Does anyone want to start a thread for people due the end of May? I miss having people to chat to on the conception boards!

@mumofbun Aw hopefully they'll be really happy for you! It is nervewracking though! Have you worked there for a while or relatively new?

mumofbun · 14/10/2019 10:04

@TwinklyTwinkle

So i just told him! He was shocked but said congratulations and then told me who i need to inform. After that it was straight back to work chat. I've been here just about 2 years so long enough for it not to be awkward (not that it should ever be) but it's just me and him that run our department so I know he will be worried that he won't get support from elsewhere.

@mumofbun Yay! That's a relief I bet! Hopefully in the 7 months or so you're there, they'll get some support for him - I'm glad he seemed happy for you at least!

Very early thoughts, but has anyone decided how long they'll be going on maternity for yet?

mumofbun · 14/10/2019 10:41

@TwinklyTwinkle i really hope they do, he's been on his own a lot since his last long term help retired.

I was thinking 6 months as that seemed a good balance in terms of financial and emotional reasons however i'm recently worried it won't be long enough. I did start to work out including my holiday entitlement though and think i could have near enough 8 months off if i'm right. I don't see much point going back to work for a week before Xmas so probably starting back in January would make sense.

TwinklyTwinkle · 14/10/2019 12:48

@mumofbun That doesn't sound too bad! I originally wanted to take a year, but the last 3 months would be completely unpaid..so now I'm considering 9/10 months? I'm the same as you and worrying it won't be long enough and I'll wish I'd taken a year! Need to sit down and do all the sums! 😣

mumofbun · 14/10/2019 13:31

@TwinklyTwinkle mine is the same and unpaid for the last 3 months. I get fully pay for the first 3 though! It depends on your financial position but what me and my husband are trying to do is save up the deficit for the months i won't be getting a full wage if that makes sense?

OP posts:
TwinklyTwinkle · 14/10/2019 14:31

@mumofbun Totally! I think that's probably what we'll end up doing too.. I'm not a huge spender either so it should hopefully be manageable! I get 4.5 months full pay and 2 months half but I think its just trying to figure out how much a new baby will cost week to week when I'm not getting anything! My mum said they're really not too expensive in the early months so I hope she's right!

mumofbun · 15/10/2019 12:18

@TwinklyTwinkle yeah that's what i'm hoping too. I was thinking that apart from big purchases that a baby shouldn't cost too much extra until it starts to eat and grow a lot...but then what do i know haha

Hi!

Hope you're all doing ok! Smile how's everyone getting on?

Raindancer411 · 21/10/2019 16:35

Permanently feeling sick and cramps :( Got an appointment Wednesday to see the doc so I can get back to some normality

mumofbun · 21/10/2019 19:34

@TwinklyTwinkle not feeling myself :( took today off because I was quite fuzzy this morning like the start of a migraine. Quite exhausted even though I'm doing nothing! Just want to feel a bit more normal again. How are you doing? X

OP posts:
TwinklyTwinkle · 21/10/2019 23:19

@Raindancer411 @mumofbun 😭 I feel for you guys, the nausea/sickness is terrible! I've been suffering for about 3 weeks and today was the first morning I woke up feeling a bit normal! Managed some toast for breakfast and was so happy!! Was wondering if I'd ever feel normal again 😔 it'll be worth it in the end ladies!! 👐🏾 Hope your appointment goes well on Wednesday @raindancer411!

Out of curiousity, is anyone showing a bit yet? I kinda think I am, but also think it's wishful thinking and just my little jelly belly 😂

mumofbun · 22/10/2019 10:06

@TwinklyTwinkle

I'm def not, if anything i actually think i look a little slimmer. I was trying to loose weight before i found out i was pregnant and even though i've had to give up being so strict and also lay off the exercise a bit, i've actually made my first target weight Confused. Not that i'm planning on weighing myself through pregnancy i just was curious as i felt thinner. I have a little pouch above where i think my uterus is and that's still the same, the uterus area seems a little firmer but no bump

Made it to work today but exhausted. Boss says not to tire myself out and so i might go home after lunch.

