Getting cuddles this morning and he’s off the air so all looking a lot better. He’s having anti biotics and blood sugars being tested but everything is improving so far.

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/08/2019 14:03

Great news karigan! He looks very content there!

I am on one cleaning wise again! Just deep cleaned the main bathroom. Third wash is on. About to start my bedroom but just having a little rest first.

Florencenotflo · 17/08/2019 14:06

Lovely news @Karigan195 x

@Karigan195 ah look at his little hand! 😍 glad he’s looking better and I bet you’re enjoying those cuddles! xx

DustyDoorframes · 17/08/2019 14:44

Oh @Karigan195 he's so perfect and tiny!!!! What a gorgeous bundle!! And v good to hear he's doing well. How are you after you op??

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 17/08/2019 14:54

Oh bless him @Karigan195! Good to hear he's doing well. Hope you're recovering quickly too x

@Stroan hope you're all doing well as well x

BBell2 · 17/08/2019 15:41

@kyles101 we had similar yesterday, DH completely went off on one about the health visitor (who he never met despite me seeing her for 3yrs with DD) telling me that's what his family's opinions are for apparently. Even the mental health perinatal team should now out to his mothers opinion despite both of us having problems last time.

@stroan congratulations! I thought I had said it on Facebook but realise I was confused. Loving seeing these little one

boodles101 · 17/08/2019 16:01

Awww lovely karigan glad he's doing much better today. Assume that's not your hairy chest. 😆

Karigan195 · 17/08/2019 16:30

@boodles101 lol no not my hairy chest 😂😂. His dad seems rather pleased with him ❤️

happydays00 · 17/08/2019 18:43

@Karigan195 congratulations!!! Such good news he is off the air etc now. Do you have a name? Have I missed it?

@Stroan congrats to you too! How are you doing? Have you updated more and I've missed it? I'm not on FB and already getting FOMO.

@IVEgottheDECAF - some serious nesting going on over there. Are you feeling like labour is imminent?! What sort of pre labour signs do you get before labour usually?

@boodles101 - the itching is the last thing you need for your last couple of days pre twins! I hope it eases!!

We have finally decided on a name for Baby Happy - he is going to be Max (middle name still TBC). Sadly, he's not doing any better even though the excess fluid on his lungs has evaporated. They've had to administer some more medicine to help and he's on an oxygen tube again but I've been promised skin to skin tonight so trying to remain positive. I had a meltdown in the middle of the NICU earlier because I thought they were putting him on a ventilator as I had spotted the metal instrument they use to intubate people and my medical knowledge (from Grey's Anatomy) clearly our 2+2 together and made 10!!!!

kyles101 · 17/08/2019 19:26

Ah @Puglover88 it's completely understandable to have a little meltdown now and again, especially after a loss. Don't be too hard on yourself, and it's great that the unit are being so understanding.

@Moraxella yep with the hormones today 🙄

Such fantastic news @Karigan195 I must say you have a lovely hairy chest there 😉

I don't think my dh wanted me to take his family's opinions over anyone else's necessary @BBell2 he just wanted me to ask them rather than him, to be fair, I think he would have rather I sought advice from the homeless guy in the street than him at that moment in time 🤷‍♀️ he has however thought about it, and said we need to research everything before the next appointment and then we can go to that and he will help me make a decision and ask any questions that I might not think of asking - hallelujah - I'm so pleased he came up with a sensible solution which was of course nothing like what I was asking for in the first place 🙄 oh well, we got there in the end and had a lovely afternoon mooching around the shops and had a lovely dinner together so all's well that ends well. Are you and yours back on good terms now too?

Yay for skin to skin @happydays00 it must feel so frustrating for you right now but it's all for the best for little max, it doesn't take away the worry and stress right now though I know. Are the meds for his lungs again I assume?

In other news, I had a LOT of whitish coloured discharge in my pants today, and baby definitely feels like it's working it's way down. Had something like a contraction I think too, i had to stop and catch my breath.

