@sao81 i'm actually ok this time. last pregnancy i was doing a lot of walking / commuting 3 hours per day and very busy at work ... maybe this time because i'm driving to work and hardly doing anything physical it's not kicked in yet?! my placenta is anterior.

Clairesoph · 07/01/2020 07:05

Went for a wee last night, when I wiped there was some bloody discharge. Then as I went to pull my trousers up I noticed something in my trousers that must've dropped out!? It wasn't discharge, it was a hard pink, blob of some description. It almost looked flesh like with a small amount of blood on too!? I got OH to have a look and he told me to chill, baby is much bigger and at the scan all was healthy. The irrational part of my brain was saying it was a baby toe or something but very strange! Still feeling baby move and no more blood or discharge since but yeah, weird.

Heartburn is ruining my life, feel your pain ladies. Oh and I missed my pregnancy massage last night coz baby brain and probably cried for about 2 hours 🤣

mintbear · 07/01/2020 07:08

@Clairesoph could this have been your mucus plug?

Clairesoph · 07/01/2020 07:16

@mintbear I'm really not sure, I think before when my plug went it was more gooey, stringy but very bloody. I couldn't even squash this thing between my fingers it was solid. I'm hoping that it is a part of me and not a part of baby because as much as OH tried. I defo freaked out. But even if I go to be checked out, I'm not really sure they'd no even where to start?

mintbear · 07/01/2020 07:22

@Clairesoph umm not sure what to suggest, if you can it might just be worth a phone call to the midwife, if anything it's likely to put your mind at rest

Clairesoph · 07/01/2020 07:38

@mintbear I just left a message with midwives, hopefully they will call me back at work and tell me I'm ridiculous and that babies don't just drop limbs off but who knows! 💁🏻 midwife clinic is tomorrow anyway so will try drs and see if I can get in for a bit of reassurance 😩 oh I hate how anxious pregnancy makes me. Thank you for being up early too and replying lol xxxx

Moonstone12 · 07/01/2020 08:09

@Clairesoph oh lovely. I will be honest and i did have a little giggle at it being a baby's toe. I would imagine it's something like your plug or maybe a small infection (thrush or something) and I would suggest just speaking to your midwife but I see you've already left a message.

Are you feeling movements regularly(sorry don't know how far along you are) and if so are they still normal? Is there anymore pink/bleeding? If either of these things I'd call the maternity unit directly and ask to be seen.

Please try not to worry our bodies are leaking all kinds of weird looking things due to growing our lo's.
Hope the midwife calls back soon for you xxx

Clairesoph · 07/01/2020 12:35

@Moonstone12 thank you!! Haha Inknow, so silly but my mind runs away with me. I'm only 20 weeks and a bit so movements aren't really that reliable at the moment but I'm pretty sure I felt him today. Midwife made me feel a bit silly on the phone but I think I needed the reality check 🤣 just had some brownish blood in discharge but could still be from yesterday so I'm not panicking (anymore) xx

May2311 · 07/01/2020 14:24

Have any of you got your MATB1 form yet for your employer to claim Maternity pay? If you do did you just get given it from midwife or do you have to request it?

Mine want it no later than 15 weeks before the end of my expected due date week ( not quite sure what that means) but I don't have my next midwife appointment till after then. Xx

Raindancer411 · 07/01/2020 14:26

I got mine from my midwife last time but was 7 years ago now. Call your midwife and speak to her about getting it in time for work

Caspianberg · 07/01/2020 15:17

How is everyone sleeping so far?

The last week I am being kicked and prodded by baby a lot from around 3am. Today I gave up sleeping and started work (work from home), at 4am so at least had a productive morning.

CharlieB93 · 07/01/2020 16:02

@caspianberg Awful! I've never slept so bad before... No matter what I do I can't get comfy (i've got a pregnancy pillow) Last night i think i got about 3 hours total. I'm dead at work today!

woollycat · 07/01/2020 16:19

I seem to sleep fine so far, except for the 1-2 toilet trips. But I am only 20+5 so far so maybe bad sleeps will come soon!

Sunshine8888 · 07/01/2020 17:34

Caffeine related question. My midwife told me I could have 3 cups of tea a day. I’ve just done the caffeine calculator thing online and it’s saying I’m drinking over the recommended intake and to reduce consumption! I’d also totally forgotten to factor in chocolate and I’ve been eating a load of that recently 😬 now I’m worrying I’m harming baby but also gutted I apparently have to cut out a cup of tea a day! Decaf doesn’t taste the same! What with no wine as well I’m feeling very dejected now!

