Due March 2008 - another teeny tiny thread for dial ups and mobiles

Welcome. It seems that when we get to over 400 hundred posts then dial ups and mobiles can't handle loading the threads well. Sweetkitty, I hope this helps. xx

hello all, ((jackstini))

feeling a bit today, one of the mums on bmc, who fought and beat breast cancer succesfully, has just been diagnosed with lung cancer she has been well for two years, but developed a chest infection that wouldnt respond to anitbiotics, they did an urgent scan and discovered the cancer she is only my age, life just seems so cruel and unfair

i am feeling a bit pukey but think its just that i am tired as dp is having to do loads of double shifts at the moment, and it is now looking like he might not get fri morning off for my scan

good luck with scans everyone

LoveAndSqualor · 14/08/2007 14:19

Been away for a couple of days - jackstini, so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself. xxx

papaya · 14/08/2007 16:03

so sorry to hear that jackstini xx

Another tired one here, I dont ever remember feeling this shattered when pregnant with DD, I am getting terrible skin and spots on my face....I never get spots!!!! And i feel sick all the time, morning noon and night at the moment. Well thats my winging over, hope everyone else is feeling much better!

3mb - thats awful, someone I know has just been diagnosed with breast cancer, shes 26, I know what you mean by life seeming unfair x

spugs · 14/08/2007 17:47

jack- im so sorry to hear that look after yourself hun x

mumofmonsters - im 9 weeks tomorrow, keep getting excited

FlameBatfink · 14/08/2007 18:03

Awww no!! I didn't want to keep hassling you about worrying etc Thought you must be getting to the thumping me stage I am shielding well most mornings now, so I am in a bit of a bubble and can't feel you - I think I have set it up for good vibes to filter in, guess will tell when you get a little man wriggling in a scan

Jackstini

Do some of you seriously still have dial ups?!?!

Be prepared for me to crash lots during your pregnancies

TJuice · 14/08/2007 18:39

okay, i have been lurking for a while and paranoid and superstitious about joining in . . . but i've decided to just jump into the fray, fingies crossed.

i am 8 4, due on 20th March 08.
I am from the croydon area but have been living in Copenhagen for a while. my danish is crap so its nice to see what you uk-ers are chatting about.

i am mainly paranoid about not feeling pregnant enough. my boobs are the same, not particularly tired (always been lazy and up for a nap so no changes there), no m/s.
luckily here they send you for a scan if you want to 'date' the pregnancy so we went last week and saw the bean and a heartbeat which was both shocking and reassuring - for about an hour before i thought of something else to worry about.
apart from that, i have low iron according to the nurse so i am eating spinach, beef, parsley and apricots all the bloody time.

tomorrow i have my second Dr. appt but already i have to chose hospital (they are all nice here with patient hotels etc but i will go to the biggest one with newest and most equipment, because i have turned into the most 'noidy person ever)

derah · 14/08/2007 18:41

Hello ladies

Jackstini - so sorry about your bad news. Huge hugs.... make sure you take all the time you need to grieve.

3MB - so sorry about your friend. Exactly the same has just happened to MIL. She beat breast cancer 2 years ago, losing both breasts and her womb/ovaries in the process, and now has lung cancer. Just so unfair when people have to go through it all again.

Right, I'm officially fed up. I'm so tired I just can't function. I had wonderful plans to clean the bathroom, change all the linen and get some bills sorted this afternoon while dd was napping. Instead I fell asleep while she was still eating lunch! I managed to drag myself up again to get her into bed, then crashed until she woke up. Like Papaya, I really don't remember being this tired last time and am getting increasingly paranoid about twins! But then last time I didn't have a 2yo to chase around and DH and I were living in a rented room so there wasn't any housework either. On the other hand, I worked a full week plus a bike-train-bike commute twice a day, and still had the energy to run most mornings so that should have been pretty tiring. I will freak out if it's twins! We live in a TINY 2-bed house and are wondering where we're going to put one new baby, let alone two!!!

turtle23 · 14/08/2007 19:04

Hello TJuice and welcome...shame you're not still at home as I'm also near Croydon.
When is it late enough to actually buy maternity clothes? I'm obviously not showing, just bloated and fat so all my clothes don't fit, but too mean to buy a couple sizes bigger for just a few months! lol. Anyone else tempted to throw in the towel and start wearing comfy waistbands?

