@BimbleBamble the area around my belly button has been numb for a while now. Very odd feeling, apparently it's just the skin stretching it looses sensation.

@Puglover88 me too. The braxton hicks are strong tonight and coming more regularly. I'm optimistically sat on my ball rocking to ease the back pain. It would be just my luck I'd go into labour naturally the night before I'm supposed to see my consultant to get a c section date 😂

Oh I don't think I've had any BH or anything. I bet I'm gona be really late :( 38 weeks tomorrow.

IAintWroteNoPoetry · 13/08/2019 22:31

Hi everyone! I got lost and couldn’t find the new thread😂

IVEgottheDECAF · 13/08/2019 22:35

Have mentioned before but i think BH occur more / are more noticed when its not your first baby

Megan2018 · 13/08/2019 22:53

No BH here yet! My belly button has almost disappeared (gone in on itself rather than out) but is fecking itchy! But it freaks me out to touch it as the skin has gone really thin and soft. Makes me shudder!

Horehound · 13/08/2019 23:00

Yes mine has gone thin! Still an inny for now :)

Megan2018 · 13/08/2019 23:08

@Horehound I keep thinking it might burst Shock

Tefiti2 · 13/08/2019 23:33

38 weeks on Thurs and lots of Braxton Hicks - but this is number 2 and I definitely didn’t have any first time round, and he was born on his due date so don’t worry!

Puglover88 · 13/08/2019 23:36

@Horehound I didn’t even realise I’d been getting Braxton Hicks until I went in for monitoring yesterday and the machine was picking it up. What I thought was just me getting uncomfortably big, with bump feeling tight/hard at times and baby pressing hard against my ribs has actually been BH but it doesn’t feel like contractions at all! Now that I know what it is, I realise I’ve been getting them a lot!

Puglover88 · 13/08/2019 23:38

@Megan2018 I’m with you on the weird belly button, makes me feel a bit sick to touch mine!

Horehound · 13/08/2019 23:56

and baby pressing hard against my ribs has actually been BH but it doesn’t feel like contractions at all! ahhhhh maybe I have had them then!

Yes let's hope our belly buttons don't burst!

So are most people finished work now? My sleep pattern is messed up. I woke up 5am bright as s button. By 8am I was shattered and slept until mid day! I feel tired now but can't sleep

Horehound · 14/08/2019 00:56

You've all deserted me!

kyles101 · 14/08/2019 01:26

Eugh can't sleep - downside to chilling out maybe? Ha ha - hello @Horehound Non abandoning fellow insomniac here!!

@BimbleBamble my tummy feels weirdly numb, I don't like it at all.

@Karigan195 I feel the gd pain. Caesar dressing on all the salad is helping 😉 just. The end is so nearly in sight. Hang in there. (Says the girl that cried because she couldn't have a kit kat)

I third hoping the post natal group here lasts!! To be fair, I nosed about at the other groups the other day and ours seems to be going strong where others have petered out already so 🤞

@Stroan I need to google gd korma!! Made the Keto lemon drizzle cake in the end... hmmm they're ok, stevia does have a fake taste though, and they didn't get drizzled coz MIL came and interrupted 🙄 edible though... just. Making oat and raisin cookies later in the week for post birth 😍

Puglover88 · 14/08/2019 01:28

No I’m awake! 😩 at the moment I keep waking up at 1 and staying awake until about 3, so annoying! I recommend any audio book by Stephen Fry as eventually he lulls me back to sleep!

kyles101 · 14/08/2019 01:46

Dh would moan an audio book would wake him up... even though he could sleep through a marching band passing through our room. How he manages to sleep through his own snoring is something of a miracle if you ask me 🙄

Horehound · 14/08/2019 02:09

Oh I do have Michael caines audio book...might try that with headphones!

KnobJockey · 14/08/2019 05:03

I'm up. Mild contractions here last night for an hour (35 weeks) that tailed off, but awake now with period cramps/ pelvic pain, can't quite work out which. Feel sick again too. Bleurgh. I've come down to lay on the sofa with a hot chocolate, but the dog is insisting the only place she can lay is on me.

BimbleBamble · 14/08/2019 05:17

Morning @Knob I'm up too! Hanging out with the cat in the spare room, also insists on lieing on bump, then gets confused when she's kicked off by bump. Trying to accept the likelihood of not getting a full restful sleep now for at least a year (let's face it likely to be longer!) But wish I had appreciated those early pregnancy exhausted sleeps a bit more!
Sounds like things might be moving along for you sooner rather than later then! How many weeks left?

