Hey! Just wanted to start up a thread because I couldn’t find another one, just got my BFP today after about 6 months of trying. Due date is 1st august! Still feeling nervous as I’ve had 2 miscarriages in the past but both before 6 weeks, so ill be keeping my fingers crossed and wont let myself get too excited until that deadline has passed!

Hope to hear from other ladies due at the same time, and hear your BFP stories :) xx

Hi ladies is it ok if I join? I got my BFP after 19 months of trying! I’m 35 and this is my first! We were waiting on a fertility referral for months and low and behold this happens weeks before our appointment Shock I’ve a gp appointment tomorrow as only did test on Saturday. Did another this morning as still can’t believe it Grin

MrsC105 · 02/12/2019 15:10

@ladyofearlybedtimes Congrats! How many weeks will you be then?

MaisieMolly · 02/12/2019 16:35

@sallyann1234 congrats! I’m 35 too, it gets a bit scary at this kind of age that it’ll never happen, doesn’t it! Amazing that you’ve got a GP appointment so early. I’m still in disbelief and don’t want to book it yet as I’m so superstitious!!

Jojo19834 · 02/12/2019 17:04

@maisiemolly @MrsC105 @ladyofearlybedtimes @sallyann1234 congratulations on the BFP’s!

There’s a few of us that are mid to late 30’s here and completely get the worry. Fingers crossed for us all!

@ladyofearlybedtimes you are just ahead of us but entering morning sickness time, we are all hoping and praying for it for our sins. 5 weeks sounds like the time it kicks in :-(

re the midwife, call the gp surgery and the reception staff can advise you. I varies area to area. Mines a direct referral but others have to go through GP

@Firstmummytobe I’m massively bloated too, mainly wind tho ;-)

Firstmummytobe · 02/12/2019 17:12

I went to my scan this morning,
All going well and I got see my the most tiny tiny baby!! I’m 6 weeks so two weeks further than what I thought....

The midwife said everything seems to be going well and no reason for concern. My boyfriend has told his parents and they were absolutely over the moon!!

Congratulations everybody that’s new to the group!!!! The brownish discharge is probably implantation bleeding, I have had it it’s completely normal.

I must be the youngest in this group, only 19 but will be 20 by the time baby is here.

How old is everybody else? Xxx

MrsC105 · 02/12/2019 18:43

@firstmummytobe I'm 27.
I don't know whether to book an early scan or just wait?
I have a midwife appointment on Friday next week x

Lucylou22039 · 02/12/2019 19:12

I'm 28 and when I rung the doctors just asked to register with the midwife and I was booked straight in for next Tuesday. Excited and very nervous as this is my first hope everyone is doing well x

blackpinkinyourarea · 02/12/2019 19:55

I was on the phone to my doctors for 30mins this morning before i could get through to the receptionist, only to be told that the community midwife has no slots available until January by which point i'll be 10 weeks! So im awaiting a phone call later this week to be notified when i can be slotted in..
@ladyofearlybedtimes i have booked a private early scan for 21st december too! So exciting :) i will be approx. 7wks + 2 days by that point, what about you?

plantmum · 02/12/2019 20:00

Another early Aug due date!

I found out on Friday, my first pregnancy (I'm 29). I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow and so far no symptoms).

At the moment trying to get my head round the fact I've got to wait so long before the scan and until I see the midwife at nearly 8 weeks I've just got to get by on my own research! Confused

I hope everything goes really well for all of you!

Out of interest... how soon are you telling your parents/closest people?

blackpinkinyourarea · 02/12/2019 20:08

@plantmum congratulations :) what date do you think you are due, i have worked out 6th August. I am 29 too and also no proper symptoms so far, just a flipping headache that wont go away.
I am seeing my mum this friday and i am uhming and ahing over telling her then.. my plan was to announce it on christmas day but i feel like it will be written all over my face when i see her that im hiding something! When are you telling your family?

Jojo19834 · 02/12/2019 20:19

@blackpinkinyourarea that’s awful!! How can they not see you until January when others are getting appointments days after they register?!? Congratulations though!!! Re headache, are you drinking enough water? Also, did you just give up caffeine? Just wondering as progesterone will give you a headache if you don’t drink enough

Mine was an online referral and I did it Saturday, haven’t heard anything yet so will chase in a day or two if nothing. I’m not desperate for my appointment as I am ivf so get a 6.5 weeks scan there but my bmi is higher than it should be so I need extra folic acid which they need to prescribe

@plantmum congratulations to you too! I’ve started telling close family, I don’t want to lie and also if the worst happens I want support, so told them yesterday. What do you think you’ll do?

I just did a clear blue and saying 2-3 weeks and I think I’m 4 weeks 5 days so sounds good to me. Will do another at weekend to check it’s moved to 3+ :-)

plantmum · 02/12/2019 21:18

@blackpinkinyourarea Thank you! And congratulations. I'd say tell your mum when you see her! If you're close, it doesn't matter that she knows before everyone else, I think it's reasonable.
I think we'll end up telling close family in the next couple of weeks before we see them at Christmas. For some reason I don't want to see their reactions in person, even though I know they'll all be really happy, I just find it awkward!
I think I'm due on the 4th.

