@Horehound don’t panic if it does, the person in my nct was contracting on and off for a good few days but her actual active labour was short and she only had 20 mins pushing. So whilst she had an uncomfortable few days build up the hard bit was mercifully short! You may be equally lucky Smile.

happydays00 · 18/08/2019 15:18

@Horehound and @coffeeandgin26 how exciting!!! I hope you both have your babies soon!!!

I'm home, it was horrible coming home without the baby - just felt so wrong to leave him. Not helped by the fact that my milk has properly come in today so I am an emotional wreck. I was crying in the lift on the way out like a crazy person. The doctors have said the baby is now going in the right direction so hopefully in a couple of days might even be breathing without extra support!

challengeyourreality · 18/08/2019 15:19

Very exciting all these babies! Best wishes for your labour @Horehound and @coffeeandgin26

36+4 here and not quite ready yet - don't think baby is either as not had many signs lately. Due September 11 and expect her to be born on her due date as my other 2 have been

challengeyourreality · 18/08/2019 15:21

@happydays00 sorry that is happening to you but he will be getting the best care, I'm sure. And before you know it he'll be home

Karigan195 · 18/08/2019 15:28

Oh happydays I so hope that you get your baby with you happy and healthy soon. Our short NICU trip was the worst 36hrs ever. I really feel for you

Horehound · 18/08/2019 15:40

@kyles101 I think the TENS is worth having tbh. I'm taking it as a distraction from the actual contraction pain, it's quite good pushing the boost button when you have an actual contraction.
The rest of the time where it just pulses...meh not sure it does anything really except gives you something rhythmic to feel. I got mine on eBay as a refurbed hospital one and paid 15 quid for it so happy enough with that.

@Tefiti2 yep my first! So it's all a bit daunting!

Actually seems like husband was not prepared and most of the morning he sat in living room whilst I'm having contractions upstairs. I think he doesn't know what to do with himself. About 20 mins ago he said "so do you think you're in Labour?" I laughed. He's now off to shop to get snacks and stuff. If this carries on I guess he should go into work tomorrow.

@megan2018 Ohh that would be good. Hopefully I'm lucky then!

@happydays00 oh that's so sad, really feel for you. But it's great he is progressing well and I'm sure you'll get your bundle home soon. Are you going to express your milk?

RonaldWeasley · 18/08/2019 16:20

Oooh lots kicking off today, good luck to all those with new babies and those on their way!

Lol I'm 34+4 too @Dyra. Just hoping mine's here before too much of October has disappeared. He did drop in the last couple of days though I think!

Fortheloveofscience · 18/08/2019 16:21

happydays I’m so pleased he’s moving in the right direction, hard as it is to come home without him.

Can I have a moan? I’ve been consistently doing too much over the last few weeks, 35+3 today. But we have an absolute ton of stuff to do in the house, and not stuff that can be left until after the baby’s here because we’ve got workmen coming in next week. DH keeps saying I need to rest more, but he’ll never take the initiative unless I start so if I do less he does less too and we end up in a bigger mess. Today we really need to get furniture moved around in the nursery so that once everything’s in place we can fill it with boxes from the rooms being worked on. He’s just left for the gym telling me to rest, but I can’t just sit down and rest when the house is filthy with shit everywhere and we’ve still got so much to do today. Just means that he’ll have a nice 90 min gym trip while I do chores, and it’ll be another stressful evening/late night and I just want to cry/yell at him that he needs to take the initiative, sacrifice his gym time and get shit done rather than expect it to magically do itself.

Puglover88 · 18/08/2019 17:05

@Horehound and @coffeeandgin26 very exciting, hope you’re both having cuddles with your babies very soon!

@happydays00 that must be so hard! Fingers crossed it’s not a long stay in the hospital for him. Can you go in whenever you want to see him?

@Fortheloveofscience my OH is the same! He goes to the gym 3 times a week, meets his friend every Wednesday for an evening kayak session and is always having marathon baths because he has a dodgy shoulder/back due to all the exercising he does. Meanwhile I’m trying to get all the shit in the house sorted! 🤨

DustyDoorframes · 18/08/2019 17:07

@Horehound keeping chilled and seeing how it progresses sounds good- I wouldn't send your DH to work tomorrow though. If you keep these contractions up you will be totally knackered by then and need the support! Hopefully things will speed up shortly in any case!

@happydays00 That must be so so hard!!!! I can't even imagine. I take it that means you are doing ok after your op though? And v good that things are improving gently for Max.

@coffeeandgin26 Woot! Hope everything is nipping along nicely!

Well there better had be a few of us left in Sept- I'm not due til the very end of the month! I don't want to be left in solitary splendour!

Thinking of you @Stroan , hope you are all settling in ok.

