Hi, I haven't been on for ages as just don't seem to have the time. Hope everyone is ok as the thread is so long I'm not going to manage to catch up.

35 weeks this thursday and so far 1 practise section with contractions up to every 10 minutes. Had this 3 times with DS2 up to every 2 mins, so not surprised.

This one is hyperactive, limbs sticking out all over 24/7, I hope this doesn't mean a baby who doesn't sleep as I already have two sons who don't sleep through!!!

I'm now anemic but also allegic to iron tablets (so I found) so just having to cope with it. DS1 starts school on 20th sept, mornings when I am 38 weeks (my normal delivery time, so far) so fingers crossed for 39 weeks+. Had enough now but also want to get DS1 settled at preschool and DS2 settled at playgroup before no3 arrives.

Sorry mostly moans as not having a good time this preg.. Also trying to finish decorating and get sorted before school home visit this week. Hope to get back soon.

alicet · 27/08/2007 20:07

Everything sounds like its been manic jersey! Hope lo manages to stay put for you long enough to get your lo's settled in school and preschool. Finding it tough enough myself coping with one ds who does (mostly) sleep through and no anaemia (me not ds!) so really sympathise - sending you lots of virtual hugs!

unicorn · 27/08/2007 21:34

hi all,
am in furious cleaning mode at moment - and discovered the miracle that is bicarbonate of soda - it cleans everything!!! Names
Have you chosen yours?
I'm at a loss really, not sure if lo is boy or girl (inkling it is a girl) but we have to be careful as our surname combined with some shortened first names can often = a silly word combination.
My other 2 kids have 3 letter names that can't be shortened - so any suggestions are more than welcome.

Take care everyone (sorry came late to thread so can't keep up with everyone)

j20baby · 27/08/2007 21:49

hi all

just a quickie as am off to bed

unicorn-that was so weird, i was just thinking about what people think of my most recent names, clicked on here and you'd said that!

anyway, i have;

Shannon (current favourite, makes me think of 4 leaf clovers for some reason)
Aleigha (maybe spelt different)
and Tannisha (hope you don't mind btw Lisa, a little girl at dd's school is called it too and i think its really pretty)

i have been cleaning today too, on my birthday! but it needed doing and had nothing else planned, popped to take my fence money round to my dad's and as he's a fisherman, managed to get a crab and a lobster for tea, yummy

welcome back LES

anyway, off to bed now, too tired to reply properly to everyone, will catch up tommorrow.

Unicorn - This lo will be Mairwen Grug (a little girl) - pronounced Mire-when Greeg ... but we are a Welsh speaking household, so it's not so odd!

Mairwen means "blessed Mary" - and Mary means "longed-for child" ... and given that I lost 2 last year, and this lo is my last go at pregnancy, we felt it was appropriate! It will probably get shortened to Mair ...

Grug means Heather in Welsh - after my MIL. (nuf said! ds's middle name is David, for my dad, so we compromised on having a middle name from dh's side of the family)

Have just watched bb ... and haven't laughed so much in ages - when they were doing the quiz!

Speak tomorrow - mw is coming round to do a home visit as the clinic was full at the GP's surgery ... will ask her about my horrendous elephantine feet!

Good night all!

Hello everyone! Feel like sh*te this am. Woke at 2am then again about 3.30 and not actually sure had much sleep in between that. And haven't been back to sleep since. Moved into spare room so I could read without disturbing dh but mjust as I had turned the light off ds woke - 5.50!!! Very early even for him but there was no way he was going to go back to sleep. Have mw appt this am but was going to go to work first. Now think I might stay home till then as there is no way I am in a fit state to work...

As far as names go we have managed to narrow it down to Jake or Adam. I prefer Jake and dh prefers adam and to be honest not sure how we are going to decide....

Unicorn for short and sharp first names (which I prefer too!) I like Sam (ds1's name), Ben (which this ds would be called if our surname disn't start with a T - BenT!!!!) and Max. For girls our first choice would have been Amy.... Good luck!

MrsFish · 28/08/2007 08:37

Good Morning all, bleary eyed today and STARVING, must go and get brekkie before catching up, not usually this hungry first thing, and I jumped on the scales this morning too and am up two pound, stayed the same the last 3 weeks so I suppose it was due

Jersey - blimey I don't envy you one little bit, I have one ds who is 2:4 nearly and he is starting a new nursery next week, I am due at the end of the month so I hope he gets settled before this lo arrives. I am dreading trying to get into a new routine, as this nursery is further away and he is doing different times and not as long hours then I am going to have to add another one into the mix...