Sunshine8888 · 07/01/2020 17:43

@May2311 no I’ve not had mine yet. I was going to ask for it at my 25 week Midwife appointment next Friday

keepingiteasy · 07/01/2020 19:13

Hello everyone,
I'm a FTM and 22 week today. I've started to feel some kicks these days - how exciting (and weird!)! :)

@Sunshine8888 I read about the research on the effect of caffeine in pregnancy in Emily Oster's book Expecting Better (which i highly recommend to all expectant moms) and my understanding is that the recommended limit is highly conservative (200mg, which is around 2 cups of coffee, or many cups of tea). Also, the evidence for caffeine having an adverse effect is actually rather weak (she talks about other explanations for the association of coffee and negative pregnancy outcomes in the book, which i find really informative). Since then I've felt much more relaxed about having my tea and occasional coffee. :) I hope this helps!

woollycat · 07/01/2020 19:45

Anyone else has a scan tomorrow? I am soooooooooo excited!!!

GinUnicorn · 07/01/2020 20:07

Oh good luck @woollycat are you going to find out?

I need another team yellow buddy ha ha

helpasisterout · 07/01/2020 20:11

@woollycat I have one tomorrow too! Not going to find out 😬

123Pandy · 07/01/2020 20:13

@woollycat @mintbear @facevalue @Herewego2020
Thanks for your replies!

We had our follow up scan and am so relieved to say that the specialist said everything looks ok. Just so others know...She said the sonographer measured certain anatomical landmarks (in this case, ventricles in the brain) at the wrong depth. So they looked large and the measurements taken were wrong but actually when she remeasured correctly, they are within normal limits
(Phew!)

I feel like I can finally start looking at baby things and enjoy the second half of the pregnancy ☺️

Also - I'm having one black coffee a day and a few cups of decaf tea throughout the day which keeps me awake and midwife said was ok.

facevalue · 07/01/2020 20:55

@123Pandy i'm so relieved for you. someone at work decided to say ( my son is having a baby in april but the baby has abnormalities probably genetic disorder etc first child after IVF) i think my heart broke for the parents 😭😩 ...

i can't cope these days - can't watch anything about babies being hurt or unwell - i sob 🙄

woollycat · 07/01/2020 21:15

@123Pandy yay, I am so happy for you! ❤️

@GinUnicorn I already know it's a girl from my Harmony test a couple of months back 😊 It has really helped using a proper pronoun and imagining her, but I also understand that a surprise has its benefits 🙂

@helpasisterout yay! My scan is at 3:30, will report back afterwards. All the best for your scan, hope it's enjoyable and brings good news! 😍

mrsf1204 · 07/01/2020 21:38

@ginunicorn I'm team yellow too! 😆

mrsf1204 · 07/01/2020 22:17

Is anyone else really struggling with work? Since my managers found out I'm pregnant I've been really heavily performance managed, more so than ever. I'm really conscious that I haven't been performing my best since being pregnant, we had a rough start and didn't know if I would be able to continue the pregnancy so it completely messed with my head and focus. Now we are ok, thankfully, I feel like things literally fall out of my head. I'm less focused, shattered and feel like I'm not performing my best however I feel like the reviews have been really enhanced since day 1 of knowing I'm pregnant. All of this is causing me so much anxiety and stress as I need to keep my job for stat mat pay, I'm terrified I'll loose my job before that and I feel ashamed and helpless that I'm failing. I've also set my own bar so high and failing makes me really beat myself up and sends me into a deep depression. I've had a mental breakdown in the past and all this is making me wobble again. I'm desperately trying to keep calm and positive for our baby's sake but I'm really struggling 😢

Bumpingalong84 · 07/01/2020 22:18

Hi ladies. So much to catch up on again.

@mrsf1204 so pleased your scan went well, I’m rubbish at theories but will say girl for good measure 😂

@123Pandy so so pleased your scan went well. Such a relief when something has to be double checked.

I can’t remember who on here had to have a stitch? I have to have a repeat cervix measurement on Friday and getting slightly anxious as the one at my 20wk scan showed a short cervix!
