@MissPepper8 I saw a thread on here a few weeks back about heart rates and sex predictions which said that over 140 was a girl, under 140 was a boy. Naturally I quickly checked through my notes to find that baby’s was exactly 140...

Worriedmum97 · 14/11/2019 10:38

Anyone else's baby wakes up and starts moving/kicking every time you roll from one side to the other at night? Mine does this without a fail, not sure if my rolling annoys the baby maybe?

whiskersonkittenss · 14/11/2019 10:52

@Worriedmum97 yep. And when I put lotion on my bump he moves from one side to the other. I must disturb him Grin

sep30 · 14/11/2019 15:43

@atomcats that's so typical 😂mines 142 so it's so close to both which is annoying! Love all these old wives tales, makes the guessing super fun!

Jesskir89 · 14/11/2019 19:22

@minijmac lovely scan pic! How is everyone? I had a call today to say I've got group b strep has anyone heard of this?

MunchyMunchkin · 14/11/2019 20:07

Just realised I’ve been a bit quiet on here of late.
Now 24 weeks and feeling movement ++ as well as having a definite bump now. Still can’t tell in my uniform but when I wore a maternity dress to work yesterday everyone kept on about the bump!

@jesskir89 it just means you need antibiotics in labour or from when your waters go if that is pre labour as slight chance of baby getting infected otherwise. This may change where you have to deliver - not everywhere will facilitate that in the midwife led unit.

Jesskir89 · 14/11/2019 20:19

@munchymunchkin I've been feeling him the last few days too :) Thank you for the update my midwife rang me after to talk me through it and luckily at Oldham hospital I can still go on the birth centre. Google scared me earlier

MissPepper8 · 14/11/2019 20:33

@atomcats you know she actually never told me or wrote it down. I might tell them not to tell me lol.

There was too much panic in mine, couldn't find baby for the first 4 minutes, think I stressed her out a bit 😂

Left is DS and right is baby2, could be blooming twins.

ttc19 · 15/11/2019 20:28

Toilet troubles!!

For the last week or so I've had to poo at least everyday if not twice a day?! It's driving me mad.. I feel like I'm always on the loo 😐 Anyone else?!

Jesskir89 · 15/11/2019 22:24

@misspepper8 they do look like twins lol and @ttc19 yes. I'm usually regular but have been going more than usual too but my appetite has also increased massively the last couple of weeks

atomcats · 16/11/2019 11:23

Sorry for changing the topic, but how are other people getting on with weight gain? I lost about half a stone in the first trimester and was down to 11 stone (I’m 175cm tall - always known my height since the days of Etam/Tammy Girl!!), but since then I’ve been hovering at 11.1/11.2 and don’t seem to be gaining anything. I have a small but noticeable bump and I’m having regular movements so that’s reassuring but I worry that I’m not gaining enough. I’m seeing the midwife on Tuesday which is good but just wondered if anyone else was in a similar boat.

ELW85 · 16/11/2019 13:29

@atomcats - I’m 22 weeks and I’ve gained 6lbs. I’m pretty happy with that, and I keep being told the baby will take what he needs, so I wouldn’t worry if I was you. Interested to hear what the midwife says though 😊

MunchyMunchkin · 16/11/2019 22:19

@atomcats thus gives a good summary of vaguely expected gain but baby will be getting everything from you even if you’re at the lower end.
I’m 4kgish up and at the lower end according to the calculator.

MissPepper8 · 16/11/2019 22:44

@atomcats I would tell mw, have you checked on someone else's scales to make sure it's not yours? Are you really active, in work?

I have hyperemesis, really struggled and I lost 12lb in first tri, it's a bit better now with occasional bad weeks but Ive put 3/4lb back on now but I'm stay at home mum and getting out (when it's dry) for walks.