Unicorn regarding names, we are calling this one Ben (Benjamin), DS1 is called Sam (Samuel) and other names we liked were Max and Zac.

Other Boys ... Ian, Lee, Dan, Jim, Jon, Jay, Joe see here

Girls... Can't find an equivalent site unfortunately but.. Amy, Mia, Abi, Ali, Eve
or look here

Just a little warning, my mum called my brother Ian, thinking that it couldn't be shortened but all his mates call him 'e' If you don't want a name to be shortened you are best choosing a name with one syllable, thus widening your name search. Its names with two or more syllables that tend to get shortened

MrsFish · 28/08/2007 08:50

J20 - I really like Shannon
Hope you enjoyed your lobster, and Happy Birthday again, I thought it was Sunday

Inzi Mmmm Chinese, I hope you didn't suffer for it in the early hours

My DH is taking one week off too, he's the boss so reckons he can't take off longer seeing as he is off for 10 days the start of the month too What is it with new babies, everyone seems in a spending mood, us included DH gets his bonus at the end of the month so we have been spending it New 26 inch LCD for the kitchen (which he bought home yesterday) and last night we ordered a small leather tub sofa for the kitchen and a new bigger fridge freezer as mine just isn't big enough for four I am justifying it because we haven't had to buy anything new for this lo as we are using all ds1's old stuff

Hope everyone has a good day. I am trying to motivate myself into some housework whilst ds is at nursery this afternoon, but at the moment all I feel like is more sleep

MrsFish · 28/08/2007 09:00

Oh and we bought an elliptical cross trainer too. Cancelled our gym membership and bought that instead, hence the other spending spree, the old 19inch LCD from the kitchen is going in the barn for the cross trainer, hence needing a new one for the kitchen. I best get my bum in gear and use it once this lo arrives

lisad123 · 28/08/2007 09:04

J20 of course I dont mind, I think its a lovely name It means mondays child, dont know if you knew that.

We have choosen Jasmine for this LO. Had it for ages now and wont be changing my mind

Sorry for all of you that had bad nights sleep, just think a few more weeks and these babies will start pooping out
If I deliver when Tanisha was born, I only have 3 weeks left

Unicorn, names

Fin
Kia
Kye
Ele
Joe
Joy
Ali

Cant think of anymore right now

Lisa

Mumpbump · 28/08/2007 11:17

Morning all! Haven't got time to read through this at the moment - so many posts over the weekend! - but just posting so I can find it again in my lunchtime...

Apricott · 28/08/2007 11:48

Hello bumpalicious ones

Just had a quick read through the weekend's posts.

Floria - I can only imagine what you're going through. Do whatever feels right for you, mourning is a very personal thing. Thinking of you.

Lisa - sorry to hear about your LO's worrying heartrate. Hope you get some reassurance soon.

J20 - sorry about your cat. And your crap night out. At least you didn't have a hangover!

Well, that's about the limit of my memory - big hellos to everyone else.

I had a slightly uncomfortable, but generally enjoyable bank holiday doing very little. I nearly finished sewing up my cardigan (a mere 18 months after I started it!). And I started knitting a gorgeous little jumper for the baby. If any of you are interested in simple knits for beginners with really clear instructions, I can't recommend the book I bought highly enough - it's Debbie Bliss's Baby Knits for Beginners (or words to that effect). Really lovely patterns, and explanations even I understand (with diagrams, for those extra preggie-brain moments).

And what else ... we've bought an Amby Baby Nest - it's on its way as I type - dispatched on Friday. Exciting! I keep thinking I must go shopping for maternity pads and other such delights, but haven't got round to it yet. Am convinced baby will be late, so I'll have time to do all this after I finish work, but I guess I ought to be prepared sooner than that, just in case...

Can't believe it's getting so close now!!!! DH is getting the 'my life will never be the same again' fear. He's right of course, but I keep trying to reassure him that things will be different in a good way (despite all the sleep deprivation and so on ) - we shall see!

Right, best get back to it. Catch you all later. A x

ejt1764 · 28/08/2007 11:57

Morning all ... (just about still, I think!)

Well, slept really badly last night ... indigestion, spd pain, you name it ... think I was getting worked up over mw visit this morning!

Anyway, mw has just been and gone and ... madam bean is no longer breech!!! and, what's more, she's firmly engaged (3/5 apparently, whatever that means!) hurray! I feel like I've passed some sort of test!

