Hey! Just wanted to start up a thread because I couldn’t find another one, just got my BFP today after about 6 months of trying. Due date is 1st august! Still feeling nervous as I’ve had 2 miscarriages in the past but both before 6 weeks, so ill be keeping my fingers crossed and wont let myself get too excited until that deadline has passed!

Hope to hear from other ladies due at the same time, and hear your BFP stories :) xx

@blackpinkinyourarea hope everything goes ok today, thinking of you xx

Jojo19834 · 18/12/2019 08:10

@Frazzlerock can’t wait to find out if you are right! How many weeks do you need to be to find out? I know you find out at 20 week scan but if you had a sneaky one done privately when would be a good time? I have no idea as nothing to compare against, however, boys are easier than girls is that right re morning sickness? My niece is going to hate me if it is a boy, she has two brothers and now 3 male cousins and the devastation when she found out the last was a boy was mega apparently!

Frazzlerock · 18/12/2019 08:18

@Jojo19834 I think the best time to find out is at the 20 week scan. Even then it can be hit and miss, depending on the baby's position.
If you do the Harmony test (from 10 weeks) they can tell you the sex through the DNA.
We won't be finding out this time. If the baby is alive and healthy by he end of this, then the sex will be the nice surprise at the end Smile I did find out with my boys though, and I also had a 3D scan with DS2 which was incredible!

LanieM87 · 18/12/2019 08:37

Is anyone else finding that nausea kicks in after waking up? Mine seems to get steadily worse as the morning goes on. I've not actually been sick though. Just the feeling and a horrible taste.

Jojo19834 · 18/12/2019 08:43

@Frazzlerock had heard the only real guarantee is a boy as a girl could just be hiding her whatsit at scan stage! I want to know though, but can understand others wanting the surprise, each to their own! Looking forward to hearing your lovely surprise!

Frazzlerock · 18/12/2019 09:30

@LanieM87I don't really have much nausea but I did get some last night while lying in bed. Nothing this morning!

@Jojo19834 yeah you're right about the boy thing. I hope your little one cooperates at scan time!

Frazzlerock · 18/12/2019 09:33

I've gone off wholemeal bread. I had to buy some white sliced yesterday and have hidden it so the DS don't find it Grin. I'm always going on about wholemeal being better and we have only ever have white if its a fresh crusty loaf at the weekend. They will question why I've bought white sliced if they find it Blush
I'm hoping the food aversions I'm having are another good sign

Firstmummytobe · 18/12/2019 09:42

@Frazzlerock thanks so much!! It’s so much easier and nicer to just embrace your pregnancy it’s my first and I’m just so excited!!! Positive vibes and baby dust all around ❤️

Moominmiss · 18/12/2019 09:59

I’d actually always been told by sonographers that it was the opposite way around during sexing scans...
So with a girl (I have 3) you see 3 very clear white lines between their legs, something that won’t ever be visible with a boy. However a girls ‘bits’ can often look swollen and be mistaken for a boy 🤷🏼‍♀️

MaisieMolly · 18/12/2019 12:03

Good luck for your scan @Firstmummytobe let us know how it goes!

@blackpinkinyourarea thinking of you x

Lucylou22039 · 18/12/2019 12:13

Hello ladies hope everyone's ok today and all scans go well sending love to you all today.

Sooooo is it stupid of me to already have a list of things I need/want for the baby?

And also there's a car seat I've had my eye on and today deal of the day it has £100 off

Would I be stupid to buy it?

But I would love the seat and and extra £100 on other things wouldn't go amiss would it.

I don't want to tempt fate but my bank balance would suggest otherwise

Xxx

Dollywilde · 18/12/2019 12:23

Haha I know what you mean @Lucylou22039. With Mothercare closing down I am super tempted to get some bargains - but if I’m honest I’m too superstitious, I definitely don’t feel I can until after 12 weeks at least. Plus DH will think I’ve gone mad....

Dollywilde · 18/12/2019 12:24

whispers I may have bought one very cute babygrow the week I got my BFP but it’s hidden away and DH doesn’t know about it Blush

Frazzlerock · 18/12/2019 12:28

Hey @Lucylou22039 it is totally up to you but. personally, I would wait until at least 20 weeks. I've bought so many clothes and things in my last three pregnancies in sheer excitement which obviously still haven't been used.
There will be deals and sales on further down the line so I really would wait. What does your DP/DH think?
I know how exciting it is, and it's soooo tempting to buy stuff. Even my 4th time around I have to stop myself from looking. You'd think I'd have learnt my lesson by now! 😂

DiaryOfaTTCer · 18/12/2019 12:29

Hi everyone, how are we all?

I am currently being wiped out with a cold, I went to the doctors today to get a flu jab and they turned me away because I’m not well enough to have it.

Anyone know if you can take paracetamol in first 12 weeks? Keep reading conflicting things online, I took some last night because my lymph nodes are so painful and now I feel really guilty :(

My friend is currently pregnant and in quarantine in hospital with the flu which is quite scary!

Just caved and went for a McDonalds, I don’t feel motivated to eat healthy at the moment AT ALL!!!

Lucylou22039 · 18/12/2019 12:34

@Frazzlerock @Dollywilde thanks girls you have talked sense into me

My DP would not be happy, as he's still cautious.

I have only bought one thing and it is a changing bag in a really good sale the other day. But I justified that by I can always sell that if anything wasn't to go to plan as it's nothing personal to the baby.

Roll on the 12 week scan in January

Frazzlerock · 18/12/2019 12:56

@Lucylou22039 its just so tempting isn't it!
There's a changing bag I very nearly bought in my last pregnancy that I hope to buy in this one.
Also a blanket that I love love love and have been desperate to buy all year which is about £65. It was reduced by about £25 in the Black Friday sales, but I held back. I had it in my online basket and just thought "what am I doing!" So I closed the tab and tried to forget about it. It's so hard!

MaisieMolly · 18/12/2019 13:04

I’m so superstitious and cautious I don’t think my partner or I had even said the P word yet... Confused

Dollywilde · 18/12/2019 13:39

Ha @maiseymolly - we’ve said that but can’t refer to it as ‘the baby’ yet. If we need to refer to it we pause meaningfully and gesture in the vague direction of my stomach Grin

MaisieMolly · 18/12/2019 13:55

@dollywilde Grin

blackpinkinyourarea · 18/12/2019 14:47

@Dollywilde @Frazzlerock @Jojo19834 @maisiemolly thank you for your kind words Smile i had an internal scan this morning and everything seems to be progressing well! I even saw the heartbeat which was surreal, amazing and a relief. Its measuring around 3mm which puts me at about 6wks, whereas i thought I was 7 tomorrow..! I still had some brown spotting this morning whereas last night was pinky orange, but it seems to have stopped for now. Guess its just one of those things but its bloody terrifying!

blackpinkinyourarea · 18/12/2019 14:48

(Pun not intended!)

Dollywilde · 18/12/2019 14:51

Oh my goodness what a relief, I'm so happy for you @blackpinkinyourarea Smile and to see the heartbeat - amazing. What a rollercoaster of a 24 hours for you though!

Frazzlerock · 18/12/2019 15:09

Oh I'm thrilled for you @blackpinkinyourarea!! You must be so relieved!
Please send some of your good luck my way Grin

Frazzlerock · 18/12/2019 15:10

How are you getting on @Firstmummytobe?
