@woollycat girls are lovely so congrats xxx

@mrsf1204 yellow buddies I’m doing a virtual bump bump now! With work it is tough but try to take it as easy as you can and remember not long now. Flowers it sounds like your employers are putting a lot of unfair pressure on you but remember your rights. They are not allowed to discriminate against a pregnant employee and should be making reasonable adjustments to help you. If the anxiety gets worse maybe go and see a doctor or speak to a Union.

woollycat · 08/01/2020 05:53

I totally jinxed it with the sleeping - been up since 4am 😒

facevalue · 08/01/2020 08:30

@mrsf1204 oh babe. i had difficult time at work when i reported harassment by a colleague. i went down from a bubbly cheerful person to a depressed wish i was dead! i yanked myself out of it by attending counselling and then packing my bags and staying at my parents for 2 weeks. when i got back i felt a little more logical- the negative thoughts stopped being about me and focused on the actual problem. i also found that when u feel crap ur brain exaggerates everything. if you have a colleague with integrity that you can trust then have an honest chat and ask them to join you when u meet with your manager- don't accuse the employer- just say the last 5 months have been extremely challenging and i tried to keep a flout .. ask for support and put down bite size manageable goals until April. ( don't say i'm not performing) say ( i have performed despite my difficulties and i want to be able to do more) .. you'll be surprised how a little confidence in yourself is contagious - they will automatically feel more confident about you xxxx huge hugs

facevalue · 08/01/2020 08:33

@woollycat hehe the story of my life. i took today off to "relax" and my DD decided to wake up at 6:30 🤪🤪🤪 that's my lie in gone- dropped in nursery and i'm just back in bed now😩 hoping i will sleep for a couple of hours 😴

Sunshine8888 · 08/01/2020 08:45

@mrsf1204 I am struggling at work too! Our firm has recently merged and there just seems to be so much additional rubbish to do all the time. I actually can’t wait to leave. I’m finding it hard to be motivated or care about anything which is awful considering I’ll need to come back to work after mat leave. I just feel a bit down generally to be honest. I feel so guilty saying this but I’m not enjoying being pregnant. I really want my baby more than anything but I’m struggling with the discomfort already and restrictions on what we can and can’t have. I’m starting to feel really scared about the third trimester if I’m already feeling like this now. And then I feel miserable for feeling like that when I know others would trade with me in a heartbeat. I feel like a horrible person ☹️

May2311 · 08/01/2020 08:59

@Sunshine8888 do you know what I love about this thread? That it makes me see how we are all going through the same journey!! It was only last night I was saying to hubby exactly that! Pregnancy is so hard- I never clicked before just how hard it is but although I don't wish for any of you to be feeling rubbish or have the negative affects pregnancy does to our bodies- it is so nice knowing I'm not alone!!

We just have to take things a day at a time! It makes it worse probably because we are wishing for time to move quickly so we get to meet our little ones! We are more than half way there now- it won't be long until we are all posting about whether others think our labours are starting 😂😂 xxxx

Caspianberg · 08/01/2020 09:45

Twinnings de-caffeinated seems the best decaf option I have tried so far. I'm importing them at a semi extortionate price as decaf black tea just doesn't exist here.

For various reasons, we have decided to go down the washable nappy route. I'm going to go with the tots bots range.
As everyone seems to say the all in one size is way too big for newborn, we will get a supply of of the teenyfit newborn type. If anyone else has used or similar previously, can you give any heads up on how many is enough and how long they last on average? I'm hoping they last 10 ish weeks and was aiming for 12 teenyfit, and 4 size 1 bamboozles for overnight (will then get the one size for after). Can wash daily, have hot summer weather here for drying, and a tumble dryer if needed. Will get a pack of disposable for hospital.

facevalue · 08/01/2020 11:01

@Caspianberg i love the idea of washable nappies... i just worry about the extra work involved with soaking and washing ... i might look into it.