My swelling is also nothing to worry about, as my bp is nice and low, and there's nothing in my pee ...

Altogether, a fab visit - doula is coming round this pm for a chat ...

speak soon!

Apricott · 28/08/2007 12:04

Great news on all fronts then ejt! V pleased for you. My LO isn't breech any more either - I can feel feet or knees - definitely legs! - at the top of my bump now. Though it's such a squirmy little thing I wouldn't be surprised if it shifted again.

Apricott · 28/08/2007 12:06

So much for me getting back to work!

And obviously, not great news re the lack of sleep, indigestion and spd, , but you know what I mean.

lisad123 · 28/08/2007 12:06

ejt can i ask a spd related question please. I took painkiller last night before bed as was in so much pain from monitoring, and slept fairly well. I dont normally take my painkillers before bed so normally wake up in night and have to change positions. Thing is this morning i could barely move, had to get Darren to help me walk to bathroom and sit onm loo .
Do you normally take your pain killers before bed? Do you find if you dont wake and change position your worse in morning? Just intrested to know.
Cheers

Lisa

ejt1764 · 28/08/2007 12:15

Hiya lisa,
You poor thing, with the pain and seizing up ... right, yes I do take my painkillers before bed, as that is the only time I can absolutely guarantee to keep them down (am still throwing them up during the day ) ... but I take them a good 1/2 hour before I get into bed, so they take hold and help me get off to sleep.

I haven't had a night without waking for a very long time ... I'm usually up for a pee at least 3 if not 4 or 5 times in the night ... and I take that opportunity to turn over (rearranging pillows, having a drink etc) but I know what you mean about seizing up - Jonathan has to help me out of bed most mornings ... if it wasn't so bl00dy painful, it'd be funny!

You may find that it was more to do with the fact that you were exhausted after yesterday, rather than the painkillers ... I really hope you feel better.

ejt1764 · 28/08/2007 12:19

and Apricott, I know exactly what you mean ... ! Apparently the spd may be feeling so bad right now because she's flipped the right way up (or should that be down?) ... now, much as it hurts (!), I can cope with that!

alicet · 28/08/2007 14:01

Hello ladies feeling a bit sorry for myself today. Feeling like a bit of a wimp with all this talk of spd but after probably the worst night's sleep I've ever had I felt far too sick to go in to work. Had hoped that by lunchtime it would be better so I could go in this pm but it wasn't to be... SO have retreated to bed with my laptop for company. At least I only have 5 days left to go!!

alicet · 28/08/2007 14:03

Great news though ejt about your lo no longer being breech - I know how much you want a successful vbac this time which would have been tricky if that had continued to be the case!

Meant to mention too that I had checkup with mw this lunchtime too - all good with lo as well. She's not arranged to see me again as I see the hospital consultant in 2 weeks to discuss delivery - almost certainly a section - and then they keep tabs on me after that. She has said that if I need anything though to give her a shout and she would arrange an appointment. Makes it all seem really soon! Have to say though while I want him to stay put until he's ready that time can't come soon enough for me!!!!

ejt1764 · 28/08/2007 14:55

oh Alice - I really do hope you have a better night's sleep tonight!

And you're not a wimp, to be in pain is just not fun - for anybody!

Sending you gentle hugs!

Seeing that you're not having any more mw appointments brings it home to me ... we'll be having these babies soon! It seems like only yesterday that we were discussing our 12 week scans!

dal21 · 28/08/2007 15:45

Hi everyone! tons of posts and i am afraid cannot catch up with them all.

Sorry to hear about aches and pains...i always try and look on the bright side and think at least we dont have scorching hot weather to contend with on top of everything else! For those still working, it does get heaps easier once you stop and can can relax at home. I have been sleeping and feeling a million times better. Just because I dont have a gazillion things whizzing through my head.

Well I had another appt this morning and bub is breech. So a tentative csection is booked for 20th sept if LO does not turn in next 3 weeks....it is very confusing trying to prepare for two different birth scenarios but am determined to start my perenium massage, RLT and hypnobirthing relaxation techniques!

alicet · 28/08/2007 16:27

Yes ejt time has flown hasn't it!!!

Dal - sorry to hear your lo is breech. I have a fab birth plan sent to me by another mumsnetter about making a section feel more natural - if you would like it CAT me. Also there is a book blooming births which has good stuff in it too... I am also making birth plans for both - will probably go for a planned section after my emergency one last time but want to perpare myself for a vbac too in case I go to labour before then. If this happened I woul like to keep my options open....
