@ivegotthedecaf I guess they are just doing their job but it feels like I was awake until about 4 so not ready to be up at 6.

On the CTG for monitoring now, sleepy baby so could be here a while.

BimbleBamble · 14/08/2019 08:06

@challengeyourreality, oh my goodness, I've just done a quick Google of the aftercare in Holland. These kraamverzorgster people sound like heaven!! Not experienced a birth in the UK (yet) but think it's mostly just a wave and a 'good luck' post birth here and fend for yourselves! I'm not a massive fan of someone else being in the house, but having someone clean and cook as standard for a week...I could cope with that, having a home birth so potential for messy carnage here! Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/08/2019 08:06

Maybe she was getting you ready for frequent wakings by baby stroan!

DD is on one. She wants to lie with me and cuddle but "Your belly keeps kicking me!" She is genuinely cross and not getting i cant do anything about it!

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/08/2019 08:09

I hate people in my house. I wouldnt like it. It would piss me off. I was told the other day unofficially that i should be having a home birth as baby is just going to fly out! Better not do. I want to be in the hospital with the drugs and the bloody should i need it!

Stroan · 14/08/2019 08:18

I'd have to tidy for the people coming to clean in my house. Which defeats the purpose.

The only person I can handle being around (for a little while!) when I'm incapacitated is my Mum because she just gets on with things but also gives us space. She arrives on Thursday - I've left my unfinished cleaning list out in the kitchen Grin

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/08/2019 08:25

Yes stroan that is just like me!

TheCraicDealer · 14/08/2019 08:36

Sorry to hear there's so many struggling with sleep. Not an area I have any issues with tbh (I'll swap you for the haemorrhoids), but I'm in the spare room atm and it's heaven. So much space! No snoring! No hearing complaining about "that fucking pregnancy pillow" Grin

Downside is that I still have another five weeks of work and I'm just so over it now- getting very tired. Right now I'm sitting in my car at the car park in the pissing rain trying to will myself to get out and walk to the office.

Glad to hear so many of you are going to stick around! Can't wait to hear all the announcements for those going soon. All getting very real now isn't it!

Megan2018 · 14/08/2019 09:31

I couldn't deal with having someone in my house - I am an unsociable old cow!
We are fortunate to have a cleaner though, 3 hrs a week (I'll go out when she is here) so the bare essentials get done. We can't afford her on mat leave but we are determined to keep her on even if it means giving up something else. She is a lovely woman, not the best cleaner we have ever had but she is completely reliable and trustworthy - loves the animals and will do animal care if we are away, she is also only £10ph so it works for us. We had an amazing cleaner before that, she was £13ph but gave up - she made everything sparkle. But the current one does a far better job than we would ever do so having the house hoovered, floors mopped, dusted, kitchen and bathroom done to an ok standard weekly really take the pressure off.

I slept better last night but still feel crap today, was awake at 5. Just got to hang in there this week, the end is in sight! Got my TENS machine I've hired so need to try that out.

Just nursing bras to get next week and we also haven't decided on a baby monitor but I figure that doesn't have to be with us on Day 1 as she is not going to be out of our sight and we aren't likely to be getting any sleep! So we can Amazon it as soon as we have decided. DH wants some all singing, all dancing smart thing that integrates with all the devices - I want something easy that doesn't require my phone so there is a stand off.

Karigan195 · 14/08/2019 09:47

Well I slept horribly last night. Got woken by contractions at 4am. Monitored for an hour but pretty regular approx 5 mins apart and around a min long so been dragged in to assessment unit.

At assessment only 1cm dilated but kept in as previous c section and high risk.

Contractions still coming. Some bloody uncomfortable and just lost a bit of mucous plug. So maybe time. Maybe not time. Guess we’ll find out some time today.

Stroan · 14/08/2019 09:51

Ah @karigan195 you could be having the next baby. It's all happening this week.

iano · 14/08/2019 10:00

Eeek!! Hope you're ok @Karigan195!
Exciting

KnobJockey · 14/08/2019 10:02

@Karigan are you trying to beat those with sections this week?! Good luck! Here's hoping the pain and uncomfortableness are nearly over for you!

Decaf, awful, but thanks for asking 😁 on and off the toilet, bit of retching going on, cracking headache. Woke up with some pain but of the type where you can't tell if it's period pain, back pain or pelvic pain, and it's not settling into contractions, so either way it can fuck off! Baby's still not dropped yet, and may still be breech, so I'm under no illusions that it's something helpful like labour, it's just another crappy pregnancy side effect to make me feel shit. Yay!

Karigan195 · 14/08/2019 10:07

Promise I’m not trying to beat anyone lol. 38 weeks today though so he’s cooked enough and I would kind of like to eat chocolate again. I don’t know if this will turn into full blown labour today but if not suspect it might be soon!

kyles101 · 14/08/2019 10:10

My headphones are those massive over ear things - not very practical for side sleeping 😂

@Stroan I had a below reading this morning (according to my monitor) 3.8 - do I just keep an eye on it and call them if I get any more? I've never had one before and and they've never mentioned what what to do with below target readings... could it be because I'm nearly at 37 weeks so the hard bit is over and I can sniff a carb again? Oh, 6am wake up, she was brave. Is it tomorrow you're booked in?