Caspianberg · 08/01/2020 11:24

@facevalue - They apparently shouldn't be soaked nowadays due to the waterproof layer. I'm hoping to just throw in bin with net liner, take whole net full and dump in machine including net. A 12 minute cold rinse cycle, then a regular 60 degree wash. Thats was google has told me anyway.

We don't get any regular bin collection here, so any disposable isn't exactly convenient either. Any regular waste here we have to take ourselves to waste depot and pay per kg to get rid off. So I figure time to wash is quicker than time to drive regularly miles to dispose of.

Purple29 · 08/01/2020 12:31

@caspianberg my sister used washable nappies with her first, not when he was newborn tho she used disposables then!!

She loved the nappies and never had any leaks. Also for washing she didnt need to soak, just chucked the liners in the bin and then the net bag in the washing. She did them every other day!! They need washed with powder I believe and can add nappysan to the wash to help with stains!! Its convinced me to try them.

CharlieB93 · 08/01/2020 12:40

@mrsf1204 I’m also struggling re work, I love my job but my boss is a ... hes informed me that I won’t be getting a temp to cover me for maternity so I’ll have to ‘catch up’ six months worth of work and the company won’t ‘fork’ out so I can have a child 🙄☹️

helpasisterout · 08/01/2020 14:39

Had my scan all is well and measuring well.. can't believe that all being well the next time I see baby will be at birth! Nothing obvious to suggest boy or girl but have a definite girl feeling.

AlmostAlwyn · 08/01/2020 19:10

I've got my scan tomorrow finally! It's in the morning so not long to wait.

I spent yesterday travelling home (up at 4.30am after minimal sleep, plane and train and home at 2.30pm) and am just shattered today! I spent pretty much all morning sleeping, then napped with my toddler in the afternoon and I'm still tired! Luckily my husband is a super star and has managed everything today.

I really like the idea of reusable nappies, but I just don't know if I'd be able to manage the extra washing load! I looked into them when I was pregnant with my first and was just so overwhelmed by the choice... I did get a load of second hand cotton squares (which also came with a couple of waterproof covers) so I used them a few times, though the cotton squares have been mostly used for everything else (as bibs, burp cloths, and dribble wipes, as well as hair towels, bath mats, dish towels, as kitchen roll and by my husband in bike maintenance, so I can thoroughly recommend them! Grin).

sao81 · 08/01/2020 20:21

Day 1 of the support belt, felt ok but not amazing, took it off tonight and my back is in agony its brought me to tears, getting tingling in my leg, can barely pull myself up out of bed. Just feel so fed up with another 20 weeks of feeling this much pain as I was hoping 2nd part of pregnancy would be more enjoyable

woollycat · 08/01/2020 20:23

Scan went well, I am so happy baby girl is doing well 😍

Sending hugs to those suffering from various health issues as well as issues at work ❤️ Look after yourself and take it easy.

mrsf1204 · 08/01/2020 20:41

Thank you for all the advice ladies. I'm sorry some of you are experiencing similar problems. It seems to be an issue in most palaces. I totally get that it's a pain for companies particularly small when someone leaves to have a baby but at the end of the day a lot of women have babies and thanks to the law we are protected. My meeting today was OK. I think I have a plan in place which is making me feel more in control. So we will see how the next couple of months go.

I just don't feel like myself most of the time, I'm usually so organised and on it and have to be for my job but things literally just fall out my head! I'm so forgetful and distracted.

However I did go for a swim tonight which was so good! I'm getting back into my exercise slowly and swimming is my absolute go to so I'm so pleased my confidence is coming back to get into the water. I hadn't gone for a month and it was weird with a solid bump adding some weight! And a gaping maternity costume - need to get the straps tightened as the people swimming towards me were getting a right eye full haha!

sao81 · 08/01/2020 20:54

@mrsf1204 I'm glad the meeting was ok and not negative! Like you say alot of women have babies, think alot more women would be able to stay in work during/after if workplaces gave you the support needed to continue working! I had a terrible time in my old job, which is partly why I left, I hope things improve for you

mintbear · 08/01/2020 21:40

@sao81 I totally sympathise with your pain, know that you are not alone, it's horrid and miserable.