imjin100 · 14/08/2007 19:20

hello tjuice and big sorry for you 3MB. it's tough. and particularly tough on the friends and family. I hope you're getting lots of support too - it does help to have people to talk to. Do you know of a book called
What Can I Do to Help: 75 Practical Ideas for Family and Friends from Cancer's Frontline by Deborah Hutton. It may not appeal but I can highly recommend it, just helpful stuff that it's helpful to know about.
So i'm now 11 weeks, due for a scan on friday which i'm really looking forward to. However, last few days have had very sore tummy, similar to the begining and i'm guessing it's just stretching but....(the worrier in me is concerned of course). Also feeling shattered again and very sick all the time. This had got totally undercontrol so a bit surprised it's back at this stage. Is it a myth that ms backs off the further into pregnancy you get?!?! If it goes on I am going to be size of small house as only thing that helps is eating which is the last thing i feel like doing.

Oh, and sorry, very long post but any advice - I have a wedding to go when I@ll be 16 weeks, what are the chances of getting a non maternity dress or is tummy likely to be coming to the party too? any thoughts? I have another wedding a month later so I guess I could get maternity but is that a bit wierd if you're not showing? Does any of this make sense. I'm rambling, call is hormones and exhaustion.

derah · 14/08/2007 19:20

Turtle - I had a mad session on eBay and bought lots of trousers with elasticated waistbands. And I've been stocking up on cheap tunic tops too. I'm already wearing both, though I have a dilemma at work. I usually wear ordinary t-shirts, so if I suddenly start showing up with tunic tops they're going to get suspicious. Equally, if I don't start wearing tunic tops my expanding tummy is going to make them suspicious!!

3madboys · 14/08/2007 19:21

thanks for the messages re friend on bmc, its heartbreaking she is only just 30

i am feeling tired but not so pukey

i have tmi question tho, discharge, how much is too much and what is normal, i have just had too change my knickers its not smelly or anything and is a creamy white colour, but a bit 'stringy' sorry i said this was tmi but i am a bit worried that its not normal, i honeslty cant remember what it was like the other three times

derah · 14/08/2007 19:23

Sorry, forgot to say Welcome Tjuice!!

Imjin - could you maybe just go for a loose floaty dress? Not specifically maternity but coming out from under the boobs so there's lots of room for your tummy! A lot of maternity stuff can be worn if you're not too bumpy anyway without looking too suspicious.

derah · 14/08/2007 19:24

3MB - my discharge sounds about the same, and quite a lot but not so much that I've had to change knickers! Maybe give your mw a call just to ask....

spugs · 14/08/2007 19:58

congrats tjuice, im due the same date as you though and had worked myself out as being 9 wks tomorrow! was your lmp 13/6?

i bought a apir of maternity jeans today from new look, i dont need them yet just very bloated but they were only £12 and i couldnt resist. look like perfectly normal jeans too. got a size 8 so they look like my normal fitted jeanns but with much more tummy room so will prob need a bigger size by 5 mths as my arse always gets huge

derah · 14/08/2007 20:03

Spugs - New Look does maternity? Must go have a look.....

MerlinsBeard · 14/08/2007 20:05

spugs my lmp was 13th June too but my cycles are irregular i am either the same as you or a week behind was day 35 when i got my positive anyway!!

spugs · 14/08/2007 20:17

derah- yeah they dont have much but its not bad. the jeans are fairly flimsy but no qworse then say asdas. plus so cheap. they had some for £25 as well which were nice.

mumofmonsters - i could be up to a couple of days more or a week less as i ovulate all over the place really dont want my date putting back though, with dd2 i was bang on but with dd1 i was moved back by 2 weeks . i did have spotting mid cycle this time (cd12) and im hoping that was ov.

mum2ozzie · 14/08/2007 20:18

Tjuice - I'm also feeling like a fraud. My boobs haven't changed and I don't even feel that tired..feel very bad saying this as so many other people have terrible ms.

Derah/Turtle - I've also had a mad session on ebay buying maternity clothes...BUT buying bigger sizes isn't such a waste of money as its a relief to have something non-maternity that fits after you've given birth..... comfy is good

skidoodle · 14/08/2007 20:48

hi everyone,

welcome TJuice, nice to have you join us I was only in Copenhagen once but it's one of the nicest cities I've ever been too. I'm a little

3MB - I'm having a lot of discharge too. I'm guessing it's normal, but have no real idea. perhaps I'll ask the doctor when I see her tomorrow.

also, so sorry to hear about your friend. that is really awful.

as for maternity clothes, so far I still fit all my clothes but some of them feel kind of tight around the middle. I think I should last another month or so without them. I haven't gained more than a couple of lbs in the last 5 or 6 weeks, so I'm just going to wait it out and see.

