Delbelleber · 13/12/2019 12:15

Hello! I had my 16 week appointment today and heard the babies heart beat 160bpm Also got my scan date for January Grin

TwinklyTwinkle · 13/12/2019 13:22

I've not been getting email notifications from this group anymore, I feel like I've missed loads!
Thats exciting @delbelleber! I had my 16 week scan yesterday but they didn't check the heartbeat or anything, just advised I needed to book in for my whooping cough vaccine!
Has anyone got any hunches on what they're having? Im convinced I'm having a boy for some reason!

sao81 · 13/12/2019 14:19

@twinklytwinkle I think another girl, finding out on Christmas eve i cant wait!

mumofbun · 13/12/2019 15:36

@TwinklyTwinkle I think I'm having a girl but at the start I thought a boy who who knows!

I'm worried I've got flu now. Woke up this morning with sore head and aching wrists and heads. Been asleep most of the day! Probably just a cold but I'm worried

TwinklyTwinkle · 13/12/2019 15:41

Ahhh I can't wait for us to all start finding out! Maybe TMI, but I've developed quite a hairy little belly which is what's making me wonder if its a boy lol! Has anyone else had this?

@mumofbun Oh no!! Have you had the flu jab? Hopefully its just a cold mixed with pregnancy exhaustion..flu before Christmas would be awful :(

TwinklyTwinkle · 14/12/2019 13:12

Also had a chat with my midwife and she was explaining about NHS Antenatal classes and NCT classes (privately paid). Has anyone got any experience of either? My colleagues at work did NCT and have made really good mum friends through it, but not sure whether it's worth it or just go to the NHS ones and try and make mum friends after! Not many of my friends have babies yet so worried about being a bit isolated on maternity leave!

sao81 · 15/12/2019 14:13

@TwinklyTwinkle I never tried any antenatal classes last time and wish I did, as for the first few months i felt so alone. Id definitely try either of them, and try get out to baby groups too once the little one is here!

TwinklyTwinkle · 15/12/2019 16:21

@sao81 Do you think you'll try it this time round? I guess having done it once, you know roughly more what to expect with the birth! Did you manage to get a good network once you joined baby groups afterwards?

sao81 · 15/12/2019 21:37

@TwinklyTwinkle I work full time so it would depend on timings with having another little one! I suffered quite bad with PND and anxiety so I would never really attend any baby groups. I started going when she was about 6 months old and I got myself on medication/counselling and made a few friends. We take her to swimming lessons each week for just over a year and have a lovely group now too! Hoping to learn from last time and keep occupied so i don't sprial again

mumofbun · 16/12/2019 09:51

@TwinklyTwinkle was just exhaustion/a bit of a cold like you said luckily. Not had flu jab which is why i was worried - had loads of hassle getting booked in for it, finally getting it in January i hope!

It's my first so no experience of NCT or anything but planning to try and go to either/both. Not sure what the difference is tbh.

@sao81 did you have any depression/anxiety before becoming a mum? I have so it's something i'm concerned about and know i'm going to have to work hard to make sure i get out and about. Already having some anxiety symptoms creeping back in.

Oh @TwinklyTwinkle not noticed the hairy belly but definitely hairier in general! If i shave anywhere it grows much quicker and also longer than it did before...

@mumofbun I'd have depressive episodes around my mums anniversary but other than that was usually ok. Think the best thing to do (which I will make sure I do next time) is to make sure you get out of the house each day even if its just to the shops for an hour, attend baby groups, visit family, just don't get into the habit of staying in. If you're noticing anxiety now I'd speak to your GP or midwife about it as they may be able to get some CBT for you to help. I hope it passes for you soon xx

mumofbun · 16/12/2019 12:09

@sao81 my current plan is to at least walk to the shop everyday (it's about a mile) as that's what my friend did and she said it really helped her! Getting outside is really important i think. My symptoms are nothing major so far but midwife is aware of my background so can talk to her if need be!

@mumofbun I agree, I wish I'd of done it more, when I first had my little girl it was the middle of a winter, I think it snowed that year too! At least with May babies the weather should (hopefully) be nice to get out!

TwinklyTwinkle · 24/12/2019 07:21

@sao81 Hope your gender scan goes well today, so excited for you!!

sao81 · 24/12/2019 08:04

@twinklytwinkle thank you so much! I've woke up like a kid on Christmas I'm so excited! We are waiting until tomorrow do a reveal with our family and its killing me waiting 😂

TwinklyTwinkle · 24/12/2019 09:17

I can imagine, I'm so desperate to find out and I have 2 weeks to go!! Definitely keep us updated after Christmas if you want to share the news!!

sao81 · 24/12/2019 12:06

Baby is healthy and happy, they think my placenta is low which is why I keep having episodes of bleeding, so going to have further scans to check if it moves

End of May Babe
TwinklyTwinkle · 24/12/2019 20:03

@sao81 That's such a good picture!! Exciting day for you tomorrow with the family reveal! Hopefully the further scans will identify the causes of the bleeding x

sao81 · 25/12/2019 14:55

Its a BOY!! 💙💙💙

Merry Christmas hope you're all having a lovely time xxx

TwinklyTwinkle · 25/12/2019 19:28

sao81 · 25/12/2019 19:37

mumofbun · 06/01/2020 12:15

TwinklyTwinkle · 06/01/2020 19:03

Hi! Happy New Year to you too!
How's everyone feeling?

Had my 20 week scan today.. found out the sex and i'm joining you @sao81 with a little boy! Part of me was admittedly a teeny bit gutted it's not a girl but I'm so excited for adventures with a cute little boy and I've heard they're really affectionate too!
Was really nervous for the 20 week scan and everything was ok except they've detected that he has a slightly enlarged urethra leading to his kidney so I now have to be consultant led rather than midwife led. They've said it's quite common in little boys, so hoping everything goes smoothly 😊

mumofbun · 07/01/2020 15:11

@TwinklyTwinkle i had a good couple of weeks of feeling pretty well and now two days of trying not to be sick in the morning :( Glad your skin was good on the whole!! My husband and I both think i'm having a girl at the moment so i'm worried i might feel a little bit of disappointment if its a boy too but apparently they're easier!
