Wow, we’re going to have two more babies by Friday, how exciting! How are you feeling @stroan? Have you organised everything you need to?

IVEgottheDECAF · 13/08/2019 10:42

I would like my baby soon Sad

TheCraicDealer · 13/08/2019 10:50

What happens with the group when people "go"? Do you keep posting on our threads or move over to the postnatal thread? It'll be dead quiet over here by the time I (am due to) pop!

Florencenotflo · 13/08/2019 10:52

@Megan2018 my Nan has horses, she taught me to ride from when I was about 18 months - 2 years and we did a lot of lead rein classes and 'fun' shows. She's still got the Shetland I learnt to ride on (evil little thing 😂).

She has been teaching Dd more recently. Dd loves it. I think my Nan would have her doing lead rein classes if she could, but she is 80 in January and understandably hasn't got the time or energy!

Hurray for you and DH @boodles101! 🎉

I've managed to put myself in a bit of a corner. I completely forgot to tell work I have a midwife appointment (34w) tomorrow. Which means I would need to leave work mid-shift and be gone for about 3-4 hours.

Then I had a baby brain moment, and swapped a shift next week to a day I had specifically asked for off because I have an NCT class in the evening. I would need to leave work 2 hours early in this case. It's the breastfeeding session, so I really want to go to it.

Finally, I should also have another midwife appointment (36w) the following week. Which would involve the same amount of time missing from work since the appointments are booked sequentially and I can never get anything but late morning appointments. It's a one day a week clinic as well. This one won't be my fault, but I can't think they'll be kindly disposed towards me after the previous two weeks.

TL;DR: Because of some spectacular dumb on my part, I'm going to upset my work 3 Wednesdays on the trot.

Sorry for the vent. Hoping someone is going to swap next week's shift, then I can re-book tomorrow's midwife appointment to that day instead. Either that or just completely miss the 34 week appointment.

Megan2018 · 13/08/2019 10:58

@Florencenotflo that's so cool! I loved horses as soon as I could talk but we didn't have any in the family so I had to wait until I was 7 for lessons and then begged rides until I could get my own as an adult.
It'll be sods law that this little one isn't interested - but where I keep my ageing cob there is a LR pony ready to go and a pony foal born recently that will be cracking in about 5 years, so if she likes it there is plenty for her to ride. I'd love to be able to go out riding with my own daughter.

Stroan · 13/08/2019 11:04

@thecraicdealer I'll be hanging around waiting for all the baby news!

Moraxella · 13/08/2019 11:05

dyra: feel your pain, that is something i would do. phone MW clinic and see if any cancellations you can take at beginning or end of day? Assume you're NHS too.. or my plan would be miss 34/40, and prioritise NCT and 36/40 as its the birth plan one? They may contact you to rearrange the 34 week one if you miss it, meanwhile you could do your BP and urine dipstick at work secretly and check ok... (not that I am advising that, I am just saying I have resulted to that in the past..!)

IVEgottheDECAF · 13/08/2019 11:13

craic you normally end up with an antenatal and postnatal thread running at same time time for a while, but often everyone ends up using fb more

Puglover88 · 13/08/2019 11:37

@TheCraicDealer I’ll still be here! Not due until the 22nd!

BBell2 · 13/08/2019 12:34

@boodles101 yessssss! I'm pleased for you what shit timing!

@thecraigdealer I'll be with you at the end (due 26th and DD went over) in my Aug group I was due mid month and only a handful made it to 18th/19th/20th one into Sept. Much smaller group but it was painfull at the end! Most of us just did Facebook postnatal.

My DH wants to teach DD to ski, insanely expensive!! I'm sure she would just learn o a week away but he wants to commit every Sunday for 14 weeks, when he works shifts....so commiting us!

Puglover88 · 13/08/2019 12:54

@BBell2 I’d love our daughter to learn to ski when she’s old enough as we love our ski holidays but you’re right, it is super expensive!