I was in tears a few nights ago at 2am because it was so painful. I've got another appointment at the hospital to see the physio soon.
I've stopped all walking out and about as it is just too painful (still walking round the house etc)

Swimming (breast stroke) has to stop, I've been advised to get in the pool and do the hydrotherapy exercises I was given, I'll do this on Friday. I've ordered a serola belt (recommended by chiro who specialises in pregnancy) so I'll let you know how I get on.

Dreading going to bed as I think it's going to be another bad night. It's bloody horrible, for me this is currently worse than dealing with the sickness or the gd.

Do you have someone helping you, letting you rest when you can? Are you able to pay/get medical cover for some sessions with a chiro/physio if your nhs arnt offering anything? The outlook for the next 20 weeks is grim - but there are things that can be done to manage the pain.

I've started doing everything at a glacial pace, really really slowly and being over cautious with moving about.

Raindancer411 · 08/01/2020 23:04

I have my consultants meeting tmw, but someone has told me it's more of a paper exercise. Hoping it will be of some use to me though

May2311 · 09/01/2020 07:06

@sao81 sorry to hear you have been suffering really bad!! I'm nearly a week in of using a belt and the initial agony has gone away! I think it is just the body getting used to the different posture/support. I'm still struggling but hoping it keeps the pain at bay( or least helps it not get any worse as time goes on!!) that's my biggest fear that it gets worse and I literally can hardly move/ on crutches for the later stages of pregnancy!! Have you self referred to physio?

I rang midwife yesterday to get my MATB1 form- when I want to collect it they had to do a little check on me( obs etc)and I got to hear her heartbeat( this was the first time I heard it!)😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 she wasn't a happy bunny as we woke her up hehe. There I was moaning at having to faff about to pick up a form because my employer wanted it earlier than the norm but I am nowhere near bothered now I got to hear her little heart!!! Xxxx

BelfastNonBlonde · 09/01/2020 07:19

Hi all - have been following the thread a bit but don’t think I’ve posted before as have had a pretty easy ride of things to date so not a lot to report.
Had 20weeks scan last week and all good. Not finding out sex.
Baby also moving a lot and my husband was able to feel it (ever so lightly) on my belly for first time this morning! So cute..

Yesterday, however, I was pretty suddenly struck by god awful pain in my groin and pelvic/pubic bone area. Feels like a combination of being badly bruised, like I’ve been sitting on a really narrow uncomfortable bike seat for 8 hours, and like a really bad groin pull.. hurts to walk and when I generally shift my weight about on my legs.

I know it’s common and normal to get round ligament pain at this stage, but this is so localised and came on so quickly I’m worried it could end up being SPD/PGP or something - which sound awful so am a bit nervous!

Has anyone been here/had this before?! Going to see how I get on today/tomorrow and if I need to so see midwife about it. Was up a few times last night to the loo and it was still pretty sore so not looking forward to getting out of bed today!

BelfastNonBlonde · 09/01/2020 07:21

Also thanks @Caspianberg and @Purple29 for the info above on the reusable nappies. I’m def going to be trying it and have started researching, so your posts above were most helpful!
I’d be keen to try a few nappies before committing to buying a whole batch of them... know in some areas your can rent for a while etc to try out - must look into that although options probably quite limited in NI!

Caspianberg · 09/01/2020 08:04

@BelfastNonBlonde - I know that in a lot of places there is a good second-hand market also on reusables. There isn't where we live, but maybe worth checking out local to you. I have found youtube pretty helpful to see reviews and guides from people.

BelfastNonBlonde · 09/01/2020 08:26

@Caspianberg thanks! YouTube reviews a good shout!

Sunshine8888 · 09/01/2020 09:11

Thank you @May2311 for replying and making me feel like less of a terrible person x
