@fluffyunicorns86 oh that must be nerve wracking but if you have a forward placenta I think it can take ages before you feel anything Flowers

facevalue · 24/11/2019 21:28

@fluffyunicorns86 the NHS website says:
At first the movements are very jerky and random but then they start to look more deliberate. You won't feel the kicks and punches until around week 17.

i suspect you will start to feel something in the next 2-4 weeks x don't stress i'm sure it's happening already but u r just not aware yet

facevalue · 24/11/2019 22:50

i just got back from a dinner party and sat next another pregnant guest and we have the exact due date 😂. it was nice to chat about it.

november90 · 25/11/2019 11:45

I think I have felt a few movements here and there but nothing for the past week or so which is making me a bit concerned. When I had a scan the lady said my uterus was very close to the skin so I should feel movements soon! I have my gender confirmation scan tomorrow and all o was to see is a healthy happy baby!!!

Has anyone started thinking names yet? I think we've settled on a name which makes it so much more exciting :)

Clairesoph · 25/11/2019 12:31

I have a seeerrriouuussssss problem with butter cravings. Eating butter sandwiches and cant help think about all my poor clogged arteries! And if its not butter then I want salt and vinegar crisps or chip shop chips with salt and vin 😩

Just felt a few flutters here and there, second baby for me. Still got 2 weeks til 16 week appt and 4 weeks til 20 week scan. Feels like ages and I havent got a clue whats going on in there its so hard to relax

Sunshine8888 · 25/11/2019 15:56

@november90 we have chosen a name but keeping it a secret between us ☺️ Just waiting to be called for my cervical exam. I spend more time in hospital this year than I have my whole life 🙈

@Raindancer411 sorry only just been on but my risk factors are pretty much identical to yours. Last time they were much higher so I’m pretty happy with them this time round so try not to worry x

mintbear · 25/11/2019 17:39

Hey everyone,

I've been silent recently but I regularly keep up to date on all your posts and enjoy reading them.

My sickness has continued (currently 17+4). I saw the midwife last week and she advised I contact the doctors for some different anti sickness pills. I'm now taking these and on the whole, they are working much better. Although I am finding myself feeling/being sick in the evenings again, most of the time it's just acid, not food (sorry tmi).

I've really been struggling with food because of the sickness. All I've eaten since about week 4 is white carbs and sugary plain things. I've tried on occasion to eat healthier meals but I literally just throw them back up, I'm slowly trying to reintroduce different foods.

Unfortunately, the midwife picked up glucose in my urine, not surprising given my recent horrendous diet, my bmi and history of diabetes in the family. I have the fasting blood tests tomorrow and I'm so anxious.

I know they will say I have GD and I'm so upset about it, I was seeing a PT before falling pregnant to get back into shape after coming off antidepressants and having a huge weight gain. However, we fell pregnant straight away which although we were trying, was a bit of a shock.

I also have needle phobia, which I know sounds ridiculous seeing as I'm pregnant, but I've had therapy and this was part of what held me back from having children earlier. So a double blood test tomorrow morning is going to be tough.

Feeling like a Debbie downer right now, I'm just finding it all a bit too much. Sorry for the long post.

@november90 we've got a name, if it's a boy (which I'm convinced it is). At the moment we're settled on Harrison, shorted to Hal if it suits.

november90 · 25/11/2019 17:56

I think we've settled on Beau for a boy which is pronounced Bow. I really liked the name Rwoe but my DH was not keen. We did have a certain boys name which I never saw me not choosing.. Otis. We nearly use it for our first son but it didn't feel right. Again we were certain we would use it but again it just doesn't feel right! Happy we seem to have found a really sweet name though :) We loved Bonnie for a girl... but maybe next time :)

november90 · 25/11/2019 18:19

@mintbear I know it's easy me saying but try and not worry about the GD test. I had it with my first son as I have PCOS. Glucose and protein was regularly found in my urine but that was due to my diet. I had the test and I was fine and I'm sure you will be too ❤️ and worst case scenario and you have it, you're not alone and there will be a lot of support for you. I have a feeling I'll be tested again. My first was 9lbs4oz and my due date for this one keeps getting brought forward due to the size so it's probably a matter of time before I have to go through it. And it being a a big lump in my throat, like I'm sure is in yours! But I think it is just one of those things! I hope you're ok and your tests go well :)

november90 · 25/11/2019 18:21

@mintbear also I totally hear you about weight gain etc! I was in the best shape and healthy eating before I fell pregnant. A really happy and healthy size 8... now I feel about 7394729364 stone and annoyed at myself for eating so bad! But my food aversions have been insane this time round so I'm just going to stop being so hard on myself!