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/08/2019 19:27

happydays unfortunately labour feels miles away! Keep getting period type pains but never amount to anything. I had similar in the days/weeks before having dc1, 2 and 4 but this has been going on for about 3 weeks already! May have lost a bit of plug the other day which is a first.
Sorry to read your little one is still a bit unwell. Atleast he is in a safe place and i do hope you get your skin to skin!

DustyDoorframes · 17/08/2019 19:29

@happydays00 that's a great name! Sorry to hear you are still in NICU- meltdowns totally allowed (and probably expected by the staff...) yay for skin to skin this evening!! Hopefully not too long more til you are on track to get home.

happydays00 · 17/08/2019 20:02

@kyles101 happy to read you've made up with your DH. Sometimes they really are on a different planet! Exciting to hear you might be getting a bit closer to meeting baby too after your contraction and some discharge!

Yes, the medicine is for his lungs. It's a product our bodies produce naturally (I think it's called surfactant) but he is obviously deficient in it.

@IVEgottheDECAF oh disappointing!!! I was hoping nesting was going to signal imminent arrival.

@DustyDoorframes - how are you getting on?! The staff at the NICU are all absolutely lovely but I did still feel ridiculous as there are babies in there who are far sicker than mine. Max is next to a 24 weeker 😢

DustyDoorframes · 17/08/2019 20:18

@happydays00 Gosh, 24 weeks! That puts things into perspective. But you are still totally entitled to your feelings (and remember you are currently on the post birth rollercoaster of hormones, baby blues might be expected to kick in now or very shortly), even if you lovely Max looks like a bruiser next to the tinier ones. It's ok to find it hard going because it IS.
Surfactants sounds promising- does that mean they don't think there's an infection? Fingers very crossed.

I'm fine, stomping about grumbling because it looks pretty certain I've got GD, but at least I feel like I know what to do about that with all the excellent company on the thread. Getting off my bottom and doing some exercise would help... still 7 weeks to go, ish.

@Stroan I hope you have been enjoying your pineapple upside down cake and are getting lots of newborn snuggles, and that your DD is doing ok with it all!

Horehound · 18/08/2019 08:10

I'm a bit confused. I've been having Braxton hicks last few days, occasionally waking me up in the night. Today i woke at 5am with them (or what I thought were BH) but it's still going on and I've actually started a contraction timer with them ranging between 8mins and 5 mins, it does feel like a wave and they are quite painful.
But I've had no show, no waters etc. I'm just not sure if this is it or not.. 38+4

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/08/2019 08:17

Horehound in my four previous pregnancies i have never had a show or waters break before i was well on my way.

Dc4 i arrived at hospital 7cm with waters intact and having had no show

What is the pain like? If you change positions does the pain stop?

Megan2018 · 18/08/2019 08:24

@Horehound
Lady in our NCT started like that, had contractions on and off for a couple of days then it got going properly. You can always check in with midwife for advice?
Waters don’t always go and neither does everyone get a show, so you never know! Keep us posted Smile

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/08/2019 08:27

Got a long walk to do today. Be nice if that triggered something here but i very much doubt it!

kyles101 · 18/08/2019 08:32

@Horehound that sounds like it could be the start of something exciting!!!

Puglover88 · 18/08/2019 08:41

@Horehound that does sound like it could be the start of something! Maybe give your midwife/labour unit a call and see what they say x

DustyDoorframes · 18/08/2019 09:04

@Horehound I've never had a show and my waters have never broken by themselves (DC2 was born in hers!). So it could be it... or not. Fingers crossed it is if they are sore!!!

Karigan195 · 18/08/2019 09:07

Horehound, that’s what happened to me Wednesday. What I thought was Braxton hicks just got stronger and reqular. Had a show only at hospital after they told me to come in.

boodles101 · 18/08/2019 09:21

Exciting horehound try and get some rest this morning incase it is the real thing.

IVEgottheDECAF · 18/08/2019 09:23

Arghhhhhhh i want some signs. Something happen. I am fed up. Sad
