Hi everyone! I can't find a May 2020 group yet. Most of you don't even know you're expecting yet. I'm due May 1st and got my bfp on 9 dpo. So I'm only 3 weeks 3 days. I feel like I may be lonely in here for a little while.
Looking forward to being joined by other mummies to be :)
This is my 3rd pregnancy. 1st was 7 years ago and I have a 7 year old son. 2nd was 5 years ago which ended in a m/c feeling positive for my rainbow.

@Coastaldreamer my boobs haven't been consistently tender either if that helps! They are typically worse in the morning and then not too bad during the day :)

mintbear · 21/09/2019 10:27

Morning all!
My morning sickness has been pretty grim this week. I bought myself some sweets from amazon, they've helped

@Coastaldreamer I have the exact same worries..feel like I'm just wanting these next few weeks to pass quickly so I can have my first scan and stop worrying!
This morning my father in law popped by to pick something up and I forgot that I had my maternity booklet (for my first booking appointment with the midwife) spread out all over the table as I'd been filling it all out last night! I left him unattended stood next to it for a while whilst I grabbed something upstairs and didn't realise till after he'd left it was all on the table! It was only for 5 minutes but now I'm thinking arghhh he probably saw it...should we just tell both sets of parents?!

mininionsteve · 21/09/2019 13:14

@Coastaldreamer I know exactly what you mean. It's terrifying! I had a big cramp this morning and I've scared myself and have felt uneasy every since. The first 12 weeks is actual torture!!

27Joanna · 21/09/2019 13:59

@mrsg101 @november90 thank you for your recommendations!

Ladies, apparently drinking a warm water with lemon and ginger in the morning helps a lot with the nausea throughout a day x

27Joanna · 21/09/2019 14:29

Is anyone here who has been vaping e-cigarette for a while and finds it difficult to stop now?

I have been vaping for nearly 5 years, always 6mg of nicotine.
When I first got pregnant I immediately stopped but now I'm really struggling and I bought myself a 0% liquid but I'm guessing that's not too good for the baby either.

I just wanted to find out if I'm the only one or are there any more expecting mummies with the same struggle :)

Coastaldreamer · 21/09/2019 14:29

Thanks ladies. You've made me feel more positive 💜💜xx

I’ve just found out I’m pregnant. Eeeek!!! I’m 33 and this is my first pregnancy. Posting it on here feels weird because all I can think about is how things could go wrong, but in some lovely moments in between that, I feel happy and excited.

I have taken about 6 tests over the last 4 days, all positive. From ovulation I’d say I’m 3weeks 2days but from what I’ve read it seems to be dated from your last period which would be 6weeks 1day... so due date around 24th May. I think I’m overthinking the dates and getting confused at how it’s worked out.

First appointment is not until 3 October but no idea what to expect. Apparently it’s just an information appointment (according to the email).

I’m a little out my depth here with all what happens so hoping to absorb all your collective wisdom and experience here. All I want to do is keep taking tests all the time... driving myself nuts! Haha

Smile
MayaRP · 21/09/2019 17:48

Actually, I’d be 5 weeks if it’s from my last period, but the Flo App is telling me 6 weeks 1 day. Very confusing haha.

Whatnext11 · 21/09/2019 17:54

Hi everyone, I think most are a bit further along than me so hoping you can help! I haven't been taking folic acid as we were trying, but really not very hopeful. Can't believe I got a positive test! I'm abroad, so can't see a UK pharmacist for a week, but I got done folic acid tablets. Took one and thought thank goodness I've been able to get hold of them. Only thing is they say there are 5mg and NHS website recommends 400 micrograms, which from googling is 4mg, so the tablets I have bought have more in them? Any ideas? How much do you all take and is anyone on sertraline plus folic acid? Thank you.
Also what is all the number + number about for how far along you are? It's like a code atm, but I'll get there!

mininionsteve · 21/09/2019 18:25

@Whatnext11 congratulations. I'm just taking a Waitrose pregnancy multi vitamin it has the 4mg of folic acid. I think that's the most you get in the shops. The number + is the week plus day. I'm 7+5 so 7 weeks 5 days.

LS83 · 21/09/2019 18:44

Hi @whatnext11, 400mcg of folic acid is 0.4mg. I'm taking 5mg due to bmi but you don't tend to need that much.

I'm hoping to join this thread too. I'm 5+5, second baby. Only my husband and one friend knows. I'd love to join the FB group too (a link above doesn't work for me) x

Whatnext11 · 21/09/2019 20:19

Thank you both, i think I'll take 3/4 of a tablet until I get home, then got some seven seas on order! Must be a different recommended amount here.