Good luck today @boodles101

Ooh @Karigan195 Keep us posted - it sounds as if you might be soon either way!!

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/08/2019 10:13

KnobJockey Flowers pain which does not result in baby can indeed fuck off

Karigan how exciting!

kyles101 · 14/08/2019 10:42

Oh, and in other news, MIL who managed to upset (extremely difficult to do) dh on his birthday last week managed to nark me off last night by saying EVERYONE at the wedding came up to her and said I was looking MASSIVE and I won't go full term and it will be a HUGE baby. Right, well sorry about looking pregnant at 36 weeks, and funnily enough ALL of those people were far too polite to say that to my face and in fact I got lots of lovely comments about looking well, but I'm so glad you felt like sharing that with me. Angry rant over.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 14/08/2019 10:43

Sorry to hear everyone else is struggling with sleep too. @Karigan195 hope you're ok and all goes smoothly whether it turns into full labour or not!
We had a fun morning, DH is at the doctor having been unwell for a while and DD was sick this morning. I feel far too pregnant and sick to want to look after everyone else 🙈 But obviously have to give my head a wobble and get on with it, neither of them can help it! Today will definitely be a chilled day with plenty of CBeebies though!

Horehound · 14/08/2019 11:26

@Megan2018 don't do what I did and press the boost button for the first time when the dials are up high...I threw my back out at the intensity of it!

@Karigan195 wooo does sound like somethings going on! We are due date buddies i think? 28th aug? I'm jealous it's kicking off for you!

I slept just after I posted my last comment around 2.30am and this morning I didn't even hear my husband's 2 alarms :s I woke properly at 10am eek.

Horehound · 14/08/2019 11:28

@TheCraicDealer when's your due date? Can't believe you have 5 weeks to work still. Poor you.

BBell2 · 14/08/2019 11:32

Had my 34 week scan and baby is growing fine! estimated 5lbs this is the point it all went a bit wrong with their sisters growth so im relieved.

VERY much extended breech with bum in pelvis - was asked to hang off trying to spin till 36wks so will just keep on that ball!

@kyles101 your MIL is a dick - I suspect often becoming a MIL to expectant mothers brings out the worst in many women! Bet you looked amazing.

Stroan · 14/08/2019 11:39

@kyles101 you aren't on insulin are you? So it would be considered a false hypo (look at the false hypo page on gestationaldiabetes.co.uk) and you would really just have a GD friendly snack or meal and check it's brought your numbers up. They don't tend to really care about lower levels unless you are on insulin. Did you feel ok with it? It could be a difference in sleep patterns or even just a testing kit issue.

Your MIL is a delight. Mine hasn't seen me this pregnancy (they are in Ireland) but spent all of my last pregnancy telling me I wasn't allowed to eat sweets or chips. How about you don't tell the grumpy pregnant person what to eat? This time, she hasn't even aknowledged that I've been so poorly but cried when DH told her about the early section because she didn't realise. No, you didn't listen. There's a difference.

I'm booked in for Friday.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 14/08/2019 11:41

Sat at DAU at the moment (it's absolutely heaving here) - baby moving fine on CTG - my blood pressure was high, then coming down fine, then midwife took some bloods and my pressure straight after Hmmso it went back up again. So I've just been given some low dose labetalol to see what happens and have to wait here for my blood test results to see if I can go home or not. All feeling v real again being back by the antenatal / postnatal wards!

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 14/08/2019 11:42

@Stroan hope you're coping ok in hospital and with the lack of sleep. Not long to go now, hang in there!

NotwhereIshouldbe · 14/08/2019 11:49

@kyles101 Totally sympathise with you, my MIL remarked how massive I was and she was never that big when she was pregnant (nothing to do with the fact she smoked and drank through her pregnancies 🤨) and apparently midwives don’t know what they’re talking about as most of them don’t have children anyway 🙄

Currently debating whether to go to another hospital to have the baby, I was misinformed by my midwife I wasn’t allowed to go to a particular hospital as only high risk women can go there, whereas the midwife for that trust on my antenatal class said that’s not true. The perk would be a private room post birth, but the other hospital I’m assigned to supposedly has a 1% tear rate for natural births, but I think attempting to recuperate on a shared ward may drive me mad!

boodles101 · 14/08/2019 12:05

Well the nice consultant worked, I didn't have to plead with him at all. He said due to the drop in growth for twin 1, best to get them out sooner. He's very happy that they are healthy, good weights and good blood flow etc but we don't need to keep going on. So babies arriving Monday 19.08.19!!
Didn't expect him to say so soon but I'm very happy!! I also guessed that date to my mum about 5months ago so I might so pick some lottery numbers for this weekend!!
