Anyone due July 2020

Hi all,

Anyone due July 2020? Sorry if I've missed a thread, done a quick search and couldn't find one...

DH and I were due to start TTC for #2 in the new year, but haven't been actively not-trying. Well something was just niggling at me over the weekend, I just 'had a feeling' if that makes sense... did an FRER yesterday and there it was! that second pink line...

I'm equal parts excited and batshit scared haha. I've not told DH yet, it's his birthday on Tuesday so going to break it to him then.

Hi @Glitterbaby17 welcome and hey to a fellow Thyroid sufferer! I am Hyperthyroid and have been for two years. I have also been diagnosed with Graves Disease recently so all a bit stressful. How are you feeling? My levels still fluctuate slightly but they are adjusting my meds accordingly. I see a midwife but also an antenatal endocrinologist once a month too - only had one appointment so far but due another one before Xmas! They seem to be on it and don’t see why I can’t have a healthy pregnancy this time but it doesn’t stop me worrying.

Is yours pregnancy induced or have you had it before?

RedRobin7 · 04/12/2019 14:39

@AutumnDazed I avoided replying last night as my symptoms have disappeared and I started bleeding brown blood and felt crampy. However, I had a scan today to check and baby is doing fine. Small amount of blood from the placenta but hopefully all okay. So it can be normal for symptoms to come and go.

Rainbow2020 · 04/12/2019 15:23

I have not been sick today but feel sick and it worries slightly 9 weeks today.. could they sickness by slowing down 🤷‍♀️

AutumnDazed · 04/12/2019 15:28

@RedRobin7 am very sorry you went through that, but great to hear all is well! Thank you very much also for your response. My wife is dead-set against an internal scan (she really struggles with smear tests and so has a negative feeling towards internal scan) and so until we are at the 11 week mark she won’t undertake a scan unless absolutely necessary. She is acutely aware of what is facing her at the end of a successful pregnancy however and so far that isn’t phasing her! Thanks once again and best of luck over the coming months :)

Goldington · 04/12/2019 16:12

@Rainbow2020 I am 9 weeks today and my nausea and sickness has really eased off! I’m just knackered and boobs still tender!

Rainbow2020 · 04/12/2019 16:17

@Goldington yeah I'm trying not to worry.. I'm at midwifes tomorrow too so I'll just speak to her.. it's hard cos on one hand I want it to go but then I want it to stay so I know the symptoms are still there!!!

susie12345 · 04/12/2019 16:31

Im not impressed with my work place, i told them i am struggling with fatigue and if i could somehow reduce my hours for the next few weeks however no response since monday! Not happy :(

impatientlyinfertile · 04/12/2019 17:40

@AutumnDazed an internal scan is no where near as painful as a smear. Is it something that professionals are suggesting she needs? Not many people need an early scan x

AutumnDazed · 04/12/2019 18:38

@impatientlyinfertile thanks for your response. It’s not something that has been recommended to us, no. In fact, until we see the midwife next week the only proof we have of us being pregnant are the home tests and her lack of period since early October! Seems amazing to me that women aren’t routinely seen by a GP the instant they find out they’re pregnant! I only mentioned about the internal scan was because I think she would have potentially looked to book a private scan sooner if she knew it would be an external scan. We in fact have a private scan booked for two weeks time, but we may see how the next few days go to see if we need to speed that up somewhat. I think meeting with the midwife on Monday will likely calm nerves as it’ll be a professional telling her something as opposed to an overly analytical husband who spends way too much time on Mumsnet!