AlmostAlwyn · 21/09/2019 20:49

@MayaRP the Flo app is also saying I'm one week further along (7+6 with a due date of the 17th) than everywhere else (6+5 and a due date of the 11th) - even the Flo website says due date 11th! Hmm so who knows what's up with that! Smile

Kkd85 · 21/09/2019 20:56

Hi ladies congrats on all your bfp exciting times ahead. I got my bfp last weekend I'm currently 5+3 edd is 24th may. Im booked in for an early scan at 6+4 due to having a pregnancy of unknown location back in April I'm so nervous. Seen gp on Tuesday and got my letter in yesterday for my booking appointment which I will have when I'm 8+1 thought that was quick. When I had my son in 2012 I didn't have my booking in till I was 10+3 xx

Coffeeandpixiedust · 21/09/2019 21:02

@whatnext11 when I fell pregnant with my first baby we where living in Thailand and they gave a high dose of folic acid the My U.K. doctor said some countries give higher doses and as I had taken it for so long they kept me on it until 12 weeks then dropped me down.

@27Joanna I was a heavy smoker until my 1st it was so hard giving up I kicked the habit and in February I’ll be 2 years Smoke free. It’s so hard I used to suck on a lollipop so to distract myself. My friend did it with hypnotherapy. Honestly the smoke or vape can cause so many problems. You can do it just think of your lovely healthy baby 🙌🏻

@MayaRP booking in appointment is really straight forward they take your height weight medical history family medical history (like diabetes) and previous pregnancy. The test that will happen for Down syndrome is adviced. You talk about alcohol and if you smoke you get your blood pressure taken and that’s it done takes max 45mins to the hour. You will then get an appointment to go back for a scan at 12-14weeks 😊

mintbear · 22/09/2019 07:29

@Whatnext11 My doc says that Sertraline is the best of the bunch to be taking while pregnant (and apparently for breast feeding).

As for the folic acid, I too am on 5mg due to bmi. Could you phone your gp in the uk to see what they recommend doing while you are away?

Weird Q to all- anyone else get a short sharp pain when they sneeze?

TwinklyTwinkle · 22/09/2019 07:48

@MayaRP Congratulations!!
I'm 5 weeks too, but my Flo app is also telling me 6 weeks, even though the actual Flo website only says 5! Quite confusing! The date of my last period was 17th August and some websites are saying I'm due 23rd may, and some are saying the 27th! I'm just going to wait for my booking appointment etc and get confirmation from the midwife!

@Whatnext11 I'm taking Pregnacare because it has folic acid included in it Smile

Is anyone taking Omega 3 tablets in addition to their vitamins? I don't eat fish at all and it's not listed on my Pregnacare vitamins so I think I need to take it separately..

TwinklyTwinkle · 22/09/2019 07:51

@mintbear I did get short sharp pains below constantly when I sneezed particularly during the 2 week wait..but it's stopped now thankfully!

flossy12 · 22/09/2019 07:55

@Coffeeandpixiedust where abouts do you live? I rang the midwife for my booking in appointment and it isn't until the 26th of October, by then I'll be 11 weeks 🤷🏼‍♀️ just feel it will be a bit of a squeeze to get my scan booked in in time for the downs tests ect, never been pregnant before 😅

MayaRP · 22/09/2019 08:18

@TwinklyTwinkle Exact same dates for me! Last period was 17th August. Just got to wait it out until this first appointment and in the meantime, I’m making a wee list of questions in my phone.

@everyone
It’s been lovely to find this group. People often don’t tell others their pregnant until after 12 week scan, and I can understand why, but at the same time, whether everything works out or not, this is still happening. This is still a thing, a big thing in our lives, and so whilst I might not be ready to share with everyone, I’m also excited and telling people helps with that side of it all. So being able to chat to all of you is great! I’ve told my mum and a couple of close friends. Grin

Coffeeandpixiedust · 22/09/2019 08:25

@flossy12 wrote this post 4 times but pregnancy brain has started and I keep pressing the wrong button 🙈 I’m in Liverpool last year I had my booking in appointment at 11 weeks midwife gave me this might help ease your mind. I was so anxious too. I had first scan at 13 weeks and Down syndrome test at 14 weeks then anomaly scan at 21 weeks x

So ever since my pain in my tummy on Friday I've been getting dead arms and pains in them quite frequently so I rang 111 and waiting for a CB as I'm worried about eptopic. Anyone else feel like you should get a standard scan at like 6 weeks like abroad to prevent this worry?! I feel like doctors go on about mental health all the time but with no midwife/gp support until my app at like 9 weeks it's so easy to fall into spirals of worry!

november90 · 22/09/2019 08:48

Sorry to rant there 🙈
