@facevalue I agree OH only during labour 😂

Bulldogmum21 · 23/11/2019 21:52

Hi im new on here. Due May 2020 too, fiest pregnancy, 15 + 3. Was going to book a private gender scan in 3 weeks but reading the posts will it show now/ in next week or so?! Thanks

Kgreen87 · 23/11/2019 23:54

Hi new here also, 15+3 and first one after couple of miscarriages so I'm very nervous and want to know everything's okay in there! In this in between stage how do you 'know'?! Ive had loads of stretchy pains and congestion but my morning sickness is something of a memory now! Hope everyone is doing well

KerryM1983 · 24/11/2019 04:14

Hi all. I've not posted for a while. Lovely to read some of your posts. I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and have a very obvious baby bump now which is lovely and still very surreal. Eager to have my 20 week scan now. Have been feeling a lot better but just constantly exhausted. Can't believe I'm nearly halfway through!!

KerryM1983 · 24/11/2019 04:15

O and currently not sleeping great as you can see from the time lol.

facevalue · 24/11/2019 04:41

@KerryM1983 lovely to hear your update. amazing progress. any thoughts about gender? are you holding off or finding out?

what interrupts your sleep?

Twitwooo · 24/11/2019 07:06

Hello, another newbie here!

Due 26th of May, have one DD aged 32 months and had one miscarriage earlier this year. Can finally feel I can join in after a clear 12 week scan and low risk combined test results

I've had a horrible time with nausea this pregnancy, still waiting for it to disappear... and for the second trimester glow to begin 🤪

sazzlerazzle · 24/11/2019 07:18

Hi @Bulldogmum21 I believe a few people in the group have been for private gender scans at 16 weeks so you should be ok :)

Hi @Kgreen87 It’s hard not knowing isn’t it and such a long wait between scans! It’s fine that your morning sickness is a thing of the past, just enjoy feeling well again. I think the twinges and the congestion are a good sign things are progressing. Have you got your 16 week check in with the midwife booked in?

KerryM1983 · 24/11/2019 08:28

Hi @facevalue no we are not finding out so it will be a lovely surprise. Are you finding out? A bit of everything I think....active mind, can't get comfy, legs going dead, toilet breaks etc.

facevalue · 24/11/2019 09:06

@KerryM1983 that's understandable. i was hoping we would keep it a Mistry this time. we did find out with my DD but my hubby seems keen to know to bond with baby and says it would be nice to start preparing our girl for a sis or bro!

Raindancer411 · 24/11/2019 09:30

I had my bloods back and I am classed as low risk but when I look at other people's numbers to mine, I am panicking now.

I am 38, and will be 39 the month after baby is due. The top number is what they generalise for my age and my risks are below.

Due May 2020 (Thread 4)
GinUnicorn · 24/11/2019 09:38

@Raindancer411 it’s still really good numbers. Even 1 in 100 is low chance so try not to worry Flowers

sazzlerazzle · 24/11/2019 09:39

@Raindancer411 I’m 35 and my result for T21 was 1:1100 and I’m ok with that. Look at your number in comparison to what would be the assumed risk for someone your age - it’s great!

Raindancer411 · 24/11/2019 09:41

Thanks both 😘 I am an anxious person but like you said, I am trying to tell myself they are a lot higher than they have on the expected numbers :)

woollycat · 24/11/2019 09:41

Interesting that you all are getting exact numbers from the NHS combined screening. Mine had exact numbers for the age related risk, but the personalized ones just said:

Downs: less than 1 in 10,000
Edward/Patau: less than 1 in 100,000

I wonder why 🧐

Twitwooo · 24/11/2019 09:52

I assumed they don't bother showing anything under 1 in 100,000, I don't know if you happened to have an exact 1 in 10,000 for downs maybe?

Mine had 1 in 100,000 for all with dd and this time it was 1 in 30207 for downs and 100,000 for the rest

I think they shouldn't bother specifying anything over like 1 in 1000 or something as the odds are so small it practically doesn't matter. Just causes distress thinking about how the number could have been bigger still even though it is meaningless. Like pp said, even 1 in 100 is very low as just 1%

woollycat · 24/11/2019 09:53

For those of you who were planning on flying - I had my 9 hour flight yesterday and it was all good. I was 14+3. I wore compression socks that I bought from Boots just in case, and I got up and walked around roughly every 30-45 mins. It helped that we had exit row seats, so lots of legroom and I was stretching my legs out a lot while seated too. If you can, I recommend asking the check in person if they have exit row seats available and explaining that you are pregnant and will need lots of stretching.

sazzlerazzle · 24/11/2019 10:10

@woollycat my result for Edwards/Patau was also 1:100,000 so I wonder if it gets to a figure where it’s just so unlikely that they standardise it as this? I know a few people who got this same number.

Glad the flight went well and have a great time wherever you are!

sazzlerazzle · 24/11/2019 10:11

@Twitwooo it’s really helpful to look at it as a percentage, as soon as you say 1% for 1 in 100 it puts it into perspective :)

Kgreen87 · 24/11/2019 10:28

@Bulldogmum21 we were also thinking of going for a private scan (not sure if want to know gender yet, very different views between me and other half) just for reassurance, but I looked last night at the pictures you get they not so different to 12 weeks so in terms of picture value worth waiting a couple weeks but for reassurance I think worth it too!

Get to see midwife in next couple weeks for 16 week check so she maybe do Heartbeat but I'm thinking as I'm not exactly slim built they might not do it or it might not work which is mortifying!

@woollycat do you fly regularly? I'm thinking of doing a flight but in Jan when I'm 20 weeks + so is this safe to do or not?

woollycat · 24/11/2019 10:49

@Kgreen87 not very regularly, maybe 3-4 times a year. My understanding is that it's safe to travel in the 2nd trimester and you just have to move around on long haul flights as you have slightly higher risk of blood clots in pregnancy, but that's it really. 3rd trimester will depend on whether you are having an uncomplicated pregnancy or not so best to consult midwife as to when is best to stop flying.

fluffyunicorns86 · 24/11/2019 12:53

Thank you everyone I am a little less anxious now I have it in just got to try and rest for 2 weeks with my 3 year old and school runs and that.

Am I only one who hasn't felt baby move yet, well not that I can definitely say is movements anyway.. I am 17 weeks tomorrow.

GinUnicorn · 24/11/2019 16:05

@fluffyunicorns86 is this your first? I didn’t feel my first for ages but I think it’s because I didn’t know what the expect. This I already feel flutters (sorry for this description but it’s kind of like a tummy fart) but it’s only as I know what to expect.

sazzlerazzle · 24/11/2019 16:37

@fluffyunicorns86 I’m glad everything has gone well with the stitch :) Don’t worry about not feeling movements yet. My midwife said I might not feel anything until 21 weeks. I had a flutter last week which I think was movement but nothing since, which is also normal this early on (I’m 18 weeks tomorrow)

fluffyunicorns86 · 24/11/2019 17:30

@GinUnicorn no this will be my 4th child but my 9th pregnancy. When I saw midwife she said they say they dont worry till about 20 weeks but I do know my placenta is at the back not the front.

@sazzlerazzle thank you just hope it holds for me and everything goes smoothly. You think by now I would know but I really not sure I could have felt something n not realised it. I will try keep calm and see what happens. Seeing midwife again at 19 weeks so will speak to her then. Said I can go in as much as i need but also consultant led so got plenty of care for me.

Hope you ladies are all doing well.