Moongirl10 · 25/11/2019 18:43

@mintbear I had needle phobia too. I had a blood test booked a couple of years ago and I couldn’t sleep because of the thought of it. I’m getting better with them slowly, I find lying down, telling the nurse I’m nervous really helps me. They usually chat to me to take my mind off it and it’s over really quickly. For my blood tests a few weeks ago she actually gave me a stress ball to squeeze and that helped too.

Sunshine8888 · 25/11/2019 18:47

I was a size 8 too and I’m struggling so much with the weight gain. My diet has been appalling so it’s not surprising but I can’t help it! Most of the time I’m just looking fat with no waist rather than pregnant. I just tried on my swimsuit for my spa day in December and I feel like a beached whale 😪 I’m so happy I’m pregnant but I never expected to feel so undesirable

november90 · 25/11/2019 20:25

@Sunshine8888 omg it's so tough isn't it. My self image is ridiculous right now, but I know that I am just being so hard on myself! I keep asking myself... do I really want to be a size 8 and pregnant or do I want to be happy, healthy, realistic and pregnant. After my first the weight came straight off and I enjoyed loosing it... so I'm just trying to enjoy the treats as that's what I need right now 🙈

Clairesoph · 26/11/2019 07:14

@november90 I just keep trying to remind myself that weight gain is temporary but necessary in pregnancy. This will most likely be my last baby (sob) so Im just going with it and trying to enjoy it for all its yucky side effects!

In terms of names I love Archie for a boy and Daisy for a girl. I already have Harry who couldve been a Tommy or Georgia but neither of those names take my fancy anymore 😂 we are in the plain old boring, normal name camp but totally fine with it. Dont want anything too out there when we are plain old Sophie, Jack and Oscar the dog haha

helpasisterout · 26/11/2019 07:26

Has anyone any knowledge from their midwife of sleeping positions once into the second trimester? I generally sleep on my side but woke up this morning on my back and it just made me curious if this is a 'thing' or not!

Raindancer411 · 26/11/2019 07:48

I always thought you were meant to try and sleep on your left side but in the night I change position and wake up on back or left Hmm

Pastnowfuture · 26/11/2019 09:27

I'm a back sleeper and have been advised to sleep on my side, ideally the left. Midwife said this was important in 3rd trimester but I'm practising now. She also said not to worry if I wake up on my back. I'm finding it harder than I ever imagined to change from my usual sleep position. I toss and turn for ages!

CharlieB93 · 26/11/2019 11:01

I've just been to my 16 week check up and rather typically... found out i'm rhesus negative! anyone else?

woollycat · 26/11/2019 11:39

@CharlieB93 yes, I am also Rh Negative. I haven't spoken to midwife about it yet though, my 16w appointment is next Friday.

CharlieB93 · 26/11/2019 15:24

@woollycat oh! Rather naively i've never even heard of it. After some googling it looks like it shouldn't cause problems unless its your second etc pregnancy?
They've done a blood test which can separate baby/dads/my DNA so they can see what blood type the baby is - how amazing is medical technology. I think after this I may have to have an injection?

Bumpingalong84 · 26/11/2019 16:26

Hey ladies, hope everyone is well. Just trying to catch up on everything.

@CharlieB93 I’m O -ve, didn’t cause me any issues in my first pregnancy, had to just have anti-d once I’d had her which is a quick injection. The only advice that you should have been given is that if you have a knock to your bump you need to call in and I think they give you an anti-d injection.

Moonstone12 · 26/11/2019 16:55

@CharlieB93 I'm A- if baby is also a negative blood group then you won't have issues. If baby is positive then you'll need an anti D injection. They have changed how and when they give it through all my pregnancies (I guess protocol changes regularly)

I've already had an anti D injection because I bled at 15 weeks and I hadn't had the blood test to predict babies blood group until 5 days later 🙄

I'm hoping this one is a negative as the anti d is a bloody painful injection and once is enough for me 😂

Moonstone12 · 26/11/2019 16:56

And @Bumpingalong84 is correct. Any bleeding or a bump to the tummy/car crash etc you should call the midwife as they may want to inject you :)