@Jojo19834 congratulations on your success with the IVF, I really admire you going for it as a single mum!

LanieM87 · 02/12/2019 21:25

@plantmum @blackpinkinyourarea I've already told my mum, dad and brother, I was going to wait a week but we had some bad news last week, so I decided to tell them there and then!

When does everyone plan on telling work? I'm going to use flexi time for my midwife appointment next week as I feel it's a bit too early to tell work, even though I know I'm entitled to the time off.

LucyC2019 · 02/12/2019 22:46

We told our immediate family on Sunday. Just because we know they will be the ones there if it didnt go according to plan.

I'm so close to my mum so was lovely to see her reaction to the news.

I think it just comes down to personal choice... you may choose to tell a few friends instead of family, or keep it just to you and your partner.... I dont think there is any right or wrong way.

As for work.... they wont be told until at least 12 weeks.... maybe a smidge longer as I'm currently in my probation period 🤦🏻‍♀️. But you dont have to tell them until 15 weeks before your due date legally.... unless it says different in your contract. Xx

Sjacey · 02/12/2019 23:08

Congrats everyone I am 29 (30 next month) I took an early pregnancy test yesterday and got a BFP even though my period isn’t due untill Friday 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 the only symptom I have which I’ve had the last 10 days is my boobs felt really heavy and bruised which is what made me take a test in the first place. I worked it out that I am due around 13th of August (if all goes well) I already have an 11 year old son but I’ve forgotten everything as it was such a long time ago but am really excited for what’s to come.

Sjacey · 02/12/2019 23:10

I don’t think I am entitled to maternity leave as I work on a zero hour contract 🙄 xx

NamiSwan · 03/12/2019 06:18

Wow lots more BFP since I was last on here, welcome everyone!

@blackpinkinyourarea I also couldn't get a booking in appointment with the community midwives in my area till January, when I'll be 9 and a half weeks. Apparently they like to see you between 8-10 weeks and the Xmas period meant 2nd was the first available appointment.

I'm not too fussed about having to wait, but this is my third baby and I had to wait till I was more than 8 weeks in my last two pregnancies as well. I think that's just the way they do it in my area (Berkshire).

Is anyone else without any symptoms? I was 5 weeks yesterday but still nothing but bloating, constipation and congestion in my nose. think I may buy a clear blue digital today to put my mind at rest.

We haven't told anyone yet but probably will tell family and close friends in the next couple of weeks. I'll probably tell my work once I've had my first scan as since this is my third I'll probably be showing by then, with my second my belly popped at 10 weeks 🙈😳

Jojo19834 · 03/12/2019 07:36

I’m interested to see when people are telling work. I’m in an awful dilemma as my Finance Manager had a maternity cover and we have kept him on as he is great but I’m having to let him go as I just don’t have a reason to keep him on......but I do, I just can’t say!!!!

Shinyspade · 03/12/2019 07:42

Sjacey, even if you are on a zero hour contract you are entitled to maternity leave and pay. To qualify for SMP you need to earn over a certain amount otherwise you will get maternity allowance.

I am going to phone up today and get my booking appointment. Still super early but with Christmas and New year I would rather get it out of the way!

Had some bad nausea this morning but I think mostly because I didn’t get enough sleep.

Lucylou22039 · 03/12/2019 08:32

@Jojo19834 we finish work for Xmas on 20th December so going to hopefully make it until then without it being obvious. Then I will be telling them in the new year when my scan should be in January. All going well. Hope I don't throw up at my desk or anything before then hahha

LanieM87 · 03/12/2019 09:40

I just don't know what to do! My job can be quite physical and I do moving and handling assessments, so I feel I may need to say something earlier. Arghh!

Girlinglasses · 03/12/2019 10:21

I'm really lucky I'm finishing up at the end of next week for Christmas (🙈) so not too long to go! Hopefully I'll have had a scan before I got back to work on the 7th and will be feeling less nervous.

Polly1116 · 03/12/2019 10:34

Hi I thought I might join in. I got a positive test last Tuesday and then did another one yesterday where the test line was much stronger than the control line so feeling a bit braver now. I'm 35 and this will (fingers crossed) be my 3rd baby. I've had 2 miscarriages previously as well as 2 healthy pregnancies. My first miscarriage was when I was 28 before I had my eldest son, I then went on to have my 2 boys (who are 5 and 3), we starting trying for a 3rd at the beginning of the year and I got pregnant straight away but unfortunately at a scan at 9 weeks it showed the baby had stopped growing around 6 weeks. It's taken a lot of soul searching to come back to trying again, I felt I was pushing my luck trying for a 3rd but we decided we wanted to try again. For this reason we're not telling anyone until we have an early scan around 8-9 weeks. I'm surprisingly calm considering, what happens is ultimately out of my control so I've figured there's no point stressing about it. Sorry for the essay but just thought I'd get it all out there.

Talcott2007 · 03/12/2019 11:58

Might be slightly premature but I got a faint positive on a first response this morning. I'm 33 with a DD3.5 if this one is meant to be I will be looking at a mid August EDD

Marsh04 · 03/12/2019 13:31
