs.

MissPepper8 · 24/02/2020 14:14

I'm 37 weeks on wednesday, I might try harvesting when my syringes come (if anything help soften things for sweep next week! I'm so exhausted :( ).

Um the best method I read, was to do nipple stimulation in the bath or shower or with a warm flannel to trick your body and to make things less sore. You have to do it every day for 15/20 mins (it didn't work with DS on its own sadly).

I dont know about clary sage too much, I read a bit about mixing it with a cup of almond oil and 2 drops to massage your bump, or put 2 drops in the bath with a cup of milk. I sniffed it, it's um quite strong and give me a braxton so it's not for everyone of you're off smells.

Husband refuses sex lol.. He made my back waters go at 38 weeks with ds so won't comply at all. See how he likes it when I get bloody hospitalised for a week to be induced now 😭

sadtoday21 · 24/02/2020 15:34

@MissPepper8 are you having a sweep at 38 weeks? I was going to ask my midwife to do one at 38+5, if things look favourable enough.

MissPepper8 · 24/02/2020 16:25

@sadtoday21 Yeah if she can try hopefully, my consultant suggested it. Think I'll be 38 and 2. I don't want to be induced again if I can help it, I found it painful with pessaries (I was all irratated and sore).

If she can reach I'd say give it a go :), I'm trying raspberry leaf tea to soften cervix, it's giving me cramps so Fx x

MiniJMac · 24/02/2020 19:46

Wow congratulations @DaniX91

Greenview8 · 24/02/2020 20:32

@DaniX91 congratulations glad you and baby Daisy are ok hope you continue to do well

jollybobs89 · 25/02/2020 10:39

Help ladies has anyone had any bleeding? I'm 36 weeks tomorrow had slight spotting Thursday then again yesterday and more today! It's light pink today and was a bit darker yesterday! Went up to the hospital yesterday they put me on a monitor etc said baby was fine but they didn't wanna check my cervix?? Xx anyone had any spotting at this stage? Xx

MockingJay27 · 25/02/2020 10:57

@jollybobs89 I am 36+5 I noticed a couple of lights spots this morning for the first time. I have had a look online and apparently a little light spotting around 37 weeks is normal as your cervix starts to thin. I'm not worrying or calling unless turns heavier xx

momytokondi · 25/02/2020 19:27

Due 19th March
Can I get a wax tomorrow?

momytokondi · 25/02/2020 19:28

Having csection 19/3 due date 22/3
Can I still get a wax tomorrow?

atomcats · 26/02/2020 11:23

@momytokondi no advice around waxing I’m afraid, never had the guts to do it!! Well, there was one rather sticky incident with an immac roll on many years ago but that’s about it! Hopefully someone else might have some advice, or it might be worth posting it as a question on the pregnancy board for people who have “been there, done that”.

I’m now 36+3 and definitely feeling it. I’m exhausted from not sleeping properly and feel so bloody heavy all of a sudden! Four more days until I can’t start doing things to encourage them out 🤞 although I’m working up until 38 weeks so may be not as I don’t fancy the idea of things happening in work or on the motorway!!

How’s everyone else getting on?