For some reason this thread disappeared for me but found it again! So since my last post been diagnosed with hypermesis I'm really struggling with food I've lost at least half a stone I just feel awful 😩

@TwinklyTwinkle the very bottom of my stomach feels firmer, but i have high BMI so I won't show for a while yet probably be around 20 weeks if like my last!

TwinklyTwinkle · 22/10/2019 10:50

@mumofbun Its so hard not to weigh though isn't it!! I keep thinking 'is the baby bigger? Have I put on weight yet?' But its just such early days! Grin It's nice your boss is letting you take things at your own pace too Smile

@sao81 Hyperemesis sounds the absolute worst!! Hope you're doing ok Sad Have you been given any anti-sickness medication or anything?

sao81 · 22/10/2019 11:56

@TwinklyTwinkle I'm doing alot better today thank you! Been given prochlorperazine melate, two tablets twice a day and its taking the edge off. Had toast for breakfast and lunch then some mash for tea, the blandest diet ever 😂 but need to eat and drink or I'll end up on a drip they said which I really dont want

TwinklyTwinkle · 22/10/2019 13:16

@sao81 Ahh that's great news! I'm glad they could give you something to help! Good you've been able to eat too, cos I can imagine the sickness just saps all your energy and eating to potentially be sick again would just put me off everything!! Hopefully you can get some liquids down you cos a drip sounds pretty grim! Sad

sao81 · 22/10/2019 13:52

@twinklytwinkle I've literally been taking my daughter to nursery getting in bed for 7 hours then picking her up again its been tough especially with a nearly 2 year old. 9 weeks in now though so hopefully 3 weeks of 1st trimester and ill be ok. Wishful thinking 😂

TwinklyTwinkle · 22/10/2019 14:22

@sao81 Flippin heck! I've only had nausea and I've been saying to my husband how I can't imagine feeling like this whilst looking after another child if we go for round 2! I commend you!! I'm 9 weeks too and desperately hoping it all disappears when 1st trimester ends..fingers crossed!

mumofbun · 22/10/2019 14:44

@sao81 Oh no poor you! That would be my worst nightmare :(

@TwinklyTwinkle I'm exactly the same, no idea how all these heroes who already have kids cope!

I'm 9 weeks too, 10 on Saturday. Desperate for my scan but no word yet! I'm so so hoping that the 1st trimester will end and i'll miraculously feel better!

OP posts:
TwinklyTwinkle · 22/10/2019 15:00

@mumofbun Im 10 on Saturday too! I got booked in for my first scan in my booking appointment for 11/11/19 so hopefully you should be around then too! Feels so far away!! Did they mention anything in the booking appointment about how they book you in for the scan?

sao81 · 22/10/2019 15:23

@twinklytwinkle @mumofbun the good thing is she can mostly keep herself entertained whilst being supervised (albiet under a blanket on the couch!) Idk what I'd of done if she was more dependant on me. I had my booking app and they sent scans through in the post that same week as well as any other apps I need so bloods, diabetes check etc. My scans booked in for 20th november so ill be just over 13 weeks. I know some areas will book it at the app, others do them at the same time, they should explain all for you and if not just give them a call

Raindancer411 · 22/10/2019 21:05

I am eating mainly bland foods but feeling sick all day and can feel the acid in my tummy of an evening. Got docs tmw and hoping they can help as I am hardly eating and drinking.

sao81 · 22/10/2019 21:14

@raindancer411 hopefully they give you some antisickness to keep it at bay. Try little sips of water or ice cubes to keep hydrated. They arent so much concerned about eating but dehydration is the big thing so as long as you're hydrated you'll get through. Good luck xx

Raindancer411 · 22/10/2019 21:21

@sao81 Thanks :)