Puglover88 · 13/08/2019 12:55

My mum got us this little elephant for the baby - anyone else think it has an evil look to its eyes! 😂

challengeyourreality · 13/08/2019 13:02

@BBell2 DH is a fantastic skier and can teach, he is desperate to get the kids on the slopes. It can get expensive but the Czech Republic is still relatively cheap for a ski holiday with lessons

Horehound · 13/08/2019 13:05

@Puglover88 it does look evil! It looks like a gangster elephant!!

Dyra · 13/08/2019 13:07

@TheCraicDealer I'm sure I'll be sticking it out until the very end of the month/into Oct as well.

@Moraxella Thanks. 😄 TBH (once I thought it through) I came to the exact same conclusion. I can do BP and urine dip at work. And I'm surrounded by midwives/obstetricians as well if I really want bump and FHB measured. So I've cancelled tomorrow's appointment. I think going off a couple hours early for NCT won't bother too many people next week.

I'll definitely be signing up LO for swimming lessons when old enough. Vital skill to have. Beyond that I just don't know. DH and I have never been social, activity doing people. So apart from reading (I really hope they like books....) I think we'll just have to see what LO likes that we can reasonably afford.

Florencenotflo · 13/08/2019 13:08

@Puglover88 I do see what you mean! 😂

Although my parents bought Dd this bear before she was born. Her nursery was literally 12ft long by about 4ft wide. This bloody bear took up a whole corner we could have use for some kind of storage 😂 we've still got it now but thankfully we've moved and dd has a bigger room!

Dyra · 13/08/2019 13:09

@Puglover I did not know it was possible to make a cuddly elephant look sinister......

Puglover88 · 13/08/2019 15:11

Yes it totally is like a little gangster elephant! @Florencenotflo geez that’s huge! I hope nobody gives us anything that big!

stormtrooperjulian · 13/08/2019 15:49

@Moraxella I had Botox every 5ish months before getting pregnant. I had a line developing between my eyebrows that I hated so I got rid of it, and I also had the top of my forehead done, but only high up so my skin was smooth but I could still move my eyebrows. I saw a doctor to get it done rather than going for a cheaper option and spent about £250 each time. Obviously I stopped when I got pregnant but so far the eyebrow line hasn't returned, I think the Botox got me out of the habit of frowning when I concentrate.

I have a spider vein on my forehead now that has developed during pregnancy, I'll definitely be getting that removed once baby comes!

I want the baby to learn to swim ASAP, I've always loved the water and done a lot of water sports so I want the baby to enjoy all that too, and I consider it a really important life skill.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 13/08/2019 15:57

Might be another early baby to add to the list - just spoke to the midwife and my ALT and AST liver test results have come back as abnormal so I'm due to go into hospital first thing for monitoring, more tests and to see the consultant. They would have sent me up today but I'm 90 mins away in central London Confused

Hsunshine · 13/08/2019 16:43

I’ve decided I think I want a ‘welcome home baby shower/party’ Just with a couple of friends
How many weeks after baby is born do you think is good to do something like that?

boodles101 · 13/08/2019 16:49

Oooo bridgetjonesdaquiri hopefully all is ok, do you have any itching or anything?

kyles101 · 13/08/2019 16:52

@TheCraicDealer I'll deffo pop back and see you all - leave no man behind and all that!

I'm winning mat leave today - lay in til 9, hour long bath, 4 hour lunch with an old friend, now just debating whether to start my Keto cake or snooze... think the quick snooze is going to win out as dh not home til 7ish tonight... yep, snooze it is 💤

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 13/08/2019 17:08

@boodles101 yes I've been itchy on and off since last Thursday evening. I don't know if that means it's possibly obstetric cholestasis, but in my last pregnancy my liver enzymes went crazy as well (but can't remember any itchiness then).

Feeling really unprepared - still at work, not had any mat leave yet, nothing is organised for baby, no small baby clothes if she has to come earlyConfused Need to get my arse in gear tonight, wash some clothes, finish packing my hospital bag etc.

Also if they do need to deliver her early - not sure whether to opt for induction or push for elective c-section. Had pretty traumatic induction last time round and not sure I want to repeat it. Had hoped for spontaneous calm labour in maternity unit this time round but alas seems unlikely.