I have a bunch of long tops and tunicky things that will work for a good while even when I'm showing but I'll need to get some new pairs of trousers, although i think I need to anyway. My skinny jeans won't fit much longer and WtEWYE frightened me out of wearing them too much. Plus they are not that comfy now. I just want to slob around in tracksuits. Totally letting myself go. I'm a disgrace.

Years ago I worked in a maternity clothes shop. I don't think I've set foot in one since. Should be fun.

merryberry · 15/08/2007 09:12

Can still wear pre-pg jeans etc, as I'm very pear shaped, so my usual gaping waists are just filling out. However, get uncomfrtable in the evening and have a pair of early term mothercare mat jeans for then. won't wear them out of the house though as they look like sh*te from behind! how do thye manage baggy on the bum and tight on the thigh, when my body is the other way round??

have my first 2nd trimester symptom already - pink toothbrush. need ot buy some corsodyl mouthwash (YUCK). Can feel my tastebuds shrivelling and begging mercy as I type this.

Am still very very grateful 1st trimester symptoms are subsiding earlier than last pg - nausea rare now, tiredness lifting a fair bit. I think I am 11+5 off the top of my head.

HolidaysQueen · 15/08/2007 09:52

Hi all - haven't posted for a few days as I've felt so sick - nauseous from getting up at 8am to going to bed at 10pm with respite only when I'm actually eating... Ugh. Why is it called morning sickness? If only it were just the mornings... I can at least work from home, so did that yesterday and doing the same today.

Also, slightly bizarrely, I'm finding that the most uncomfortable (tummy feels constricted) and nausea-inducing position for me is sitting upright. It makes working at a desk really horrid and I keep having to get up and walk around. At least at home I can go and lie down on my tea breaks. I'm hoping this nausea passes soon rather than gets worse (I'm 8+1) as I'm going on holiday in 10 days time and don't want to be sick...

On the mat clothes debate, I've just bought two maternity wrap dresses. I am finding anything with a waist band too uncomfortable at the moment and love wrap dresses anyway as they are so comfortable. Plus they look brilliant on bigger boobs - I am normally a 34H anyway (!) but gone up one cup size already. And they easily expand with your bump so are ideal throughout. In fact I probably will be able to wear my non-maternity ones for most of the time as well.

Morning,

Welcome and congratulations TMP, PurlyQueen and TJuice!

Am curently tucking into a big fat bacon butty - it is heaven - so excuse any typos

Jackstini - sorry to hear your sad news. Hope that you are getting the care and support that you need.

3MB - that is really awful news about your friend - life can be very unfair sometimes.

I'm still in pre-preg clothes as have not put any weight on at all yet due to poor appetite and ms and chasing 16mo ds round. Don't think that will last long with the bacon sarnies every morning tho now that the ms seems to be abating.

Am 11 weeks+ now, so hopefully should get a scan date soon. I think I'll finally believe I'm actually pg once I see the little bean. All the best to those of you who have got scans this week.

TheMaskedPoster · 15/08/2007 10:25

Morning all

mmm - that bacon sandwich sounds divine WMMC! will have to have one for lunch I think..

Well, just had my dating scan and after much squidging on my belly we finally saw 'bean' and he/she is only 6 +6, so my estimates were way off. Saw the heartbeat which was good and it was nice to have visual confirmation (besides the sore boobs and feeling nauseous all day!)

so that means that my new ECD is 04/04/08 ... so it's over to April I go (although I will keep sticking my beak in for a nose!)

Wishing you all, all the best
xx

winemakesmummyclever · 15/08/2007 10:48

Aaarrgghh! It's a conspiracy!

Really really really want some OJ but cannot open the jeffing tropicana carton! Wish dh was here to open it (opening things for me gives him a warm, manly feeling I'm sure).

Bah!

MerlinsBeard · 15/08/2007 10:52

mmmmm bacon butty

TMP, aww shame you are leaving. Your name is the only one i recognise formsomewhere other than here or the m/c thread! Glad your scan went well though.