Kaz8620 · 04/12/2019 19:09

Hi everyone, so excited to join the club! I think my due date is 10 July from first date of last menstruation cycle. I’ve got my first midwife appointment this Friday so feels like it will be our first milestone reached. I believe I’ll get my scan booked when I meet the midwife, can anyone help explain how they calculate when I will get my 12 week scan? Is it from date of last cycle or estimated conception date?
Calculating dates has been confusing me, sorry if it’s a silky question! Just really hoping I get a scan before Christmas so we hopefully share our news over the holidays Smile

Kiki275 · 04/12/2019 19:18

@Kaz8620 they work out the date starting from the 1st day of your last period. So you're usually 2wks before conception and generally 4wks when you find out x

Kaz8620 · 04/12/2019 19:47

Thank you kiki275, I was hoping that was the case 😊. Also hoping it’s not long after that the nausea subsides too x

Wayekalb · 04/12/2019 20:20

@Mummy2020 been on them since 6 weeks I'm now 8+3 and this weeks just been horrid. Sick without fail every morning and just heaving constantly! Got the midwife tomorrow so will chat with her.

How you feeling today?

Mummy2020 · 04/12/2019 21:25

@Wayekalb oh no that sounds awful! I’m 7 weeks tomorrow. I’ve felt sick all day but not actually been sick until tonight which is up to number 3 now all in quick succession!😭😭

Secondsop · 04/12/2019 21:45

Found the thread again! Went quiet for a few days as I’ve been having lots of appointments. My blood sugar has really been all over the place and getting worse so I’m now on insulin and increased metformin. The diabetic antenatal clinic was really good. Given my blood sugar control was very good immediately before pregnancy I’m hoping the sudden high readings are a sort of good sign that something is really happening? straw-clutch.

mimiroo1 · 05/12/2019 09:55

Was just wonder what the general waiting time is to see a midwife? I'm 8w4d and not had a letter or anything.

Nelbert19 · 05/12/2019 10:13

Hi @mimiroo1 I think it depends on your location, but ideally it’s before 10 weeks.

I self referred 2 weeks ago and still haven’t heard from mine either (I’m 6+4). Sound like you need to chase yours up?

LisaxMarie · 05/12/2019 10:18

Hi @mimiroo1 I had a call at 6+6 and was booked in for the next day which was 7w x

1sttimemum20 · 05/12/2019 12:44

Ladies have partners gone to the booking appointment with you, are they useful for them too?

mimiroo1 · 05/12/2019 12:55

So I called to check on my referral. They told me that they wont contact me until 12 weeks. Confused. I guess that's the standard for London

Julilie72 · 05/12/2019 13:10

@1sttimemum20 yes he is coming with me.. no idea as my first, but he wants to feel involved :)

@mimiroo1 hmm no, I self referred online for St Georges in Tooting when I found out, and just over a week later, I received 2 letters with all dates for next 3 appointments (booking apt, screening/blood, 12 week scan), the first being when I'm 9+4 . So it's a bit weird!

LisaxMarie · 05/12/2019 13:11

That’s unusual because I’m sure some test needs to be done before 10 weeks so may be worth getting a second opinion on that. It could be handy to have partner with you because they do ask for family history on both sides for medical conditions x

mimiroo1 · 05/12/2019 13:28

@lisaxmarie, @julilie72. Thank you ladies. I'm going to try contacting my local hospital to see if I've been referred there. Or to get more information.

Julilie72 · 05/12/2019 13:33

Yes it's really strange, just checked the NHS website and it says the booking appointment should be done before 10 weeks. Maybe try calling again @mimiroo1, it must have been a misunderstanding. But if you referred online to a hospital you should get your letter soon. I got mine 10 days later (6 working days). Smile

RedRobin7 · 05/12/2019 13:38

@mimiroo1 That is quite late! I had to self refer as well but I received two letters within a few days - midwife appointment at 11 weeks and dating scan at 11+6. I'm pretty sure the dating scan can be done up until 14 weeks to get all the measurements. At your booking appointment with the midwife they will do blood tests but I don't think it matters when this is done.

@1sttimemum20 It's not necessary for OH to attend but it's just personal preference. As long as you know his family history then you're fine to go on your own. I didn't take my DH during my first pregnancy and won't take him this time. It's quite a long appointment!
