Ahhh theres a BABY! Congratulations @happydays00, hope you are feeling ok and your baby is with you in no time. What a little sweetie.

db92 · 15/08/2019 21:33

Ah he's so lovely @happydays00 congratulations.

Hope things progress for you soon @Karigan195

BBell2 · 15/08/2019 21:35

Funny conversation with my boss and bosses boss:
"You go end of September"
"No, babies due end September I leave in 4 weeks"
"Oh so it would be good if you could have 2wks handover"
"Yes, is it still the guy from India? Did you ask him yet?"
"Ummmm no."
Lots of nervous laughter and me muttering about babies not coming to a schedule!

Actually 16 more working days! Grin

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 15/08/2019 21:48

What a little cutie pie @happydays00! 💙👶🏼 Hope you're recovering well now x

kyles101 · 15/08/2019 21:53

Ow @happydays00 he's absolutely beautiful!! Well done mummy!!

Hope you're all enjoying the night at home @Stroan and good luck for tomorrow for you and @Karigan195

@BBell2 bah that's hilarious!! My "cover" made it until yesterday before having to email for help 🙄

@Horehound Yeah i thought it was that. Is it feasible to drop dh off a couple of times per week so you can keep the car? It's probs worse if you still feel ok to be out and about, at least if you just wanted to be curled up with a box set you'd be getting what you want. I can function on one day at home one out so I feel for you. Will be so much better once you have company - first dog shaped then baby shaped!!

BBell2 · 15/08/2019 22:08

@kyles101 see you are indispensable...but hope its doesn't become a regular thing for you!

Babies arriving, ladies waiting, mat leaves starting....its so real today!

IVEgottheDECAF · 15/08/2019 22:11

Karigan i got the fox sleepsuits too! Very cute!

No more signs of anything plug like. Boring!

TheCraicDealer · 15/08/2019 22:14

Beautiful boy @happydays00! Hope you're reunited soon! X

Puglover88 · 15/08/2019 23:07

Aah @happydays00 he’s absolutely gorgeous!! Hope you’re feeling less groggy now x

Karigan195 · 16/08/2019 01:41

So now 1am. Steroid they have given to help baby’s lungs has spiked the blood sugars (they did say it nearly always does and to just eat what I like but foolishly didn’t) so now on 1 hourly blood sugar tests and any over ten I get a drip.

On a drip now and they tell me to rest 😂😂

Horehound · 16/08/2019 05:50

@kyles101 ooft I could take him but would mean an early star for me! Although here I am at 5.45 wide awake hehe I do like watching Netflix but after day 4 I was getting cabin fever. Mum says she'll visit most days next week and we have an afternoon in Edinburgh planned so that'll be good. Deffo looking forward to some furry snuggles though :D

@karigan195 how you doing now? I'm really surprised about getting steroids to help babies lungs..I thought by 38 weeks the lungs were officially cooked!

Karigan195 · 16/08/2019 06:26

I thought the same. But apparently not

Stroan · 16/08/2019 06:33

It's to do with the type of delivery. Being squeezed out of the birth canal prepares their lungs and pushes lots of gunk out. Being yanked out by C-section doesn't! Every NHS area has different policies too so it's confusing.

So resting with one hourly finger jabs and contractions? Sounds really possible.

Good luck for 9am if nothing else has kicked off first.

Just been up for a cooked breakfast (thanks Mum!) before fasting. Trying to get back to sleep but it's not working so far.

Karigan195 · 16/08/2019 06:43

Oh it’s been horrible. 1hourly finger jabs, contractions, a pill at midnight then 6, iv drip since 1, which moved around 3 leading fluid spilling into the arm making it swell up and tingle, cue wait for new iv (at which point I took the opportunity to shower whilst not attached to anything) then steroid at 5.30 again and pill again just now.

Sleep - what is this thing they speak of!

Never having sex again and would pay for a private room once delivered so at least I’d only have to cope with one crying baby is how I feel right now!

Stroan · 16/08/2019 06:46

Are you on a ward? Fingers crossed you get s private room afterwards. Sounds absolutely awful.

How do you feel about the section?

IVEgottheDECAF · 16/08/2019 06:47

Bless you Karigan! I promise once that baby is in your arms none of this will matter anymore Flowers

Stroan i would kill for a cooked breakfast right now! I just had a biscuit!

Horehound · 16/08/2019 06:57

@Karigan195 I noticed you posting at 4am or something on another thread and did wonder if you'd managed any sleep! Poor you. Not long now though hehe

Interesting about the c section/lung thing. Didn't know that.

@stroan I'm so sorry I'm all tired and confused. Are you also having c section today?

Karigan195 · 16/08/2019 07:02

Yeah surfing mumsnet reminding myself that people are worse off than me has been my saviour during the gaps. Think that might have been when my arm was swollen and waiting for the dr.

kyles101 · 16/08/2019 07:12

What a night of it you've had @Karigan195 can't believe you missed the eat what you like advice - I'd have been alllll over those carbs!! Not long now!!

I was wide awake and annoying dh at 1am this morning for 2 hours so I set myself a 6am alarm in the hope of properly tiring myself out today. Have the health visitor coming at 9:30 then planning on a batch cooking marathon - lasagnes, chilli and oat and raisin cookies. Oh, best do those bathrooms too, and some ironing!

boodles101 · 16/08/2019 07:18

Good luck today stroan I bet you can't wait for all of this to be over and have your baby in arms. Looking forward to today's updates.

Dyra · 16/08/2019 07:22

Poor you @Karigan195. At least you can be all over the carbs later today, and with a beautiful baby too.

Good luck to both you and Stroan for later on.

What a handsome chappie you have there @happydays00.

More babies! Yay!

Horehound · 16/08/2019 07:22

Oat and rain cookies....fuck yeh send some my way!

Sounds like a lot @kyles101 dont overdo it!

I've got to do an online shop...first one in years but we want to try cause we think it will save a chore for us. Just reorder the same stuff each week and amend as required.
I have cleaned all the bathrooms in the house, all baby stuff is washed now. I need to finished the deep hoovering because our Hoover seems to miss the edges of the room so I need to go round it with the stick attachment. Then I'll sweep and wash kitchen floor and then hopefully little dogosaur will be here so it'll be playtime! Hehe

Horehound · 16/08/2019 07:23

Ok others have confirmed you are in for a big day @stroan so wishing you well. So exciting!!

Karigan195 · 16/08/2019 07:24

Good luck Stroan :)

DustyDoorframes · 16/08/2019 07:34

Aw @Karigan195 sorry to hear about the crummy night! Not long to go now in any case, phew. Would have been nice not to have had days of pain first though!!!
@Stroan cooked breakfast and back to bed for the win! We are all going to be clock watching for your section today...
@BridgetJonesDaiquiri how did you get on in DAU yesterday? Fingers crossed you got some sense out of someone.
@kyles101 not shocked re your dweeb cover... that said, keeping reminding them how brilliant you are over your leave is probably quite useful...
@BBell2 facepalm re your cover. Poor oblivious bloke in India who is being expected to move continents with no warning!!!!
BP and scan later for me. Glad I'm seeing them, I've been really dizzy and woozy.