Yay you are home @Karigan195 !!!! That must be such a brilliant feeling!

Puglover88 · 18/08/2019 17:07

@Exitstrategist that article is spot on!

DustyDoorframes · 18/08/2019 17:12

Oops forgot to say @Fortheloveofscience (and @Puglover88 ) you need to have it out with him when he gets back from the gym. It'll only get worse once the baby is here. Sadly.

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/08/2019 17:21

Current annoyance here is dp just leaving his shit all over the house. Clothes, work stuff, cups, tissues. Tramp.

Puglover88 · 18/08/2019 17:24

Ugh there’s nothing worse than used tissues being left on the side! Can’t bear to touch them!

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/08/2019 17:27

Obviously men think it is a massive turn on for us to dispose of the content of their fucking noses

boodles101 · 18/08/2019 18:02

karigan I can't believe they have sent you home without him. I hope he recovers quickly and you can have him back with you! That first milk day is horrible in my experience, can't imagine not having baby there with all those emotions!

kyles101 · 18/08/2019 20:01

@Fortheloveofscience gah men are annoying. Could you sit him down and ask him all the jobs he thinks need doing before baby arrives (you may need to guide him) then ask him what he thinks that means the date they have to be done by is. Explain if due date you probs want to knock a couple of just in case weeks off that. Then ask him what his plan is to achieve all of the stuff they needs doing in that timeframe? Maybe it seems overwhelming so he massively procrastinating?

@happydays00 I can't even imagine how hard that must be, even if he is in the best possible place.

I explained once to dh that making me feel like I was his mother wasn't particularly sexy and the amount of sexy time was directly related to how manchild like he was being, it kind of worked for a while 🙄

Huuuge batch of chilli made tonight and we have the car seat in the car, Moses basket set up, still to do the next to me crib but we're getting there at least. Dh has some misdirected nesting at the garden hedges too! Bless!

Stroan · 18/08/2019 20:03

@happydays00 I'm so sorry that Max is still in hospital while you are home, keeping everything crossed that you have him home with you very soon. He sounds like he is fighting hard to get there too.

@karigan195 congratulations! Sorry to hear your section was delayed and you also had a NICU stay, be kind to yourself, that must be hard to process even once everything is fine.

@horehound @coffeeandgin26 exciting! It's all going on this weekend! Good luck

Jennylou88 · 18/08/2019 20:11

Ahhhhh babies are arriving! 😬😬 this so exciting! I'm only 35+4 and not due until the 18/09. I have noticed a lot of pressure & some shooting pain low down in my pelvis over the last few days though, has everyone else got this? Xx

Stroan · 18/08/2019 20:19

Sorry for going a bit AWOL there, no mobile signal or working WiFi in the hospital. I could almost send a text if I leaned out of bed...

Our gorgeous little Ruairi was born by ELCS on Friday at 2.27pm, weighing 8lbs 6.5oz. Not as huge as I was expecting but not teeny either.

The section itself was wonderful, I know that's a weird way to describe a serious operation but it was very healing after DDs birth. So calm and relaxed, the team were all lovely.

However, my pregnancy stayed dramatic to the very end. When stitching me up they found a 6cm ovarian cyst. They brought in two specialists and we made the decision to remove it, with the risk of the spinal wearing off before they finished. It was all fine, but I was also having hypos on the operating table just to add to the drama!

We got home this afternoon, I'm looking forward to having a full one hour block of sleep after a shared ward for two days! Ru is chilled out, content and feeding. Big sister has been emotional about being away from me (she was sick yesterday and couldn't see us) but is absolutely over the moon.

boodles101 · 18/08/2019 20:20

Sorry I tagged karigan earlier when I meant happydays already can't keep up with the babies!

boodles101 · 18/08/2019 20:24

Ah lovely update stroan love the name Ruairi and that you have called him Ru too. Really glad to hear your section went well, I'm hoping for a similar outcome, although crappy about the cyst! Let's hope that's the end of all your symptoms and hypos. Enjoy your newborn snuggles.

DustyDoorframes · 18/08/2019 20:43

Oh @Stroan it would just have been too easy if you'd been stitched up with no dramas!! So so glad it managed to be a lovely experience nonetheless, and that your gorgeous boy is well- that's a brilliant weight! Now the fun bit...

Stroan · 18/08/2019 20:51

@dustydoorframes honestly, I just find it all highly amusing now (just a standard hormonal cyst, nothing to worry about). But, of course it had to happen.

I'm calling it my BOGOF operation!

Hope you are ok? Did I see something about GD?

@boodles101 really, it was all so calm and lovely. Day 1 was rough. Take ALL the meds, they can give you liquid morphine hourly. But day 2 is already so much better.