It's probably nothing to worry about, if anything they'll offer you another scan. With DS I only put on 10lb as I was vomting 24/7.

atomcats · 17/11/2019 02:46

@ELW85 @MunchyMunchkin @MissPepper8 thanks for the replies! I’m relatively active (although nowhere near as much as I was beforehand) and eat pretty well. I’m staying at a friends and have just checked their scales and it’s saying the same as I was wondering if it was our scales. I know the nhs guidance says most weight gain is after 20 weeks so I’m not concerned yet, and the anomaly scan was absolutely fine which was a big relief!

satsumasaturday · 17/11/2019 06:27

@atomcats I'd put on a stone by week 20 but half of that was gained during the all inclusive holiday I went on at week 19 so pretty sure that was food not baby 🙈 I'm still at the same weight as post holiday now at 24+3 - so start of pregnancy 9 stone, now 10 stone (I'm 158cm so healthy bmi but with a bit of squidge still)

I'd mention it to midwife, but wouldn't worry- the baby will take what it needs and leave you with what's left. So as long as you're feeling ok then I'm sure baby's happy 😊

MunchyMunchkin · 17/11/2019 08:26

If you’re normal bmi to start with they don’t weigh you in pregnancy in the uk either which suggests it’s irrelevant as long as no eating disorder and bump growing well.

Jesskir89 · 17/11/2019 09:07

At 22 weeks I've gained 7.5lb and have had 2 holidays during pregnancy. everywhere says in the next few weeks baby will be having a huge growth spurt so expect extra weight so I wouldn't worry too much x

atomcats · 17/11/2019 12:45

Thanks for all the replies! I think it’s the small bump comments that get in my head a little too much. I have a healthy BMI, but definitely towards the upper end so have “excess” to use! I’ll have a chat with the midwife and see what she thinks and go from there. Although her scales come out with a very different measurement to mine (which is why I checked on my friends) so if they’ve been fixed/replaced it will probably seem like I’ve had a good amount of weight gain!!

MissPepper8 · 17/11/2019 16:37

@atomcats iirc it's more bump growth measurements, I've only been weighed when I checked in.

I've got a mw clinic appointment next week and I think that's when they start to measure bump growth (23 weeks).

threegreensheep · 17/11/2019 22:46

@misspepper8 earliest we measure bump is 26 weeks so usually the 28 week appt and thereafter. Ladies I wouldn't worry about weight gain too much, it's very individual and not much evidence to link it to weight of baby. Esp with first baby most women don't start gaining weight till well into 2nd trimester. I weighed myself regularly last time, put on a bit over recommended in the end but haven't even got on a scale at all this time! I know it's more though as bigger bump, I'm eating loads and not exercising enough (20 weeks of sickness put an end to my gym antics!). Oh well, I'll loose it afterwards after 6 months like last time!

ineedanotherholiday · 18/11/2019 10:58

Hi ladies,

Hope all is well with everyone. I've missed a lot of this thread as seem to get signed off, couldn't remember password etc.

On the weight point it's been on my mind too. I'm 22 weeks this week and people keep saying how small I am. I'm small overall and there's a small bump as people are beginning to ask! But the comments made me anxious- I asked the midwife at my and said I'd only put on a couple of pounds, some weeks nothing at all and she said it's absolutely fine so seems as others are saying it's not a big issue.

I haven't gone back through the thread so sorry if repeating but is anyone considering a cybex pram or know much about them? We were looking at the priam with the lie flat car seat rather than the carry cot.

atomcats · 19/11/2019 10:32

Midwife wasn’t fussed about my weight gain. She measured the height of my uterus (read: poked my belly) and said it was spot on. We also checked the measurements from the scan and she was happy with them too. She said that most weight gain is after 30 weeks when baby starts properly fattening up. So that’s a relief! Plus we got to hear the heartbeat again which was lovely ❤️

thankful16 · 20/11/2019 19:50

How is everyone getting on? Is everyone feeling regular movements now? I'm 24 weeks and 3 days and finding the baby's movements quite sporadic. Anyone else feel this? Some days I'll feel her loads and other days not so much or the movements are just less prominent. I think this is fairly normal though and have been told it's not until you are 28 weeks and over that you will notice more of a pattern with the movements though to be fair I've already noticed a bit of a pattern. It tends to be early in the morning and later in the night I feel her moving.

barnyb · 20/11/2019 21:12

@thankful16 yes totally! Some days my baby is very active (like today) and some days it's not as strong or noticeable. (Yesterday!)
Also I notice that when I have an empty stomach (first thing in the morning) she's soooo active ! And when I'm full up/ really bloated I can't feel as much!
I also lay on my back in the morning for about 10 minutes and I see her moving around. It's more obvious when I'm on my back too!
Today I'm 25 weeks and 2 days and for the first time iv seen some HUGE movements when I was relaxing in the bath! it was pretty impressive and shocking haha!
I hope that means that is what it will be like from now on! :)
If you ever feel worried you should always contact midwife or hospital xxxxx