Glad my weird belly button isn't alone, agree with the area seeming really thin and a bit odd to touch! Have managed to avoid any stretchmarks so far but feel they are going to pop out at the last second.

What's everyone planned for their first post birth meal, not had HG, but super awful acid reflux and gag reflux/appetite loss whole pregnancy, so ended up losing loads of weight and only gained 5.5kg up till now, and lost lots on my face and elsewhere. So excited about enjoying food again and feeling hungry.

challengeyourreality · 14/08/2019 06:07

Morning everyone
@BimbleBamble my belly button was/is very sensitive and feels bruised too, glad I'm not the only one. Although it is slightly better than a week ago.
I am awake this morning as the insurance company are bringing me blocks to raise my bed to 80cm for the maternity nurse when she comes to do the after birth care. Had totally forgotten about this when I put our Baby Bay up so will now need to raise that to bed height again.
We have started trying to sell what we don't use to make some space so I power washed the old twin buggy covers but the mildew stains from the garage won't come out [grim]. Queue me paranoid all night as they dried in the en suite that the mould would waft under the door and infect the baby bed and pram etc. DH assures me it's only staining. The worst thing is, we paid so much for that pram 4 years ago and it was in perfect condition, I pride myself on how maintained I keep things. We moved house last August and I didn't know you couldn't keep prams in garages, I feel so guilty. I will try to get some mould cleaner today and failing that some super strength fabric dye

happydays00 · 14/08/2019 06:27

@challengeyourreality what is this aftercare you speak of? Are you in the UK?

@KnobJockey and @BimbleBamble early morning here too. I forgot to put a nappy on DD last night (where has my brain gone??!!) so she was wondering the hall at 5:45 soaked the poor thing! Yesterday I somehow managed to put a (used, but dry) nappy in the washing machine which I would recommend that no one ever does. What a bloody mess!!!!!! All of the inside bits obviously disintegrated and it was everywhere.

I wonder what stupid, baby-brain induced things I'll do today?!

@Megan2018 my stomach is starting to look like an alien belly. It didn't look like this with DD so is I'm assuming is down to the extra 11cm of fluid I have but my skin is almost translucent and my stomach is just covered in veins. It makes me feel a bit ill to look at it. I can't even talk about what my belly button is doing either, it's just awful!!

challengeyourreality · 14/08/2019 06:40

@happydays00 have you asked your midwife about your stomach? I vaguely remember mine looking really weird at the end with dd but not sure if my memory is serving me correctly. I live in Holland, we have a pretty good aftercare system here but it can be frustrating. Especially as you have a nurse in your house for a week after birth. I heard you can say you don't want this but the process is not easy as they really don't encourage it. Some women get the nurse for 8 hours and get them to do all the cleaning and cooking but I find 3-5 is enough for the checks and I imagine this time playing a lot with DC to keep them occupied.

Stroan · 14/08/2019 06:41

I don't recommend a night on the labour ward if you want some sleep. Midwife at 6am "do you need anything?"

Yes. I need you to go back in time and not wake me up at 6am.

@challengeyourreality would a steam cleaner maybe get it out? The place that did my buggy service and valet did that. Ours wasn't stained but they had some examples on their website of really bad ones. Good luck.

@kyles101 it's one of the paid for recipes on the GD website but any keto korma would be similar. I paid for one month membership and downloaded all the stuff I fancied, like chocolate brownies and GD lasagne! Xylitol is slightly better than Stevia for a sugar replacement if you can find it.

@bimblebamble pizza! From a place near us that does sourdough pizza. But DH goes on about it so much that he's almost put me off.

boodles101 · 14/08/2019 07:09

I had the best/most comfortable sleep I've had in about 6 months, definitely needed it after being up all the night before. I did have like 5million wees but was straight back to sleep after. Babies haven't woken up yet either so will have to keep an eye on movement today but think the steroids can do that too.

Belly button talk - my belly button went very itchy and stretched out a few months ago due to obviously being bigger, it's so thin now it's practically non existent and the itching stopped too.
Consultant today, hoping to get this date moved forward then I'll be 😀😀😀

Stroan · 14/08/2019 07:20

@boodles101 if any of us deserve a good sleep, it's definitely you! Good luck with the consultant.

IVEgottheDECAF · 14/08/2019 07:27

Good news on the sleep boodles!

Atm i am thinking i would like an after the birth meal of steak, posh chips, tomato, mushrooms and peppercorn sauce. Yum.

Wet, miserable day here. Going to write a list of things i need to do / finish off and try and work through it as i am NOT leaving the house!

Stroan fancy the mw waking you up Shock how rude!

KnobJockey how are you feeling now?
