kyles101 · 16/08/2019 22:08

@DustyDoorframes was that reading within one hour? I think that would probs be classed as a gd reading, but only just, especially if carb heavy. Are you having the test or just have to stab and monitor? If it's any consolation at 37 weeks I can deffo tolerate more carbs now - weeks 35-36 were hell weeks though!!

Mines been head down for weeks too, but I have no clue as to whether engaged, so I guess not? Also judging by the kicks I'm getting I think we're back to back.... so does that mean no to engaged too?

Congratulations @Stroan !! Piccies soon please! Hope you're having the best snuggles!

IVEgottheDECAF · 16/08/2019 22:14

kyles are you having a section? If not and you think baby is back to back i would try and turn him/her! B2B labour is grim!

Your mw should be feeling for position of baby and saying / putting in your notes about engaging etc

DustyDoorframes · 16/08/2019 22:17

@kyles101 stab and monitor til Tuesday, apparently at this stage they do that rather than the GTT to diagnose. It was exactly one hour after, and yes very carby, so hopefully not too awful then. Apparently they are looking for anything over 7, and over 10 I'm meant to turn up to labour ward to be re-educated medicated. I'll be well pissed off if I escape hypertension but get GD this time around!

DustyDoorframes · 16/08/2019 22:19

Oooh yes- and they can be back to back and engaged, but get thee to the spinning babies website and try to shift that back as its much sorer! (Lots of leaning forward, four point kneeling etc, not much lovely reclining...)

boodles101 · 16/08/2019 22:22

Congrats stroan looking forward to the update

Karigan195 · 16/08/2019 22:38

Our little blessing was born at 15.55 today by c section. 3.3kg. Terrified us by stopping breathing and for a while with loads of paediatric staff gathered round him with respirators and stethoscopes we thought we had lost him. DP and I have both been in floods of tears and emotionally overwhelmed.

He’s still in NICU but is now a healthy pink and gasses are looking good. I may get a cuddle tomorrow if he keeps well overnight!

Horehound · 16/08/2019 22:40

Bloody hell @karigan195 what a relief. Congratulations!!!!

kyles101 · 16/08/2019 23:14

Nope, hopefully not @IVEgottheDECAF - to be honest my midwife sort of dumped me when I went over to consultant care for GD and because the appointments for that have been 3/4 weeks my appointments are out of sync... I'll be 38 + 4 before I see anyone again... I'm at the diabetes clinic on Monday - should I ask to see one of the midwives then? No one has said anything at all yet about positions etc. Should I be panicking?

God @DustyDoorframes I thought mine was strict - up to 7.8 1 hour is allowable. I'd just try to stick as low carb as you can tolerate, if you have carbs make sure you have good fats to slow down the sugar - nuts and seeds, full fat yogurt or any full fat dairy actually, avocados, mayo! Full fat dressings. I don't think I've ever got a 10, even in the midst of the hardest to control part and having a naughty anniversary weekend so hopefully you should be fine. How far along are you? Gah, bubs and I love a recline - he/she gets all kicky if I lounge! But will have a look at the site as have heard back to back horror stories! Just assumed I was too early to be thinking much about it - whoops!!

Fingers crossed for snuggles tomorrow @Karigan195 Try and get some rest tonight whilst you can!!

DustyDoorframes · 16/08/2019 23:25

Oh @Karigan195 that sounds utterly terrifying!! Huge congratulations - and fingers very tightly crossed that he'll be in your arms before you know it.

@kyles101 the strictness is probably because this is diagnostic- I'm meant to eat normally and then they'll decide what to do on Tuesday. Which is probably keep monitoring and sort out my diet, at this rate!! I'm irked as actually my diet is normally pretty good, so hopefully it won't be too stressful to keep things under control. I do want to make sure some more carby days are in my test period though so I don't skew it (those are usually my work days when I sit eating biscuits all day...).

@happydays00 I hope you've had some lovely cuddles today, and those little lungs are doing super well!

Florencenotflo · 16/08/2019 23:29

Congratulations @Karigan195! Fingers crossed for some lovely newborn snuggles in the morning.

DustyDoorframes · 16/08/2019 23:30

Oops, posted too soon- @kyles101 no call for panic re position, don't worry! Back to back is a (literal) pain but not an emergency, and they often twirl round at the very last minute once there is more room in your pelvis in labour. If you are worried/curious do ask a midwife to have a prod next week, but I wouldn't worry!
And I'm 33+4. I'm a straggler...

Puglover88 · 16/08/2019 23:37

@Karigan195 congratulations to you and your DP. I’m sure your little one will be right as rain in no time (the same thing happened with my sister’s first born and he’s a strapping 14 year old now!) try and get some rest and hopefully you’ll get cuddles tomorrow xx

Horehound · 17/08/2019 05:32

Hmm I had a sore/achey back last night and through the night alternated by being woken with menstrual type pain or back pain.
No show though so I'm confused!

iano · 17/08/2019 06:19

Many congratulations @Stroan and @Karigan195!!
Im sorry you had such a scary experience @Karigan195.hope you've had a cuddle now.

IVEgottheDECAF · 17/08/2019 07:14

Kyles if i thought this baby was B2B i would perhaps take a look on spinning babies website, there are little things you can do to encourage them to turn e.g. how you sit. When i had dc4 and he was B2B the front of my bump was extremely flat. I didnt find out that was because he was B2B until i was well on my way in labour.

Karigan huge congratulations! Flowers

Hope all new babies had a good night Grin

Horehound i keep getting points with lots of back ache and period pains but amounts to nothing! Been having this the past couple of weeks now!

I still havent washed my moses basket Blush or finished my hospital bag Blush

37+2 today

Dyra · 17/08/2019 07:57

Congratulations @Stroan and @Karigan195!

How scary for you Karigan. Hope baby Kari's stay in NICU is short and you get lots and lots of newborn snuggles very soon.
